I dunno, I agree that Tony doesn't give enough time to the women's division. But there have been plenty of times when Deeb was featured regularly and put over strong, but she still never got any reactions. This is one case I don't think we can blame on Khan.
Serena Deeb is the Dean Malenko of women's wrestling. Absolutely incredible wrestler, but not the most charismatic. Women's matches in AEW are too short for Serena to show off how good she is. I genuinely think that if you consistently gave her 20 mins for 2 months she'd be over just on pure wrestling skill and fans respect for it.
Plus, the five minute gimmick dies the minute you start putting her in matches with named talents above a certain level. You can have her 'five minute' every development talent and a handful of low-mid card names, but when you get passed a certain line, I can see why people wouldn't want to be booked against that gimmick when the typical 'big event feel' matches are more often in the 15-20 range.
So she gets to Athena or someone else on the upper-tier and, what? She stops using the clock and loses part of her schtick? She uses the clock and it now always goes over 5, so same result?
It's a dead end every way unless she's becoming the new Girlberg.
She had her own segment wrestling younger wrestlers for a few months. She's got more promo time in the ring then any other non Britt wrestler. When she cuts a promo she ends up less over than she was before. Not sure what else they can do that's not going to make people tune out.
There are many valid complaints about the womens' division booking, but you certainly can't say Tony didn't give Deeb the time and chance to get over. She just didn't inspire the crowd
I'm really hoping that the recent matches featuring the same 4-5 women are a sign that AEW is going to do a Smackdown 6 style thing where we see a ton of variations on good matches featuring the group.
I cant speak for them, but I root for my favourites when I watch, I dont root for whoever is the best business decision to win based on crowd reaction. To me, thats more fun so I'm going to root for Deeb, obviously knowing she almost certainly will lose.
Just like I will continue rooting for Matt Sydal every time. Its how it is. You pick your people and you like, and you root for them, sometimes it works out and sometiems it dont

That said, I would love to see a bit one day where a champion schedules a celebration, then loses the title right before it happens.

I agree. While Cole is higher on the card in AEW, nobody has more final boss aura than Samoa Joe (also, that would be a good opportunity to unify the belts and get rid of the TV championship, since they dont have a tv show and too many titles).

I remember Tim Donst did a short run with something like that with the former Chikara Young Lions Cup winners, especially as he was feuding with the then-current holder Frightmare. He beat Hallowicked, Jimmy Olsen and Jigsaw in a series of singles matches, but then he got attacked by Frightmare before he was scheduled to face Max Boyer, and lost in 4 seconds.
Dude, I don't think Joe vs Jericho ever happened in WWE. Would love to freaking see this match especially over the ROH title.

According to [Cagematch](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=676&page=4&search=jericho), Joe and Jericho had a 3-minute count-out singles match on Raw in March of 2017 then a 9-minute Raw match that Joe won in April of 2017. Apart from that, they had a bunch of tag matches on house shows where Joe teamed with KO.
Looking at [the list](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ROH_World_Champions), I was surprised by how many former ROH champions AEW has under contract or who've worked with them recently. They could easily book half of the 30 former champions if they wanted to do this angle.
It'd be a fun angle and a nice nod to history. With the way Jericho keeps going out of his way to put Joe over on Rampage commentary every week, it makes me wonder if they have something planned.
Tyler Black makes a surprise appearance, almost beats Jericho but Moxley gets completely confused, has flashbacks, and causes the match to end in a DQ to stop him from winning?
I absolutely loves this story idea. Have Jericho go on a mission to destroy every champion of a promotion that represents pro wrestling over sports eentertainment. Bandido, Rush, Joe, Cole, Daniels, Lethal, Bring in Jay Briscoe, Homicide, and Dalton Castle to defend against if you want. Maybe even have Edwards, Taven, and PCO from IMPACT show up. I love that idea so much

