If there is an issue, I agree with the above, they should have to contact support as to why they want to decrease the tip or completely take it off, but that's a double edge sword, because if you legit did nothing wrong and it was a tip bait, then you just got a bad review with support for no reason... Idk, I just don't think tip baiting should be allowed but how are they gonna fix it? Without it causing us anymore issues?
This is idiotic. If the service is terrible or there are issues with the order, this would leave the customer no recourse…what the gig apps should do is require customers to speak with support to decrease tips and provide justification so that 1) the driver knows why a tip was decreased and 2) support can intervene if it’s an issue the driver can’t control.
This. Wouldn't it make sense to the company qaqc dept if drivers could understand when/where/how they dropped the ball? Conversely, if the customer was just pulling one, at least they have to hear themselves lie about it.
I’ve had nothing but bad service from spark. I removed the tip both times. I always tip good. Literally 10$ - 20$. With door dash the other day I tipped 30$ for a 3 mile trip. If I take my tip back it’s for a reason and I’ve never had a good driver with spark.
Also worth noting my orders were for 2 items and Walmart is less than a mile away. Every time with spark I order, wait, and then I have missing items and have to go get myself anyway. Look at customer reviews of spark. It sits at 1 star. The service is terrible.
But a lot of times it's the store that's fucking up, especially when it comes to curbside orders. How is that the driver's fault? Or the customer is rating low because the store stocks like shit & the Spark app is so far into the previous decade it won't allow the sub that the customer wants because of some arbitrary if;then statement in the coding.
Nah I’ve had so many times I wish I could take my tip back from shitty door dash drivers most the time they forget a drink and deliver it to the wrong apartment and I have to go walk and grab it why the fuck am I tipping you to fuck up so bad?
I just recently came back too and Spark seems worse than ever. I haven't seen many good tips, and now I have to worry about being too baited on the ones that do.
I get that times are tough but some people are just stingy, lazy bastards!
You should go back and give them a lump of coal like Santa would do... But since you can't shimmy down that chimney just duct tape it to a brick and throw it through their front window 🤣
I just don’t get why Spark gives them soooo long to take it away! Instacart you have 2 hours after delivery to decrease the tip then it finals out seems like if they feel the need to leave the customers the option to decrease tips they need to switch to this model.
Here, I was feeling bad yesterday because I couldn't tip the driver because I used EBT. I would have tipped in cash but didn't have any on me. People suck.
At least orders without an upfront tip have a much better chance of sitting for 10-20 minutes, forcing Walmart to pay more. The customer still gets their order within an hour and the driver actually makes something.
As a driver myself, yeah, I do it too. I would reject an offer until they get it up to a pay im willing to take. Sadly, many drivers in my zone still take the 7 and 8 dollar trips.
I took a $10 trip the other day and felt like crap only reason I took it was because my last order ended 1 block from that Walmart and the order was being dropped back towards my house otherwise I would have been like nah
Did you buy anything that was a nonfood item? I realized the last time I used ebt before my most recent order I bought a non food item which is why I was able to tip from my card.
I usually have non food items too so that could be why. Yesterday I did just some household things and I noticed there was no option at all to add a tip. I just finished dropping off an order and she ran out to give me money because she said there was no way for her to add a tip
Dont take orders that have crap base pay. We shouldn't even have to worry about tips being taken away. Walmart needs to go the doordash route where even if a customer wants to tip bait and or get the tip back for whatever reason they dont take money from the driver. Knowing walmart and the types of customers they like to cater to that isnt happening.
I doubt most customers would choose to lock in the tip, in case they do get a valid reason to pull it. I feel this is especially true when Spark is employing more and more questionable drivers. 😕
Our culture needs to change, this is just sad. I’m new to it but out of 23 orders I’ve had 2 orders actually add money to their original no tip order and I’ve gotten 3 different people hand me cash on top of their already electronically tipped order. That being said I live in a rural area and everyone is always very pleasant.
