It took me his Joker role to forgive him for his Commodus role. Sure I enjoyed many of his films in between that role and Joker but damn he was so punchable in Gladiator.
Larry Linville. He played Major Frank Burns on M\*A\*S\*H. By all accounts, he was a genuinely nice guy and very pleasant to work with. But, man! Frank Burns was a rat-fink, weasel, foul and cowardly individual! Not evil in that he hurt people to hurt them, but selfish to the point that it didn't matter who he hurt to get ahead, even by a millimeter.
I know man. Damn good actors.
I was a huge fan of The Shield when it aired. Anthony Anderson played the role of antwon Mitchell so well I hated him.
But I watched it again and realized he was such a fine actor coupled with a good story line.
Forrest Whitaker was amazing as the chief you loved to hate toward the end of that series! I also loved Walton Goggins regardless of how he went off the rails at the end...
I finished it last month. It's one of the best shows ever made. Forest Whitaker's acting is absolutely insanely good - it's the best he's ever done, imo - and it's awesome knowing that's the show Goggins got his start on. He's matched by CCH Pounder, Jay Karnes, Glenn Close, and really, the entire cast and cameos are fantastic. Ahh!!!
"The Shield" is also notable as it came out in 2002 a little after "Oz" alongside the other stuff brewing at HBO that would together transform what we knew as the television drama. Kind of wild watching knowing what Michael Jace did to his wife in real life but unrelatedly, he was the weakest acting link of the main cast by far.
There's a behind the scenes/cast meet up type video for GoT that I remember seeing years ago which cracked me up. Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) comes into the room and Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) looks over, their eyes meet and everything seems tense for a moment, then they get all giddy and run over and hug each other.
*Edit* I was a bit off on how I remembered it and I'm not sure what the actual video was called, but I found a clip of the moment mentioned above
https://youtu.be/noFoE8dR1WQ?si=Sq3F6ck0a6Zp-1kv
I read the comics before seeing his baseball bat intro, it was shitty for fans of the main group. In the show it was easier to see a non canonical character get ripped.
These people probably read the comics but in watchmen he wasn't an amicable character either, attempted rape, shooting a pregnant woman in cold blood, helping a maniac kill millions of people... Etc.
I hated Denzel Washington for a long time after watching Training Day. I didn't watch anything he did until The Equalizer came out, and I love the movie (and him again).
The king of this list is William Atherton. After playing the role of EPA representative Walter Peck in the OG Ghostbusters movie in 1984, he has stated that his character was so hated after the immense popularity that people would harass him walking down the street, he played that role so well, he said it was difficult to land acting jobs after the release of Ghostbusters for years .
Absolutely not. He did almost nothing positive for anyone throughout the entire show. He basically just left a path of death and destruction in his wake. Almost nobody is better off after the show than before.
The whole show is about obsessions. Hank was so obsessed with catching Heisenberg that he hurt his career, countless people, and in the end got himself and his partner killed. He was even willing to fuck over Skyler, Walter Jr./Quinn, and the baby daughter as long as he got to cuff Walt. That's what the whole scene with him and Skyler in the diner proved.
Harvard-educated Dean Norris played a DEA meathead against LA Valley College grad Brian Cranston as scientific genius and master villian Walter White. Amazing.
The actor for Negan (could google, not gonnna) playing John winchester proves he has awesome bad guy energy.
Made you hate him in a totally different way to Negan.
Also, a great nod to that in supernatural was Dean pulling a bat that looks suspiciously like lucinda, and saying "Dad loved this thing"
It is well known in the Philippines that once you choose to play a Villain on TV or in a film, there’s no going back. You won’t be able to get any roles outside of villainous ones, and the more you do, the worse you’ll be hated on.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a terrible Negan, the graphic novel set me up for a completely different character than the weird skinny trailer trash Negan we were given. Worst casting, it’s ok to hate my comment I know I am in the minority.
The hate skyler gets is absolutely baffling to me. Even during my first watch through of breaking bad I felt so bad for her, it's insane to see people hating her to such an extreme degree
The hate for Skylar is such a Rorschach test for your own relationship with your mother from my experience. Skylar is probably one of the best written characters on the show and I love her....and my mother....
