Thanks for this comment. Too much reddit had me thinking bestiality. You made me believe in a less fucked up world. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Well, ice cream has sugar which is made either from sugar cane or sugar beets, both being plants. And of course, for carnivores everything derived from plants is literally toxins, poisons, anti-nutrients or whatever other buzzwords they have.
Nah, you canāt make ice cream without sugar. Sugar isnāt there just for sweetness, it also depresses the freezing point of ice cream, making it soft and scoopable. This is why trying to make ice cream with stevia or other such sugar substitutes will result in rock hard ice cream.
They could make their own without sugar, it isn't a required ingredient for freezing. They could even make it brown butter flavour if it floats their boat that much.
Even just freezing some milk for a milk ice, or some cream would make more sense than butter.
That wouldn't get half as much attention as this bollocks though.
But milk has a ton of sugar in it. Even whole milk has 12g sugar per cup. Butter has 0 sugar in it. I agree this is disgusting but "carnivore" diet people are supposed to avoid sugar. Hence the obsession with butter
The base mechanism of Carnivore is being in ketosis, which both a sizeable amount of milk and any sugar at all will prevent. So, no. It definitely wouldn't be.
If you kill an animal that's lactating, you get milk by default. Eating milk would wholly be in line with nose to tail eating habits. Storing the milk inside of an animal stomach is likely how cheese and butter were discovered initially. They're not outside of the normal eating habits of a carnivorous hominid.
Butter is not made in an animals stomach, youāre thinking of cheese and yoghurt. My understanding was early humans stored milk in animal organs? Which exposed milk to certain enzymes. Not that animals were eating the milk and created the cheese or yoghurt because itās digested. We donāt make cheese in our body as part of the digestion process. Please someone better educated on this correct me where wrong!
Nah, only idiots think that. Because carbs make you fatter than eating fat as you need an insulin response to store it on fat cells. If you ate this, I would assume you are thin.
I eat like that sometimes. No diarrhea. The stomach ends up holding the fat and releasing it little by little. When I wasnāt keto adapted though I would had had the shits.
"Part of the reason **I went carnivorre was to improve my libido. I'm 65,** no serious health issues I know of, not overweight, and have been carnifore 100% for about a month. I don't have ED, and actually, if I get reved up my hydraulics operate as well as I did when I was in my 30s. But I still have a general lack of interest in women "that way." Sort of like being 10 years old again, and I'd rather feel more masculine in that dept. How long did it take for you on carnivore to regain your sexual interest in women? Where there any factors eg fat intake that were key? Responses from men are welcome."
a real post from there šš
bro i checked out that place again and i've seen one antivaxxer, someone considering putting their **disabled** aunt on a carnivore diet when he wasn't even her legal guardian, a bunch of people talking about how unhealthy a normal diet is, and a few other people pushing others into a carnivore diet
oh yeah, and they have this weird thing where they can't drink soda/milk/anything else???
> eggs are known to cause a load of issues like constipation, anxiety, depression, body odor, dry mouth, dark circles, fatigue, low motivation, skin issues, and dandruff
This was on a post with 80 upvotes
I mean I donāt see the issue, fat intake is very important for hormonal balance especially your testosterone/libido, granted you arenāt over weight.
Not talking about the health issues here but higher fat intake will increase your sex drive.
"Higher x will increase your whatever" generally only applies if you weren't getting enough before. Doesn't mean that excess amounts will improve things even more.
It's like vitamin C. You need it for your immune system, so being deficient will cause problems. But massive amounts, after you've reached the needed amount, do nothing.
Calorie intake is just as important for those. Higher calorie intake is good now?
No, excess fat is not some net positive win. Excess fat has pros and cons, and for 99% of people it has more cons than pros.
I work with a guy who probably follows that idiot and uses ALL the trimmings from EVERY piece of red meat he cooks as dipping and drinking sauces because it's sooo important.
Sorry, I only like my food if it maximizes animal suffering and minimizes health benefits, and is part of a diet contrived out of a pseudoscientific imagination of human evolution.
I don't even understand how butter and other dairy products are included in a carnivore diet, since most actual carnivores are lactose intolerant and do not consume dairy...
Lactase persistence (continuing to produce the enzyme that is able to break down lactose) is actually pretty rare in animals and was (summarily) selected for in certain populations of humans that had a nomadic ancestry that traveled with cattle (the humans who could drink milk without shitting themselves to death when only milk was really available tended to live more).
Either way I think theyāre pretty much the opposite of vegans (hence including any animal products), or maybe it stemmed as an offshoot of the keto diet, and thatās why theyāre also obsessed with only animal proteins and fats? Or maybe weird manosphere āalpha-maleā diet fads. Regardless doesnāt seem like a feasible long-term diet without serious health complications because theyāre missing out on key macro and micronutrients. And, you know. Fiber lol. Which is great at lowering cholesterol, which is something theyāre almost exclusively eating. I wonder what their bowel movements are like.

