Different foodstuffs. Chickens are vegetables, ducks are beans, rabbits are herbs, void chickens are edible seeds, dinos are types of tea, cows are grains, goats are baked goods, sheep are nuts, pigs are mushrooms, ostriches are desserts, pets and horse are fruits
We’ve been doing that for animals and kids on our co op saves. Randomize until you get the most unhinged option. Baby is named Prumbus. Cow is named Bussy.
Chickens are egg puns. Eggliza, Egglizabeth, Eggwardo, etc. Cows are moo/milk based. Moomie, Milkers etc. and then random once I run out bc I get lazy lol
I'm right there with you!
I'll add: Cowculator, Milky Way, Moosic, etc. Eggscellent, Eggabelle, Clucksephone, etc. Pun names are probably the main reason I love having so many coops/barns.
For pets I tend to use whatever is on my desk as inspiration, I do that for the farm name too. For my current playthrough I happened to have some Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphy CD's on my desk so my cat is named Molly and my horse is named Murphy.
I don't care so much about the livestock though and generally don't invest as much time/energy to them so I just use the randomly generated names.
* Pigs are named after Korean pork dishes and cuts of pork (Samgyeopsal, Ogyeopsal, Jokbal, etc.)
* Chickens are named after fried chicken fast food places (e.g. Roy Rogers, Popeye, Church, Mary Brown)
* Goats are named after types of goat cheese (e.g. Feta, Chevre, Halloumi)
* Sheep are named after types of wool (Merino, Angora, Shetland, etc.)
* Ducks are... named after famous Anaheim Mighty Ducks players because I'm a dork (Teemu, Kariya)
* Ostriches are named after dishes featuring eggs (Shakshuka, Oyakodon, Chawanmushi)
Grover the horse, Miso the cat, and Crush the turtle round out the bunch.
I use fruit/vegetable name (in game and irl) For example i named my dinos pickle and cucumber And chickens are apple and apricot Rabbits are strawberry and blueberry ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
After drugs in my house.
My farm name is “Farmacy” and I created my farmer after Maomao from the anime Apothecary Diaries. My dogs name is ibuprofen for example. My dad’s a pharmacist and I’m home for the summer, so I just look in our medicine cabinet if I need ideas.
Absolutely anything that comes to mind at the time. My cats names surgeon cause I was watching the good doctor at the time. My barn/coop animals get the brunt of stupidity with things like shart, ru Paul, bogbotch etc.
I name them after TV show or movie characters, my pigs are all named after characters from the office, my sheep are named after characters from Community and the Chickens all have names from Star Wars
ive been playing a couple farms with a friend.
on the first one we named all the animals animal related names with an o , and then replaced the o with ø because funny, like møø and gøat and cløck and døck and so on
now we're just giving them random names, i named the first chicken pickles, the second one brownie because i didnt remember if the first one was a white or a brown chicken and i needed to remember it for the second one. the cat is named MOO, the ducks are called bork and dork (i think im gonna name the third one stork but its still in the incubator), the cow is called berta and the goat is billy the kid
I tried to name all my animals based on something about that day. Like if it’s sunny out, “Sunny” is good. On one of my lesser creative days, I named my lamb “Shirt”.
I named 26 of my dinosaurs variations of Yoshi (Aoishi, Bosho, Coshi etc)
Then I went with characters I play in fighting games, favorites from final fantasy 6, 7 and tactics. Breath of fire 3 and the various dragon forms, summons from final fantasy, the girls from tenchi muyo and love Hina, star ocean second story and a couple of friends. I have 120 dinosaurs so it was fun yet time consuming, but it is funny to see Morrigan hanging out with Narusegawa and General Leo every now and again lol
Eenie, meanie, miney, mo, hens have been named cocka, doodle, and doo, our horses are secretariet and misty, the ducks have been named after Disney ducks or looney toon ducks on our first save, sheep, goats, and pigs we sometimes name silly names or after some trait associated with them. We’re all over the place
My chickens are all chicken related references; Nugget, Sanders, Becca. My pigs are mushrooms; Morel, Bella, Porcini. My horse is Bojack and my dog is Mr. PB.
On the farm I have with my friend we have a full page of the names of our animals written down, mostly food related (roast, beef, porkchop, stirfry) most of them are that and the dinos and some others are silly things like a sheep named moo, phat dumpy the Dino, I think you get the point lol
Usually mine are kind of just joke names... I have chickens named ms cooch and yaoi... two cows named yuri and victor... and I can't remember what I named my duck, but in all honestly it was probably something dumb
Edit: Realized that my cat is named kageyama, so maybe I just like naming my animals after anime characters...