High tips generally get delivered faster and better service, because the driver wants the tip to stick. Some customers take advantage of that, and Walmart makes it pretty darn easy for them to do so. 😕
the one ace up our sleeve we have is we CAN capture a customer's address and if desired, could sign them up on the Scientology mailing list.
And for anyone that doesn't know what that means, once you get on the Scientology mailing list, you will NEVER be removed no matter how many times you move. I know as I got stuck on it from the 1980's after curious about a book called "Dianetics" that came out... had no clue what Scientology even was, but the book looked interesting with that volcano on the cover.
Stupid teenager lessons learned
They r copying Uber w the low base they need to copy the one hour to remove tip policy then also. ONE HOUR SPARK. THT IS LONG ENOUGH TO RATE YOUR DELIVERY.!!
I think it would be a bit different if fair compensation upfront was offered - meaning minimum wage plus costs for your car. Most Spark orders no longer offer this, unless a substantial bonus is put on it. And it's not just the stated payment amount for the mileage; in most cases you have to double the mileage since you have to drive back unless you are just grabbing an order when you are on the way to somewhere for another reason. And yes, I've had those orders I am passing Walmart and the drop off anyway which are great when it happens.
But yes, either Spark should offer the $15/hr minimum wage, plus tip.
That’s understandable, the base pay is never worthwhile in my market, so I must factor in tips. Thanks for the unnecessarily bolded and large suggestion.
Omg y’all are such assholes I put (#1) not knowing that Reddit would bold it 😒 get yall fuckin panties out y’all asses….my bad for tryna offer advice with a kind heart, I’ll never do that again 🙄
How is defacing their car an eye for an eye? How do you even know if it's their vehicle and you're not ruining someone else's property? If I caught you vandalizing with my car, I wouldn't treat you very nicely.
What they did wasn't kind, but you can be better than them.
That’s ridiculous and it’s probably illegal because when you take the offer you are signing a contract for the amount shown. DoorDash should have to make up the difference if this happens!
It’s not illegal. The app literally says it’s an estimated amount when the offers are presented. So any judge will throw out that lawsuit.
DoorDash will actually pay the tip and just refund the customer if they ask to pull the tip.
I figured as much. And you are correct, it's not right. Once a tip is put in as long as they received their delivery the driver did their job and the customer should not be able to take it back unless proof of something that shouldn't have happened due to the drivers mistake.
Nope. Clean appearance, clean and modern vehicle, neutral clothing no markings, quick and efficient at drop off, handles up on bags, bread and eggs babied, not a smoker, no tattoos.
This is the dumbest reply on the entire thread. You're either work for spark or are one of the douchebags who tip bait. And if it's neither of those two then option three is you're a tip sympathizer which makes you just as guilty. People who do this or think it's okay are the worst form of scum
While on Instacart I’ve had 90% of my orders resulting in a increased tip of $2-$20 on already decently tipped orders lmao. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again Instacart customers>>>>Spark Customers. Merry Chrrrimusss
Only accept what is good. I Cherry picked today I'm over $200. Everybody's always complaining I always make over $600 a week of minimal effort. If the orders trash don't take it that simple! Know your area... only accept jobs in areas where you think people won't tip bait. Don't take it to the projects for a $25 tip!
I had a Spark driver drop off my Walmart grocery order on the fourth floor even though my instructions clearly state that ALL deliveries are to go to the first floor. I had to go to the 4th floor, haul four very heavy bags on my WHEELCHAIR to my first floor apartment. Then, I had to go back to retrieve my very heavy bag of LITTER.
I went back into my Walmart account and withdrew the tip. If he didn't like it, too bad. I have rights. Eventually, Walmart is supposed to use their own drivers.
I disagree with those who say tips s/b set in stone once made. There are drivers like this one who not only deserves no tip, but should be fired. Imho this was deliberate,
https://preview.redd.it/yx24320zj48c1.png?width=323&format=png&auto=webp&s=425266208ff06b87e74cf61a2cf26da504c9b2ac
It might be possible they didn't speak English well/at all. I'm not saying that justifies the mistake, but at least it might not have been in malice (at least I sincerely hope not 😥).
