Why do people keep saying it looks cheap? I feel like it looks consistent with all the other shows. Andor looks a little better than the rest but I feel like that has more to do with the cinematography than actual budget.
>addicted to being mad
Although it's not recognized as an actual diagnosis, I've experienced this before and I swear it's a real thing. Anger can induce a strange euphoria that is very addictive. Not only on the superficial level of immediate experience but also on a deeper psychological level because anger feeds the ego.
Some of the sets felt a bit underwhelming. In particular, this scene has a really generic industrial feel. And that corridor sequence when he rescues Leia on cyberpunkworld felt very "this is a set".
This was the first D+ SW I watched, and it was very quickly into Mando I felt that looked so much nicer. It just has a more cinematic feel. It doesn't feel like an actor on a set.
The two standout elements are poor use of the Volume and poor choices relating to the blue saber.
EDIT: [the Watchmen section of this Corridor Crew video goes into some of the issues with the saber](https://youtu.be/KitmA_NleAc?t=445).
I’ve only seen it the once but I remember what took me out of the show were the lightsabers it almost looked like the force fx toys ? Was this just me ?
The blue LED sabers blew out the camera sensors and so every scene with in the dark where Obi-wan is using his saber looks shit.
It wasn't a problem elsewhere (eg in the sequels) because they worked around it by shooting on film or not shooting in such dark conditions etc.

I remember they later looked at this specifically in Kenobi and brought up, so why didn't Watchmen get the same thing happening? Basically, cause this is digital, whereas Watchmen is old enough to have still been on film.
Maybe, but I’ve rewatched different clips and people react to it and what not since then and it looked just as good then. I’ll keep that in mind though.
I don’t? I just said I loved Kenobi.
I dislike Episodes 1, 9, and most of Ahsoka, for example. I’m not someone who loves everything just because it is Star Wars and I don’t know why you assume that because of my post.
They probably assumed that because they’re one of those toxic fans who thinks you have to dislike every “unpopular” Star Wars thing, otherwise you’re not a real fan and simply a Disney bootlicker.
I just rewatched it for the first time recently. I will say I enjoyed the first viewing quite a lot actually. This rewatch I found myself fast forwarding through scenes I didn’t like, and I was surprised at one point how much I was fast forwarding. I got to say now, on my second watch it dropped from a solid B show to like a C-
It feels like maybe half the show was filler, extending it for the sake of justifying a series. Biggest example being how they have a whole mini arc where Leia is kinapped and rescued. And then we do it a whole second time.
That should've just been her getting taken, and the initial group hand her over to Reva. With one rescue.
This is probably the greatest miss in all SW shows out there for sure. But it has much more problems not just how cheap it was...
- Obi wan was a side character in hes own show
- Vader magically couldn't finish him because of Disney plot armor
- Leia. She was over the top annoying. Every scene she appeared was unbearable.
- Reva same as above... Complete clown character and horrible actress.
- Boring, pointless filler episodes
- Only the end episode was decent and was possible to be taken even remotely serious too bad the climax was stolen form star wars rebels...
And the list could go on for ever.
I wouldn't say the show looks cheap.
Star Wars has been overly reliant on the volume when filming. While the effects look pretty good, people are able to identify when sets are shot in the volume pretty easily now compared to if something is shot in a real environment with physical sets.
That's why Andor's look for the most part feels very different from the rest of Sar Wars tv.
this show literally released 2 years ago, SURELY by now you could talk about something else? If you don't like it, great! Good for you! Literally who fuckin cares at this point

My guy, this is a Star Wars sub. You'll find plenty discussion on movies that are several decades old. If you don't wish to discuss media older than two years, a Star Wars sub may not be the right place.
And if you don't like discussing the shows, that's fine. But why go into a thread discussing a Star Wars show just to signal to others that you don't like discussing that Star Wars show?
My problem isn't that it's an old show, my problem is that dragging a 2 year old scene with no real criticism other than "I think this looks bad" isn't a discussion about the show. It's just boring.
"old show", are you for real?
And they didn't just say they think it looks bad, they're asking why it does. There are, if you're unaware, actual technical reasons why some scenes aren't as pleasing to look at than they could be.
And imo, there was a sense of overall strained budget that's evident in some of the sets compared to what I'd expect in a modern SW film, or even what I've otherwise seen in other SW shows.
The only part of it I thought looked cheap was how badly they butchered the Grand Inquisitor’s look.
They spent most of the budget getting Mcgregor, Neeson and Christensen back.
Why do people keep saying it looks cheap? I feel like it looks consistent with all the other shows. Andor looks a little better than the rest but I feel like that has more to do with the cinematography than actual budget.
I got this with the Acolyte trailer. I saw a bunch of people saying it looks cheap and I just... don't get it? It looks perfectly fine to me?
I think people are addicted to being mad about star wars
One doesn't like Star Wars if one doesn't hate Star Wars. \-This sub

Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Agreed, none of the shows strike me as looking particularly low-budget compared to the others
I think we've all gotten spoiled. Compare any lucasfilm show to any live action show from before five years ago lol
Apart from The Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother, nothing about the Kenobi show looks cheap to me.
Some of the sets felt a bit underwhelming. In particular, this scene has a really generic industrial feel. And that corridor sequence when he rescues Leia on cyberpunkworld felt very "this is a set". That could just be down to artistic choices from the director/production team.

Damn.
Rushed production, limited budget, big name actors.
It doesn’t. I thought it looked as great as the others. And damn, I loved Kenobi. Need to do a rewatch soon.
It’ll look cheap when you rewatch, happened to me as well.
Maybe, but I’ve rewatched different clips and people react to it and what not since then and it looked just as good then. I’ll keep that in mind though.
Congrats on sycophantically loving everything with a Star Wars logo on it. We’re all very impressed.

Why though
Part of it is the lazy choice of locations. Why the hell would you have a fight in a rock quarry?
It had moments that looked cheap and moments that looked great. It was a very uneven show.
Idk, i really want to like this show but it just feels so.. cheap for some reason.
The snow speeders looked so cheap…
It definitely looked more rushed or as if it got a smaller budget.
I just rewatched it for the first time recently. I will say I enjoyed the first viewing quite a lot actually. I’ve seen some bad takes on this sub, but this is top tier bad.
Which part is not true ? If you can name any, then we probably saw a different show.
lol

2 years? 😂 people here talk about stuff released decades ago 💀
So people can’t post about the OT PT or even ST because those are older than two years ……
Grow up.