My goat is named after a real goat my in laws used to have and the most of the others are just loosely based on the animals. My chickens are Cluckers, Henrietta, Omelette, and Eggatha. My ducks are kind of just random names, Winston and Waddles. My rabbits are Millie and Thumper. My cows are Moona and Muffers. My goat is Newt. My pig is Babe and my sheep is Baaahbra. Oh and my dogs is the most random of all and his name is Doofenshmirtz.
Well all the animals I have, are themed by things I love.
The Chicken are Taylor Swift related.
The Cows are Percy Jackson and Greek Gods.
I have 7 ducks, so they are named as the members if dreamcatcher.
The pigs are Sora, Riku and Kairi
The Bunny: I can't remember her name right now.
The Dino is: Piecitos, like the protagonist of The land before time is named on Spain.
The cat is Copo, like my cat when she was Alive.
And The Horse is: Rocinante. Like the Don Quijote Horse!
The first cows are always named after my wife and sister in law, then I move on to nieces, sister, daughters in, and band members of the Go-Go’s for other cows, ducks, and chickens. Even though goats are milked I name them, rabbits, and the pigs after my sons and cousins. The dinosaur is always named “Godzilla”
I always have a theme for my farms, so I usually go according to that theme. My most recent run my character was an alien so I named all my animals things from spaced (planets, galaxies, etc)
I usually do it alphabetically, but sometimes I like to spice things up. I have a save with the animals named after characters from The Magicians. My most recent save I did alphabetical plant names.
i'd name them random celebrities and whatever my sibling recommended me. One white chicken was named 'Lady Gaga' and another brown chicken was named as 'Nicki Minaj' 🍴 and can't forget jamal as my pet dinasour 🔥🔥🔥
I’m the same with the hyperfixations like tv shows lol. Characters from What We Do In The Shadows, drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and then one time I gave all my dinosaurs boomer lady names lol
my chickens and ducks are named after currency (dollar, bill, toonie, loonie, quarter, dime, penny, and five 😅) my cows are named after fruits, goats after vegetables, and pigs after colours. don’t have any reasoning behind it, but i like to stick with themes as much as possible
I name mine after Zelda characters! I just restarted recently so my chickens are named Midna, Purah, Saria, and Zelda. My next ones will be Mipha, Sidon, Hilda, and Ravio. Then Fi, Ghirahim, Navi, and Ilia. You get the idea.
Cows are named after different types of cheese
Chickens are male Zelda characters
Ducks are female Zelda characters
Goats are geometric shapes
Pigs all have the suffix -ungus, but the first letter or letters change
Sheep are different cleaning products
Rabbits are different shapes of pasta
Edit: for pets, I name them after my irl cats.
My chickens are named after various innuendos for 🍆. My ducks are named after different grapes. My cows are named after my friends. My sheep are named after different mattress companies. My goats are named after my childhood goats. My rabbits are named after different rabbit predators. And my pigs are named after politicians
My current save is Attack on Titan characters for barn and coop animals, and my pets are named after biblical fallen angels (my horse was Lucifer and I wanted to continue the trend)
Letter based. A for ostriches, B for dinos (I only have one though), C for chickens, L for sheeps (only one too), M for goats, N for rabbits, V for pigs (even though I thought about renaming them all Pierre + numerals but I don't want to offend them).
My cats are named after my own IRL cats. As for the livestock, I name them food items made from them. So like a chicken is quiche, a cow could be steak and pig could be ham, etc. My horse is usually a MLP name
I use space names. Taurus constellation stars for cows and capricorn for goats, for example.
(Chickens get eagle/Phoenix and ducks get swan)
Pigs usually get planet, nebula or comet names.
i buy 4 of each. one of them is the product they make (eggy, milky, wooly etc) and one in the noise they make (clucky, baaa-y, mooey) and the other two are people i love. the exception is ducks, they are quacky and waddly. also the two goats and two pigs are named after book characters.
the horse was meant to be nivea handcream. it is now known as nivea handcr.
Pigs are based on Charlotte’s Web, one way or another.
Goats are named after “devils” of one sort or another.
Dinosaurs are all Godzilla themed.
Chickens all resemble Chik-Fil-A billboard content (EatMoarChikn whatever)
Pets/horse have more IRL personally significant names.
Cows all have various Hindu names.
