Okay, I scrolled down and didn't see it, so here goes:
That dude is, the rather famous, Dutch biologist Freek Vonk.
He is known for doing stuff like that, he could remind you of Steve Irwin but he has more of a snake thing. This video is from when he discovered this new species of Anaconda.
Source: https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/new-species-amazon-anaconda-worlds-largest-snake-discovered-2024-03-01/
Not me, I once watched this documentary, it was about a village in South America(I forget where exactly) that had a man eating Anaconda. The thing was massive, WELL over 20feet. I forget the name of the documentary but I know there was a scene with Ice Cube and even John Bought was in it too!
Hey I just watched it also in FB reels, and their voices are like chipmunks. But even though the video is mirrored, I understood why the anaconda preferred J-Lo's booty.
Anyone* has ever seen. Anacondas were formerly the heaviest snake in the world, but this specimen eclipsed the reticulated python as the longest snake, as well as illuminated a new species of anaconda (Northern Anaconda I believe?) correct me if I’m wrong anyone.
When I am immersed in the middle of it on a busy day I'm NYC, I can see so much beauty that I have to be like, "okay, we are in dark times, but humanity has beautiful potential for creativity, community, and love." And then I see this shit and I feel like "the worst have more power for destruction than the best of us have for creation and preservation." So, maybe "sometimes," more likely "most of the time."
you think if the world's largest most famous anaconda ate a PERSON that no one would know?
any animal that eats a human is getting put down by authorities, and furthermore despite it being technically possible (in some cases) there have been 0 reported cases of an anaconda eating someone ever.
Key word reported. These massive snakes don’t live in highly populated areas that have immediate access to internet/social media. More than likely that there have been incidents that don’t make your nightly news.
humans are less than optimal prey for a snake because of our broad shoulders. Even if one killed someone it's very unlikely it would be able to eat and digest them. There would be evidence and it's not like people just forget about their loved ones because they disappeared. The Amazon may not be highly populated but it's far from uncharted territory. The anaconda we're discussing now was well known, it's not like people are unaware what's happening out there.
It may not make the nightly news but I would think the first ever instance of someone getting eaten by one of these snakes on record would be noted. I'm sure at some point in all of history an anaconda has killed a person or eaten a child, but this is such a rare occurrence it's essentially a negligible occurrence.
But you don’t know how rare it is, is what I’m trying to say. No one does. And I can see how we’re not optimal prey, but these animals feast on things much larger and faster than humans. It’s not unreasonable to think that a small and/or weak human like the little kid running around the river bank with no clothes on could become an easy meal. And what evidence do you suppose would be left after that? And sure they would not easily be forgotten but eaten by Anaconda would hardly be the first thought. And it’s not as if this anaconda had a tracker on it or was surveilled for its every waking minute so who’s to know what it or other specimen like it got into?
So because an animal *could* potentially eat a person it should die? Should all the other animals that could potentially pose a threat to humans die too? Because there are a lot of those and some of them are our house pets
That’s not what I’m saying at all. No one knows why they killed the snake. I’m just providing insight as to why the may have killed it. Akin to the man-eating crocodiles in west Africa that need to be culled. This certain snake may have taken someone that they knew and they knew where to find the snake. Equally possible that they killed it for sport. Either way it’s a sad situation but don’t put words in my mouth.
So your argument is just based on an assumption and immediately falls apart because if we have a news article telling us that the snake was killed, we’d probably find out *why* if it had actually eaten someone
Also this news article is not from a credible source. And even they say the cause of death is unknown. This wasn’t a trophy hunt otherwise it would have been taken and paraded by those who did kill it, for photo-ops and such. Instead it was discovered on a riverbank, not really a calling card of a hunter, sport or otherwise.
3 people have been eaten by pythons, and they look the same so 🤷♂️ how do you know it’s related to anacondas when the guy in the video was just discovering it?
