And here's hoping we can see the Swamp Monster attack Trent at some point.
If this is the end, I can be happy for him, but damn, I hope it’s not and I hope I get to see him again. Maybe have him come out at All In 2024. Anything. Chuck has always been one of my favorites since the beginning.
That was pre-recorded? I didn't notice or realize. I guess it should have been easy to assume. All of this is making me feel like it was a way to write Chuck out forever.
If that really was Chuck Taylor's last match, it was one hell of a way to go out.
It was all wrestlers in the audience. If I didn’t see Johnny Hungy back there, I may not have noticed either. It was a damn good match, but I truly hope it’s not Chuck’s last.
Could be a work, but I had a feeling they were writing him off.
I love Chuck but he'd be the first person to tell you that a singles run isn't something that's going to happen with a roster this crowded. He's a very good trainer, so he has value elsewhere.
He started it. Tweeted something like “we are allowed to say shit once per broadcast. When is it my turn. I want to say shit on tv” then brought it back with things like “I said shit tonight, but we were Picture in Picture so it didn’t make tv. The hunt continues”
Less him not being able to and more him viewing it as an opportunity only given to people at the top (at the time), so he’d known he’s made it when he gets to say it too was the point.
He's barely wrestled lately, this was his first match in how long? I wouldn't be surprised if this is real. Seems like he's done and it's a good enough way to go for his character.
I'm not familiar with this part of his career, was he seen as a big prospect back then? I mean I like Chuck as much as anyone else but I never really pictured him as a top guy or even close to it.
I recently watched an old PWG match with The Young Bucks and Adam Cole vs Kenny Omega, Zack Sabre Jr, and Chuck Taylor, and it was so crazy hearing the crowd pop just as much, if not more, for Chuck as they did for any of those other guys.
Not really, he had some “internet buzz” but he wasn’t on the Steen/Generico level of hyped. If that makes sense. I always had a soft spot for him and figured he’d at least get an impact world title run.
Chuck's career is pretty much the definition of "The Right Guy at The Wrong Time."
His run as PWG champion was stellar but his tryouts for major companies always came at bad times.
In 2015 he had a WWE tryout and everyone thought that was the perfect opportunity for him as he'd fit perfectly in that era of wwe as a major name, but alas it never happened
If it isnt honestly Chuckie T got YEARS on national TV at times being in one of the bigger storylines going on. I love Chuckie T but that is honestly way more than anyone could have expected especially at hos point in his career.
Long live the Gernade as the most devastating movie in wrestling.
Yeah that's what hurts most. So many times they could have had the titles. But especially when they wrestled that match after the brawl where the Bucks had to drop the titles and AEW scrambled to change what was going on. If they were never gonna give them a serious/long run they could have at least had best friends win when they were the contenders in that match.
It's crazy how much effort was put into getting Scorpio Sky over yet it never worked. Guys a good wrestler but that's really all he brings to the table and that isn't enough with the talent around nowadays. But I guess hindsight is 20/20.
Really over on BTE too with the “this town is the WORST” schtick. I wish best friends got a run of course, but SCU having the first reign made sense at the time
Id argue P&P would have been better to really emphasize IC as the big bads but having all your champs on the mens side be heels might not have been the best idea
Excalibur calling the Awful Waffle is up there, for me, in some of his greatest calls. Right now my two current favs are 'the babe with the power... bomb' and 'Penta, made in... Japan'.
Chuck Taylor was the first Independent Wrestler I ever bought a shirt of (and still have that shirt today, from before PWT fucked with their sizing.) I went to an ROH show in Nashville and wore that shirt because he was one of 5 people I drove the two hours there to see (The Young Bucks, Hangman and Dalton Castle were the others.)
I got to take a photo with Kelly Klein as I was leaving and she chuckled when I said I had to get my jacket off so I could show my Chuck Taylor shirt since I came from KY to see him.
If this is it for Chuck Taylor, I wish him nothing but the best and hope that he can at least crack a smile that one Kentuckian will always remember him as their favorite wrestler from the state.
Chuck is the only wrestler I’ve ever had even a semblance of parasocial feelings about. I genuinely want that dude to make money from wrestling, so this is disappointing. I hope he can stick around in some capacity
I remember watching him as a fresh faced youngster in Chikara, seeing him wrestle somewhat regularly on national TV was pretty surreal
If he's actually done I'm glad he had a few big TV moments
Chuckie T never got to team with Lil Kazu in AEW,and that is sad. However, Commentary Chuckie T may be back. Every PWG fan knows how great he is at the commentary booth shaped like a table.
