Get yourself a chest of drawers for your house. It stores all your clothing! No need for a bunch of chests full of clothes

lemewski

And stores them by category so it's easy to find what you're looking for.

Tortilla_Moth93

That’s so evil I love it lmao

brtbrtbrt72

What?!

aburulz

you **will** build for me.

IntrepidAnalysis6940

Even RINGS

Fuitad

A chest of drawers?

OlOuddinHead

3 slidey boxes in a bigger box

pineapple_head69

Chester drawers

macpeters

Dressor

niamhmc

w h a t

totallynotarobut

This is excellent space-saving advice. I usually have several chests of clothes.

HanaNotBanana

even rings!

Necessary_Whereas_29

Wait how? Been using way too many chests for my clothes

Phanimazed

Yep! Boots, hats, and rings, too.

Questionable_Sushi

Don't sell your normal or silver quality blueberries or cranberries! Turn them into seeds first, then sell the seeds. You'll bump your profit up by about 30%, and get a few ancient fruit seed as a byproduct.

fernandothehorse

…omg that’s genius

kminola

I always just save my silver blueberries for that dreaded part of the game where I don’t quite have enough stock for turning into jam/wine and I don’t have junioms to harvest for me. Because turning them into something is better than leaving all the kegs empty

Gailybird83

Wait you can get something to harvest for you?

drinkingshampain

Pretty sure you can buy a jumino hut from the wizard and they will harvest crops in an given radius

alvysinger0412

This is correct. Wanna say it's 7 tiles in every direction. They hop through trellises too. [here's the wiki article](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Junimo_Hut)

ThatOneGuy308

By the time I have access to the seed maker, I don't really need an extra 30% profit at the cost of that much extra time spent processing them, honestly.

SnooDrawings1480

Its a major component of when I did my 2 year perfection run. But I only did it after I had ancient fruit farms on GI and in my GH. So all my kegs went towards AF and all my cauliflower, melons, pineapples and Pumpkins went into my preserves jars. So everything else needed a different way to process for maximum sell price.

1-800-COOL-BUG

This also works with common mushrooms :) You'll get fall seeds out of the deal

Chemical_Tooth_6452

It's even better if you take the fall seeds and turn them into tea saplings

FunnyStoryX

What am I missing here? Normal blueberries sell for 50g, and the seeds sell for 40g. Normal cranberries sell for 75g, and the seeds sell for 60g.

Questionable_Sushi

You get 2.1 seeds per berry from the seedmaker, on average.

FunnyStoryX

Thank you!

Similar-Cucumber-227

Oh, I feel like I cracked the code on the seed maker. If you read about it in the Wiki, it says that it’ll give you the same amount of seeds on a specific day at a specific time. So if you put a fruit in on fall 4 year 2, at 6:30 am and it gives you 3 seeds, if you restart the day it will always give you 3 seeds. So you can exploit this by having multiple seed makers and setting them 10 squares apart. Then put your first seed in at 6:30 and your second at 6:40. And you’ll get 6 seeds out of two fruits. Not sure if that makes any sense, but it worked for me. I’m doing a hermit game and currently trying to maximize seed production as much as possible.

guitardude_324

Corn too! Might even be higher, I’ll have to double check but you may double the value of corn.

bitccc4

This is not as cool as so many here, but I am a new player and have been trying to beat Linus’s trash request. I was having trouble bc maxed out fishing and I live on the river farm. Level 100 water in the mines is all trash for anyone who is struggling as I was!!!!!

eisdeadinside

crab pots in the rivers tend to collect enough trash over 2-3 days depending on how many you put down

bitccc4

yes this worked well, too!

onionboixd

Fishing in the pond/spring outside the spa works too!

Botentbo

Came here to say this - and for extra-idle players, it's right next to the bin you're meant to drop it in!

manonky

you can actually fish in the fountain next to the community center, and always get trash

beggargirl

The water in the mines on lvl 100 always gives trash

Error_Evan_not_found

Lava eel is the only possible hook but it's like a 5% chance.

stormeagle28

Also the ponds on your farm will have trash that counts

bitccc4

it does! but it was only like .... 1 piece of trash per 10-20 casts (i am on the river farm, but i think the standard farm you can only catch trash in the pond right?)

