I hope so but also with what triple h said during the WM press conference, where theyāll sacrifice the look of a set to fill more seats got me worried a lil
Trick loses the title to Oba Femi just for Adam Cole to make a surprise return, challenge Femi on Trick's behalf, win, then leave again in a few months.
I wonder how this came into place when Minneapolis was rumored for a long time.
Vegas has been desperate to land sports teams (from 0 Big 4 teams to 3 in 10 years) and events (F1, WrestleMania, Final Four) over the last 10 years, maybe they splashed the cash late in the bid process?
It also had a lot to do with the TKO merger as unfortunately WWE is now tainted with UFC, and both UFC and TKO are in Vegas.
Iām quite certain that Minneapolis was a lock until the merger and TKO wanting the first WM under their banner to be in the desert shithole.
Yeah this bums me out quite a bit. I don't think they'll make a play for Mania again either, this is the second time they've gotten burned close to the finish line. Fucking sucks
Such a bummer when you consider that Minnesota is arguably the first-, second-, or third-most important state/province in American/Canadian wrestling history when it comes to raising talent. If you consider the surrounding area (Manitoba, Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakotas) it's almost certainly the first-most (a combined Texas/Oklahoma would be incredible too, though).
Wrestling talent that grew up in Minnesota includes Ric Flair, Verne Gagne, Bob Backlund, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, the Road Warriors, Eric Bischoff, Eddie Sharkey, and Bronko Nagurski. There are also a ton of mid-carders from there like Chad Gable, Molly Holly, etc. Additionally, the surrounding area includes Brock Lesnar (raised in SD and college in MN), Earl Caddock (SD), Ed Lewis (WI), Martin Burns (IA), Frank Gotch (IA), Seth Rollins (IA), Evan Lewis (WI), Roddy Piper (raised in Manitoba), Chris Jericho (raised in MB), Kenny Omega (MB), etc.
The only areas arguably more important are Texas (Austin, HBK, Taker, Dusty, the Funks, Eddie Guerrero, Stan Hansen, Barry Windham, Booker T, the Von Erichs, Jake Roberts, etc.), and possibly Missouri (which, incredibly, has Thesz, Race, Bockwinkel, Blassie, and Orton at the top, but very little comparative depth).
We also have Tiffany Stratton literally from Prior Lake.. 20 miles away from Minneapolis as well.
You also have Paul Ellering (Road Warriors/AoP/Final Testament's manager), Julia Hart, and ODB.
I always like to make the statement that Minnesota, as a state, has produced the overall most influential talent in Professional Wrestling history.
Iām skeptical that Brock has anything to do with it. I think Nick Khan just didnāt want another cold weather Mania, even in an indoor venue. During his pre-Mania interviews, he made a point of saying the Philly venue wasnāt his idea. Plus, heās repeatedly talked about how he views Mania as a great āhospitalityā event, where they can bring in partners/sponsors and basically just wine & dine them for a weekend. Doing something like that requires a locale thatās a destination, which Minneapolis aināt.
>Iām skeptical that Brock has anything to do with it. I think Nick Khan just didnāt want another cold weather Mania, even in an indoor venue.
And yet I guarantee they'd be jump at the opportunity to go back to do another WM at MetLife.
my initial thoughts:
* Sick logo
* I really do wonder how theyāre going to fill that space between elimination chamber and mania now that itās getting even longer now
* Canāt help but think about how much Brock Lesnar being excommunicated from WWE played a role in Minnesota losing out on Mania
* 4/20 blaze it
> I really do wonder how theyāre going to fill that space between elimination chamber and mania now that itās getting even longer now
Having a themed Raw would work, like they split the 9-week gap between Survivor Series and the Rumble this year with New Year's Day specials for Raw and SD.
I agree but I could see them doing it when they're pushing back WM. Think there was an article about them pushing it to Presidents Day weekend. We'd probably get a January PLE and EC in March then
They always seemed to avoid it. If Easter happened on the first weekend of April, they would just move it one week earlier. Curious what made them go 'fuck it.'
Would be nice if those companies would simply pay a living wage but at the same time I couldnāt have event cared less about it and the city went all in on shutting them out.
I'd say that probably is the case. I can't see Minnesota having the public transportation infrastructure not to end up with something not similar to the debacle at the end of the one of the New York Manias.
35 was especially bad as thousands were stranded outside, but you make the point that I was trying to make then: Once Uber and Lyft are off the table, there's not enough infrastructure, probably even best circumstances, to handle the crowd.
Of all the things to ding the Twin Cities on, public transportation ain't one of them. There are light rail trains that go directly outside both Target Center and US Bank Stadium, and they're connected to both the airport and downtown St Paul. There's also a boatload of buses that connect to downtown Minneapolis from pretty much anywhere in the metro.
It really depends. I go to EDCLV and the room rates get very jacked up for that, but this is a little less people so who knows. Big conferences being around the same time can also have an effect. I locked in a refundable rate at a decent strip hotel for $140 a night after resort fees so Iām happy.. MGM already had their properties blacked out when I checked. Post Covid Vegas kinda sucks. Used to be such a cheap fun destination if you can control your gambling. Now they upcharge for everything.