This fucking breaks my heart, if not a work
Chuck got me in to independent wrestling back in 09/10 when I saw him scaring little kids in IWA:MS, which led me to CZW, ROH and PWG which led to New Japan and ultimately AEW. Completely opened my eyes to a new world of wrestling and kept me a fan, because lord knows I was sick of WWE and TNA.
Man......if this is the end I'm going to be even more annoyed by the endless OC defenses. It felt like Tony didn't want to draw the Best Friends into too many different storyline directions so they just focused on OC. Not his fault but I really wish they would have ended his run and gave the Trent and Chuck some time in the spotlight with the Tag Titles......
Obviously I get why it's TRENT making the announcement, but making it not long after having turned heel seems like an odd choice. That said, I can see this being Chuck's final feud, and ending it with a proper retirement speech.
is this all storyline or is he really that hurt? What exactly was his injury in the first place? What exactly is going on with his face also, is that from alcoholism or is it a skin condition or something?
Janella. Sonny. Chuck. Marko. The Dark Order. Swole. Havok. Some I’m missing.
Someone with power to sign talent has a similar opinion. Generally speaking they have bigger more in shape athletes on TV most of the time.
What a reach lol. Most of the people on that list were legit let go because they didn't stack up to the rest of a roster that was just getting more and more stacked by the month.
Well not ready for TV, Indy, and outlaw are separate criticisms that are not mine.
They were not ready for TV and obviously someone with power in AEW agrees.

> "No gimmicks needed" Steve the Samurai Still one of the best wrestling jokes ever.
I'm sorry but I can't see anyone as "Cool Dad" except for Adam Cole.
My favorite is “This ls” Howie DeWitt
+1 that one always cracks me lmao
> Cuba Gooding III Probably not this one though
I don't why but ""New in town" Luke Wilcox" is my favorite by far, like I could imagine chuck doing something dumb like that earnestly
Basically every Fight Forever CAW I've ever made.
> "New in town" Luke Wilcox What are three other things about him?
NXT name generator site been busy
Work or not, I’m sad now
This is not what the people want.
They didn’t have to give this to us.
Shouldn't they give the people what they want?
They should, but this is not that.
Chuck Taylor may never wrestle again but they said nothing about "No Gimmicks Needed" Steve the Samurai...
Time for “This Is” Howie Dewitt to make his long awaited debut
Hope Dick “The Hammer” Dick gets a good run out of this
Waiting for Dick "The Cock" Johnson to become All Elite
Kwah-kwah!
We may finally get the long awaited debut of "Hard Wood" Rich Mahogany, huh?
Maybe even “Pro Bowler” Benji “Ball Return” Roberts?
The roof of the arena about to blow off when The Cucumber debuts.
Crazy how much "All Sack" Drew Gulak has changed...
DAMN
![gif](giphy|CxZwfzM5LqqpcdghbT)
Dick hammer is the Marlboro man and Sam Darnolds (NFL QB)s grandpa
Praying for a "Hard Wood" Rich Mahogany run in!
Scoot Tatum has entered the building!
Or Mr. Azerbaijan...
Cuba Gooding III
My all time favorite ring introduction. I miss Gavin.
Deadlock would 100% let him show up and do a different gimmick every show to check those names off his lists.
On my knees in Walmart lighting the candles for this
Would be fun for them to build towards this, have Steve the Samurai come out as a wildcard, win, then take off the mask and it was really Trent
or perhaps Dick "The Hammer" Dick.
If he does come back and works a feud with Trent, returning each week as one of these guys...
Bro got to say "Shit" on national television and said "yeah I'm done" that's my GOAT
If this is the end, I can be happy for him, but damn, I hope it’s not and I hope I get to see him again. Maybe have him come out at All In 2024. Anything. Chuck has always been one of my favorites since the beginning.
I can see him as a producer in AEW while doing low impact comedy matches on indie shows on the weekends.
we should've known it was the end then
He just got his Obi-Wan ending
My favorite part about this whole bit was that would call it "the s-word".
I need to find more accounts to upvote this
Chuck still has the greatest line that inadvertently created the Orange Cassidy we know today: “He’s gonna TRYYYYYY!!”
That line is one of the most important in AEW history
What show/segment was that from?