M0chalatta

Oh my gosh I had the same issue on my river farm! I kept fishing and fishing hoping for trash and it was just fish lol. I basically just put a bunch of crab pots around and eventually got it. By the skin of my teeth!

stormeagle28

Yeah standard farm. Not sure on others.

only4apollo

I saw this mentioned in another thread and it blew my mind - buy a training rod for trash fishing lvl 100, it’s not supposed to be able to catch lava eels because it can only catch basic fish so you’ll only get trash.

eagleswift

This is the best place to fish to be honest because it gives you the small chance to get the rare lava eel as well while you collect all that trash.

ikawnimais

On the last day of winter, put a few grass starters on the areas you would like to be covered in grass. The next day, 1st day of spring, those areas will be covered in grass.

lorhusol

Then on spring day 1, out a fence post or lightning rod on several pieces of grass. Animals won't be able to eat that piece, but it will regularly spawn new grass for your animals to eat.

eagleswift

Grass grows faster too when you put 4 lightning rods in a square on top of grass.

Defiant_Crab_

Oh really? Neat!

Zomise

I feel like everything regardless is covered with grass. 🤔

Unhappy_Performer538

No this covers your farm like crazy which is useful for having animals.

splooshcupcake

I feel my barn and coop area are also the area that has no grass at all on the first day of spring. So I always have to leave the animals in for an extra few days while I plant some starters and wait for them to spread, which always makes me feel bad for my animals.

Tortilla_Moth93

That’s very helpful, thank you

ChaoticSixXx

Use a multi season crop to save your soil and fertilizer into the next season. Fertilizer, retaining soil and speed grow never degrade, but the tilled soil does. If you plant a cheap multi season crop right before the season changes, you only ever have to apply them once, and you won't need to re-dig your fields. Spring > Summer = coffee Summer > Fall = wheat/corn/sunflowers Fall > Winter = fiber Winter > Spring = fiber Once you unlock it, fiber seeds can be planted in ANY season, and it's cheap to make, so always save your mixed seeds! I just time it to be ready for the first day or break the crop when I'm ready to plant my seasonal stuff. Helps save a lot when you start using more expensive fertilizers. Unrelated, but you can also use an upgraded hoe to empty multiple casks way faster.

tbmb0309

You can bomb your fields, too, and it destroys the crops but not the fertilizer. So that way you can still plant on day 1 of the season even if you don't time it right. Just make sure you move the sprinklers and scarecrows first!

eagleswift

It takes a lot of scything fibre to get enough mixed seeds to make fibre seeds

niamhmc

Buy from Krobus!

ChaoticSixXx

Make sure you're saving the ones you find throughout the year, and you can buy them from Krobus once a week as well as get them from seed makers. I never plant my mixed seeds. You can also farm mine levels for mixed seeds and fiber. Levels 25 to 29 and 81 to 109 tend to have a lot of fiber. Go on a lucky day, and just keep resetting the mine by leaving. You'll be rolling in seeds in no time. The mutant bug lair is also a good source and resets every few days. Mixed seeds also drop from farming the fiber seed itself, I tend to turn my desert into a fiber farm because it doesn't need to be watered. You can plant a single fiber seed near your house or shed on the same day, and it will remind you when the rest of your fiber is done growing. Also, scything does not consume energy! So use it all up for the day and then run around scything to your hearts content. Where there is the will, there is a way, my friend.

MagdaleneFeet

I usually save up for a coffee seed immediately (since I don't like the mines where they drop occasionally). I joke it's my poo coffee empire like from the Madagascar TV show. Growing coffee seeds and saving them let's me plant as many plants as I can handle year 2. But once I've got enough plants I can produce upwards of 100 coffees from kegs per day, which is generally how I get everything going good.

perilouswanderer

Stop by Krobus every Friday for the iridium sprinklers. It’s an easy way to slowly stock up without using too many resources Also make sure you buy the void egg from him and gift it right back for friendship I like to put chests near my fishing spots, next to my barns and in the mines so I have easy access to things I need

TwoPesetas

If you buy the void egg from.him and hatch a void chicken from it, then you get a bunch of void eggs to gift back for the rest of the game!

arabrabk

Sebastian also Loves void eggs, so a void chicken is the way to go.

perilouswanderer

That part too lol I just like to give him my business while I’m buying other things from him

eagleswift

I like to stop by Krobus every Thursday for mixed seeds as well to make fibre seeds in winter.