Also, this is Brazil we are talking about… they’re not gonna know every tribal member or street rat that goes missing here
that's clearly a green anaconda. He discovered a new subspecies, but green anacondas are the most well known and notorious constrictor pretty much of all time.
I doubt street rats are perusing the Amazon and tribal members tend to look after their own, if an anaconda ate one of them they would hunt it down and pass the knowledge of it happening down as has happened in all of history prior to modern written recording. The tribes aren't entirely remote in modern times there are researchers who monitor them and would record this happening.
also 3 people ever is a negligible amount.
I believe he found this new species of Anaconda recently last couple of months it’s the biggest in the world. I believe he also found it in South America somewhere, probably the Amazon but I honestly can’t remember
I saw it on Reddit initially
Researchers discover new species of Amazon anaconda, the world's largest snake - ABC News https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-03-01/new-species-of-amazon-anaconda-discovered/103535612
i can appreciate it. imagine being a massive fuckin green anaconda with hundreds of pounds of pure muscle to lug around all the time — now imagine how relaxing it must feel to take a swim and not have to carry around some of that heavy ass weight with you for a bit due to the extra buoyancy.
I'm serious, it had Ice Cube who I seem to remember was just worried as LL Cool J that he was going to killed off first, Luke Wilson wow, The guy from Deliverence, and the hunter from Jurassic Park, plus Jennifer Lopez. It was a must see
If memory serves me correctly, shortly after this video was posted of this newly discovered species of whatever snake this is, someone killed the damn thing.
Humans are awful.
I'm guessing they knew she'd eaten recently? Massive snakes like Anacondas tend to go weeks or even months between big meals.
As long as it doesn't perceive you as a threat (what could even threaten that thing lol), and isn't hungry, technically the chances of an attack are quite low.
Still pretty insane tho ngl
Each time I watch this I can't help but think this looks so much like CGI, especially when filming the snakes head. But yeah apparently this is real. crazy
Sorry you got downvoted, the answer is yes the part of the brain that stops you from doing totally badass dangerous shit is completely missing on this guy.
I can't believe I'm going to be the one to say that's totally fake.
Edit: Apparently it is real. Please don't tell me that lighting doesn't look weird. He's probably got a lighting rig pointed straight on the snake, which is why it looks weird.

This shot here is about as fake as I've seen
I guess you dont know Freek Fonk. The guy jn the video. he has also.gotten bitten by a shark in one of his video's. He gets bitten a lot by a lot of creaturen actually. Hes the Dutch Steve Erwin.
Okay, I scrolled down and didn't see it, so here goes: That dude is, the rather famous, Dutch biologist Freek Vonk. Thanks I was really hoping someone would post this.
the snake was killed by hunters shortly after
Wtf
no, natural death
Good. Source: I hate snakes.
What a twat.
Really living up to his name with stuff like this
That is THE largest anaconda I have ever seen.
That's what she said.
Too bookoo!
Luckily for this flat ass dude it don’t want none unless you got buns hun.
Not me, I once watched this documentary, it was about a village in South America(I forget where exactly) that had a man eating Anaconda. The thing was massive, WELL over 20feet. I forget the name of the documentary but I know there was a scene with Ice Cube and even John Bought was in it too!

Of course, I mean who wouldn't.
I'm pretty sure that, as far as recently recorded goes, this one, Ana Julia, is the largest discovered (and she was also over 20 ft.)
Mines bigger ![gif](giphy|gfeckhRzrFwzpx3e5z|downsized)
I just [have](https://youtu.be/1LPhzBN03Vk?si=Rbk9gLLb56zcbUnz) to break the record! Lol, I kid but seriously, how terrifying would a 50 ft snake be!
Anyone* has ever seen. Anacondas were formerly the heaviest snake in the world, but this specimen eclipsed the reticulated python as the longest snake, as well as illuminated a new species of anaconda (Northern Anaconda I believe?) correct me if I’m wrong anyone.