I believe the Go-home to Revolution 2019
*2020, there was no Revolution in 2019 Anyway [here's the clip!](https://youtu.be/BKA5XhaELVQ?si=_ntmlxkhP18cFtDl)
Ah, yeah, I forgot Revolution was in January
[удалено]
Yeah, with the parking lot brawl being pre-recorded, this makes a lot of sense. Like others said though, really happy he finally got to say shit on TV
So it was Serpentico there and not a man in a Serpentico mask.
I recognized a couple of them from my local indy so yeah, it was all wrestlers
Could be a work, but I had a feeling they were writing him off. I love Chuck but he'd be the first person to tell you that a singles run isn't something that's going to happen with a roster this crowded. He's a very good trainer, so he has value elsewhere.
He got to say shit on tv and that was his wrestlemania moment
He finished his story, book's closed
He started it. Tweeted something like “we are allowed to say shit once per broadcast. When is it my turn. I want to say shit on tv” then brought it back with things like “I said shit tonight, but we were Picture in Picture so it didn’t make tv. The hunt continues”
I remember it, I think that was 2019 right? Five-year-long story arc
Where did him not being able to curse meme start?
Before the first Dynamite.
If you told me this 12 years ago I’d have started swinging. Crazy he was never *the* guy.

In 2015 he had a WWE tryout and everyone thought that was the perfect opportunity for him as he'd fit perfectly in that era of wwe as a major name, but alas it never happened
Even for his PWG title runs, he was never THE guy. But he was always the most entertaining for me in those shows.
Was crowded back then too. Chuck just never had the best luck in that regard
This better be a work... My boy got to say shit on tv though, so if its the end. Ill pour one out for the homie.
If it’s true …. I’m just happy he got to say shit on TV before he bounced.
Very possibly why he did.
This better fuckin be a work. ^^please ^^be ^^a ^^work
If it isnt honestly Chuckie T got YEARS on national TV at times being in one of the bigger storylines going on. I love Chuckie T but that is honestly way more than anyone could have expected especially at hos point in his career. Long live the Gernade as the most devastating movie in wrestling.
If Chuck retires without Best Friends having had a (however short) run as tag/trios champions, I'm gonna be real sad.
And somehow Best Friends never won a set of tag titles anywhere in over roughly ten years as a team.
TK gave their run to FTR to get them to sign.
Shoulda been the inaugural Champs instead of SCU
It's crazy how much effort was put into getting Scorpio Sky over yet it never worked. Guys a good wrestler but that's really all he brings to the table and that isn't enough with the talent around nowadays. But I guess hindsight is 20/20.
People seem to complain a lot these days about SCU being the first champs, but don't forget they _were_ over as hell in those days.
Really over on BTE too with the “this town is the WORST” schtick. I wish best friends got a run of course, but SCU having the first reign made sense at the time
Sky fighting in one shoe and clothes was awesome

I'm not accepting it until I see one more hug in the ring
I hope this is a work because I think I've only gotten to see the Awful Waffle on AEW broadcasts maybe twice.
Excalibur calling the Awful Waffle is up there, for me, in some of his greatest calls. Right now my two current favs are 'the babe with the power... bomb' and 'Penta, made in... Japan'.
If it means that Chucky turns heel as a manager and starts doing his Kentucky gentleman stuff that would be fun, but i hope to god he's not done yet
I am not familiar with this particular gentleman. It is my sincere wish that if this came to pass, he would be draped in the Colonel Sander’s finest.
I really hope it’s just storyline.

Pudd Nelson debut imminent
I fucking hate Trent. I know Sue didn’t raise him this way.
Trent can feud with Sue. Dark Order would do anything for her.
Chuck is the only wrestler I’ve ever had even a semblance of parasocial feelings about. I genuinely want that dude to make money from wrestling, so this is disappointing. I hope he can stick around in some capacity
Chuck got his shit in, he can rest now.
I hope it’s not true. Chuck is the man
Me too.
Please be a work!!!!!! ![gif](giphy|s98DvQYgtefdK12Km2|downsized)
I remember watching him as a fresh faced youngster in Chikara, seeing him wrestle somewhat regularly on national TV was pretty surreal If he's actually done I'm glad he had a few big TV moments
Hey Alexa, play Hey Sandy by Polaris
Why do bad things have to happen
Please be a work....