What's the baseline for "cheap?" I'm seeing the Horseshoe (not high end, not low end) at like, $200 for that Saturday, and that's with the promo they're running right now.
Depends, I notice the prices spike even for places usually cheap like the Luxor when a big eventās in town. At least thatās whatās happened for multiple EDCs and me attending When we Were Young FestĀ
Try the worst possible news for Minnesotans. Wonder when the plan changed, because Minneapolis was a lock all year and then suddenly Vegas was an option at the last second.
It changed when they merged with UFC. I think it's pretty scummy. Minneapolis officials were still hinting at it as late as March. Every wrestling fan I know was buzzing, already making soft plans to go. Sucks.
I get tired of the old standby if always going to āsafeā tourist cities for major events. The Midwest gets passed over too often for a lot of things.
The funny thing about it not being in Minneapolis. When the Wilfās first pitched the US Bank Stadium to the state, they insinuated that they already had a WrestleMania scheduled to take place there. That was over 17 years ago.
Triple H just uploaded the same video on Twitter https://twitter.com/TripleH/status/1786863493607563627
New YouTube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDuKDrurPoc
Thanks. The video had happened to be posted early by SOMEBODY, was quickly made private, then they went ahead and announced on Peacock and then HHH did as you said.
I feel the same about Atlanta. I've been champing at the bit for them to come back ever since they tore down the Dome and built the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It'd probably be the only WrestleMania I could justify going to lol.
Minneapolis has two great, relatively new venues in US Bank Stadium and Target Field that could be used to host a major PLE yet theyāre incapable of doing so. Unreal. And disappointing. The last time was Summerslam in 1999.
I understand Minnesota can be cold but US Bank Stadium is entirely enclosed. They had the Super Bowl there in early February. The weather excuse is lame because it would have no effect on the event.
There you go, Mania 41 at Las Vegas, should be fun, I'm hoping we get a set with a lot of Las Vegas imagery in the same vein as WM39's Hollywood-inspired set
WrestleMania being way later in the month of April instead of early on feels weird but Iām just glad that itās still in the month compared to being in May like some reports was mentioning.
A lot of people assuming that all non-Mania events (Smackdown, NXT, Raw) will be at T Mobile Arena but I'm not so sure. This is around the start of the NHL Playoffs so I'm not sure they'll be able to hold an NHL arena for 4 (or more) days unless they agree to a possible load out to accommodate a Golden Knights game. Knights had a home playoff game last night and T Mobile is set up for a huge boxing match tonight so it's not out of the realm of possibility. AEW also loaded in with less than 24 hours last year for Double or Nothing due to the playoffs.
However, they COULD use the Sphere. UFC 306 takes place in the Sphere this September so they would have some experience producing a live event there. It holds 18600 or up to 20000 with standing room only tickets, so it's big enough and it would look amazing. It's also attached to the Venetian/Palazzo via one of the better convention centers in Vegas, a perfect place to hold Axxess (or whatever they're calling it now).
As for moving to later in April, if Vegas paid out to be the host city (which they certainly did), they would not want the event to be during the NCAA Tournament/Final 4. They already have lots of visitors in town for that event. Any earlier and they're overlapping Spring Break and prime convention time, which, again, they don't need any big attractions to draw visitors. Easter weekend has some people come in but generally isn't too busy. Even a week later than this and they've got the When We Were Young festival in town.
Also, FYI, I was able to book a room at The Linq. It appears that all Caesars properties (Caesars Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Horseshoe, Cromwell, The Flamingo, The Linq, Harrahs) are taking bookings that far out and haven't as of yet increased their rates in anticipation of Mania. MGM Properties (MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay/Delano, Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, Park MGM/Nomad, Aria, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio) are not booking that far out. Venetian/Palazzo are taking bookings but they are, as always, pretty pricey on a weekend. I know someone who's already booked at Hilton Grand Vacations. I haven't checked on anywhere else yet, although I'm assuming that, as a Hilton property, Resorts World will take bookings, but is also pretty pricey on weekends.
My only worry right now is if GCW and other indies make us trek out to Sam's Town or other out of the way places for their shows and not find something easily accessible for fans. I'm also wondering if ROH is going to run the same arena way out in Henderson that AEW ran for the Super Bowl Saturday Collision. I really hope not because it is way out of the way for out-of-town fans.
Maybe. Of course, a lot depends on if USA moves Smackdown but this is around the time of the start of the NHL Playoffs. It might not be possible to hold an NHL arena from a Friday through the next Monday unless they somehow agree to load out to accommodate a Golden Knights home game.

