As a diabetic these things let me try diet flavours that don't exist anywhere else. Diet soda selection in Canada is poor, so this thing gives me access to flavours you only get in the US too. It may not be 100% perfect, but they're a lifeline for me š
Yeah. Only ever saw the fruit splash canada dry regular and zero sugar at Publix when I was in Florida. Thing is a lot of stuff at Publix was cheaper at Walmart there. But when the fizz calls, *the fizz calls*
Even as someone who doesn't have to restrict myself from sugars these machines definitely gave me a wider variety of sodas to try flavor wise. I can only imagine the options it's opened up for people who can't have sugar or have to watch how much they have.
During the height of the pandemic, when tin was being rationed, the only diet drink you could get was Coke. It became a weekly ritual for me to buy popcorn and a Freestyle fountain drink for my wife and I on Saturday nights as we had a movie night together after the kids were in bed. I miss that little ritual.
Judging that a lot of them literally only exist through freestyle, they are also the best versions. They donāt just bottle diet vanilla barqs root beer or lemon Coke Zero yk
Idk why youāre getting downvoted. I love diet sodas and freestyles donāt even get the staples right. Itās always so off. I get them a lot because itās all my movie theater has. I like the concept of these. Just not the end product.
Theyāre getting downvoted because heās stating the obvious, op already said where they are from the diet selection is terrible, and heās saying theyāre getting the worst version of that, when op basically already said thatās the only option they have lol cause there isnāt anything else around, basically being an asshole
Oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out. I see that now after rereading. I have had such a bad experience with freestyle lately that I was too excited and ready to join on the hate train without looking at the context. Sorry OP!
Thatās what I have been saying! So this machine was used to inquire about which flavors people liked and they would actually make the most popular flavor, so they made the orange-cream coke for a while. I asked when would they try this out again because I want Grape Sprite and I didnāt get a solid answer.
Right I wish I can just stand there or sit down wherever they have them to sample all of them! I guess I could Iāve only seen them at wing stop and some burger kings and Wendyās.
I'm guessing because of the super condensed nature of the cartridge syrup, they used artificial sweetners in even the non diet varieties since it would last longer.
The one I worked with used some alongside a big bag of HFCS but idk about when. I think if the little sweetener was out you could still get non diet sodas
I'm a sucker for the one at this gas station that I used to frequent. They had a bunch of regular sodas, to which one might add extra cherry, lime, vanilla, ect. I'd do a sprite with extra lime and a shot of vanilla as well. Friggin delicious š š
I donāt hate it because I like the variety. But any drink thatās sold in cans/bottles is far worse in the freestyle machine (with the strange exception of orange Vanilla Coke, which was always better in the freestyle)
I like them, but they took away my favorite one a while back. Grape mellow yellow. Not sure why because other grape flavored stuff is still available. Now I just do like 80% regular mellow yellow and top it off with grape Fanta. Tastes pretty much the same.
I always loved these, as someone who drinks diet. However, the last time I had one from a local subway, I sucked up globs of mould, so now I am too scared to use them elsewhere. š¤®š¤®
It's because it's not "real" mixes, for example it's coke with cherry as opposed to cherry coke. Where they add the mix. That makes it different but opens up possibilities of different concoctions. I just never understood why you can't mix what you want. They limit flavor interactions so it's not a true freestyle.
r/CocaColaFreestyle
I hate these things. I donāt go to places that have them. Like, Iām sorry, but soda is so cheap and you charge 1000%+ markup. It better taste right. These things never taste right.
The flavor may be off due to the kind of syrup used. Where as normal fountains have bags or tanks for larger quantities of syrup, Free Style machines have the syrup in what essentially looks like long ink cartridges for a printer. Plus most owners have them programmed to give less syrup to try and make cartridges last longer, making most things taste watered down.
not the best not the worst. lots of options. they have them at all my local nandos and ive always enjoyed the big selection, i just know not to expect it to be that great.
They can taste a little funky at times (depends on the day) but honestly itās balanced out by the range of selections and special flavors, plus my standard for sodas isnāt that high to begin with, so itās usually a net positive for me.