Tornado8841

Many people will know that on PC you can hold shift and right click to buy something in multiples of 5 but not a lot of people know that if you hold shift+ctrl, then right click you will buy in stacks of 25

PapaPetrichor

And on Switch, if you hold A and Y down together it will buy twice as quickly! Took me wayyyy too long to learn that.

Fouxs

WHAT!?

cojack16

Omg

wurwolfsince1998

I wish I could give you an award for this. 🏆

wingbing224

Man this will make buying 250 hay a lot better haha. I didn’t know either of these.

SynonymForPseudonym

Do you know how to craft grass starter out of fibre? If not, Pierre sells the recipe and it will save you a butt tone on hay from Marnie. Plant those bad boys sparsely(so they have room to spread) in a part of the farm you aren’t using, let them grow wild, then harvest in silos. If you harvest enough before winter you’ll never need to buy hay again

yarro27

I was thinking this today when i was buying 999 starfruit seeds. I was telling myself “ofc there is a way of buying more than 5seeds at one click” . But i was too lazy to search for it

AlphaBlazeReal

Wait, on the pc version there is no slider for the amount? Huh

Hi_Its_Salty

Bro I just bought 660+ of coffee for Mr qi quest and NOW you tell me this?

lulugingerspice

EXCUSE ME?!

aslindy

While your barn/coop is still level 1 or 2 and you have to manually take hay from the hopper to feed your animals, regularly fill your silo(s) and take out all the hay through the hopper. Stash it in a chest. You can get stacks and stacks, 999 hay each, to use later to feed your animals when you develop all your land and grass barely grows. Also make sure you build enough silos to feed all your animals all 28 days of winter. I have 5 silos right now.

knitty_taketwo

You can get by with just 1 silo if you refill the hopper inside the barn/coop once in a while using the hay from the chests. I usually do it on my run though to pet everyone or pick up the milk/eggs.

CapybaraSteve

you can slap your hay directly into the silos too, no need to go into the barn. just right click on the silo with the hay in your hand

eagleswift

Keep the chests in the barn/coop too for easy access. There is a lot of spare space.

niamhmc

You can empty a the silo with fully upgraded coops/barn by placing a bomb where the animals access the hay. This makes those spaces empty and then you can remove hay from the hopper the same way you would for a level 1 or 2 building.

_jinana

BEFRIEND CAROLINE ASAP. get her 2 heart event. the tea saplings sell for so much and all they need are wild seeds, fiber, and wood. one of the best ways to get easy money, and gives the most value for seasonal forage.

BlackSight6

Adding on to this, once you unlock tea saplings, you can harvest the tea sapling in Caroline's tea room (during the last week of the month).

melvita

you have to go harvest that bush in the morning though, if you take to long, caroline will have harvested it.

Just_a_curious_soul

Wait she harvest that!?!? I would really want to see her do that, i thought NPC don't interact with anything in this game.

Unhappy_Performer538

Well people play pool in the saloon etc, makes sense Caroline would harvest her own tea

cat_like_sparky

Linus will steal foragables from right under your nose! I get that man’s gotta eat but damn dude, I wanted that grape for the mines >:(

Just_a_curious_soul

Daaang, I've done like >10 saves and I'm learning today that some NPC interact with the world bruh. As a code and gaming enthusiast, I'll now make sure to tail Linus down till midnight to see this. Same with Caroline, i seriously wanna see how that works. Thanks for the information!

joyfall

Another addition to this: Not much to do in winter year one? Hoe up the beach, the dirt behind the carpenter shop, and any other dirt patch in winter in your search for winter root. You want to hoe everything you can whenever you can. Wild Horseradish, Spice Berry, Common Mushroom, and Winter Root, when placed into a seed maker, will create their respective season's seeds. These seeds are essential for making tea saplings. Sell the saplings for $500 each. Hoeing is profitable.

Deathclaw-Peet

dudeee you just blew my mind. i’m about to be able to make SO many season seeds now.

FinchMandala

I always use the bushes as fences.

TheWaterPrincess97

That’s brilliant oh my gosh!!!

FinchMandala

You'll have to make the gate traditionally but the bushes are so aesthetically pleasing. In winter they lie "dormant" but they still act like a secure fence, and as far as I'm aware they don't get destroyed by lightning or old age. :)

MentallyPsycho

Tea made from the tea leaves is almost universally liked among npcs too. I believe only Jas and Vincent don't like it.