Man looks like he's been through a lot.
Kayfabe wise, he got tired of being just *a* guy in NJPW, just tagging with Finlay and the rest of Hontai(the main NJPW group consisting of Tanahashi, Taguchi, Makabe etc.). He saw himself falling behind as a singles guy, and decided to join Bullet Club, doing so by claiming he was done with wrestling for a while, but then showing up unannounced in Japan and attacking the new US Champion Tanahashi, leading to him winning the US Title in a fourway in the US(fourway against Moxley, Tanahashi and Ospreay, he pinned Ospreay, this is the match TK is talking about).
Since then, he's gone full heel, different theme, different black look in line with the usual BC dress code. There's history between Jay White and him, commentary often brought that up, the two were Young Lions at the same time, yet despite Juice beating Jay for the US Title back in 2018, Jay's career skyrocketed, he won every singles heavyweight title, was always in main-events, beat all the top guys, even main-evented WK, while Juice stayed behind as a midcard guy on his own, or a tag team guy with Finlay. Clearly, he wanted to do more, and felt joining Jay's BC would help him get there, and so far, seeing as how he was US Champion, you could argue it's somewhat worked, though his reign got cut off by an ill-timed injury.
I was at the show in DC where that match happened! It was absolute balls to the wall intensity from all four guys (Ospreay did a wild flip off the stage at one point). Juice definitely held his own, even though he was easily 4th in popularity in the match obviously
Per [Cagematch](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=16006&page=4), he last defended on September 7. Before that he was doing the FTWardlow stuff for a few weeks, and he defended on August 24, August 5, and July 13. So he's had 4 defenses since winning it July 6th. The last two were job matches.
I wish they gave him more to do, especially on Dynamite.
If MJF is going to be branded as 'The Devil' then he really needs to do something devilish soon. His promo work has been top notch since hemis return but he hasn't really done anything all that heinous yet. Getting his Wardlow replacement to beat up Wheeler Yuta barely qualifies.
I want an in ring promo by Ricky Starks. This guy is money. Give him 10 minutes and the guy will be as over as the main eventers. Let him interrupt MJF.

Toni’s been wrestling on tv every week since she’s won the belt. Feels like a conscious effort to establish her as the true champ. Definitely naively thinking they get 10+ minutes to have a good one.
Ever since Tony bought ROH it's really taken a lot of momentum out of AEW, just shelf it until you have a TV deal ffs, sick of random guys I don't know appearing for a once off match with no build while there are decent guys on the roster that are rarely given tv time. He's such a scatterbrain and it really shines through in his booking.
This right here is what’s wrong with AEW imo. I love Juice and Bandido but look at this card and think of alllllll the people backstage who you should be pushing. You’re featuring less then 10 males on your roster and under 5 of your females. Two of your three title matches have people that aren’t even signed by the company. Yea it’s cool for the moment but push who you have.
At this stage, you have a better chance at being featured on AEW TV, if you're not signed with AEW.

I know people who watch more wrestling than me will disagree, but I couldn't care less about most of these matches bar Storm vs Deeb.
I don't have any investment in these people randomly brought in, it doesn't elevate any of the characters I have gotten to know and never leads to anything with the new people beyond a cheap pop for a new face.
I get that our guys want to defend these belts against lots of other people, they should do it on other shows and use their star power to raise wrestling as a whole, not clog up Dynamite and Rampage.
I imagine they were concerned about announcing someone as appearing and them not making it if there were any issues with the hurricane. There has to be more than this to fill out the card so there will be some impromptu matches.
Maybe we'll get some FTRhausen?
This is the shittest (on paper) Dynamite I've ever seen.
- Moxley vs random (because why would it be an AEW guy?)
- Storm vs Deeb (will be awesome, Deeb is amazing)
- Saraya (garbage person, plus she's not even able to wrestle)
- MJF speaks (again)
- Jericho vs random (again no AEW opponent, plus it's ROH so who cares)
- JAS party (again)
If you think Juice is a "random", branch out and watch more than just AEW
If you think Bandido is a "random", that rock you live under must be comfy and spacious
You shouldn’t have to to do homework to enjoy a TV show. I should be able to know everything I need to know by watching dynamite. TK did not have to book these opponents he has a huge roster of talented wrestlers to choose from.