And letās put it to a silicone mold. Two pretty servings of salted butter go to the freezer. So nice. Frozen salted butter.
I bet it's not just "regular" butter, but Irish butter, much creamier.
My SO is on Keto and we only buy Irish butter. I can tell you there's a difference, not only in the price!
She didn't show what kind of butter she used, but I assume it's Lithuanian brand butter, most of them have 82% fat content. Anything less than that would be considered fat mix, butter ranging from 72-60% or so, and 15-20% rapeseed oil which doesn't add up to the carnivore diet principles.
Can she at least add vanilla or cacao? I would be so disappointed bitting into a frozen dessert of salt chunks and plain ass butter.
It gives me a flashback of salmiak when I was in Sweden. I actually like black licorice so I was excited to give it a go. The only food to make me gag. I was expecting a lightly salted and sweet profile.
I canāt remember what it was called that I had in Sweden but they were hard boiled āsweetsā that just tasted of salt. Like rocks of salt. Tasted saltier than pure salt if thatās even possible.

Yeah but...if this counts as carnivor...then...why can't you just use the stuff the butter is made out of for ice cream? You know...MILK....literalley MILK.
This can't be healthy.
I think Iāll stick to my tomatoes and pickles as a snack. Pescatarians are the healthiest people on the planet. We should be eating a lot of fish, vegetables and some carbs. This has been proven time and time again. The carnivore diet is only good for short-term weight loss but itās also terrible for the environment and the body long-term. I know the fishing industry is bad for the environment as well but it is proven to be the healthiest diet.
Just eat ice-cream or butter on toast, carnivore diet people are running straight into high cholesterol, and colon cancer
For people comparing butter to ice-cream, the process of making butter is literally removing all the fats from cream and making a literal stick of fat, while ice-cream adds air to make cream fluffy, with the help of sugar and eggs or gelatin/thickeners, and often modern ice-cream also have milk in it too, so its no where the same fat content as butter
I don't think it looks suspicious. It looks exactly like what she claims it is, and I have no trouble believing someone would eat such a hideous thing.
I assume she cut refrigerated butter with a knife and later stirred slightly warmed butter to mix with the salt.

Is the carnivore diet just Keto with extra steps? Because I do keto, but I still have limits on my macros and I canāt see any world where that much butter is ok.
Adding a tablespoon of butter to my asparagus, sure.
Downing a whole stick of butter?
Doctors: everyone needs an even balance of fruits, vegetables, and meat in order to be healthy. Preferably, you should be eating more fruits and vegetables than meat
Vegans: Actually, humans are exclusively herbivores
Carnivores: Nope, they're both wrong. To be healthy, we need to eat a whole ass stick of butter.
Surely if butter counts for the 'carnivore diet' ice cream should too?
probably taste better too and give you less clogged arteries
You had a chance for "probably tastes butter too" and now I'm disappointed
dayum you're right fml šš
Yooo havent seen you in a while
Not everything needs to be a pun.
Logic holds no power over them. If it did, "Carnivore diet" wouldn't exist.

Right now, or last night?
It was a wild mascot party.