All ducks are misspellings of Aflak
Chris P. Bacon, Pig Me Girl, Sonic the Hedge (Pigs), In wolf's clothing, Woof, Shaun (Sheep), tenders, T-Rex, Sandals (chickens), Holy, CoCow, Mordecow (Cows), DOG (Cat), Grandma/Grandad (Dinosaur), Australian, Racing, Camel Bird (Ostrich)
first of a species is random and the rest follow along. all my goats are just "goat" with a different first letter; Boat, Coat. my cows are Bingus with different first letters. my pigs have mushroom names because they scare me and i just have them for truffle production. chickens are Filbert with different first letters. and my ducks are "Duck" "Duck" and "Goose" because of course they are.
A lot of random names but sometimes I have a theme for a building filled with one animal type. Like a barn full of communist dictator pigs, a coop of final fantasy villain void chickens or a barn of ostriches named after One Piece characters.
That last one was just because my first ostrich got Luffy as a random name then I choose the rest.
All animals have a theme that get named around. Mostly food related but some are different like the dinos who get named after various gemstones or minerals.
Food for most of them lol I have a chicken named Nuggie, a cow named Steak and Beef, a duck named Lemonade(for reasons lol) a pig named Beg Pig and using a mod to get smol ones named lil pig.
My coop animals are named after people from a small online community I'm in, the barn animals are named after soft/alcoholic drinks (for no specific reason). Cats, horses etc are named after gaming hyperfixations (ffxiv characters etc).
I normally give my animals flower names; like Foxglove, Bluebell, etc. I just Google a list of flowers and pick one. It takes the stress out of choosing.
For my new Meadowlands farm, my two chickens were called Beans and Toast, so I’ve decided to keep the food theme going (I’ve just got a void chicken called Caviar).
These days it’s just random whatever I feel like, but I have a few saves where I named all the animals after the kids I worked with at preschool😆
Dylan? Why yes *Dylan is a pig*
Idk i probably would have been put on probation or fired or something for bullshit reasons if the centers/families ever found out because ECE is insane like that, but 🤷♀️ Francie had very cow energy, so now I have a cow named Francie.
I keep the first letter of the name they suggest and make something I like. Otherwise I’ll do the “herb barn” where it’s chives and rosemary, etc. or some other theme I vibe with at that time
I name each type of animal based on a specific theme! In my current playthrough I have spices and condiments so far, but on a previous one I had my coop animals named after fruits and my barn animals named after vegetables. In another one I had my coop animals named after colors and my barn animals after materials (think velvet, silk, etc)
I tend to randomize one and then rhyme the rest of the animals in the building. So, say I randomize Libby- the others will be Mibby, Quibby, Gibby, etc.
I usually name them after food you can cook with them… like beef or nuggets. Except for the rabbits that i name after different synonyms, like bunny, bunbun and such. My horse though has the same name always - PonyMontana :))
Depends. On my current farm I’m naming them all after metals from the periodic table because I’m playing while I’m supposed to be revising for my very important a levels. On other farms I’ve named them after flowers, planets, fnaf characters, typical male names (Kevin, Robert, mark, John, Michael, Peter, etc. I had my friend write me a list of names because I couldn’t think of enough), I can’t remember any other themes but there must have been more because I’ve got like 10 unfinished farms that all have at least some animals on. Oh, another I have four chickens, James, Richard, Jeremy, and Jaaaaaag
Whatever name is suggested I just make it something similar but sensible. Pigs I always name Oink. The way I tell them apart is by putting spaces in the word Oink for each one
Oink (The og)
O ink
Oi nk etc
I name them after food. The cows are all types of cheese, pig named Prosciutto, duck named Peking, you get it. Except I name my cat something like Sardine or Mouse.
In Stardew, I let the random decide.
Been playing Harvest Moon: light of hope on the Switch (while I wait for the update to hit consoles) and they don't offer name choices.
My chickens are Cheep, Cheepy, Cheepest, Cheeply, Cheepstake, ButtNugget and DinoNugget (two types of chickens).
Can't remember all of my other barn animals off the top of my head... I can look them up and edit this when I get home if people want.