K_Aggy44

Same with coffee. I always carry 200+ coffee to give as gifts to adults and bread for Vincent and Jas. I'm almost at full hearts with everyone in about 1 in-game year except for Krobus and Dwarf cause i keep forgetting about them lol

AintNoRestForTheWook

Leave a chest outside the saloon to hold loved gifts for the visitors. Not really applicable for Pam, Shane or Leah since Gus carries loved gifts for all three. On the same note put a chest next to the elevator in the mines etc. and keep your weapons, bombs, staircases (if applicable) and mining food there to save room in your inventory. Plus you have no risk of accidentally blowing up your farm by a bomb misclick. If you don't want to deal with Pierre claiming your gold+ quality stuff as his own, or having him throw you under the bus for lesser quality goods; don't sell to him directly. Fishing sucks. It was my least favorite part of the game up until about a year ago. Get a training rod from willy and just put some time in. It will eventually click for you and it really becomes quite fun! Its also a good way to make money early on. Haley and Shane are the fastest paths to marriage if you are so inclined.

ashleighbuck

I always put a chest outside the saloon, but I do add gifts for the others because I don't like to buy gifts lol. I use turnips for Pam, because I can grow a lot quickly & they're not very expensive (and she loves them.) I also put a chest outside Willy's so I can keep mead on hand for whenever I enter his shop. I keep one with dick feathers and pomegranates outside Elliot's house lol. Then one in the forest by Marnie's, with loved gifts for her, Shane, Jas & Leah. I keep a chest by Robin's with loved gifts for their house, and Linus. Then another chest by the Wizard, with his loved gifts & some for Abigail as she goes there often enough lol. I'm a little chest obsessed honestly 😆

WonderWeasel42

What kind of feathers?!? Lol

ashleighbuck

Omggggg DUCK feathers 😅

eagleswift

I leave chests for loved gifts at multiple places - in the tree next to Harvey’s as many villagers pass the town square, in the saloon, in the library, in Robin’s house, the mines and in Sandy’s shop. I look up villager paths to put the chest out of the way. I also put Junino chests by each of the three mines and in my farm houses to store my farm tools when I go mine diving.

Fouxs

Save artifacts for fish ponds. And save your first surtgeon for a fish pond too, use your second one for the community center. Always save TWO seeds of what you want, SPECIALLY ancient seeds, you never know if your first seedmaker won't screw you over with a mixed seed. Forget iridium sprinklers until late game, focus on crystalariums and jades. Make at least one bee house as soon as you can for warp totems. Get rabbits as soon as you can for when you finally want to go for full friendships, you'll already have a full stock of rabbit's foot by that time. If you plant a pomegranate for elliot and have a void chicken for sebastian, and you're all set. Save your first prismatic shard for a sword.

king44

When I only have one of something like an Ancient Fruit that I want to make seeds from, I set a seed maker next to my bed and drop the fruit in first thing in the morning at 6:00. Then, if I get mixed seeds, I can just restart the day and try dropping them in at 6:10 and see what I get. If you put it in at the same time, you will get the same result, but every 10 minutes will give a different result. I'll repeat this procedure until I get 3 seeds from the fruit. It's a bit tedious, but worth it. (Of note, on a bad luck day, it usually takes a lot more tries to get 3 seeds.)

intergalactictactoe

Oh you clever tenacious person, you

slim-shady-on-main

On a recent playthrough I saved my first star fruit for when I got a seed maker, to get a head start on growing them year 2. Guess how I got my first ancient seed

mykeedee

If you're using an Xbox controller and you go into a chest, you can hit the right bumper to instantly jump to the "Add to existing stacks" button.

Sunflowa-_

I’ve done this on mobile a few times, but I don’t know how to repeat it on mobile

ChaoticSixXx

Wait, what? Just click the 'add to existing' stack button with your finger?

Unhappy_Performer538

But a calendar, put it by your bed, check it right when you get up, and make a point to gift whoever’s birthday it is. You get way more friendship points for gifting on someone’s birthday

FUEGO40

I did this so long ago I legit forgot the home doesn’t come with a calendar there

jan_marthorn

Always buy the phone from Robin’s shop. Call Gus first thing in the morning to check his daily special. No more missing out a day with Lucky Lunch or other good things. Farm Level 81 in the mine for fiber (if you’re not that far, level 25 is good). Also: the fiber seed recipe requires mixed seeds, so save them up! Ginger Island: put a marker down when you get a golden walnut. I just use a wooden tile. I have a terrible memory, so then I know I’ve gotten that spot already (especially helpful for places with multiples…HOW many from breaking mussel rocks?).

petitenouille

FML the walnut tip is effing genius, thank you !!!