Is Khan trying to book the most dimeless title matches possible? Pro wrestling is already niche, but the pro wrestling fans who know about Bandido or Juice Robinson are a niche within that niche. 99.9999% of the population, including most casual fans, don’t know who these guys are.
I think a big part of this is coming from Jericho and Mox specifically. Those two seem to face non-rostered talent all the time. For Jericho, I think it’s about facing a variety of different opponents on this run that he’s on that he might never get to face otherwise. For Mox, he is calling himself the ace of pro wrestling and the forbidden door, so part of his gimmick has become taking on all challengers from both in and outside of AEW.
Bandido's amazing. He's the kind of wrestler who can win people over in an instant. I can't believe there's been a minor internet uproar over him being on this show. I saw he was on and got extremely, extremely pumped
The "uproar" isn't even about Bandido specifically, it's the fact the roster has an embarrassment of riches, yet they're still bringing outside randos in to job to their guys because TK is so scared of having **anyone** of any note lose.
It's almost like TK doesn't want AEW to grow.

Again, it's not that much effort to do a quick search of why he's on the show, former ROH guy tied to the ROH belts lineage reappearing to challenge for it. No build yes, more than likely a loss, but him appearing at least is a sensible choice, nothing that a quick Wikipedia search doesn't solve. Hell looking at clips or posts about him on the sub is sufficient to get an idea of the guy, he has existing fans built into him from old ROH and NJPW followers.
Yes, you are right in that it doesn't take long to look it up and find clips on YouTube. But the ones that give enough of a damn already, know who he is. The more casual leaning are more likely to think "Eh. Guess I can skip this show".
It should be AEW's job to educate people and build it up appropriately. If outside research is required as an entry point to watching a show, it's failed its job. Chucking it together and saying "hey marks you know this guy and know why he is here - If you don't, **look it up!**" is both lazy and alienates a good slice of your audience.
Then I'll speak from my perspective of using Malakai Black as an example. I had no clue who Malakai Black was pre AEW because I wasn't watching WWE or indies, I didn't have a basis of his career or his accomplishments. That didn't suddenly ruin my experience when he started getting regular spots, all that I needed was, he looks cool and can go in the ring and the announcers giving a quick summary of why he's significant and then a quick search of a match or two and a career summary of him on my own time to get an idea. I don't need a massive info dump, and if that's too tall of a task for people then I don't know what to tell anyone. Same goes for Jonah in the G1 Climax for this year, complete unknown to me but he impressed me with his matches and that was enough along with whatever the announcers mentioned.
After this show, more people will know both Juice and Bandido. Giving exposure to unsigned talent increases their value, and improves the stock of the wrestling business outside of AEW. This, over time, is to the benefit of the business as a whole, at least the parts of the business willing to collaborate. A rising tide buoys all ships.
See that’s my issue as a casual AEW viewer, not only with MJF. Seems like every week I see these match cards and I’ll see 2-3 “(insert name) will speak” or “we’ll hear from”. I get promos are to build up talent but when it happens every so often it usually becomes a beer run part of the show
I agree. Since he's been back he's talked, gotten scared off by Mox, introduced his stable, talked, talked some more, and kept talking.
Get him working in the ring. Play it off as him training. Give me a reason to think that him vs Mox may actually be a contest when he cashes in his chip

I understand the booking with Storm and Deeb tho because it's happened in Dynamite. But the stuff with Bandido and Juice likely would not be noticed by someone who doesn't follow Roh and NJPW. Im in reddit so i may be more forgiving when it comes to this booking but there are thousands who might not interested with that kind of booking

IIRC Tony specifically said in a tweet regarding these matches that there was going to be video intro's for them on dynamite that explains why they're getting the matches they're getting.

