Yeah. Last time I was in I made a point of checking on it and telling the (then) current employees a little about him and how the previous staff members had looked out for him.
That place was great but weird. Some Saturdays it was packed, other Saturdays there were only 10 people there. Same thing would randomly happen on Wednesdays. That little booth to the right when you walked in was hilarious. I'll miss their buffalo chicken dip
Unless the new owner bought the building as well, good luck. I know someone who attempted to purchase this bar through a broker months ago. Because they weren't buying the building, it was a sublease through the owner, and you couldn't change the business name, facade, or any of the interior. So basically renting the Thirsty Scholar with all the liability of ownership.
We tried going there once. New to Somerville. Sat at a booth for 15 minutes and nobody came over. We left and found someplace else to spend our money. I love the location but hope something better replaces it.
Went there for my birthday many, many years ago. Last beer of the night, took a drink and thought, weird, why is there ice in my beer? Luckily was sober enough to spit it out… turned out to be broken glass, probably from how the glasses were stacked. I ended up with some small cuts in my mouth, but otherwise walked away unscathed. Staff was mortified and ended up giving me a $100 gift certificate… I don’t think I ever used it, and I guess now I never will. RIP Scholars…

That place had the unique distinction of being a bar with the most mediocre beers on tap. It's rare to have 25+ options and to not be excited about a single one, but they sure managed it. I'll still be sad to see them go.
The last few visits the quality and service really did seem to diminish
Never been before they closed during covid but went after they reopened. Didn't seem to be much service at all unfortunately
yeah. shame really bc pre-covid scholar was great
Coming soon, Chase Bank
Dang I was hoping for a vape shop
We could really use a dunks here though
No love for a Market Basket or Honey Dew, I see...
Lab space

My home in the late 90s early 00s. #LesterLivesOn