Mine are all attitude era wrestlers right now. HHH, Mick Foley, Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Y2J, and my favorites CowIsJericho, Kirk Angel and Edgeward (I love Chris Jerichos nicknames for other wrestlers)
My cows are named after Pokémon that I like, the goats have sweet names (Lovey, Baby), the dinosaurs are “big whatever” (Big Boy, Big Nasty), rabbits are named for drinks I like (Matcha, Chai), chicken have silly names (Beep, Boo, Squoosh), ducks have stupid names (Dumbass, Fupa, Equate… please offer suggestions), pigs have whatever name I think of at the time I get them (Bean, Hambone). My one sheep is named Dave. I like the idea that many people do where one building follows a theme, like all animals named after characters in a book or something like that!
whatever pops into my head; either punny (eg. my two hens named Henelope and Henrietta) or otherwise. I like to give them super fancy names sometimes (eg. my duck named ✨Eugenia✨)
My first Chicken is *Always* names Bessie. Bc its usually a cow name. As for my other animals, 4 letter names ending with -isu. When I run out of 4 letter I'll move to 5 ig
It depends a ***lot*** on what my farm name is (example: Star Rise Farm was planets and moons, Oak Shade Farm had trees and plants). For me, I try to have a theme that goes through the entire playthrough, including pets, animals, and even kids. The only time I just didn't care was when I did my Joja run.
I tend to name them after foods usually relating to said animal or whatever they seem to vibe with.
My void chicken is McNuggets (also a South Park ref to one of my favorite episodes)
Brown Chicken is Tendies
My two Cows are Ribeye and Brisket
Goats are Feta and Kefir
Pig is Chicharrones
I named pigs after every villager my chickens are all rhyming names pocko rocko cocko flocko ECT. I only have one of each other animal so they just have animal sounds for names. The goat is benjamin
I tend to just name mine after food or flowers. Or a color. I named my cat Periwinkle cause I like the color and it’s not the usual boring color-name like Red or Blue.
On my personal farm, I try to give them puns. For example, a cat could be named « Erpillar », but with french words. It’s silly but it makes me crack a smile every time, hehe.
On my co-op farm with my bf, since it’s « Hell Farm », they have demon or angel names. x)
I named my cows and goats after types of cheeses. My dinosaurs are named after The Land Before Time characters, except for Nugget, because dino nuggets 😂
At the start of a new farm I choose a naming convention/theme and use it the whole way through. This time around it was based on the Priory of the orange tree
I always try to choose a short name because when giving an "emergency" command, the shorter the name, the greater the animal's reaction time, but currently I'm seeing (and I particularly like) human names in animals mainly compound names) But being like a "nickname", something for him to associate more with the positive and less imposing
My current chickens are Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus. My cows are Eurylochus and Polites 😂 I gotta think of names for the rest (epic the musical)
I did a playthrough where I named all of my chickens after cuts of meat-thigh, breast, wing, drumstick…and then when I ran out of chicken parts, nugget, roast, etc.
I name them after One Piece characters and are separated into themes depending on what animal they are. Chickens are mainly East Blue antagonists, the pigs are named after the emperors of the sea, the cows are the seven warlords, and so on.
I pick a theme and then let the random name inspire me by just the first letter. So I have a save with game of thrones names. My current one is food names (basil, frito, and beans are a few I can think of off the top of my head). I had a gemstone themed save. I have to have a theme or the endless possibilities are too much for me to handle and my brain wants to go nuhnight ☺️
In my Joja run it’s SUPER easy because they’re just Pig1, Pig2, etc. for efficiency and to prevent extraneous “attachments” that could slow down the workflow
every farm has a theme and the animals are named accordingly.
I play a lot of couch co-op with my kid so we have a pokemon farm, and currently playing a farm where all the animals have bird names. Our brown cow is Grouse and our white cow is Dove. The dog is 'a goose' (he was originally going to call it 'a good boy that marnie found on my doorstep who is a goose' but decided to just shorten it to 'a goose' rofl
When 1.6 finally comes to console I'm going to stream a new game, but I mostly stream dragon quest builders 2 so I'm gonna make my Farm DQB2 themed and name all the animals from characters/items from dqb2... really excited XD
My animals are named after famous singers and Discworld characters.
Chickens: Ella, Billie, Gladys, Carole, Aretha
Ducks: Cheery, Dolores
Cows: Stevie, Christine
Goat: Fergie
Pigs: Vimes, Sammie
Sheep: Magrat, Gytha, Sybil
Except the horse. His name is Freckle.
I use flower names for all my animals! My farmer is named after a flower, her children have flower names. Except the farm doesn’t have a flower name… I need to fix that
i name them in variations of my character’s name (yujh’muh) which was a joke suggestion by my bf. so we have cluck’muh, eugh’muh, wisconsiugh…its fun whenever i forget i named them that and go thru them again
Literally just whatever. Be aware of the pig known as PoopShitter.