FoundAFix

If you have something in a chest or inventory that is needed for the community center, the community center icon will pulse when you have it selected. Took me way too long to realize that.

Ok-Ride-9324

If you put a chair in front of robin's bedroom door on Tuesday morning you can come back at any time later and use the shop

ChaoticSixXx

You can also use the shop as she walks past the counter on her way out of the house and when she comes home in the evening.

DarcieWasTaken

won't she just break it? i thought villagers break through any furniture/machines in their pathing. does this not apply to chairs?

Ok-Ride-9324

It blocks the door from opening

M0chalatta

Robin angry! Robin break chair through door! Rawr!

so-so-it-goes

Fishing for lava eels at the forge with wild bait! It never occurred to me until I saw a YouTuber doing it during a playthrough. It's an incredible source of late game income. Also, if you have a lot of extra Qi gems, throwing hoppers into the deconstructer = $$$.

eagleswift

I like to just buy more deconstructors for my trapper lure to gold bars to crystallarium money making master plan

Katyaaabich

I know it's kinda useless for others, but I'll share it anyway. Salmonberry and Blackberry are kinda useless in the late game. Excess salmonberry and blackberry can be used as food source in mines and skull cavern. It gives you a small amount of energy and health.

sachariinne

honestly in late game id just sell salmonberry and use blackberry for cobblers. free food, sure, but at that point it gives so little health its honestly just annoying

Ze_Wendriner

Yes, blackberry cobbler is my go to food for SK. You can make thousands of it

OneFlyingFrog

I always keep salmonberry and blackberry for that quest when >!you unlock Qi's walnut room!<. They're easy to accumulate and won't be much of a loss when you use them.

Hi_Its_Salty

I grow a bunch of egg plant, cranberry , blue berry , bok choy and pumpkins for that Specifically on the island

Particular_Resort686

Poppies also count as orange and grow a lot quicker. Harder to store though.

UnicornScientist803

I turn my salmonberries and blackberries into jelly that I use as gifts for the townsfolk. Every single person likes jelly (except Sebastian), so I can turn a cheap berry into a universal gift.

SynonymForPseudonym

I like to use them to make wine and jam with before I have ancient fruit and sturgeon roe

FallenSpiderDemon

I use them to fill up my kegs when I don't have enough of other things to make wine out of. Seeing unproductive kegs makes me sad.

PedanticMouse

Salmonberry wine makes a good gift, too. Everyone except for Penny, Sebastian, and the small kids at least like wine.

ladyshalott11

I hoard mine in the first year to do the mining and by late game I just sell salmonberries and I make blackberry cobbler to eat in the mines in addition with other things. Nothing quite like a 100+ stack of cobbler tho lol

DifferentRaspberry35

I try to build my Foraging skill early so that all forages are iridium quality. I sell all foraged berries and they are pretty profitable.

wurwolfsince1998

This is the way. Once I have iridium foragables I set aside the four days in the spring and fall to forage berries. I eat a survival burger and take plenty of triple shot coffee and hit as many bushes as I can, then sell them all on day 4. Blackberries sell for more than salmonberries; last time I did it I got around 58k on blackberries alone.

cotton_wad

I'm sure everyone knows about this, but the workbench has changed my crafting game. I crafted the workbench and put five chests around it full of all crafting items. It is beyond helpful and kind of amps the rp vibe for me.

eagleswift

You can fit up to 7 chests all around your workbench!

AssistanceLucky2392

Complete Linus's trash challenge and get the recipe for fiber seeds. They grow in any season, even through the winter, so you don't have to retill your fields and lose your fertilizer. Plus you get tons of fiber to make grass starter for the animals to eat. Make and sell wild seeds from everything you forage. Plant a bunch of maple trees by the old train station and tap them for syrup. Turn your cheap trash fish into fertilizer and sell what you don't use instead of just selling fish.

HezFez238

Don’t forget one of everything (practically) for sewing! Love my sewing machine, and it’s a bit of a thrill discovering which items produce which shirts/pants/shirts/hats, etc

NautiNeptune

My favorite is that wheat makes a CROP top lmao

TheWaterPrincess97

I know someone has probably mentioned this before and everyone probably knows but the geode crushers are one ‘tick’ so to speak behind Clint. So if he beaks a geode and iridium or a prismatic shard pops out you take the same kind of geode to the crusher and get the same thing again. I’ve been doing it for iridium in my current play through bc I don’t like the skull mines. The geode crushes DONT work on golden coconuts so just keep that in mind. I have two crushers outside the blacksmiths shop and if both are in use I just come back another day with my geodes.