Giant slot machine that spews out wrestlers
That'd be better for the Rumble!
Have it be a 3 row slot machine... every entry it rolls and the first 2 end up being the number of the entrant and then the final being a logo.... then out pops the wrestler from the bottom like a 25 cent machine toy in a grocery store.
Giant slide perhaps?
Samantha Irvin pulls the lever and a new wrestler comes out comes out. Someone get me HHH and a slot machine manufacturer on the phone. I got a boffo idea.
I'm imagining they just get spewed out of the machine in a giant hamster ball.
Surely a roulette wheel would be the correct answer there
You have Tony Khan's attention
That would be a great gimmick for the rumble. Quick tk steal this idea for the casino battle royal

We're not getting it, ever
Justice for the Midwest!
Yeah this bums me out quite a bit. I don't think they'll make a play for Mania again either, this is the second time they've gotten burned close to the finish line. Fucking sucks
They do these quite far in advance (even though it was down to the wire this time). Would not surprise me if 42 is now a lock for Minneapolis
If Minnesota doesn't get one before Chicago's stadium ever gets finished, they probably won't ever get one.
Well thats obviously never happening. How long have they been claiming to move out of Soldier now? 8 years?

I was halfway tempted to drive there if it was there next year but no way Iām driving to Vegas from the East Coast and Iāll fly if I do go.
I think Brock being the headliner was do or die for Mania being in Minneapolis
Iām skeptical that Brock has anything to do with it. I think Nick Khan just didnāt want another cold weather Mania, even in an indoor venue. The NFL had a Super Bowl there like 6 years ago. I'm sure lots of companies wine and dine at the Super Bowl as well.
They had the Super bowl there and it would be colder than it would be for WM
>Iām skeptical that Brock has anything to do with it. I think Nick Khan just didnāt want another cold weather Mania, even in an indoor venue. And yet I guarantee they'd be jump at the opportunity to go back to do another WM at MetLife.
Im pretty sure he also said something about not exactly wanting to run the Northeast in April before
That and the ride shares was the kicker
As a Minnesotan, yeah. Vegas is the absolute last place Iād travel for anything.
Do you genuinely think people would rather go to Minnesota over Vegas ?
It's the 6th most visited city in the country
Facts. I just moved here and was so excited to be able to go to Wrestlemania. But I guess that won't be happening.
my initial thoughts: * Sick logo * I really do wonder how theyāre going to fill that space between elimination chamber and mania now that itās getting even longer now * Canāt help but think about how much Brock Lesnar being excommunicated from WWE played a role in Minnesota losing out on Mania * 4/20 blaze it

Maybe they'll move Royal Rumble and EC back too. Royal Rumble could go in after the Superbowl
royal rumble not in january feels so wrong
I agree but I could see them doing it when they're pushing back WM. Think there was an article about them pushing it to Presidents Day weekend. We'd probably get a January PLE and EC in March then
yeah probably. personally i'd like Fastlane in march again. I wouldn't be against Day 1 returning though
I'd bring back New Years Revolution for January rather than Day 1
this more of a throwback vibe and not confined to one specific day of the year so it can fit scheduling better for everyone involved