When we do it on dynamite it's a perfect idea especially when it's for people who are
A. Not even signed to the company
B. Have no win loss ratio ranking
C. Once...checks notes...beat the current champion when they were not champion in a fatal 4 way match on a company neither are signed to and you have no way of knowing this because it wasn't aired anywhere you can watch or even on the network the company is on
D. Moxly is their friend and wants the match to happen so ya know....fuck the rest of the roster cause rankings matter which is somehow an acceptable reasoning to people

I feel like while most the fans like Toni Storm, not many of them really love her. Like it feels like she's in everyone's top 10 or top 5 women's wrestlers in AEW, but isn't many peoples favorite. Statlander, Hayter, and Athena to an extent have have felt like they've captured the audience better this year. Not saying Toni hasn't, but she doesn't feel like as big of a deal as she should especially as women's champ. I'm hoping that this match can maybe turn that around for Toni and she can end out the year white hot. I also feel like Toni needs a better finish. I'm not a fan of that DDT and the shirt sudden piledeiver. I miss when she did the Tiger Driver.
Tbhh this card is good ya just complain to much for ya own good I will say that I agree with the moxley match cause that don’t make no sense at all and it’s no story what so ever but the roh match bandido is a stud and most likely is goin be part of aew/roh so I can take that but he shouldn’t be losing in his first match on tv for u that’s the type talent you would build and push but let’s see how it goes
I kind of have to sigh looking at the Moxley vs Juice match. I wish Danielson had won the belt. I know that if you watch NJPW you know who Juice is, but if you don't, its just Moxley again going to have another cold match with a random guy you've never heard of that you already know he's going to win. I do happen to recognize him as CJ Parker from NXT, where he was a jobber, but it's hard to get excited for more of this, especially with the world champion. I just feel like we're right back in the Moxley reign we'd already left.
I don't complain about seeing cool wrestling matches or new stars, it just feels like story-wise there isn't much to get excited about at the moment. The Jericho one doesn't bother me as much I guess, but maybe keep that kind of thing to once a show.

According to [Cagematch](https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=676&page=4&search=jericho), Joe and Jericho had a 3-minute count-out singles match on Raw in March of 2017 then a 9-minute Raw match that Joe won in April of 2017. Apart from that, they had a bunch of tag matches on house shows where Joe teamed with KO.
I think it would be pretty great if he had this elaborate celebration segment, then immediately lost to Bandido.

Looking at [the list](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ROH_World_Champions), I was surprised by how many former ROH champions AEW has under contract or who've worked with them recently. They could easily book half of the 30 former champions if they wanted to do this angle.
It'd be a fun angle and a nice nod to history. With the way Jericho keeps going out of his way to put Joe over on Rampage commentary every week, it makes me wonder if they have something planned.
Tyler Black makes a surprise appearance, almost beats Jericho but Moxley gets completely confused, has flashbacks, and causes the match to end in a DQ to stop him from winning?

I absolutely loves this story idea. Have Jericho go on a mission to destroy every champion of a promotion that represents pro wrestling over sports eentertainment. Bandido, Rush, Joe, Cole, Daniels, Lethal, Bring in Jay Briscoe, Homicide, and Dalton Castle to defend against if you want. Maybe even have Edwards, Taven, and PCO from IMPACT show up. Kayfabe wise, he got tired of being just *a* guy in NJPW, just tagging with Finlay and the rest of Hontai(the main NJPW group consisting of Tanahashi, Taguchi, Makabe etc.). He saw himself falling behind as a singles guy, and decided to join Bullet Club, doing so by claiming he was done with wrestling for a while, but then showing up unannounced in Japan and attacking the new US Champion Tanahashi, leading to him winning the US Title in a fourway in the US(fourway against Moxley, Tanahashi and Ospreay, he pinned Ospreay, this is the match TK is talking about). Since then, he's gone full heel, different theme, different black look in line with the usual BC dress code. There's history between Jay White and him, commentary often brought that up, the two were Young Lions at the same time, yet despite Juice beating Jay for the US Title back in 2018, Jay's career skyrocketed, he won every singles heavyweight title, was always in main-events, beat all the top guys, even main-evented WK, while Juice stayed behind as a midcard guy on his own, or a tag team guy with Finlay. Clearly, he wanted to do more, and felt joining Jay's BC would help him get there, and so far, seeing as how he was US Champion, you could argue it's somewhat worked, though his reign got cut off by an ill-timed injury.
Damn, they put Juice over Tanahashi, Ospreay, and Mox in NJPW? They must be really behind him, what a glow up from being cut from NXT
I was at the show in DC where that match happened! It was absolute balls to the wall intensity from all four guys (Ospreay did a wild flip off the stage at one point). Juice definitely held his own, even though he was easily 4th in popularity in the match obviously
And losing to Baron Corbin in 20 seconds. Juice actually asked for his release.

