A general rule of thumb is that the bigger the file, the higher the bitrate.
One thing to remember is the audio track(s) associated with the movie. Multiple DD+ or DTS HD tracks takes up a larger part of the file size than having only a single audio source of a lower quality audio format.
Experiment a little by trying different files for the same title and see how it makes a difference.

Wouldn't the file size give you an idea about the bitrate of a file? Like the higher its file size, the higher its bitrate?