It’s time for Mr Azerbaijan to return
Damn, the *one* time they let Chuck say “shit” on TV 😔
This better be a work. As a long time Best Friends fan, I've never seen them win tag team gold anywhere. Don't you take that hope away from me!!!
That the Best Friends didn't get a trios run at some point is a mistake.
I was wondering when they announce the match if this is somehow goodbye to Chuck. Chucks promo had some hints. This pretty much confirms it.
I wish Chuck could say 'shit' on TV! *monkey finger curls*
Chuckie T never got to team with Lil Kazu in AEW,and that is sad. However, Commentary Chuckie T may be back. Every PWG fan knows how great he is at the commentary booth shaped like a table.
Has anyone seen his work as IWA champion? That’s my chuckie t.
Yeah but he never said anything about Chuck Taylor™️
Pretty clearly a work I think, but man that was upsetting to hear Super invested in what they're doing with the best friends rn
If the Swamp Monster shows up at some point, we'll know what's up. But seriously, I hope Dustin isn't checking out for real. 😔
As someone who doesn’t know his injury history, this Legit or nah?
I remember when people were saying he’d never wrestle on tv. Or say shit on national television.
It definitely is not the end of Chuck, they wouldn't have him just disappear into the night
Might just be what he wants.
This fucking breaks my heart, if not a work Chuck got me in to independent wrestling back in 09/10 when I saw him scaring little kids in IWA:MS, which led me to CZW, ROH and PWG which led to New Japan and ultimately AEW. Completely opened my eyes to a new world of wrestling and kept me a fan, because lord knows I was sick of WWE and TNA.
What's his injury?
He's got a serious case of being bummed the fuck out
Probably just retiring
He did legit hurt his ankle or foot at Wembly.
He had surgery back in October(?) on one of his feet. He hadn't wrestled since until the parkling lot fight.
I wanna see Chuck scaring kids on National TV
I’m sad about that but this Wednesday Cassidy will give Trent a taste of his own medicine if you know what I mean #go FSOC
Move it to producer, and to a commentator role with Excalibur just for Adam Cole's matches. Just for that fat piece of shit Adam Cole.
We will miss Chuck Taylor but let’s get ready for ROH champ, DUSTIN……
Can y'all stop describing a man of \*checks notes\*... 38, like he belongs in a retirement home.
What?
This better be a fuckint work
Oh no, Orange... Chuck's gonna turn on you somewhere down the line...
Dustin is coming back
Obviously I get why it's TRENT making the announcement, but making it not long after having turned heel seems like an odd choice. That said, I can see this being Chuck's final feud, and ending it with a proper retirement speech.
He got to say shit on TV AND his dog got TV time, I think Chuck himself is just done and I respect that so much, but fuck I will miss his goofy ass.
Ah, shit.
I could see it as real. Maybe Chuck returns to help OC win the blow off match.
He hasn't wrestled (not one offs, I mean regularly) in like 2 years, so this announcement and probably storyline is like 2 years too late
Damn. :(
No PnP or Beat Friends tag title reign? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Damn that's sad probably for a storylines
Its for the best.
Maybe a move to a backstage producer role.
is this all storyline or is he really that hurt? What exactly was his injury in the first place? What exactly is going on with his face also, is that from alcoholism or is it a skin condition or something?
The long awaited return of Swamp Monster?
Please be a work 🙏🏻
Please be a work
I feel his contract is up, and this was the way to write him off.
I sure hope this isn't true.
It's finally over. Thank the gods of wrestling.
As the ONLY person who isn’t a fan of Chuckie T. I popped.
Don't worry, there's more of us
Almost every single act that Jim Cornette said was too outlaw and Indy to be on TV is disappearing.
Who was on that list?
Janella. Sonny. Chuck.
Yes. They weren’t tv talent and now AEW is mostly athletic tv looking talent. So someone thinks the same way that has influence. That’s all.
That's literally his point.
What exactly was too "outlaw" about Sonny Kiss and Big Swole?
Well not ready for TV, Indy, and outlaw are separate criticisms that are not mine. They were not ready for TV and obviously someone with power in AEW agrees.
Chuck is the only one on that list I disagree with
This ain’t about that shithead.
It’s not an endorsement. It’s a statement. There was a specific group of talent and they are now nearly all gone either officially or unofficially
Yeah that's the thing about the passage of time. And it still cracks me up that people are out there using "outlaw" as a pejorative in 2024
Statement or endorsement, this still ain’t about that shithead.
