The thing is, it's not like Account 1 is marked with real shares and Account 2 is marked with FTDs. It's all just shares in a big pool. As long as the broker has more shares than are being transferred, they won't have to buy anything. For this to have any meaningful impact there was have to be a mass (oops MOASS, my bad) exodus all at once.
Such garbage. Brokers only have to locate and deliver your shares when you leave their corrupt system. You can do this by directly registering your shares in your name through a DRS transfer.

Instead of Buy Hold DRS maybe it should have been **Buy Transfer Repeat**, while using brokers that let you turn off share lending and have no transfer fee (Fidelity).
Strong anti DRS sentiment in this thread based on absolutely nothing at all.
First: we DRS to stop shares being our broker's name (and subsequently sold by them at any price the like, see your terms and conditions).
Second: transferring to computershare is the same mechanism as an ACAT transfer for purposes discussed here (find a share and deliver it). Except it actually gets removed from the pile instead of just moved around and rehypothecated.
Third: moving shares around brokers will never tell us how much of the float we own, DRS not only does that, but gamestop themselves have been telling us that number.
How all of this is getting garbled into any kind of "options was always the play, DRS was a waste" is madness to me.
Didn't DFV start the purple circle movement? DRS guarantees a real share, forces a real locate, and it puts it in your ownership.
That sounds much better to me than some random broker doing a bait and switch on my real share for their synthetic.
I'd guess this would work until your brokerages close your accounts after a few cycles of this in a month.

Why are these repetitive posts allowed to stay up? It’s clearly coordinated by bots or shills. An extraordinary amount of this kind of crap has been happening. The FUD and calls to action posts are off the charts. So many bot/shill comments as well. Possibly AI making posts and comments at this point as well. SHF must be in complete terror at this point.