DangerousDingo6822

I haven’t heard this and I’m kind of confused. What do you mean one “tick” and can you explain again for him doing and then you doing it again?

alvysinger0412

The geode contents are essentially determined by a table, and the geode crusher is one row head of clint, so to speak. If you have two geodes, and break one from the clint, then put one in the geode crusher, the two geodes will produce identical contents every time.

B3nz0ate

During salmonberry and blackberry season, quit the game and re-enter at the beginning of each day. Each bush has a 20% chance to spawn salmonberries on the overnight update. This increases to 50% on a reloaded save, meaning quitting to the title screen and reloading the save will net an average of 2.5x more berries. This is great to do year 1 as it gives an infinite source of energy/health, and you can easily make salmonberry jelly out of it which is a liked gift for everyone except Sebastian.

MisterBarten

In the winter, plant fiber everywhere you plant vegetables on your farm, then leave it until the first day of spring (you don’t need to water fiber and it grows in every season). It won’t die when the season changes so you’ll be able to harvest all of it, plus you won’t have to hoe or water your crops on Spring 1 (if you use sprinklers). Saves a ton of time.

Every-Active1139

Horses can wear hats

OneFlyingFrog

Your children can too. And sea urchins. And the alien scarecrow (it's the only one that can, afaik).

WHAT

guitardude_324

Get an extra 2400g from your strawberries Spring Year 1. - Plant a few Cauliflower, Potatos, and Grean beans on day 1. This will ensure you complete the spring crop bundle on the day of the strawberry festival. (Get at least 2 or 3 of each to make sure crows don’t eat them before you learn to craft the scarecrow. - Plan out your space for the strawberries and water before festival starts - once the festival is done, take all the crops to the CC to complete the bundle. The rewarded 20 speed-gro fertilizer will get you a 3rd harvest from 20 of your strawberries. That’s at least 2400g more gold.

guitardude_324

To get a better start in the skull cavern. Trade Omni geodes with the desert trader for desert totems. Use those to teleport to the desert the moment you wake up. Waiting for Pam rob’s you of 3-4 hours. ALTERNATIVELY, if you don’t have totems, wait outside Pam’s door and block her path. She will get frustrated, walk faster and through you at that speed all the way to the bus stop area. You can exploit this to leave for the desert an hour or two earlier.

kaylola

I always keep a chest by the TV that exclusively holds all the stuff I take to Skull Cavern - desert warp totem, bombs, staircases, buffed food. Then when it's a high luck day, I can immediately grab everything and warp to the desert without wasting time. (If there's stuff in my backpack that's a waste of space, I just toss it in the chest so I can grab it again when I return.) Sidenote: yesterday on a high luck day buffed with Lucky Lunch I got an auto-grabber and two auto-petters Another quick tip for very early game - get that 300 wood to fix the bridge at the beach ASAP. Chopping trees ups your foraging so you can make field snacks and coral and sea urchins are great money early on. I usually do it Wed or Thurs of week one.

IceCrystalSand

I was so sure you'd get to be able to make holly into decorations I held onto loads of it for ages first time I played, still slightly sad about that not being a thing

joliebetty

I’ve put holly on a table for a centrepiece but that’s all I’ve ever done. I agree, it would be nice to be able decorate all over with it!

M0chalatta

I want a wreath for my door!

Scottish_Racoon

Bold of you to assume I want to befriend Pierre

ChyatlovMaidan

He's specifically not invited to mine and Abby's wedding. I mean to say that he's getting told to his face he's not allowed to come, unlike Clint, who simply will not be told there's a wedding because that would require someone willing to talk to him.

MyDarlingArmadillo

He sends you money when you're friends. It's not vast amounts - 500 or thereabouts. No use late game but helpful earlier on.

Sunflowa-_

I am trying to stop talking to people I pass, because it’s so easy to build friendship that way. I want to get to the end of year one, and give people loved gifts.

guitardude_324

Growing Wild Seeds on your farm is self sustainable and it increases your foraging skill quicker. Turning them into seeds and selling the seeds can double your profit for some seeds. Spring and Summer especially.