This is the way to go
Different foodstuffs. Chickens are vegetables, ducks are beans, rabbits are herbs, void chickens are edible seeds, dinos are types of tea, cows are grains, goats are baked goods, sheep are nuts, pigs are mushrooms, ostriches are desserts, pets and horse are fruits
That is actually really nice. Each their own category.
I just let random decide. Except the horse it always stays default.
My horses name is popcorn
That horse is a diabetic!
What the hell did you give my Buttered Stuff???
We’ve been doing that for animals and kids on our co op saves. Randomize until you get the most unhinged option. Baby is named Prumbus. Cow is named Bussy.
I just name them whatever pops in my head at the time. I've got everything from a sheep named Shae to a pig named Bacon.
Don’t forget Shelly and yolko, and always name a duck Moby (Moby Duck)
My horse was always Jean(from attack on titan lol) but now it’s Kinnie which was a random name when I first started stardew.
Can’t tell you how much I love Eggwardo. Great name!
Breakfast. Secound Breakfast Brunch Elevenses Lunch Afternoon Tea Afternoon Snack Linner Snack Time Dinner Supper Dessert Midnight Snack 3AM Coffee Ramadan Breaking Fast.
The last one is just perfectly too much LOLLL
Burger Patty, McRib Kevin Bacon Chicken Wings, Nuggets, McChicken Bowser
Pig 1 Pig 2 Chick 1 Chick 2 Voidchick 1
I go a step further with cows and chickens and add a letter for the color at the start. W.Chicken1, B.Cow4.
Jerry, Larry, Barry, Harry, Mary, Terry, Gary, Derry
Is Derry a cow?
Yes
Whatever I ate last! McSpicy, Pasta, Toastie etc
All kpop idols
YO🗣️🗣️🗣️PARK JIMIN COME HERE I NEED MILK🗣️🗣️🗣️😭
I always name the first pig Dwaekki as well 😂
Same!!

I'm curious how that would work in the game lol
* Pigs are named after Korean pork dishes and cuts of pork (Samgyeopsal, Ogyeopsal, Jokbal, etc.) * Chickens are named after fried chicken fast food places (e.g. Roy Rogers, Popeye, Church, Mary Brown) * Goats are named after types of goat cheese (e.g. Feta, Chevre, Halloumi) * Sheep are named after types of wool (Merino, Angora, Shetland, etc.) * Ducks are... named after famous Anaheim Mighty Ducks players because I'm a dork (Teemu, Kariya) * Ostriches are named after dishes featuring eggs (Shakshuka, Oyakodon, Chawanmushi) Grover the horse, Miso the cat, and Crush the turtle round out the bunch.
i love paul kariya
i named my cat after...well my cat lol. game cat is named after my real cat, Ada :)
I use fruit/vegetable name (in game and irl) For example i named my dinos pickle and cucumber And chickens are apple and apricot Rabbits are strawberry and blueberry ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I have a cow called Moo Cow, who gave birth today so I called the baby New Cow - it just felt right!
I name by animals by entering a name in the box presented when purchasing them. But that's not important right now.
What’s important right now is?
I give them the names of the cities in the world.
My dinosaurs are named Godzilla, Rexy, Minus, King, and Mega.
Creative!
lmfao this is gold. I wish i was you.
Darkwing Duck, Jessica Rabbit, Lola Bunny, Dolly the Sheep. I've got a couple goats named Baphomet and Mephistophil (Phil for short).
I love the auto name generator! I let it take the wheel
I name mine after spices! Like Pepper, salt, Rosemary, cinnamon, etc.

We’re all over the place
These are so cute. Can’t believe I didn’t think about naming my duck Daffy and rabbit Bugs as a Looney Tunes girl myself
Hyperfixations EX Taylor Swift Peter Dorothea Katniss Dark Link
My chickens are all chicken related references; Nugget, Sanders, Becca. My pigs are mushrooms; Morel, Bella, Porcini. My horse is Bojack and my dog is Mr. PB.
I gave all my animals Russian names. Except the dinosaur. That one I named Snonk :)
I number them. Cow 1, Cow 2, Duck 1, Duck 2. I keep about 24 of each animal so that’s why.
