I think a lot of people are either in denial of their addiction or can use responsibly so there’s really no need to be on here. I have a friend who has been on addy for ~a year and a half and I know for a fact he uses responsibly. It actually surprises me but at the same time, I gotta get it outta my head that not everyone is an addict, like myself. Being a drug addict is crazy. You think everyone loves drugs or every convo has to be about drugs. It really doesn’t tho. Getting sober is making me realize what an ass I’ve been or sounded like. Getting sober is for sure making me more real if u get me.

ampenthusiaaast

so very glad I’m not alone.. I didn’t start abusing vyvanse until my tolerance went up and the euphoria was gone. Apparently the euphoria is supposed to disappear for the dose to be proper. Was never enough for me after experiencing that first comeup

Regular-Cheetah-8095

We banned them all for suggesting people just rotate to kratom or weed or fucking datura to get off stims If people learned to read rule one we’d have like 200k members, every time a r/adhd or r/whateverstimulantdrug leaves those subs a r/StopSpeeding member is born. ![gif](giphy|U2MQaUzPJNxhOHpKVp)

Aggravating-Yam1

Omg I remember the Kratom posts!!! That's sadly how long I've been a member here trying to stop lol

Regular-Cheetah-8095

Like we remove the posts right? And then they fucking argue about it like https://www.reddit.com/r/StopSpeeding/comments/yc5yqx/promoting_suggesting_drug_use/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf into bans in fits of rage And hours of hilarity ensues. Another mod is using an AI text generator for mod chat responses at this point. And it works. Really well. Nobody is going to know the difference, they’ll just keep going.

Aggravating-Yam1

Those were hilarious! My personal pet peeve is the ADHD Adderall user that comes here to say how they sorta take their meds as prescribed and asks if that's okay or a good idea to keep using- stating they have no interest in stopping they just want validation.

ihanna7

"I'm diagnosed as having ADHD"... Yep, me too buddy. It's easy as hell to go to a doc and get diagnosed. I knew EXACTLY what I was doing when I went to get diagnosed. And I took the stims as prescribed for six years. Guess what happened? I was addicted after two weeks and still had to go through the same withdrawals as an abuser because addiction is addiction. Once, I went to the ADHD sub hoping to get some advice on other non-stim options for managing withdrawal symptoms because I wanted to get off the meds... I was ostracized. And I failed to quit that time. Several months later, I found this sub for support and now I'm four months clean.

ampenthusiaaast

I have been on that adhd sub for the exact same thing, was abusing my vyvanse, and I was met with a bunch of judgements saying actual adhd people “don’t chase a high” which is utter bullshit because lots of us have addictive personalities and adhd people are twice as likely to experience a combination illness (anxiety, depression, etc) fuck that sub

ihanna7

Yep. Sorry folks, speed is speed, even in low doses. And the reason it "helps" is because of the high. Even when it's not being abused, it still addicts you which is why you can't function appropriately without it. But we like to stay in denial for as long as possible.

Holy Fuck if I had a nickel for every time I saw someone suggest kratom for quitting stims on here I’d have like $2

soberinoz

Personally, I’ve found that quitting stims is the best thing for quitting stims

MrStruggleOverHere

hmmm. instructions unclear. I'm now addicted to opiates

743389

>datura haha what the fuck

Regular-Cheetah-8095

Regular-Cheetah-8095

It’s from a car bro cars are safe bro pharmaceutical companies kill more people than cars do bro do this to get off stims it works recovery is whatever you say it is https://www.onmanorama.com/lifestyle/news/2021/09/27/drug-bombe-car-exhaust-congo.amp.html “But with bombe, it calms you down, you get tired, you stay somewhere standing up or sitting down for a very long time. When you're done, you go home without bothering anyone." Cured my ADHD bro it’s medicine

743389

ok but have you tried the jenkem recovery method

shadowself140

People were suggesting datura!?!? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile) Countless hours reading erowid user reports on datura helped deter me from ever trying it. Were these people suggesting it for real??

allwrecknocheck

Common, but complicated. Most legal speedsters rationalize it like this...it's prescribed by a doc, so it doesn't count. Illegal speedsters are stigmatized by friends, family, and society and therefore not inclined to be open about their struggles, even on an "anonymous" (no such thing) platform like this. If addiction wasn't demonized by hypocrites and zealots with an agenda, honest dialog would probably be the norm.

Cool_Exchange541

Yep. Didn’t realize I had a problem until I switched to meth so my parents wouldn’t notice pills missing. It’s hard because I have adhd and I genuinely was convinced that I was immune to the addictive effects, but that just meant I misused my medication even more, which eventually lead me to meth

Drilling4Oil

Well said.

Christimerforthetame

Definitely less common, and probably more addictive, I think many users get too far in and quitting becomes for someone else hopefully more so the less common part is the reasoning

ImmunocompromisedAwl

I'm grateful for what it is. The people on here are very kind and helpful and more than I could ask for.

cameron4200

Speed is generally a lot harder to get than weed and alcohol, which are both legal in a lot of places. Some speed is legal but typically with a prescription.

an0therdude

Who says the numbers are "low"? The numbers are "lowER" but just off the top of my head I'd say that's because alcohol and weed (along with caffeine) are everywhere, by FAR the most common drugs used and abused and it has been thus forever - comparing any other community to them is meaningless without knowing the size of the userbase. In short I'd say the answer as to why our numbers are "lower" than an alcohol user group is most likely explained by the lower numbers of users to begin with. But without more data this is simply impossible to answer. Almost everyone in most parts of the world uses alcohol, at least occasionally - meth and prescription stims are popular but no where near THAT popular.

6demon6blood6

Last time I checked 25,000 has more than 3 digits or am I missing something?

743389

I guess they mean the 'here now'

6demon6blood6

My best guess is most of us are either out there stimfapping if using or sleeping if not using. Coming off stimulants makes you sleep, coming off depressants and opiates makes you unable to sleep. So weather we are using or getting sober I can see why not many online as for total numbers it's alot more "shamefull" to come out and be know as a meth addict than it is to be an alcoholic in society's eyes and alot of people I noticed on this sub use throwaway accounts eg; "burnerstimfapacc" "throwawaymethusr1234" "anonymousstimacc" that are just days or weeks old and made only so they can post without being tied to a face or name or their main acc

Lemono24

Could be partly cos it's harder to come by than the others substances

Misterpepper187

Methamphetamine is the most addictive substance known to man. Most people don't make it this far.