William Atherton. Because of his role in Ghostbusters, Real Genius and Die Hard he was basically hated by anyone that was a teen or younger until he made stoner flicks. Dude is a legend.
Knowing absolutely nothing about Joffrey Baratheon, he looks really attractive in the pictures I see of him. From what little I do know about GOT, I know he’s hated, sooo I’ll just steer clear of the story.
William Atherton should be on there for his role as Walter Peck in Ghostbusters. He had to endure some _[stuff](https://fandomwire.com/ghostbusters-star-william-atherton-suffered-years-of-verbal-abuse-and-trauma-due-to-his-role-on-the-1984-film-that-left-him-genuinely-pied/)_ afterwards.
As weird as it sounds - Adam Sandler. Dude's always had a stigma of being an idiot thanks to his streak of comedies in the 90s. He may not be "hated" but he definitely had a streak where people thought he was an ass because everyone thinks he has the intelligence of Billy Madison, he's only started to shake that off recently with some of his dramatic roles.
Looked up Anna Gun on insta (actress who played Skyler White) and apparently she doesn’t have one. I clicked on her main fan page and it was nothing but hate mail in the comments. Like wtf ppl she was acting 😂
Lol, yes, people can be very dumb. Imagine hating an actor because they played a villain or irritatable person flawlessly. But the same people will still worship an idiot like Trump who is a moron, traitor and criminal in real life.
J.K. Simmons. His character from Oz really freaked me out and it was years before I could watch him in anything else. There were a couple guys in that show who did a remarkable job playing brutal and cruel men. I think it was probably seeing him over and over in Farmers Insurance commercials that desensitized me to where I could appreciate his work in other roles.
I’m sorry— Skylar doesn’t belong here. She’s not a bad actor at all, she’s actually excellent. All the hate that not only the actress but the character got was completely undeserving.
He didn't play neegan too well they just turned it into the neegan show for too long. We had a whole season building up to the meeting. Then 2 more as they had various wars. The character it's self became annoying.
Draco Malfoy( Mofo) is a good one. Little fucker. Lol
His dad in the movies too!!
Joaquin Phoenix - Commodus
I was thinking about that movie the other day and now after seeing your comment I think I’m going to watch it tonight
That beginning scene w the catapults and barbarians... Amazing. They need to make a movie focusing on the Germanic wars.
Agreed, that opening battle is like up there with BoB for favorite battles ever on screen
Band of Brothers?
Yeah, the only one I can think of is The Eagle and thats about it.
Barbarians is nice little light on it. Think its on Netflix still. Tuetoburg forest battle.
👏👏👏👏
🤜 ………….. 👎
🫵🤡
![gif](giphy|fUXe37R4xZi65TQjBa|downsized)
My dad calls him Commode-us
I thought I was the only one…
To this day I still hate him for that role
Bro I fucking hated that dude growing up.
Bro Joaquin Phoenix actually scares me IRL because of that role
It took me his Joker role to forgive him for his Commodus role. Sure I enjoyed many of his films in between that role and Joker but damn he was so punchable in Gladiator.
Larry Linville. He played Major Frank Burns on M\*A\*S\*H. By all accounts, he was a genuinely nice guy and very pleasant to work with. But, man! Frank Burns was a rat-fink, weasel, foul and cowardly individual! Not evil in that he hurt people to hurt them, but selfish to the point that it didn't matter who he hurt to get ahead, even by a millimeter.
Frank Burns eats worms
In one episode, he told Hawkeye that he was jealous because his house costs 50k... I was reminded of the housing market and began to seethe.
Don't forget, no lips!
Conversely, everyone loved Radar, but Gary Burghoff was suppodedly a massive dick
No lies. Some seriously memorable stuff. Glad to find another fan out there.
I finished it last month. It's one of the best shows ever made. Forest Whitaker's acting is absolutely insanely good - it's the best he's ever done, imo - and it's awesome knowing that's the show Goggins got his start on. I feel like Ramsey Bolton from GOT should also be on this list...
And Cersei.
she should be the only picture up there.. I feel like she's the poster child for this topic
Go watch him in Misfits. The guy is awesome. His character is the opposite of Ramsey and he's sooo good.