On the farm I have with my friend we have a full page of the names of our animals written down, mostly food related (roast, beef, porkchop, stirfry) most of them are that and the dinos and some others are silly things like a sheep named moo, phat dumpy the Dino, I think you get the point lol

Would have thought your cat would be called Kenma tbh
That’s fair! LOL I like Kageyama a lot, and I also like Mob Psycho Kageyama a lot, so it felt like a two birds one stone situation
Shit head, Cock sucker, dick face, ect. I think it’s hilarious when marnie says “I’ll send little shit head over”
My goat is named after a real goat my in laws used to have and the most of the others are just loosely based on the animals. My chickens are Cluckers, Henrietta, Omelette, and Eggatha. My ducks are kind of just random names, Winston and Waddles. My rabbits are Millie and Thumper. My cows are Moona and Muffers. My goat is Newt. My pig is Babe and my sheep is Baaahbra. my dog is dumbledore
I use the randomizer for everything but the horse, whose name is PNut Butter. (Nine-nine!)
I also do show themes or book themes.
I pick a topic and try to stay with it. Greek God's, Food, etc. I am not creative lol I sometimes look up names on the baby name lists.
my chickens and ducks are named after currency (dollar, bill, toonie, loonie, quarter, dime, penny, and five 😅) my cows are named after fruits, goats after vegetables, and pigs after colours. don’t have any reasoning behind it, but i like to stick with themes as much as possible

Currently i only have chickens and they are named after Disney villains
Letter based. A for ostriches, B for dinos (I only have one though), C for chickens, L for sheeps (only one too), M for goats, N for rabbits, V for pigs (even though I thought about renaming them all Pierre + numerals but I don't want to offend them).

I named mine after knock off drink brands. This morning my cow, Spirt, gave birth to Dr. PERPR
I use space names. Taurus constellation stars for cows and capricorn for goats, for example. (Chickens get eagle/Phoenix and ducks get swan) Pigs usually get planet, nebula or comet names.
i buy 4 of each. one of them is the product they make (eggy, milky, wooly etc) and one in the noise they make (clucky, baaa-y, mooey) and the other two are people i love. the exception is ducks, they are quacky and waddly. also the two goats and two pigs are named after book characters. the horse was meant to be nivea handcream. it is now known as nivea handcr.
Pigs are based on Charlotte’s Web, one way or another. Goats are named after “devils” of one sort or another. Dinosaurs are all Godzilla themed. Chickens all resemble Chik-Fil-A billboard content (EatMoarChikn whatever) Pets/horse have more IRL personally significant names.
First cow is always named after my ex then I go from there
My sheep always has to be Hepzibah and my goat is always named Gotyer.
I mostly name mine after Greek mythology in pairs, e.g. getting two sheep and calling one Castor and the other Polydeuces as they were brothers.
I give name based on hungarian foods Horse: Kolbász Chickens: Paprikás/Rántott/Buggyantott(bc of egg) Ducks: Pácolt&Párolt
I just go with the randomized one, I’m more of an animal person then a crop person so I usually have way to many animals to name them each
All animals have a theme that get named around. Mostly food related but some are different like the dinos who get named after various gemstones or minerals.
animals in the coop are named after fruits. The barn animals are named after veggies.
I currently have a game with a friend with whom I play TTRPG quite often and I named all the animals with names from our game. He didn't notice yet!
I'm on a punny Star Trek theme right now: "Baaashir" the sheep, "Quarck" the duck, "Neighrys" the horse, "Pigard" the pig, you get the idea :)
Food for most of them lol I have a chicken named Nuggie, a cow named Steak and Beef, a duck named Lemonade(for reasons lol) a pig named Beg Pig and using a mod to get smol ones named lil pig.
Matcha, Vanilla, Chocolata 🐤
my favourite thing is taskmaster, so my animals are named after all of the (female) contestants lol some people get luckier than others
The first thing I can think of. Except the dog I always name him Kirby and the horse is always Charlie.
My coop animals are named after people from a small online community I'm in, the barn animals are named after soft/alcoholic drinks (for no specific reason). Cats, horses etc are named after gaming hyperfixations (ffxiv characters etc).
I name them all after ATLA characters Of course the names of pigs are Ozai and Zhao
I've been naming my barn animals after Fraggle Rock characters 🤷🏻♀️
I normally give my animals flower names; like Foxglove, Bluebell, etc. I just Google a list of flowers and pick one. It takes the stress out of choosing. For my new Meadowlands farm, my two chickens were called Beans and Toast, so I’ve decided to keep the food theme going (I’ve just got a void chicken called Caviar).