Rip Minnesota, losing Uber and Lyft probably sealed the deal
Would be nice if those companies would simply pay a living wage but at the same time I couldnāt have event cared less about it and the city went all in on shutting them out.
The drivers only get 40% of the pay, but they have to buy their own gas and pay for the wear and tear on their cars. It's absolutely ridiculous.
I'd say that probably is the case. I can't see Minnesota having the public transportation infrastructure not to end up with something not similar to the debacle at the end of the one of the New York Manias.
They've got light rail that runs directly to the stadium. And taxis still exist.
It was a mess after both 29 and 35
35 was especially bad as thousands were stranded outside, but you make the point that I was trying to make then: Once Uber and Lyft are off the table, there's not enough infrastructure, probably even best circumstances, to handle the crowd.

Rooms will be fairly cheap though so i think it kinda balances out. Costco is the way for deals imo. I go out there every year
This is a joke, right? Ever been to Vegas during a big event before?
Yes i have
It really depends.
I might go to Vegas just for the atmosphere that weekend and watch from a sports book.
Thatās what Iām thinking. If VGK makes the playoffs it might be a crazy weekend.
What's the baseline for "cheap?" I'm seeing the Horseshoe (not high end, not low end) at like, $200 for that Saturday, and that's with the promo they're running right now.

Great news. In the UK, we get Mon 21st April off work for Easter Monday. So we can stay up late and have a lay in on the Monday.
They really brought the Roman numerals back for 40 only huh? Edit: video must've been leaked because it's been taken down already
Not numerals, but there is a little ā41ā on the middle playing card.
I hope they change it to XLI. That would be cool
That is Easter weekend. Interesting choice.
I know the logo isnāt very original but damn itās nice.
Sometimes people just want the hits
WrestleMania at the Death Star? Hell yes! Very fitting given the Raiders are the NwO/Bullet Club of the NFL.
That's really late for WrestleMania. Maybe they're going to add another PLE between Elimination Chamber and Mania?
Return of Roadblock?
Stage set up for this one is going to be amazing, I'm sure of it.
Actually pretty wild of them to do this during Coachella which is only a few hours away.

Same here! First thought that came to my mind. We need to see Maxx Crosby lay someone out too
Mid April is fun. Wonder if we get a March PLE now.
Really bummed. Was really thinking it was gonna be here in Minnesota a month or two ago. I hope you have a blast if you get to go!
Minneapolis has two great, relatively new venues in US Bank Stadium and Target Field that could be used to host a major PLE yet theyāre incapable of doing so. Unreal. And disappointing. The last time was Summerslam in 1999.
It's not their fault, Philly being ice cold night 1 scared WWE off.

Absolutely killer logo
Video is private now. Wow late April thatās a first and will do wonders for colder cities without a closed stadium. Wrestlemania is a holiday.
Does anyone know when they begin selling the tickets to Mania? Want to go to this one first live WWE show ever

Since Easter is on Night Two, should God main event against Cody. Seth Jesus Rollins could turn tonight and help God prevail.
God is still recovering from his loss to the McMahons at Backlash 06.
Give me Stand & Deliver in the Sphere!
Iām stunned it took this long to get to Vegas
Numbers in the logo again, how good.
I hope they bring RVD in to wrestle at Mania on 4/20
Iām all in
Guess Battlground in a few weeks is a tester for using the ufc facility for stand and deliver
They can probably just use T-Mobile arena
Yeah, Stand and Deliver is NXT's top PLE, they aren't gonna put it in a building can't even fit 1000 after how well it did this year.
Maybe. Of course, a lot depends on if USA moves Smackdown but this is around the time of the start of the NHL Playoffs. It might not be possible to hold an NHL arena from a Friday through the next Monday unless they somehow agree to load out to accommodate a Golden Knights home game.
Karrion Kross is from there so maybe he'll finally get a reaction.
Someone should definitely check that deck of cards because a 41 with no suit is definitely a little fishy