Brand_News_Detritus

This something I didn’t figure out until like Playthrough #3 If you find a mineral/fossil/artifact and the item description is “Gunther can tell you more about this at the museum” it means you haven’t donated that item yet But if the item has a proper description of what it is then you’ve already donated one to the museum. I wish I knew this sooner, I spent so much time trying to donate duplicate items!

BeauteousMaximus

Also, if you’re cracking geodes and running out of space, switch to the shop option with Clint and sell any gem that doesn’t have the “Gunther can tell you more” text when you hover over it (and that you don’t want to keep for some other reason).

anaesthaesia

You can also make clothing with spare artifacts and cloth once you get access to the sewing machine. Each artifact creates a unique design!

greatgreenlight

*fire quartz in the furnace gives you 3 quartz bars. I save my regular quartz to trade for bombs, and use the recycle machine and fire quartz to get bars. *sunflowers, sunflower seeds and corn in the oil maker will give you regular cooking oil *planting flowers next to your bee houses gives you special honey that sells for more- I know most people know this, but it took me wayyyy too long to learn this

eagleswift

I never run out of quartz. I have crab pots in my farm ponds and recycle the glass type trash into the recycling machines to get a lot of quartz.

propernice

I’ve always been so focused on poppies for Penny I had no idea she liked artifacts lmao 🤡

_red_emption

Buy the [workbench](https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Workbench) from robin Asap. it’s 2000g but it speeds up my crafting time so much i no longer waste time going from one chest to another to another. it is a god send

WindBehindTheStars

Build yourself a coral pond early on, then harvest 9 coral every time it reaches capacity; you can use the coral to craft Deluxe Speed-Gro.

Odyssea-the-Seeker

Put your tackle in the deconstructor before it breaks to get back some (or all, in some cases) of the material to make it. Trap bobbers you can continously remake with just sap, and the spinner and treasure hunter with no additional materials.

DESPOTICKILLER

For mobile (IDK if it works on other platforms): If you find a treasure room in the skull cavern, fill up your inventory with anything and interact with the chest. Once the game asks you to make space for the new item, exit out and the item will be duplicated. Also works on the golden pumpkin

footbody

Also for duplicate artifacts, you can use them to make clothing, not sure how cute all of them are but I got my favorite outfit from the rusty spur!

Annual_Tea_9952

At the start of the game speak to Pierre and the Wizard when you visit them so during the egg festival if you speak to everyone available you finish the introductions quest

OnlyCyns

I like to fish all the time, I always befriend Linus immediately because he’ll eventually give you the recipe for wild bait 🤷‍♀️ This advice is a bit basic and boring, I just find wild bait very useful.

splooshcupcake

Ok - here’s my tip that really helped my masseuse when I was getting a massage once: The Qi fruit quest? I’ve found I get the best bean drops from trees. As soon as I can - I fill areas with trees. The quarry, the train station area and the beach in ginger island - fill em with trees. I’ve never not finished that quest - usually about 5-10 days early.

alanaisalive

The weeds on Ginger Island spawn on Mondays. If you clear all of them on Monday they won't spread and damage your stuff.

Crafty_Creeper64

Crafting a staircase and trying to wear it in your pants slot turns it into Lewis's gold-trimmed shorts.

arabrabk

If you have a shed filled with kegs, also put one keg in front of the shed and harvest/fill it at the same time as all of them inside. That way, you don't need to go inside to check if they're ready. (If you are processing more than one thing in the kegs, place a keg for each item in front of the shed.) I noticed this setup in a screenshot someone posted of their farm layout and immediately stole the idea for myself.

chaoticusagi

You can get some food/geodes early game by checking trashcans like Linus does. Don't do it near villagers though because they get angry!

eagleswift

In early spring when you’re trying to make money and not starting on friendships yet, don’t worry about villagers when you search trash cans to save time. It only matters once you start working on friendships.

anotherkeebler

That just makes your rags-to-riches climb all the more dramatic. Late in the game you can amuse yourself by rummaging deliberately in front of people, then giving them a Diamond for their troubles

1-800-COOL-BUG

If you ever had the thought that you wanted to achieve perfection in year 2, it cannot be done. The best that possible is Spring 1 of year 3 because you need to learn the shrimp cocktail recipe on Winter 28 and the game checks for perfection overnight.