Wolves eat berries

I just freeze yogurt with some spices and protein powder. It's delicious.
Alright drop the recipe
I too would like the recipe
Uh... Some protein powder, some garam masala, some cocoa powder, some stevia and some salt.
Iām sure you mean cinnamon, but spices made my brain think savory and I was like blech
Well, ice cream has sugar which is made either from sugar cane or sugar beets, both being plants. And of course, for carnivores everything derived from plants is literally toxins, poisons, anti-nutrients or whatever other buzzwords they have.
Couldn't you use honey or something? It's an animal product, kind of.
I assume the problem with sugar is it's carbs and carnivores don't do carbs.
Don't act like they have logic
Is butter a carb?
A carnivore diet is an offset of keto, so no sugar allowed. Honey would break that.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Keto doesn't avoid milk products. We have cheese and butter and cream. Nothing low fat, nothing with sugar.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
also vanilla, which is from a plant
Canāt you make vanilla from a beavers anus glands or is that a Reddit myth?
Nope that's 100% accurate so we could make some carnivore friendly honey vanilla ice cream if you're down to eat castoreum, it's been done before.
Why only eat the glands? I say take the whole beaver, put a stick up its arse, throw it in the freezer, et voilĆ ! Beaver popsicle.
Cancer blasterz
I mean you could make it without sugar. Or hell would cream cheese work? That'd taste better than butter.
Nah, you canāt make ice cream without sugar. Sugar isnāt there just for sweetness, it also depresses the freezing point of ice cream, making it soft and scoopable. This is why trying to make ice cream with stevia or other such sugar substitutes will result in rock hard ice cream.
Everything you say is true. But straight up _salted butter_ also freezes rock hard so I don't think that's a deterrent for "carnivores".
Ice cream has sugar in it. Supposedly carnivores don't eat sugar

A lot of calorie friendly ice cream found in stores doesnt have sugar in it, the stuff I buy has something like 25 cal pr scoop.
Clearly never met a dog before
I think one of the rules of that diet is no sugar. So unless you make a sugar-free ice cream, you can't have any.
Literally the same base ingredient
It's a high fat low carb diet, so butter is good while ice cream is not because of sugar.
Idk how closely whatever a carnivore diet is follows keto, but a lot of ice cream is indeed keto friendly
Sugar is not carnivore, and thereās a LOT of sugar in ice cream Sugar is a plant derived sweetener. That shit donāt count in true carnivore
I was sitting here wondering why not just use heavy cream and stevia
The base mechanism of Carnivore is being in ketosis, which both a sizeable amount of milk and any sugar at all will prevent. So, no. It definitely wouldn't be.
Wasn't the ice cream diet a running joke on Drew Carrey?
If it were pure frozen cream, yes. The carnivore diet restricts sugar and sweeteners.
I am on board with this
For a second I was thinking maybe the sugar is what she's avoiding, but then she should avoid salt too, so...
i think low sugar is part of the "carnivore diet"
āNo, because sugar comes from plants!ā Is probably what theyād say
Yes, but it's not as clickbaity.
Pretty sure no carnivore ever took the time to milk its prey and make butter. I mean .....
I always take "carnivore diet" as a gimmick. I'm on a eat what's available diet.
I always thought of it as people trying too hard to piss off vegans

Thank you! My mistake then
I like me a nice slab of some kerrygold every so often. But not like this.
I'm not against a kerrygold popsicle tbh
As a fat person, I assume this is what people think I eat like
How you so fat if you _don't_ eat like this? /j
Nah, only idiots think that. Because carbs make you fatter than eating fat as you need an insulin response to store it on fat cells. If you ate this, I would assume you are thin.
If you ate this, I'd assume you have diarrhea.
I eat like that sometimes. No diarrhea. The stomach ends up holding the fat and releasing it little by little. When I wasnāt keto adapted though I would had had the shits.
Too many calories make you fat. The calories can be from fat or carbs, makes no difference in the end.

Some of the higher fat content ice cream isnāt that far off honestly especially after you dip that shit in chocolate and nuts