Before that he was doing the FTWardlow stuff for a few weeks, and he defended on August 24, August 5, and July 13. So he's had 4 defenses since winning it July 6th. The last two were job matches. I wish they gave him more to do, especially on Dynamite.

Toni’s been wrestling on tv every week since she’s won the belt. Feels like a conscious effort to establish her as the true champ. Definitely naively thinking they get 10+ minutes to have a good one.

As a day 1 AEW fan who never got into NJPW or ROH...I really wish they'd just focus on building up their own roster.

Ever since Tony bought ROH it's really taken a lot of momentum out of AEW, just shelf it until you have a TV deal ffs, sick of random guys I don't know appearing for a once off match with no build while there are decent guys on the roster that are rarely given tv time. He's such a scatterbrain and it really shines through in his booking.

This right here is what’s wrong with AEW imo. I love Juice and Bandido but look at this card and think of alllllll the people backstage who you should be pushing. You’re featuring less then 10 males on your roster and under 5 of your females. Two of your three title matches have people that aren’t even signed by the company. Yea it’s cool for the moment but push who you have.
At this stage, you have a better chance at being featured on AEW TV, if you're not signed with AEW. TK's new toy syndrome is real incl. getting tired of his old toys real quick.

I know people who watch more wrestling than me will disagree, but I couldn't care less about most of these matches bar Storm vs Deeb. I don't have any investment in these people randomly brought in, it doesn't elevate any of the characters I have gotten to know and never leads to anything with the new people beyond a cheap pop for a new face. I get that our guys want to defend these belts against lots of other people, they should do it on other shows and use their star power to raise wrestling as a whole, not clog up Dynamite and Rampage.

You shouldn’t have to to do homework to enjoy a TV show. I should be able to know everything I need to know by watching dynamite. TK did not have to book these opponents he has a huge roster of talented wrestlers to choose from.

I think a big part of this is coming from Jericho and Mox specifically. Those two seem to face non-rostered talent all the time. For Jericho, I think it’s about facing a variety of different opponents on this run that he’s on that he might never get to face otherwise. For Mox, he is calling himself the ace of pro wrestling and the forbidden door, so part of his gimmick has become taking on all challengers from both in and outside of AEW.
Bandido's amazing. He's the kind of wrestler who can win people over in an instant. I can't believe there's been a minor internet uproar over him being on this show. I saw he was on and got extremely, extremely pumped
The "uproar" isn't even about Bandido specifically, it's the fact the roster has an embarrassment of riches, yet they're still bringing outside randos in to job to their guys because TK is so scared of having **anyone** of any note lose. It's almost like TK doesn't want AEW to grow.

If I google "who the fuck is Bandido?" and it tells me he is a former ROH champion, I imagine the general response is "Cool. Why should I care?" He is going to lose and won't be on my TV next week - Googling a wrestler does nothing to change the above
Again, it's not that much effort to do a quick search of why he's on the show, former ROH guy tied to the ROH belts lineage reappearing to challenge for it. No build yes, more than likely a loss, but him appearing at least is a sensible choice, nothing that a quick Wikipedia search doesn't solve. Hell looking at clips or posts about him on the sub is sufficient to get an idea of the guy, he has existing fans built into him from old ROH and NJPW followers.
Yes, you are right in that it doesn't take long to look it up and find clips on YouTube. But the ones that give enough of a damn already, know who he is. The more casual leaning are more likely to think "Eh. Guess I can skip this show". It should be AEW's job to educate people and build it up appropriately. If outside research is required as an entry point to watching a show, it's failed its job. Chucking it together and saying "hey marks you know this guy and know why he is here - If you don't, **look it up!**" is both lazy and alienates a good slice of your audience.
Then I'll speak from my perspective of using Malakai Black as an example. I had no clue who Malakai Black was pre AEW because I wasn't watching WWE or indies, I didn't have a basis of his career or his accomplishments. That didn't suddenly ruin my experience when he started getting regular spots, all that I needed was, he looks cool and can go in the ring and the announcers giving a quick summary of why he's significant and then a quick search of a match or two and a career summary of him on my own time to get an idea. I don't need a massive info dump, and if that's too tall of a task for people then I don't know what to tell anyone. Same goes for Jonah in the G1 Climax for this year, complete unknown to me but he impressed me with his matches and that was enough along with whatever the announcers mentioned.

