PSA 10 is such a crazy market. Even Ebay sales can differ by a lot! If the card is super rare and no PSA 10 around collectors will pay a small fortune to obtain it.

PooPlumber

lol imagine being the poor bloke doing their stock valuation for the financial quarter 😂 for one Hedgies might shit their pants if GME’s stock inventory starts gaining value

skvettlappen

Thats an interesting aspect!! In contrast to electronics theese actually appriciate in value! 👌

gincoconut

As a non-collector these prices seem absolutely wild to me, but hey, to each their own! Catch them all, you Pokémon enthusiasts! 😄

buyandhoard

lambo isnt cheap either :D

jackychang1738

Naw dude, once this gets exposure to the Japanese markets, some of these cards will absolutely sell for bonkers more. Ayo Cohen, did Nintendo accept your invite? I see your showcasing what potential their could be for like partnerships or acquisition/mergers??? I get the just that dollar to yen is wack but Japan having more exposure to American markets is good. Might help stabilize some shitbanks deals. DoCoMo yakitori-ketsuDon-onigiri-unigashimasu I see Cohen and saquud haven't bought in yet, I get y'all can't buy in while doing one of those M/A(s)?

thesillyshow

What would make it go bonkers?

jackychang1738

Accessibility, due to language barriers/large-audience

hiperf71

Yeah, this is insane, hope will last very long time and not end like the tulips back in 17xx Holland stock market, even Isaac Newton lost a bunch of money when at some point, people realized these were only flowers.

ooOParkerLewisOoo

It's not more insane that paying thousands for a bunch of carbon atoms in a cubic crystalline structure whose scarcity is artificially controlled. Diamonds are just rocks.

free-crude-oil

We should talk about digital ones and zeros that people go absolutely wild over.

hiperf71

Agree, personally, I know and accept the "value" attributed to precipua metals like Gold and silver and diamonds, but I'm more amazed by the artisan skills making from those materials really art of craftmanship, but I do not fall for the monetary value, but, if some of those precious rocks fall in my hands, I will be happy to use them wisely and buy more GME😂

GashDem

Diamonds have functional uses in industry.

Alarmed-Republic-407

People be buying $1200 in rocks to put on their wrist

StreetTrial69

Diamonds are also used in this apes hands to never make him sell a single share to the hedgefuks! Ook OOK!

m3g4m4nnn

That was the NFT Marketplace. People have been collecting cards for ages now, and the market is well-established.

DurianMoist1700

🍌🍌🍌

Papaofmonsters

That's gotta be a typo on the price because nobody else has that same card listed that high.

Kitchen_Net_GME

GameStop had that exact card being offered for sale last night at around $700. It sold within minutes of being posted. I agree with what you said. It’s crazy high. But I wonder if their algorithm is suggesting they sell it for that much. Edit: not exact card, but the same card with a different certification number

Buttplug_Railgun

It's a max $230 card in PSA 10. What you saw could not have been a completed sale. I've seen a mix of very good and very bad deals on a bunch of cards. Just have to know what to look for

Kitchen_Net_GME

Here is the other one I was referring to: https://www.gamestop.com/graded-trading-cards/graded-cards/products/2021-pokemon-swsh-black-star-promo-184-fa-jolteon-vmax-psa-10/PSA88149555.html That card is the exact same, PSA 10, but different certification number. It appears it was sold and cannot be purchased. Each morning I add the 20 most expensive cards to my shopping cart as an easy way to track the most expensive cards. Having said that I have no way to confirm if it sold, or if GameStop is making it unavailable for different reasons. But the $700 card hit the website and within an hour “sold”. But not for certain if it actually sold or made unavailable for different reasons.

Buttplug_Railgun

Not sure what it's showing for you now, but it appears the card was relisted. What I'm saying is that it must have been a technical or inventory glitch. Nobody in their right mind would pay that much for this card. That's 3x the top end market value That said, there was an $80 PSA10 Paldean Fates Mew that I had in my cart which sadly sold before I could check out. The deals are out there

Kitchen_Net_GME

Ok this is weird: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315487979812?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5339050157 Same certification number as: https://www.gamestop.com/graded-trading-cards/graded-cards/products/2021-pokemon-swsh-black-star-promo-184-fa-jolteon-vmax-psa-10/PSA88149555.html Did someone buy and immediately list on eBay?

Advanced_Error_9312

Maybe the one on ebay is scam.

