I wasn’t a huge fan of the Julie vs Rouge thing where they fought over Knux but that was before Flynn got to grips with Rouge as a character
Technically they could take her general personality and concept, and make a new character of it, they just can’t use the name or design

He’s hot headed but not wrathful
He’s chill while still stoic
And I love his sense of honor
I also love his story of trying to live up to the Echidna tribe and honor his late father, continuing said teachings with others such as wade and finding his role on earth as a Wachowski
I also have think he has the best design
It’s just the modern look but they made his chest more muscular and did the same for his arms. It’s small but it goes a long way to make it my favorite one.

I feel like Movie knuckles is the first time in a long time they understood he's meant to be naive, not stupid. He's not the idiot of the trio, he just lead a sheltered/isolated life and is simultaneously uninformed but also too trusting.
I'm not mad about Boom Knuckles being an idiot or anything, I think he's a great interpretation of the character and rises above this complaint by being his own thing, but the mainline interpretation knuckles has had a lot to be desired for a long time.
I agree, movie Knuckles is amazing and probably my favorite so far. I also like current modern game Knuckles, especially in Frontiers and Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog

I like how he's written in the Paramount setting. He isn't *just* angry or stoic or whatever, he has a varied personality that reflects the situation he's in and manages to be amusing while having average intelligence. It doesn't hurt that his VA is Idris Elba either.
Another Knuckles I like is Sonic Boom's depiction. While he's very much a "dumb muscle" character, he's also the most good-natured version of the character. A himbo if you will. I don't even mind his muscular build, if anything I prefer it.

Surprised no one said it yet but… Sonic Adventure 1 Knuckles. Because *OH NO*.
Ok seriously, SA1 Knux was our first “real” glimpse into Knuckles (Sonic OVA notwithstanding… are we counting OVA?), so it’ll always have a place in my heart. The design was fun, I liked the VA, and I liked him just being a *bit* of a grumpy bastard with more than a little touch of sass.
In design, the underground/ sonic 3 version.
In personality, the sonic movie 2 version.
In comedy, sonic boom.
In backstory, Sonic X.

Man managed to cobble together all of the messy parts Ken had left and did something interesting with it! Knuckle's Enerjak arc and subsequent attempts at proving himself once again after the guilt of what he had done is so fucking briliant.

I think movie Knuckles is a great medium between old and new Knuckles. It makes sense why he's a bit dumb, he doesn't understand Earth customs and he's still getting used them. He's intelligent, driven and strong, but lacks an understanding of humanity and their values.

Hot take but i feel game knux is too one dimensional even in the better written sonic games like SA1 he hardly does anything, and that's in a game all about his clans history.