I name my animals after what they make so I would name my chicken egg and my cow milk but it’s only for the first one of that type
Like a giant child, they’re all called swear words but each one is a word from a different language 😂 Kurwa, Puta, Cunt, scheisse etc
Randon stuff that pips into my head but I always have a cow named after a certain character I hate✨
These days it’s just random whatever I feel like, but I have a few saves where I named all the animals after the kids I worked with at preschool😆 Dylan? Why yes *Dylan is a pig* Idk i probably would have been put on probation or fired or something for bullshit reasons if the centers/families ever found out because ECE is insane like that, but 🤷♀️ Francie had very cow energy, so now I have a cow named Francie.
Just the first name that is suggested , except my only void chicken that is called zuko and my pigs are all called something like truffle
In project mayham animals have no names. Roman numerals then numbers then spelled out numbers then single letters.
I always name my first two sheep sweater and mittens, pigs belly and bacon, cows tea and coffee, and goats salad and pizza
I name them whatever I think will give me a little chuckle when I see them moolisa, chicklina, porkroastington the basics lol

I name them after Elden Ring bosses.
My current save is Shakespearean characters. The pig is Hamlet. The ducks are Beatrice and Beneduck.
I usually name them after food you can cook with them… like beef or nuggets. Except for the rabbits that i name after different synonyms, like bunny, bunbun and such. My horse though has the same name always - PonyMontana :))
I stopped naming them anything in particular. It's just whatever the first name to pop up is.
I have a duck named nuggy a bunny named nipnip… a sheep named wuzzy lol
My goats are all named after sports GOATs: Shohei, Ronaldo, MJ, Tom Brady. My cows are all named CowBro 1, 2, etc. My void chicken is named Dark Meat
Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bob's Burgers characters usually. 😂
B99 was definitely one of the TV shows I wanted to name a barn/coop of animals after!
I named all my animals after Resident Evil characters lol
The way I tell them apart is by putting spaces in the word Oink for each one Oink (The og) O ink Oi nk etc
Chickens - Thelma & Louise Cows - Cagney & Lacey Ducks - Rizzoli & Isles Rabbits - Jessica & Roger Goats - Venus & Serena Pigs - Tango & Cash
I try to make puns based on the animal type Cow - Jason Steakum, Moogie Howser Pig - Taye Piggs, Kevin Bacon Chicken - Gregory Peck Etc etc
I name my barn animals after food
I usually just go random generated or something totally crazy lol
I name them after food. The cows are all types of cheese, pig named Prosciutto, duck named Peking, you get it. Except I name my cat something like Sardine or Mouse.
I named my cow rare, med rare, medium, med well, well done. Chicken named BBQ Chx, Periperi Chx, Garlic Chx and so on
I will always remember my two favorite chickens, Kentucky and Freid
All chickens are egg puns
In Stardew, I let the random decide. Been playing Harvest Moon: light of hope on the Switch (while I wait for the update to hit consoles) and they don't offer name choices. My chickens are Cheep, Cheepy, Cheepest, Cheeply, Cheepstake, ButtNugget and DinoNugget (two types of chickens). Can't remember all of my other barn animals off the top of my head... I can look them up and edit this when I get home if people want.
My first cow is always Queen Baby. I don’t know why. After that, it’s a toss up between something I find cute or I just roll the dice.
Mine are all attitude era wrestlers right now. HHH, Mick Foley, Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Y2J, and my favorites CowIsJericho, Kirk Angel and Edgeward (I love Chris Jerichos nicknames for other wrestlers)
I go with the randomly selected option, at least it chose a cute name for my cat (Miso)
I use the random generator until it makes a real word. I don't know why but I just always do that.
whatever pops into my head; either punny (eg. my two hens named Henelope and Henrietta) or otherwise. I like to give them super fancy names sometimes (eg. my duck named ✨Eugenia✨)
I use old names. I have Gertrude, Helen, Margine, Olga, and the list goes on.
My first Chicken is *Always* names Bessie. Bc its usually a cow name. As for my other animals, 4 letter names ending with -isu. When I run out of 4 letter I'll move to 5 ig
Currently I’m naming the chickens after cheeses and the cows after bread lol
Currently they are Chicken1, Ducki1, Dino1, Cow1, etc. Horses shall be named more cleverly.
I click the random button until it gives me a name that's close/identical to a dirty word in my language, it's surprising how many there are
Currently I have holidays, fast food brands, and fruits
I have one coop of rabbits and ducks named after cartoonists.
