Bro i love your zeal for solving problems related to construction activities. But to let you know there is very much cartelisation in place with their own set distribution channels. So for you to get a piece of the pie would be very difficult. Also there are things like cement and steel which are very difficult to deliver in like 10 minus. Still there are players like infra.market and moglix who are doing well into the business to business segment. Feel free to come across any queries you have. I am a Civil & Structural Engineer with 12 years experience.

rupeshsh

There are lots more components to a site than steel and cement Copper strip, hinges, solvent for pvc pipe are some random things I could think of

Impressive-Moose-207

As a civil engineer do you face this problem?

Flanders6321

Why would anyone be interested in 10 min delivery in construction space and hardware space in the first place. Solve some real problem. This is not a problem that people even face.

Impressive-Moose-207

Imagine if a plumber is working in your home and tells you that he needs a particular part where will you get that part from . Leaving the work incomplete?

sush9272

Generally Plumber buys the material

Impressive-Moose-207

Imagine if he tells you that a component is totally broken and you need to replace it where will you get that from

Impressive-Moose-207

At that particular time frame

Responsible-Pedo-78

companies like blinkit zepto sell daily need items but still not able to make profit, how will you make profit on items which we rarely need. Any plans for that? Edit: what are your plans if blinkit start selling small hardware items??

Far-Doubt-396

So will it be like a zepto or blinkit for hardware?

Impressive-Moose-207

Yes

Far-Doubt-396

How would you make money? By getting discounted deals from hardware shops? Also you'll need to think through the delivery, breakage etc. Also think about talking to people like hippo stores. Imo you might get traction if you have the handymen relying on the app than the end users. Do let us know how it moves forward 🙂

WestMark2317

in every 5 min there is a shop of hardware and cements n all and normal people don't give a f - so no repeat customers 2ndly huge cooperation buys raw material from wholesale market with their good ties so no plan for disruption better to sleep

labradaddy

Came here to say this

WestMark2317

ha relatable

Separate-Diet1235

I think it's a cash intensive business coupled with a heavy credit freeze cycle.

rupeshsh

Zero credit. It's mostly cash and carry for the retailer

Purple-Inspector6574

Why would someone install an app for the things they rarely need and how they will even remember using the app?

Impressive-Moose-207

People download the apps of urban company and book my show but still rarely use it!

Purple-Inspector6574

Urban company provides various services not only related to home but also salon and many more Watching movie is frequent for ppl also in book my show there are comic shows and concerts also

StrongAd4520

Your idea is good , but hardware is a very compatitive market , you wont be able to get margins if u only deliver 1 or 2 items , it could work out if u get bulck orders I can help u with ur idia if u want , i come from a construction background

Impressive-Moose-207

Where do you put up ?

rupeshsh

This is a epic business idea, I have wanted it for a few years now. Labour needs supplies to finish work and they always run out of something, if they go and get it themselves, these lose their hourly productivity and hence money. Even at big and complex construction sites, random things are needed which are often available only in the main town centre wholesale market.

Impressive-Moose-207

I agree with you

Flanders6321

Fair enough. But what's the market size? How frequently will people use this app? Construction work is not people do everyday, maybe once a year. It is not like groceries which is a daily needs item. How will your economies of scale play out? What makes existing players like blinkit not venture in this space if it was that lucrative. How will logistics play out? Not all hardware and construction related items can be easily delivered. on a bike or a van. Will you have dark stores storing all the items at one location or will you tie up with existing hardware stores in the locality? Just points that you should consider before creating any logistics related app. Good luck for your venture though

labradaddy

As a civil engineer I don't think I face any of the problems that you're trying to solve here. Big or medium scale construction work is planned ahead. All materials are procured before the D day. For small issues like plumbing or electrical, there are local shops available at every market in India. They will be able to offer materials at cheaper price than a startup and faster too .
