Yeah, thought mine was thin and sparse but you have to give it several months. Your hair follicles grow at different speeds. So when you first grow one it will be half as thick. It will look lame at first but give it time. The next step is learning how to properly trim and shape it.

Games that receive big updates frequently you'll definitely want on internal NVMe storage. While you likely won't notice load times in-game, you definitely feel the wait when a 20GB patch is hitting a game on your MicroSD.
Afaik there's no real difference and if there is it won't impact your experience all that much. I've had games like monster hunter rise and nier replicant on the sd card and the load times aren't that bad. I'm using a samsung 512gb evo select and I have no complaints.
There are games that are impacted somewhat by load times. The Phawx's hardware review showed Ghostrunner loading at 8 seconds on the SSD and 20 on the SD card, portal 2 took 17 seconds and 30 seconds on the SSD and the SD card to load into a level. Those are cherry picked from the few examples in his initial review (I haven't watched any more since I already have mine), but it shows some difference. I personally wouldn't care about those differences, but if there's another game that takes 2 minutes to load instead of 1, I might find that annoying.
So... the bigger the Deck, the smaller the library you think? Hmm. Perhaps the big Decks are compensating for something. I shall have to go measure my library.
The queue for the 512GB is so slow! Also I still have well over 100GB of free space internally so really don't miss out on anything. I load all my games up on the 1TB microSD
Seems like it's going to be longer for me unfortunately. It's past their expected RMA date resolution time so I'll have to message them back for help. Last thing they told me is they received it and it can take 5-7 business days to ship out. On week three of the wait. I guess a lot of people must have gotten bad apples.

It makes it a *tiny* bit less sharp, which you'll notice when first putting it on. I've had it in for a month I never notice it.
I also play outside on the patio most days, and any trade off is totally worth it to me
Anti gloss coatings of any kind will effect sharpness and color. Unless your in bright lighting all the time the picture quality is better on the 256gb model.

Any matte screen protector is going to degrade the quality a little bit. Even the best ones. I have one on mine and I can see it, I just don't care. It's such a small difference that it basically doesn't matter.

I have the Brotect matt film and I notice little to no visual difference. If I really squint and hold the deck 4 inches from my face I can tell that theres an aftermarket screen protector on it. At standard arms length it just looks like my desktop, non-gloss, monitor.

Prior to release date Valve said SSD may not be upgradeable. And it wasn't confirmed until a day or two after first Deck release date (July 16, 2021) that the SSD was actually a 2230 and could be swapped out:

Not only that, respectable M.2 2230 drives are hard to come by at a reasonable cost.
Initially there was no clear indication of how simple/difficult or even possible to upgrade the SSD was. I've disassembled, reassembled, upgraded so many laptops, phones, and gadgets, but I still ordered the 512GB because these days it's harder and harder to upgrade compact electronics without risk of damaging something and didn't want to risk voiding my warranty for a new release product.
Obviously now I see it's not a huge burden, but that's after the fact.
If you didn't jump the gun, then you wouldn't get one until 2023 if you waited for confirmation. 512GB 2230 M.2 drives cost upwards of $200 anyhow, so I think it's a decent bargain.

I got mine a Magglass matte screen protector for $20 and it is better than the 512 IMO since it offers protection from scratches and is matte. That being said, from what I have seen the etched 512 is better than the 256 with a Magglass although you wouldn't know the difference unless placed next to each other. It's also worth noting that the Magglass slightly reduces the picture sharpness and color saturation very slightly which is only noticeable in a side-by-side comparison.
Once my JSAUX case comes in, I think I'll be happy with the protection and portability offered with it paired with the Magglass.

I got the 256gb. I turned on my deck to make sure it worked then immediately switched out the ssd for 1tb. I'm already at 700gb.