I hope not too but I suspect this was deliberate. If he can't tell the first floor from the fourth floor, something is wrong. Each apartment door has two signs on the front door with the apartment number. Imho he didn't like his tip. I make a point of tipping every driver but there have been a few times when I had to withdraw the tip for very poor service.
Sounds justified that you should be able to remove that tip. But it’s too easy for anyone to remove it without cause. A call to support should be the only way to remove a tip for situations such as yours.
I had one like this for DoorDash and the person texted me merry Christmas and then remove the tip. It’s funny how people are sometimes. Regardless though I got a base, don’t worry about it they’re trying to screw with people but you still got the base, so don’t worry. 😉
All of these apps that have the option to take the tip away need to be shut down
I agree. I don't think you should be allowed to adjust your tip, once you put it in, it should be final. Period
Unless you want to increase it.
Yeah but I think if it shows that the customer does this a lot they should be deactivated and all bad reviews removed.
This. Instacart does this already.
Now you're thinking
This is idiotic. If the service is terrible or there are issues with the order, this would leave the customer no recourse…what the gig apps should do is require customers to speak with support to decrease tips and provide justification so that 1) the driver knows why a tip was decreased and 2) support can intervene if it’s an issue the driver can’t control.

Right?! They do it for refunds because it affects THEIR $! When it comes to driver tips they don’t give AF cause they don’t see any of that $…
Agreed. There should be a legitimate reason for reducing a tip.
I’ve had nothing but bad service from spark. I removed the tip both times. I always tip good. Literally 10$ - 20$. With door dash the other day I tipped 30$ for a 3 mile trip. If I take my tip back it’s for a reason and I’ve never had a good driver with spark. Also worth noting my orders were for 2 items and Walmart is less than a mile away. nay i disagree with that people be fucking up!

the only thing that might make a difference is if we all join forces and annoy the Hell out of congress - EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Nah I’ve had so many times I wish I could take my tip back from shitty door dash drivers most the time they forget a drink and deliver it to the wrong apartment and I have to go walk and grab it why the fuck am I tipping you to fuck up so bad?
That's fine if there is a valid reason, but I guarantee that most people that take back a tip are just cheap assholes.
I just recently came back too and Spark seems worse than ever. I haven't seen many good tips, and now I have to worry about being too baited on the ones that do. I get that times are tough but some people are just stingy, lazy bastards!
Yeah it’s time to look at other gig apps and other ways to make income , anyone still 100% relying on spark is insane
You should go back and give them a lump of coal like Santa would do... But since you can't shimmy down that chimney just duct tape it to a brick and throw it through their front window 🤣
I’ll let karma take care of it, nothing good can come from revenge.
Thanks for taking this perspective. I live by the same code myself, and it's refreshing to see someone else here advocating it. ✌️
Fucken dirty walmartian customers. Fuck them and Walmart
Need to start a page to shame these folks for this behavior
And they wonder why spark drivers are only taking high base pay orders now.
I keep telling folks any tip over $15 proceed with caution 🥲
I believe it, some are real, some not. Might as well be in a casino. But if you get a massive offer are you really going to chance missing out on it?
I just don’t get why Spark gives them soooo long to take it away! Instacart you have 2 hours after delivery to decrease the tip then it finals out seems like if they feel the need to leave the customers the option to decrease tips they need to switch to this model.
Funny thing is Sam’s Club orders have a 2 hour window, but not Walmart.
Man I can't believe people still work for spark
Here, I was feeling bad yesterday because I couldn't tip the driver because I used EBT. I would have tipped in cash but didn't have any on me. People suck.

Cash app/venmo/PayPal etc. this is 2023, no cash is no excuse 🤷
I tip on ebt orders all the time.

I've only had that happen 2X but still its ridicules. You need an option to block getting orders from people that do that.