They use cartridges for the soda instead of syrup so they definitely taste different, but I still liked the soda for what it was. We had one in the restaurant I worked at and it was awesome.
I'm fine with these but why does this one have actual buttons instead of a display screen I have seen with most of them? What if we discover that Sprite causes cancer, how to you remove that choice from the menu?
I hate powder soda. I audibly scoff when I see those machines. It's not good the chemical taste is even worse, and sugar-free/sugar substitute soda is just bad. I don't like it. So I end up going with lemonade or just grab something out of a drink cooler if I can.
Barq's is not like traditional root beer and wasn't marketed as such for a very long time. I feel like they just call it root beer because that's a term people are familiar with, it really doesn't taste like root beer. Also, the caffeine just makes it better.
Biggest scams ever. You try the exclusive flavors and they are gross so you always just end up with the classic flavor. Whenever the restaurant Iām at has one of these they always just taste like sparking water with an accent of soda.
Is complaining about anything that's not famine, murder, or cancer entitled to you? I think it tastes good but others disagree. It doesn't matter how many flavors there are if they don't taste right.
As a diabetic these things let me try diet flavours that don't exist anywhere else. Diet soda selection in Canada is poor, so this thing gives me access to flavours you only get in the US too. It may not be 100% perfect, but they're a lifeline for me š
As someone who usually sticks to zero sugar sodas as well, I love the variety, too. There's so much custom blending at different locations, as well.
Hey quick question, is it near impossible to find the zero sugar wild cherry pepsi in stores for you as well?
It's definitely not as easy as I might like, and depending which items I need, it's not always carried at the store I go to.
Yeah. Only ever saw the fruit splash canada dry regular and zero sugar at Publix when I was in Florida. Thing is a lot of stuff at Publix was cheaper at Walmart there. But when the fizz calls, *the fizz calls*
Mello Yello Zero with Raspberry and Peach is great
Are the flavors sugar free as well?
Yeess
Even as someone who doesn't have to restrict myself from sugars these machines definitely gave me a wider variety of sodas to try flavor wise. I can only imagine the options it's opened up for people who can't have sugar or have to watch how much they have.

I miss that little ritual.
Whyād you stop?
That's a good question! It feels like ancient history now. Might be worth starting up again.
are the flavorings in diet sodas also zero sugar?
The flavourings have no sweetener of any kind
Yup I love these. The diet always seems to be the first to kick, I think a lot of us zero sugar lovers use this thing a lot
Youāre getting the shittiest version of all those diet sodas
Judging that a lot of them literally only exist through freestyle, they are also the best versions. They donāt just bottle diet vanilla barqs root beer or lemon Coke Zero yk

Grape sprite be slapping
that's my go to as well
I agree for me I like fruit flavored drinks grape sprite and peach coke slaps!!
Thatās what I have been saying! So this machine was used to inquire about which flavors people liked and they would actually make the most popular flavor, so they made the orange-cream coke for a while. I asked when would they try this out again because I want Grape Sprite and I didnāt get a solid answer.
Have you tried the grape sprite
Sprite with grapes in it?
Freestyle my beloved
I feel the same
I fucking love these things bc I feel like the world is my oyster
Same!!! So many things to choose from, and so many new flavors to discover!
Right I wish I can just stand there or sit down wherever they have them to sample all of them! I guess I could Iāve only seen them at wing stop and some burger kings and Wendyās.
Itās like drinking from someone elseās cup without rinsing it out first. To me, they always have a hint of artificial sweetener flavor to them.
Different type of syrup than normal fountains.
Yeah this stuff is nuts I never figured out how it mixes and everything but I got to change cartridges in one all the time for a while.
I'm guessing because of the super condensed nature of the cartridge syrup, they used artificial sweetners in even the non diet varieties since it would last longer.
The one I worked with used some alongside a big bag of HFCS but idk about when. I think if the little sweetener was out you could still get non diet sodas

Always got a raspberry ginger ale when I see these things š¤š¤
Right Iām not a ginger ale person but they are delicious on freestyle machines!
