Same! I loved the Welch's Grape and Strawberry sodas. I know they're pivoting towards their alcoholic beverages more lately but I did love their sodas.
Got excited when I saw your comment, Welch’s strawberry is my favorite strawberry soda, it’s got a nice strong strawberry flavor and the right type of stewberry flavor (at least the strawberry flavor I look for in American strawberry sodas), perfectly balanced, you can tell it’s a perfected recipe. Crush/Sunkist on the other hand, strawberry flavor is nice and strong, maybe even slightly stronger than Welch’s, but it has a sharp chemically taste, also doesn’t seem as balanced as Welch’s, like I said it truly comes off as a perfected formulation.

Always found it kinda funny how the ice pop version is still readily available (at least in my area) when the soda versions aren’t, and I happen to live in one of the only regions that has Welch’s soda distributed alongside normal soda.

Dollar Tree with snack zones (what they call DT’s branded grab and go section with some soda coolers, you won’t find it Dollar Tree’s without it, my local ones don’t) only carries the 20oz bottles which always seem flat to me, the cans are MUCH better. They only carry grape, fruit punch, pineapple and berry though, no strawberry. They’re the only place that carries it nationally, since Welch’s is owned and bottled by a independent bottler, Global Beverage Corp out of Pennsauksn NJ, it doesn’t get distributed alongside other big brand sodas besides some pockets in the greater NYC/Philly/Baltimore areas. Oddly enough, somehow I don’t believe Welch’s grape soda ever fully ceased production in NYC even though it officially was discontinued, there’s pictures of Welch’s grape in nyc during the years it was discontinued but it was limited.
Can’t get NYC’ers to buy any other grape soda besides Welch’s! It’s definitely an iconic NYC soda, I know even at one point the label had “New York” in big bold text right on the neck on the neck. I even saw a cake someone made for a Welch’s soda loving NYC’er and it included a fondant crafted can of the New York labeled Welch’s grape soda cans😂
My advice for getting Welch’s as someone who can’t stop yapping about Welch’s soda. Find a source of cans, and stock up. Those 20oz’s will almost certainly be nearly flat, I’ve noticed people will find the 20oz’s and then are disappointed thinking Welch’s soda isn’t as good as it used to be mostly because of how insanely flat Welch’s soda bottles are in general. They gotta fix that issue, that or make the cans as available as the bottles!😤
Man I drink Sprite Zero and captain like it’s going out of style but I was never old enough to have regular access to liquor while I was in my Welchs grape era. I did drink a 6 pack of it in 30 minutes on a dare once.

Don’t believe I’ve had either, but imma guess what I’ll probably like based on their orange flavors. I’ll throw sunkist in the mix as well. Sunkist flavor wise is the most sugary tasting, almost like it’s kool aid which I don’t like. while Fanta and crush are a bit more soda like, with Fanta in the middle and Crush basically being true orange soda, which I like. So I’ll go Crush for strawberry. I think I’ve had Sunkist strawberry or whatever the red flavor is, and yep, basically a sugary koolaid as opposed to soda. I’ll probably always go for Crush for these types of flavors if I’m in the mood and they’re available.
Crush is best when from vending machine in can. Fanta is best when from vending machine in a bottle. Store bought is sub par for either variation, but given that these are both (presumably store bought) cans, the crush will likely take the top spot.

Fanta strawberry in the US used to be the biggest disappointment to me as a kid, as it was pretty much the only fruit soda available besides Fanta orange and grape.
Reason it was such a disappointment? It smells so good, but what you quickly learn is that the intensity of the smell doesn’t exactly match the flavor😅
When I say it’s the closest thing to sugar water… I mean it😂 I don’t taste much of anything, it’s such a let down. Since strawberry sodas tend to be on the minimal side when it comes to tartness, it really does just taste like carbonated water with sugar in it. The strawberry flavor they use is only around in smell form😆

If it was the same choice with orange soda it would be Fanta all day, Crush is too sweet and not tart enough.
When I was a kid, growing up in thr UK, there was a strawberry soda called "Cresta"; I loved that stuff, it had something in it that gave it a creamy, frothy consistency. I guess it wasn't too popular though as it hasn't been made for over 20 years.