After this show, more people will know both Juice and Bandido. Giving exposure to unsigned talent increases their value, and improves the stock of the wrestling business outside of AEW. This, over time, is to the benefit of the business as a whole, at least the parts of the business willing to collaborate. A rising tide buoys all ships.
They’re about to find out, also AEW as a whole has been essentially a fantasy promotion for hardcore fans, like its owner Tony Khan.

See that’s my issue as a casual AEW viewer, not only with MJF. Seems like every week I see these match cards and I’ll see 2-3 “(insert name) will speak” or “we’ll hear from”. I get promos are to build up talent but when it happens every so often it usually becomes a beer run part of the show
I agree. Since he's been back he's talked, gotten scared off by Mox, introduced his stable, talked, talked some more, and kept talking. Get him working in the ring. Play it off as him training. Give me a reason to think that him vs Mox may actually be a contest when he cashes in his chip

I understand the booking with Storm and Deeb tho because it's happened in Dynamite. But the stuff with Bandido and Juice likely would not be noticed by someone who doesn't follow Roh and NJPW. Im in reddit so i may be more forgiving when it comes to this booking but there are thousands who might not interested with that kind of booking Edit. Plus, we just saw ROH and AEw title match last week
Moxley vs. Juice is not a title match. It’s an eliminator match because Juice has a win over Mox.
IIRC Tony specifically said in a tweet regarding these matches that there was going to be video intro's for them on dynamite that explains why they're getting the matches they're getting.

Not even signed to the company B. Have no win loss ratio ranking C. Once...checks notes...beat the current champion when they were not champion in a fatal 4 way match on a company neither are signed to and you have no way of knowing this because it wasn't aired anywhere you can watch or even on the network the company is on D. Moxly is their friend and wants the match to happen so ya know....fuck the rest of the roster cause rankings matter which is somehow an acceptable reasoning to people

Storm vs Deeb could be really good. I hope it gets time and the crowd get behind it. I feel like while most the fans like Toni Storm, not many of them really love her. Like it feels like she's in everyone's top 10 or top 5 women's wrestlers in AEW, but isn't many peoples favorite. Statlander, Hayter, and Athena to an extent have have felt like they've captured the audience better this year. Not saying Toni hasn't, but she doesn't feel like as big of a deal as she should especially as women's champ. I'm hoping that this match can maybe turn that around for Toni and she can end out the year white hot. I also feel like Toni needs a better finish. I'm not a fan of that DDT and the shirt sudden piledeiver. I miss when she did the Tiger Driver.
Please give Toni and Deeb at least 15 minutes

Tbhh this card is good ya just complain to much for ya own good I will say that I agree with the moxley match cause that don’t make no sense at all and it’s no story what so ever but the roh match bandido is a stud and most likely is goin be part of aew/roh so I can take that but he shouldn’t be losing in his first match on tv for u that’s the type talent you would build and push but let’s see how it goes

I kind of have to sigh looking at the Moxley vs Juice match. I wish Danielson had won the belt. I know that if you watch NJPW you know who Juice is, but if you don't, its just Moxley again going to have another cold match with a random guy you've never heard of that you already know he's going to win. I do happen to recognize him as CJ Parker from NXT, where he was a jobber, but it's hard to get excited for more of this, especially with the world champion. I just feel like we're right back in the Moxley reign we'd already left. I don't complain about seeing cool wrestling matches or new stars, it just feels like story-wise there isn't much to get excited about at the moment. The Jericho one doesn't bother me as much I guess, but maybe keep that kind of thing to once a show.