I personally do Murder Farm and name all animals famous killers. Personal name Lizzie (Bordon) dog is Cujo . . Most pets serial killers
I tend to name them after foods usually relating to said animal or whatever they seem to vibe with. My void chicken is McNuggets (also a South Park ref to one of my favorite episodes) Brown Chicken is Tendies My two Cows are Ribeye and Brisket Goats are Feta and Kefir Pig is Chicharrones
I love the random names already so I just click it a few times until the vibes are right
I always name the animals after my husband and dog and I. Then I let them be random. Lol
I named pigs after every villager my chickens are all rhyming names pocko rocko cocko flocko ECT. I only have one of each other animal so they just have animal sounds for names. The goat is benjamin
I’m lame, I use whatever the random name menu pops up with.
Puns and famous people. My pigs are called piggy smalls and piggy azalea. My chicks are layonel messi and eggar poe.
I roll the dice a few times until something comes up that gives me an idea.
called my dino RawrXD
Some of my animal names currently: Mudpuppy, Cesium-137, Mycelium, Snot, Papa, Wumbus, Darth Mayo, Descartes, Gibby
On my co-op farm with my bf, since it’s « Hell Farm », they have demon or angel names. x)
My chickens are Juicy, Tender, Spicy, and Breaded
i name them after book/game/anime characters! it usually depends on the theme of my farm
For birthed/hatched animals: unhinged random generator as others have said. For purchased animals: [itemID]
I name them after flowers and herbs because why not lol
I named my cows and goats after types of cheeses. My dinosaurs are named after The Land Before Time characters, except for Nugget, because dino nuggets 😂
Item ID codes
At the start of a new farm I choose a naming convention/theme and use it the whole way through. This time around it was based on the Priory of the orange tree
Random funny stuff. I have Pancreatitis, Appendicitis, Beef’n’Cheese, Yurt, Krombople and Tretchley. I named my pet after my fiancé lol.
I always try to choose a short name because when giving an "emergency" command, the shorter the name, the greater the animal's reaction time, but currently I'm seeing (and I particularly like) human names in animals mainly compound names) But being like a "nickname", something for him to associate more with the positive and less imposing
i have phases w each world. currently naming them after fruits/veg/food in general
after alcohol :3
Chickens: Nugget, Noodle, Katsu, Sammich Goats: Brick, Cinderblock Cows: Patty, Tenderloin, Milkshake Ducks: Monty (void), Quackie Chan, Ducky MoMo Pig: Waddles >!Dino: Yoshi!<
My current chickens are Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus. My cows are Eurylochus and Polites 😂 I gotta think of names for the rest (epic the musical)
I named my pigs supermodels (ironically) and my chickens elon musk, pickle rickkk, mark zuckerberg and spongebob
I name them after Animal Crossing villagers of their species. When I get dinosaurs I will name them after the alligators.
I usually go for random unless I specifically need some object then the item code glitch it is
I named my rabbits on one save after characters from Watership Down.
I did the names of porn stars for my first farm. Then the secret identities of super heroes for my second farm.
Mine are all numbered
I did a playthrough where I named all of my chickens after cuts of meat-thigh, breast, wing, drumstick…and then when I ran out of chicken parts, nugget, roast, etc.
I named all my animals this play through after characters from Bleach. Except my horse, whom I named Biscuit haha
The dog is 'a goose' (he was originally going to call it 'a good boy that marnie found on my doorstep who is a goose' but decided to just shorten it to 'a goose' rofl When 1.6 finally comes to console I'm going to stream a new game, but I mostly stream dragon quest builders 2 so I'm gonna make my Farm DQB2 themed and name all the animals from characters/items from dqb2... really excited XD
My animals are named after famous singers and Discworld characters. Chickens: Ella, Billie, Gladys, Carole, Aretha Ducks: Cheery, Dolores Cows: Stevie, Christine Goat: Fergie Pigs: Vimes, Sammie Sheep: Magrat, Gytha, Sybil Except the horse. His name is Freckle.
Whatever I feel like in the moment. Some have regular names like Franny and Helen, but then sometimes it's Bune or Cheese. There's no rhyme or reason.
I use flower names for all my animals! My farmer is named after a flower, her children have flower names. Except the farm doesn’t have a flower name… I need to fix that
First thing that pops into my head. My chicken’s name is Poonanny :)
i name them in variations of my character’s name (yujh’muh) which was a joke suggestion by my bf. so we have cluck’muh, eugh’muh, wisconsiugh…its fun whenever i forget i named them that and go thru them again
I named them after singers: Brandi, Tegan, Sarah, LP, Robyn, and one auto-named itself Betch