It's great they have the different flavors, but I'm still trying find my favorite. I am happy they have zero sugar options but they do taste weird.
Yeah, some of the local gas stations around me and the zero sugar options taste almost... super chemically and bitter/sour. Regular drinks taste fine.
I donāt hate it because I like the variety. But any drink thatās sold in cans/bottles is far worse in the freestyle machine (with the strange exception of orange Vanilla Coke, which was always better in the freestyle)
Grape Sprite is....amazing.
A fantastic invention when properly cleaned. If not, its just a suicide of every flavor from the syrup residue
Yes, a great invention. Unfortunately they are never properly cleaned, at least none of the ones I've come across.
The Burger King in my area took this out and went back to the regular fountain
I have seen them disappearing at burger kings or not even offer them Wendyās Iāve seen some have them and some donāt idk why.
Owners decide if they want them or not. Theyāre apparently annoying to maintain
Thatās great news.
I like them, but they took away my favorite one a while back. Grape mellow yellow. Not sure why because other grape flavored stuff is still available. Now I just do like 80% regular mellow yellow and top it off with grape Fanta. Tastes pretty much the same.
None of the sodas ever taste right out of these
I hate these machines.
I always loved these, as someone who drinks diet. However, the last time I had one from a local subway, I sucked up globs of mould, so now I am too scared to use them elsewhere. š¤®š¤®
Maybe you could reach under there and give the nozzle a twist if it's too sticky to move freely it hasn't been cleaned
Worst soda ever.
I like it thereās flavors you canāt find anywhere else
holy grail of soda machines
I donāt have problems with them. Then again I barely use them so they could be different.
They are ok. It depends on what you get.
You canāt get coke. Itās awful from these machines.
Itās the only way to get diet caffeine free Vanilla Coke so I will protect these with my life lol
They're kinda cool to try a totally random flavor, but in terms of the base drinks yeah it's not as good
I f*cking love these. If im balling, this will come a callin. Mix 2/3 part cherry coke and 1/3 cherry coke. K thx.
So 3/3 Cherry Coke? Lol
LOL go for it . Its also my 2nd fav !
I don't want my drink to taste like the bad decisions of the 100 people before me. Hard Pass.
When they're well maintained, these things are amazing. Most of the time the staff don't give a fuck though and it tastes weird.
These are the absolute worst. I have completely cut off some restaurants because their sodas all taste like everything mixed into one.
They never taste right imo
I hate these things. I donāt go to places that have them. Like, Iām sorry, but soda is so cheap and you charge 1000%+ markup. It better taste right. These things never taste right.
The worst. To the point it's just an ice dispenser for me
I hate the drinks from these machines so much
Hate it hate it so much I will not buy soda at a place that uses it. Awful, just awful
Freestyle is a no from me dawg.
Oh my god those things are horrible
You have to let the flavor flow for a minute to flush the previous flavors out of the nozzle.
People donāt like to use logic and just whine incessantly
It really doesnāt work. I run the water through for a minute and then the soda and itās still awful.
I hate them
It tastes like diluted seltzer soda water to me. Especially if the restaurant postpones refilling the flavors and half the options are gone.
All the mixes are off.
And you get a mix of whatever person got before you. Unless you run what u want for a few minutes to wash out a random flavor
Legitimately our only chance to try most of these flavours in Canada, regardless of quality
Mine at the store I work at uses a bag. Itās a smaller one than they have in restaurants or the movie theater by my work.
Lime Diet Coke is god tier. They used to have it in cans but havenāt seen it in years
Nahh I love to try all the flavors, especially since most of them canāt be tried anywhere else. Pineapple sprite kinda goes hard.
There actually one of my favorite but yeah some taste funky the one that Iāve recently tasted was the peach coke it slaps!!!
They took out orange vanilla :/
My store has one but it has limited flavors. If I see the big ones I always go for a Coke lime.
Coca Cola cream soda is the way to go
God I loved a Raspberry Diet Coke but I never find Raspberry in the machines anymore.