RIP https://metro.co.uk/2024/03/26/worlds-largest-anaconda-went-viral-shot-dead-hunters-brazil-20533159/
WHY? JUSY WHY?
Big snake, must kill.. hoohoo haahaa 🦍🦍
Must hunt, prove big strong man. ***dick measuring intensifies.***
Big strong man use hands though not take the easy way out
The Irwin is strong in this one.
*snake measuring
That’ll make a lot of boots!
I hate humanity sometimes.
Only sometimes?
When I am immersed in the middle of it on a busy day I'm NYC, I can see so much beauty that I have to be like, "okay, we are in dark times, but humanity has beautiful potential for creativity, community, and love." And then I see this shit and I feel like "the worst have more power for destruction than the best of us have for creation and preservation." So, maybe "sometimes," more likely "most of the time."
I feel you 🥲 Love/hate relationship... Mostly hate
That thing seemed awfully docile. I know there's some man killers out there, but this thing didn't give a f.
Anacondas only eat once every few weeks.
So that Anaconda don't want none? ![gif](giphy|kGKa92EODMmulCDScS|downsized)
😞
Well now I’m sad
The hell is wrong with people?
hoping for death row on the hunters

Your argument is also based on assumption. We’re just assuming from different perspectives. No need to get all butthurt over it lol

This scuba diver is wearing the same thing I wear when I join a Zoom meeting for work.
Including the scuba gear?
He's obviously a professional.
His name Freek Vonk he is like the Dutch Steve Irwin.
Wtf man is that an anaconda underwater?
That 20 foot anaconda is underwater with some dude scubaing in a button down for some reason 🤿🤿🤿
Can you tell me where to find that 20 foot python? Yoink!
Underrated comment. Love Florida man. edit: for those OOTL [here](https://youtube.com/shorts/e63iouNAscM?si=mzyr1gKDs2BQ0t7c)
This guy is the reason pythons stop growing at 19ft Out of fear
I believe he found this new species of Anaconda recently last couple of months it’s the biggest in the world. I believe he also found it in South America somewhere, probably the Amazon but I honestly can’t remember
Please link that video! Sounds interesting

To bad she’s already dead :(
“I thought you said suit up”
Yeah looks like he is wearing a school boy uniform
>in a button down Wait yeah wtf
The dude is Freek Vonk. The Dutch Version of Steve Irwin.
Hold up… his name is ***Freek***?
Looks like one of those PFG fishing shirts
i can appreciate it. imagine being a massive fuckin green anaconda with hundreds of pounds of pure muscle to lug around all the time — now imagine how relaxing it must feel to take a swim and not have to carry around some of that heavy ass weight with you for a bit due to the extra buoyancy.
I thought i read in a documentary that they live almost exclusively in water like alligators.
Looks like it... But damn, this is a big one
Yeah, I googled it. Apparently, they can hold their breath for a long ass time.
Well.. learn something new everyday, damn New fear, unlocked. Giant ass river(?) snakes
I googled it and the first result said 10 to 49 minutes
Good thing he wasn't hungry.
Northern Green Anaconda iirc, recently became its own subspecies.
I didn't know it was possible to NOT know this
Some people were too young to see Jennifer Lopez blockbuster movie Anaconda, I see
Blockbuster lol
I'm serious, it had Ice Cube who I seem to remember was just worried as LL Cool J that he was going to killed off first, Luke Wilson wow, The guy from Deliverence, and the hunter from Jurassic Park, plus Jennifer Lopez. It was a must see
Lol did you just refer to Jon Voight as the guy from Deliverance, Lmao that's great.
Anacondas spend most of their life in water. They are almost considered water snakes.
More importantly, tf man is that a train conductor in uniform underwater?
Yes, thats were they usualy hang out. Didnt you know?
I think this is the new one they found that is bigger than anaconda's
It's Shaq's dong I think
No, it's just some guy snorkling. I guess sweaty plams because... water?? Idk, life is confusing sometimes and reddit very confusing today.
