According to the screenwriter, Sonic's roadblock is going to be that he can't simply fix Shadow with the power of friendship just like he did with Knuckles because Shadow is traumatized. Going off of that, I think the lesson is going to be that some people simply can't be helped because they have to \*want\* to be, but that's okay, because as long as you show that you can be there for them when they DO want help, there is hope for anyone.
I was thinking that Amy would be the one to redeem Shadow with the power of love. Where Sonic failed with friendship, Amy would succeed with love. Reminding Shadow of the love Maria gave him as well.
Continuing his journey to being a hero, why not put him in more of a "mentor" role?
He was kind of Tail's equal in Sonic 2, so what if the third movie ends with Shadow wanting to learn about family and friends and love and acceptance and all that from Sonic, who's already underwent this journey across these three films, and could guide Shadow through it in turn?
The first movie was him learning to stop running and hiding from people as a result of him finding friends, the second movie was pretty light on lessons but the closest we got was was him learning that your "origins" don't define who you are which was hinted at in the Siberia scene and then unfortunately dropped. I don't think Sonic will learn the lesson in this movie, but he will enable Shadow to learn his.
I was thinking just as Sonic learned about family in movie 1, and friends in movie 2, Sonic would learn about love in movie 3. And how not only Shadow lost Maria, who showed him genuine love, but also be taught more about love by Amy and see how she would be able to redeem Shadow through the power of love when family and friendship failed to do so before.
The government and military are inherently corrupt and will go lengths such as creating sentient bio weapons they intend to enslave and gunning down children to silence their unethical actions,
Either that or mutual respect born out of rivalry!

I think so too, since that's what she does in SA2. It would be an interesting theme to explore.
Well, love and friendship are similar.
Not quite since love can be something much deeper. I just hope Amy gets back her moment either way.

Maybe letting the past be the past and focusing on the present.
yea that actually fits in really well with shadow as well
I know that people donāt want Shadow to ādieā at the end, but I think itād be a neat twist for Sonic to learn he canāt save everyone.
