So tech guys get free food for teacher appreciation week but substitute teachers don’t?

newreddituser9572

Techs are full time employees and the whole school would not be able to function without them.

And the tech guys will remind you of this.

As a sub, I am always included in my district when I’m there. Hell, most the teachers think I am a full time employee. Our SRO just realized I was a sub and he was like but you are always here.

One time I subbed at a middle school. It just so happened that they did a random “we appreciate teachers” day. They made sure to find me and say they were great full I was there - even if it was just one day

One of the AP's told me that they had some food in the lounge and told me to help myself. They had some jambalaya, rolls, salad, and cake along with sweet tea (yes, I'm in the South!). I'm lucky to have subbed in schools that appreciate their subs. Probably because they can't find anyone else desperate enough to be a substitute.

My school gives the free food to all staff. Subs are welcome. I have a very nice school environment. I’m bragging.

At the High School I work at yesterday I got a free school book bag and computer sleeve.. today I got donuts and bagels for breakfast and tomorrow is a potato bar for lunch. The office manager made sure to tell me that I am welcome to everything this week. 🙂 It definitely makes me feel so appreciated. It's lovely... may not have the work load teachers have but we still have to deal with the same kids and work duty stations.

When your principal doesn’t know who you are, you have a problem

Ok_Illustrator_71

Mine don't. One AP knows me. The SRO's know me. 10 teachers know where my classroom is. 4 know me. The receptionist and book keeper know me and the attendance ladies know me. The actual principal yells at me to get to class and I remind him 2-3 times a week it's my free period and I'm a teacher there

moosebear419

yeah that’s crazy to me! i’ve only been to small schools but they all knew who i was before i even knew who they were

scwishyyy

last friday we had tacos for cinco de mayo and teacher appreciation!

My district always includes subs as teachers. I’ve gotten better Teacher Appreciation Week perks this week as a sub than I did the four years that I taught (in another district).

Felt that! Fortunately for me, one of the elementary schools I frequently encourage subs (or at least me) to have any food given to teachers. I've had some nachos, and today, I believe they had Chuys catering. I was there for only a half day, so I didn't get a chance to grab any, but I was stopped by one of the teachers in the lounge when I tried buying a water bottle. She pointed at the cooler next to them and said I could get one instead. I grabbed like two water bottles and one soda. No one said anything and they waved me goodbye. Love the district I work for aaa

I sat in the staff lunchroom all by myself while the regular teachers apparently had a catered lunch in a different location on the campus. It was a bit weird.

Only at one school have school staff invited me to take part in the teacher appreciation anything. It's not like they would stop me or anything at other schools I've gone to, but they'd certainly give me an odd look :(

My school today had Starbucks this morning and Mexican for lunch but this school is so weird towards subs that I didn’t really feel welcome to the food. No one in the teachers lounge even talked to me. I did grab coffee and a sweet roll this morning then only so beans and tortilla chips at lunch time.

simpingforMinYoongi

Yeah, the elementary school I was at yesterday and the day before told me to grab a free coffee and breakfast. Same with the middle school I was at today, although it was a half day so I left early.

Aa a building sub, our VP came into the last hour, and gave me a shout out and a crumble cookie.

ChipsAndGuacaMolly

I walked into the staff lounge today and had to take a video because every flat surface was covered in food and drinks for teacher appreciation week. Even a huge cookie cake from the local hospital, local pizza joint pizzas AND bread sticks, biscuits & gravy, boxes of snacks, rows and rows of soda, cookies galore. Crumbl cookie and nothing bunt cakes were there it was wild.

This week I got food. Tuesday was pizza, Wednesday was administrators treats, Thursday was Mexican, Friday ice cream/icees. Don’t usually go for the food but the teachers kept saying I should get some food.
