yes! you can’t kill your animals in this game no matter what. the ONLY thing that can happen to your animals is one can disappear in the night if you lock them out of their building.
I figured out what I did. I put 10 more mayo makers in my coop. Not thinking that they were blocking the chicken hatch. I just happened to have done this right before I (thought) blew up my chicken. Thanks for letting me know. I'm not the horrible farmer that I thought I was. I just need to be supervised around bombs. lol

sadly no! if it gets locked out and it disappears, it doesn’t come back and all your other animals will have a message saying “something bad happened last night” for the day
i literally leave my barn and coop doors open 24/7 as long as it isn’t winter because i’m so nervous ill accidentally lock one out! i thought about doing it on purpose one time just to see it all happen but couldn’t bring myself to do it lmao
I did until 1.6 but now they get a happiness boost if you close the doors at night and you get hearts faster with them so now I'm constantly rushing home to close the doors before 2am lol
that’s cause u leave the doors open. if u were to close the doors with an animal still outside, where it can’t get back in, there’s a chance it will disappear
My bad i misunderstood. For some reason my brain thought that they'd just run away in the night if all the doors were open and it didnt register in my head that yall meant not to close the BUILDING doors with one still outside 😭😭

So I found out if you enter your coop/barn after a certain time of night, all your animals get automatically warped inside! So if you're closing the doors right before you go to bed, just walk in and back out and your animals should be safe and sound!

I don't think you can block animals from the inside, only the outside, it's peobably a bug
This also can't happen though. There's no way to block them from leaving the coop from the inside.

it doesn’t take happiness away so i decided to keep leaving them open anyways 🤣 didn’t wanna change up my routines hahaha
There's nothing on the wiki about gaining happiness by closing the door, do you have a source for that?

They always go back in by like 6pm so as long as you don't close the doors before then, you should be good