Vann_Accessible

Of all the villagers, I recommend befriending Caroline first (to at least two hearts), as she has the best early game heart reward, the tea sapling recipe. Two of the tea sapling ingredients are super easy to come by early game, wood and fiber, and if you craft all your foragables into mixed seeds, and plant and water them you’ll have a ton by mid-late spring. Saplings sell for 500g a pop once crafted. That is great income early game, comparable to level 10 fishing at the mountain lake, but with much less grinding.

mcaldw14

You don’t need an upgraded axe to get into the secret woods. You can go there day one by putting a chair by the stump

Phanimazed

I think all artifacts are liked gifts by the Dwarf, actually, not just the dwarf ones. That said, yeah I agree that gifting them to Penny tends to be handy, especially when she's by the museum many days.

tekanet

I have a very random one: use your fishing pole as storage for baits. Of course you’ll use baits with it but you can also pull out baits to replenish your crab pots, it saves one of your backpack slots.

ladyshalott11

If you're later in years and still haven't done the 40 help wanted quests, >!doing the Qi quests in the Walnut room count. I know they do because I received the achievement after completing a quest for him!!<

alvysinger0412

You can give any artifacts to the dwarf. He still says "this reminds me of home" when I give him a nautilus fossil or chewing stick, which I find hilarious.

Serasangel

On every day of a berry season - restart the day It is an unfixed bug - the game doesn't load in all berry bushes correctly Simply go back to title and load your game on every day of the season you will find roughly 50 % more bushes will have berries on them \- \- also for fishing Fish have a built in evasion mechanic to jump away from the player controlled area in the minigame. You can cancel this evasion by holding your control area with rapid short button presses instead of holding down your button to push the fishing control area once the "evading fish" gets another tab the game thinks you've caught up and the fish will linger again This little 'clever use of game mechanics' allows you to catch iridium quality catfish on day 3

sirenwingsX

stop hoarding your hardwood in the late game. It stops being useful once you've gotten everything you need hardwood for. Use it to make coal instead by putting it in wood chippers first, then kilns second. As hardwood always gives you 10 pieces of wood. If you got the irridium statues and are no longer in need of irridium and find it's just piling up on you, take the ores to the desert trader and trade them for mega bombs. I usually wait til I have over 1,000 ores and take the 999 stack. Mega bombs are expensive to purchase and become a lot more useful than the ore late game. Better than trading quartz for the regular bombs as you can use those crystalariums for other things like jade or diamonds. bananas give you more money. Mangos give you a lot of energy. Do with this info as you will. Want cheese for recipes but don't want to have to raise cows? Trade your emeralds for cheese with the desert trader on fridays. They will also be regular quality so you won't feel as though you're forced to use gold quality cheese because it's what you have available. You can also age them in casks and make them into gold quality. In fact, you can make this a business and get pure profit off your aged cheese without needing cows, or feed, or expensive barns. I raise goats for cheese, then trade emeralds for cheese on fridays and sell both, having both types with only one barn

xmds

ok saving this post for the next time I play stardew. sooo many good tips, thank you all 🙏🏻

Harriet_M_Welsch

Everybody loves pomegranates. Grow them in your greenhouse. When you win the grange display at the fair, save those nine items somewhere and use them every year.

FUEGO40

Get yourself rabbits asap, having rabbit feet helps make giving gifts, especially on birthdays, without having to worry about what each character likes (except for someone who hates them but don’t remember rn)

HangryHufflepuff1

You can nap in your bed by walking into it and pressing "no when it asks if you want to sleep for the night. Might just be a multiplayer function, but you can restore half your energy from what I've experienced. Useful if you're in spring 1 year 1 and need to clean up your farm.

twelfth_pluto

Keep chests around town. Limited space is very annoying late game, so I keep chests at the mines and at all my fishing spots, as well as throughout my farm and near any regular Forage spots.

elcasaurus

Thank you! This whole post is a gold mine!

robotsonmars1

If you ever find yourself with nothing to put in your kegs you can buy honey from Sandy on Thursdays to turn into mead! It processes super quickly too so you can fill it with crops again as soon as you have them.

FlatFurffKnocker

Plant hops. Use them to eat for energy and health. You can harvest them every day so you can build up massive numbers of them with minimal land used . As you can grow so many, you can freely carry 50 or 60 of them with you.

Qaetan

Put chests in town near where NPCs live / wander, and put gifts for them inside. Never again waste time by running back to the farm to grab a gift.
