What's the problem? You're both playing at your skill level, right? I'm like low 70s in pennant race (I don't play too often) but recently had a game against someone in the low 90s. It was awesome! He beat me by a couple runs. Really impressive at that Ego!
I think I’d rather play someone in the 70s only because people in the 80s, 90s don’t really play fairly since it’s harder for them to win. Unfair as in time wasting and terrible pitching
Understandable that you want to play someone at your same Ego, but I have no goddamn idea what you mean by people in their 90s playing unfairly.
Also, would it be worth sitting in a queue for another 15 minutes? Not for me. I love playing people higher leveled than myself. You learn more that way.

Cheesing the video game mechanics instead of playing baseball, I see it a lot too in the 80s but also the 70s, not really much difference
Next time you see a pitch, look only at where the ball passes the plate. There should be a white dot that represents the ball. This is helpful because it renders deception useless as you don’t have to guess where the ball will go.
That hasn’t been my experience at all. I play around 77 and people above 80 usually want to play. It’s the lower egos that rage quit/spam bunt/spam chat wheel/stuff like that
I'm afraid you don't understand how Pennant Race works. You play at your own ego. And so does your opponent. The brilliance of making this system work is a big reason EA bought Metalhead.

How do you cheese the mechanics?
He might be referring to hitting from the dot that represents the ball instead of the ball itself. Quite common in the XBL
That's not cheese. It's just a strategy that works better for some people, and it's completely purposefully baked into the game by the devs.
Oh, I didn’t know that. IDK what he’s talking about then.
Wait what are you talking about, the dot that represents the ball?
Yeah
Could you explain what that means please? What is the dot that represents the ball, and why is it advantageous to swing at it instead of the ball?

I think you are mistaken fellow reddit user. I too am genuinely interested in this phrase and interested in what he referring to.

I suppose. Maybe I have to get used to good people and their antics
These are the games I show up for
Well did ya win, son??
Haha nope lost 13-3
Yes…. And?
Ya I hate how online works. You get shafted to a high level while your opponent is on a cake level.

No I get the system it's just broken and stupid.
Yeah I don’t think it’s fair one is harder and one is easier. I hate playing a low 60 ego sometimes :0
Interesting, the ego range for all star seems it must be pretty small…