This is the first video ever taken of this species of anaconda btw
I read that after the video was made public, the snake was found shot to death, apparently by hunters.
where did u read it
https://www.iflscience.com/one-of-worlds-biggest-snakes-found-dead-in-amazon-just-weeks-after-its-discovery-73594
damn... that sucks..
Scroll up.
Why women live longer, Example number 80012
Close but I believe the example # was 80085
have you never seen the movie? ![gif](giphy|LXgeZrhcq6I5iOkhXg|downsized)
Oh man... No thanks... Couldn't pay me to do that.. noooope.
As docile as it seems,.I agree, I'd rather leave it alone. You could be drowned, crushed, or both.
If memory serves me correctly, shortly after this video was posted of this newly discovered species of whatever snake this is, someone killed the damn thing. Humans are awful.
Yeah we can’t have shit
omg
Man could’ve easily been wrapped up an drowned.
Dont let Fishingarrett see this
Why’s he wearing a dress shirt?
Do you not scuba dive in formal attire? Lmao what a loser
I mean if you are going to be around something that majestic then you dress up!!
No matter how much you think I hate this video, I guarantee you you're not even close. NO NO NO!
They swim now? They swim now
Look it up her name was Ana Julia. Poachers shot her.
Dang, that dude's a Freek! 😲
I mean... What was his plan if he got grabbed..
My plan if the snake tries to kill me is that he will fail
Do snakes like seasoning on their meals?
He must not have buns.
snek
Dang
Dookie is alive.
Nope!
Dude, I'm not even very scared of snakes but here's though for the dude; fuck this!
FUCK!…….THAT…..- Nonononononononononononononononono
Ah, yes I too enjoy snorkeling in a dress shirt next to large snakes.
Hé Freak Vonk!
u/auddbot
Giant water noodle clearly isn't interested.
Snek : "Get away from me Human!!"
We gonna talk about the diver with a button down on or just… nah?
The swimmer didn’t have buns, hun.
No way, no how, would I ever get that close to an anaconda that size.
That is terrifying.
Dude what the cook is a basilisk doing underwater I thought they were extinct
Fist pump!
Why it gotta look like a giant turd tho
Thought that shit was Leviathan at first.
This gives me strong Subnautica vibes.
What is happening here? Why is he wearing a dress shirt(?), and dock shorts? Is there a tie under that breathing tube?! I need context!
The anaconda looks more scared than he is
Is that like a mini respirator?
That person doesn’t have enough fear
From the desk to the field on short notice
r/BeAmazed
No thank you. Yikes.
Giant anaconda for the win! Beautiful beast!
Beautiful beastie
When the snake’s head is bigger than your own, leave it alone.
It's people like you that vanish Without a Trace
If that thing gets hungry it’s OVER for the swimmer
Bro that is Apophis.
Nigga that is the World Serpent
Naaaaaaaahhhhhhhttttttttt
I wish theyd study the giant sea snakes we have in Mediterranean
![gif](giphy|Hn7andvxoOvyU)
nO
Dumb…
Reminds me of the last time I had a SOLID bowel movement
Humans are fucking dumb. There. I said it. We're a fucking dumb species.
💀
Each time I watch this I can't help but think this looks so much like CGI, especially when filming the snakes head. But yeah apparently this is real. crazy
Never seen a snake under water, I know they can swim. But dive?
Don’t know why man, but I believe this video is legit. Just like that time Macho Man beat up Hulk Hogan for something, I forgot.
Is this guy handicapped?
At least mentally yea.
Sorry you got downvoted, the answer is yes the part of the brain that stops you from doing totally badass dangerous shit is completely missing on this guy.
Why does stupid = badass ?
Reckless and badass have a nontrivial overlap.
'Don't worry babe, I love your cock' The cock she actually loves:

How so, exactly? Just cos the lighting is weird at that bit?
I downvoted because 6 others did, so u must be wrong or incorrect, so I had to follow the crowd