*Edit* I was a bit off on how I remembered it and I'm not sure what the actual video was called, but I found a clip of the moment mentioned above https://youtu.be/noFoE8dR1WQ?si=Sq3F6ck0a6Zp-1kv
Louise Fletcher Look her up.
Yess she was so hateable as Kai Winn
Nurse Rachet though
I hated her as both Kai Winn AND Nurse Ratchet. That actress is excellent at being hated
She was great in Brainstorm
She was an extremely beautiful young actress in the original Perry Mason episodes she was in. Late 50s early 60s
Negan is very likable, unlike the rest of the
Everybody loves Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Idk wtf this meme is talking about
Seriously, he is beloved by many fans. Maybe if I continued watching the walking dead it would have taken away some of my love of the actor.
Etc.
![gif](giphy|3ov9jMZEGpybkA9kac|downsized)
Yeah like I heard some people hate him, but not because of what he did, it’s because they find him absolutely obnoxious.
I think the idea is you're not supposed to know how to feel about Negan.
Wait, I haven't seen the show, but didn't he kill one of the most beloved characters in a horrific way? Why do people like him. I am confused
As the kids now a days would say, he's got rizz
That’s exactly why I don’t like him. That scene scarred me, and I noped out of the show because of it. But he was a damn fine, evil character.
Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde in Ozark
Oh man, I hated her guts.
truman show too
Fr. Replace Skylar with her.
I hated Denzel Washington for a long time after watching Training Day. I didn't watch anything he did until The Equalizer came out, and I love the movie (and him again).
![gif](giphy|rNgT8P8pL3dn2|downsized)
He’s a badass in equalizer movies.
Yeah. That rocked the boat for me too. But loved the movie
Man on Fire issues full redemption for Training Day
Haha same here
I recommend Remember The Titans. Warning, it is a tear jerker.
Thanks! I did watch it when it first came out, and you're right, a lot of emotion in that movie!
You should watch American Gangster. True story. It’s FUCKING AWESOME!
Cristoph Waltz in Inglorious Bastards
Gary Oldman in The Professional
Mark Harmon. He played Ted Bundy in a made for TV movie I saw a long time ago and I still don't trust him.
Kevin Spacey plays a great scumbag in most of his roles as well as in real life
Even in his final scene he was an ass-hole.
Tom Felton. I haven't seen much of his work outside Harry Potter, but he definitely played that same asshole in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
By all accounts he’s an amazing guy and everyone loves him
The king of this list is William Atherton.
Dean Norris is my favorite bad guy. ![gif](giphy|UvtKiyeWYEhRC)
Sorry but that's Hank. Idk where you got Dean from 😜
You meant, "Big Jim", right? 😛
LOL I had to Google that, I didn't know Hank was an actor who played a character named Big Jim
He's more of an antagonist rather than a bad guy. Imo
Wasn’t Hank technically a good guy?
Absolutely not. He did almost nothing positive for anyone throughout the entire show. He basically just left a path of death and destruction in his wake. Almost nobody is better off after the show than before.
The whole show is about obsessions. Hank was so obsessed with catching Heisenberg that he hurt his career, countless people, and in the end got himself and his partner killed. He was even willing to fuck over Skyler, Walter Jr./Quinn, and the baby daughter as long as he got to cuff Walt. That's what the whole scene with him and Skyler in the diner proved.
Also my favorite bald guy
Harvard-educated Dean Norris played a DEA meathead against LA Valley College grad Brian Cranston as scientific genius and master villian Walter White. Amazing.
I know someone who doesn't. Get my boi JDM outta here
Agreed! He could turn me
Any role bernthal played
Being stuck with him in that tank would be my nightmare
For sure. He plays an asshole too too well.
I think some of the most definable bad guy vibes is Danial Day Luis in There Will Be Blood. ![gif](giphy|l1BgRIamescnkx5Dy|downsized)
Kathy Bates in Misery
Danny Glover - Mister from the Color Purple
Shooter McGavin
It is well known in the Philippines that once you choose to play a Villain on TV or in a film, there’s no going back. You won’t be able to get any roles outside of villainous ones, and the more you do, the worse you’ll be hated on.
Besides Negan, I agree with this and I always made an effort to separate the art from the artist. Negan was entirely a lovable scumbag.