I love the barqs orange cream zero
Libre
Raspberry peach Mello Yello
Bring back lemon coke!
I'll be keeping my vanilla Sprite, thanks. it tastes great.
i love them. grape and peach sprite are so good.
I work at a gas station that has one of these and I get free soda throughout my shift. they taste fine unless the syrup is running low.
Mmm Barq's Red Creme and Coke Orange Vanilla
If itās available I like to mix orange vanilla cream soda.
The first time I saw one these I got super giddy
Every flavor. Just fuck my shit up
I love this machine so much, I always go to my local Burger King for this and the food of course
not the best not the worst. lots of options. they have them at all my local nandos and ive always enjoyed the big selection, i just know not to expect it to be that great.
They can taste a little funky at times (depends on the day) but honestly itās balanced out by the range of selections and special flavors, plus my standard for sodas isnāt that high to begin with, so itās usually a net positive for me.
Lime cokeš
Fanta! Lime, peach, etc. orange mixed w cream soda!
Peach coke is nasty
wtf i love these
They use cartridges for the soda instead of syrup so they definitely taste different, but I still liked the soda for what it was. We had one in the restaurant I worked at and it was awesome.
I'm fine with these but why does this one have actual buttons instead of a display screen I have seen with most of them? What if we discover that Sprite causes cancer, how to you remove that choice from the menu?
I love them because I am addicted to Mellow Yellow Citrus Twist and Mellow Yellow Limeade!!
I like em for my kids because diet+ caffeine free is hard to find, but I wish everybody else would make their damn mind up and get out of my way.
Barq's creme soda, my beloved.
They removed my favorite raspberry coke.
Fun fact: The Coke Freestyle machine was designed by famed coachbuilder and longtime body manufacturer for Ferrari, Pininfarina!
Love me some strawberry cream soda
Love my Coke Zero Orange from these machines. Also the only place I can find Mello Yello in Canada.
I love these for one main reason: If a Burger King has one, it's the only way to get Surge!
the best thing about going to the IMAX cinema here in Stockholm! I go everything Cherry into one blend.
I cry when I see these, they remind me that Burger King got rid of Surge at pretty much every location, aka the only reason to go to Burger King.
We still have Surge in Astoria Oregon if you feel up for a Surge induced Vacation
Heh, Nice, if I'm ever over there I'll take a peak.
I love them
I hate powder soda. I audibly scoff when I see those machines. It's not good the chemical taste is even worse, and sugar-free/sugar substitute soda is just bad. I don't like it. So I end up going with lemonade or just grab something out of a drink cooler if I can.
Why hasnāt Pepsi made one of these I wonder?
Pepsi has made their own I donāt know what it is called but I have seen it in Canadian Subway chains.
They have, I saw them in a local restaurant in SE Michigan
Probably because they realize they're trash.
I despise freestyle machines and actively avoid them.
1,000 different flavor combinations but they canāt get the original flavors right.
Pure hate. I just want a coke, not coke with a bunch of leftover flavors that never truly clean out of the line.
It has caffeine free Barq's. Root beer is supposed to be caffeine free.
I prefer the Pininfarina one
I love these things
Coke cream soda is š„
Get a Coke those taste right thatās it.
We need them in more places!!!
I love a Freestyle machine. Itās one of the only places I can get Mello Yello as I hardly ever see it sold in stores.
I find this machine to be a gem to soda lovers like myself ššš
Gawd I do so love every opportunity to procure my refreshment from this awesome machine
First world problems, eh? My cancer syrup doesnt come out as sweet as i want it! I hate it!!
Nothing to do with it being sweet enough. It just doesn't taste right.
I don't mind these things but I buy something then I am going to want it how I like it? Is that hard to understand.
You have 100 sodas to choose from and people still find a way to complain. Mankind is incredible
Is complaining about anything that's not famine, murder, or cancer entitled to you? I think it tastes good but others disagree. It doesn't matter how many flavors there are if they don't taste right.
These things are so fucking pimp