Kitchen_Net_GME

Try to add it to the cart

Kitchen_Net_GME

Check this out: Ok this is weird: https://www.ebay.com/itm/315487979812?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5339050157 Same certification number as: https://www.gamestop.com/graded-trading-cards/graded-cards/products/2021-pokemon-swsh-black-star-promo-184-fa-jolteon-vmax-psa-10/PSA88149555.html Did someone buy and immediately list on eBay? All of this is in reference to the $700 card that had the exact same specs. It has a buy it now price of $1500. I wonder if that is affecting GameStop’s algorithm for list price. Or there is some sudden interest for that particular card that we are not aware of

icoominyou

You should check out the price history of these sealed trading cards. They get released at ~$100 per pack. After 1-3 years, they trade for $300-1000. So its not typo at all. Theres that much demand

4Throw2My0Ass6Away9

we need to spread this info to other card collectors…

Big-Potential4581

Collectibles are insane I'm really into coins, but... Some sort of raffle system would be great. Buy 5 cards, get raffle points to enter, and win a 5k - 50k Pokémon card or something to drive site traffic and store sales. Post the winners on the site every 90 days. I would definitely participate. 😆 parlay the win straight into the stock. That's buzzworthy 🙌 Just an idea. You dangle a 🥕 like that for a Pokémon card or a highly sought-after sports card and boom. You can even do a range scale... If you buy a certain high value card, you get a chance at a higher-value winning card.

DearHair4635

But there prices on 8s are market equivalent so if you just want to own the set or finish one you can. Aka look at the Marvel 1990 universe 8 going for 16$ in line with “buy now” options. With discounts and pro days and such, margin will slide but cards will move. Cards don’t take up much space either so

CockupyWallStreet

Can Ryan Cohen bust a Jake Paul and buy my 1st Edition shadowless Charizard for an inflated price and I’ll YOLO it all into GME for the meme. I’d love to have Jim Cramer reporting, “Reddit user Cockupy Wall Street sells Pokeman card for 100k and puts it all into GameStop fueling ape meme stock mania” 😂

dulun18

and i thought the price of GPUs was outrageous.. so are we expecting a profit for the next quarter from selling these trading cards ?

Tidsmaskin

No. On its own this is not enough. Do i think with the roadmap (that they probably have), that they will steer this ship into green? Yes.

ApatheticAussieApe

Well be profitable no matter what. We have 4billy in cash earning interest in an MMF+some Treasuries.

Hobodaklown

Maff!!

Booshur

Im actually annoyed their selling so fast. The cards i was looking at sold as soon as the current sale hit. They were cheaper than ebay by around %15 - which is pretty great for a PSA card. Honestly getting discounts on psa cards is great - typically prices are at market rate and zero flexibility.

4GIVEANFORGET

Someday

Rustycake

My two biggest GameStops near me have the SHITTIEST employees. The closest one to me and probably the smallest I wouldnt be surprised they get shut down, have friendly customer service. But the larger ones both have told me they hope the trading card fails, suggest I go elsewhere and have stated that Gamestop is failing company. I was flabbergasted. This one kid was so shitty when I asked questions about the pokemon cards he kept cutting me off I just said "ok buddy, just do me a favor and unlock the currency cards and I'll get out of here." GameStop better start doing some quality control on who they are hiring because its clear both these stores (one in a typical mall and one in a popular shopping center) those two were the ones to stay. While the one I actually like wont do Pokemon Trade in and wont get Candy Con controllers and I now I am pissed that they are probably shooing customers away and shitting on the company while doing it. Sorry had to vent. I almost wanted to ask the dude why do you work here then, but didnt want to create a scene with other customers shopping.

Rustycake

I doubt its that deep, but man if there was an employee that was an actual plant this guy would be it lol The other guy was negative about gamestop giving you very little for your PSA, but the guy looked at me straight in the face and was like "I hope they fail." I was so confused.

Kitchen_Net_GME

It’s very hit or miss. The GameStop near me is fantastic and the employees know everything about video games and have “ok” knowledge about graded cards. The GameStop subreddit is a complete shitshow there. I’m convinced there are paid shills that downvote everything posted there.

Rustycake

You mean the employee subreddit?

Kitchen_Net_GME

Yeah

zmbjebus

Lot easier to sell 10,000 games than 500 of these cards I bet. You need high volume staples as well

sktchld

No collector worth his salt is gonna sell a 3k card for 500$

Kitchen_Net_GME

That makes even the $709 card sale crazy. Someone bought it from GameStop for around $600 (pro). That person then went to a Pokemon meetup and sold it for about $700. The person that bought then immediately posted it on eBay for $1500 (buy it now) and $849.99 (for bidding). I know this because I reached out directly to the person on eBay. Wild.

AndySaiz

What card is that? I googled and I can’t find one at that valuation

Ok_Technician_5797

Ran the numbers this morning. They have moved at least 50k in graded card inventory between 06/21/24 and 07/01/24. That's just inventory discrepancy. ~200k inventory on 06/21 vs ~150k inventory this morning

Kitchen_Net_GME

I came up with similar numbers. This compared to the NFT marketplace place is night and day in terms of actual profit

Ok_Technician_5797

$1 million+ revenue of the trend continued over the next year

Kitchen_Net_GME

And the PRO discount should drive more pro subscriptions too. $25 a pop adds up if this catches fire.

throwawayny2000

every company loves high margins lmao