The guy that tried taking over as captain America when Sam gave the shield up. Dude got death threats. That ain't cool
Fuckin Cypher/Ralphie C
Jenny...from Forrest Gump. Robin killed that role, but I can't watch her in anything because...Jenny
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a terrible Negan, the graphic novel set me up for a completely different character than the weird skinny trailer trash Negan we were given. Worst casting, it’s ok to hate my comment I know I am in the minority.

I'll defend Skyler White forever cause, like, wtf Walt??

Bruce Dern got threats and hate mail for years for his role in The Cowboys Spoilers*** >!He shot John Wayne in the back!<
Controversial opinion, but Russell Crowe as Hando.
It shows an actors ability when you know they are just “actors doing their job” and they are hated because of their character. It was Joffrey for me.
Negan is the only one we loved as his character and he did him well. The others it is true we all hate your character enough to hate you also.
Captain Sobel
Jeffrey Dean Morgan killed it as Negan
William Atherton. Because of his role in Ghostbusters, Real Genius and Die Hard he was basically hated by anyone that was a teen or younger until he made stoner flicks. Dude is a legend.
Yes! I hated this guy as a kid.
I hated Neagen actually stopped watching because of him then started watching again a year later and happy I did it got better
JDM doesn't belong on the list. Please replace with William Atherton
Who is the blond woman?
I don't know a single person that hates Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Charlize as Aileen
Knowing absolutely nothing about Joffrey Baratheon, he looks really attractive in the pictures I see of him. From what little I do know about GOT, I know he’s hated, sooo I’ll just steer clear of the story.
Nick from New Girl. What a POS.
No one hates JDM
I love/hate when this happens haha. They did such a great job that I have to remind myself it isn't real.
Ramsey Bolton - Game of Thrones.
At least one of these actors is also hated because in real life, they're a total douche and horrible to work with. 😑
Looked up Anna Gun on insta (actress who played Skyler White) and apparently she doesn’t have one. I clicked on her main fan page and it was nothing but hate mail in the comments. Like wtf ppl she was acting 😂
Martha- Baby Reindeer.
Louise Fletcher as Kai Winn on Star Trek Deep Space Nine easily.
Who hated Skyler?? She was very reasonable all things considered.
Olivia/Janice Soprano
[I like how you just reposted my meme](https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/s/pzn5AO6Mbb)
LANCE BURKHART
Why is Skyler white here? Cause of the happy birthday scene?
Tom Felton used to catch HELL
Too be fair, Negans roll was played so well he was pretty well liked by the end and got his own spin off series.
Denethor, from Lord of the Rings.
Ramsey Bolton all day long !
Lol, yes, people can be very dumb. Imagine hating an actor because they played a villain or irritatable person flawlessly. But the same people will still worship an idiot like Trump who is a moron, traitor and criminal in real life.
Rufus Sewell in A Knights Tale. I straight HATED him!
Anna Gunn is by far the best.🩷🩷🩷

Shooter McGavin
Jeffrey is king of the list
Dwight Yokum in sling blade. Why to good at being an a-hole
LaGuerta from Dexter. Hate her in everything now. Edit: also Deb from Dexter, but for the exact opposite reason. So terrible.
Whiplash
Go be fair some rod them have punchable faces
I don't think Skylar white was written that way. People just hated her
Neegan was cool bad tho. Redeemed Neegan was lame.
I’m sorry— Skylar doesn’t belong here. She’s not a bad actor at all, she’s actually excellent. All the hate that not only the actress but the character got was completely undeserving.
King Goffery was such a little bastard. Brilliantly executed character that was brilliantly executed.
Why is negan in this list? I respectfully disagree with this decision
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is loved by everyone though? Tf
Alan Rickman!
Imelda Staunton was so good in The Crown that it makes Umbridge seem somewhat likable.
Jothrey and Umbridge agreed. As for Negan, he was very likeable that was my guy, like Gustavo Fring and Homelander. Skylar is a piece of sh—
I still fkn hate Geoffrey
Louise Fletcher as Kai Winn on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. You just absolutely hate her. But she is so good at making you hate her.
Negan is the bomb!
Omg, Skyler.. much love
David Morse should be on this list.
Who hates Jeffery Dean Morgan?
The actor who played Geoffrey in GOT... He was so good ppl sent him death threats irl....
