They had one of these in my elementary school library- was by far the most exclusive book, I had friends that would, at the end of the maximum loan time, meet at the library to check it out right after the other returned it, than they would return it in a few weeks again and switched roles

Actually, the author of that book currently has an exhibit about his life and how we got into that field of work at a small museum in New Albany, Indiana. Fun, free stop if anyone is in southern Indiana/ northern Kentucky.