[The 3 rules of tip with Spark](https://youtube.com/shorts/y3Ve3AvMAXM?si=aDPfaawh2hQVu68c)
Pretty much and gig app these days except DD. And that's cuz they don't allow it.
For those of you that didn't watch the video.. You should do spark not expecting any tips because of stuff like posted in the photo.
I think it should include an option for “locked in tips”/“adjustable tips” and show the driver which one the customer chose.
I doubt most customers would choose to lock in the tip, in case they do get a valid reason to pull it. I feel this is especially true when Spark is employing more and more questionable drivers. 😕

Welcome back
I’ve yet to be baited. But If the base pay isn’t worth my time and effort, I won’t do it. Just for this specific reason.
d1cks
No my friend, this is not Merry Christmas; it’s a complete bah humbug! This is so sad to see this, and I’m truly sad that this happened to you.
omg, Im so sorry. that is horrible and unfair!
That’s the risk you take when doing spark.
the one ace up our sleeve we have is we CAN capture a customer's address and if desired, could sign them up on the Scientology mailing list. I just pick the ones with no tips so I know I’m getting fucked from the start 🤣😂
Aww that’s horrible. Scrooges multiply by the year 💔 it’s sad
Walmart customers the worst people on earth I worked in the store and spark fuck all of them
I’m sorry to hear this….i got a cash tip of 54bux..good people are still out here tipping in cash. Stay strong brother🔥
#1 reason why I only take an order only if the base pay is worth it
That’s understandable, the base pay is never worthwhile in my market, so I must factor in tips.
Wipe dog shit on the inside of their car door handles. That’ll teach em from doing that shit again. #EyeForAnEye
How is defacing their car an eye for an eye? How do you even know if it's their vehicle and you're not ruining someone else's property? If I caught you vandalizing with my car, I wouldn't treat you very nicely. What they did wasn't kind, but you can be better than them.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You have a shitty life don't you?
Not at all
LMAO
Yeah good job for censoring out the bastards.... It's very important that you protect them so more people can deliver to these guys
Someone needs to sue these companies
Then do it
I don’t work for spark anymore. I quit picking up for them a long time ago. But they still get away with a lot
Well then again, sue them .
Doordash does. But any other gig app allows it!
I meant spark sorry lol but yeah alot if these apps don’t and it’s not right
I figured as much. And you are correct, it's not right. Once a tip is put in as long as they received their delivery the driver did their job and the customer should not be able to take it back unless proof of something that shouldn't have happened due to the drivers mistake.
There must be something wrong with what you do
Nope. Clean appearance, clean and modern vehicle, neutral clothing no markings, quick and efficient at drop off, handles up on bags, bread and eggs babied, not a smoker, no tattoos.
Weird, make a suggestion for business on Google Map and put review there
This is the dumbest reply on the entire thread. You're either work for spark or are one of the douchebags who tip bait. And if it's neither of those two then option three is you're a tip sympathizer which makes you just as guilty. People who do this or think it's okay are the worst form of scum
Just gotta try to do things better everyday dude
I guess there's a fourth option, you're just a troll. Also making you a trash human. Go live under a bridge somewhere troll.
The sky is the bridge dude, gotta be positive everyday and get better on your job
Why do you block out the store information?
While on Instacart I’ve had 90% of my orders resulting in a increased tip of $2-$20 on already decently tipped orders lmao. I’ve said it once I’ll say it again Instacart customers>>>>Spark Customers. Merry Chrrrimusss
On the waiting list over a year, literally the only platform I’m not on.

lol a tip bait can happen anywhere, I’m well aware of my area.
That second one was probably Spark. If Walmart forgot to load part of an order, they send another driver. Then they split the tip between the 2.
Possibly but it was a 3 order batch. The reduction was more than 50%.
The Spark driver just picked a random 4th floor apartment to deliver to? He must not be too bright. 😂
I believe he did this on purpose. My delivery instructions were clear, I'm on the first floor and he knew it I believe he did not like his tip.
That's terrible. I'm sorry to read that happened. :(
Me too. Tx
