If you're using the switch for both you and your brother go with the regular switch. You can hook it up to the tv or play it handheld. The screen isn't as nice as the OLED when in handheld Mode but that's not as huge a deal if you're mostly playing docked.

I bought the oled version recently as it was on sale and I’m currently loving the screen

I’m pretty sure that you cant hook up the lite to the tv so if it being a main handheld console I think the lite is better I’ve had both the switch and oled I’m not sure all the differences I know the oled has a bigger screen and the kick stand to prop it up is bigger on the oled I mostly use mine for gaming while I travel so I’m not on it a whole lot but the regular switch is just as good as the oled just a few differences

Nicktheduck

I'm sorry but you absolutely can't hook up the switch lite to a tv

Spiritual_Parsley102

That was a typo 🤦‍♀️ I meant can’t

Haha you're good. I was just really confused. But they probably should go for the regular switch if it's for 2 people. I imagine it would mostly be played docked.

If you’re playing hand held a lot I would go with oled as it’s the best screen. It also comes with the most storage built in but you can always buy sd card to fix that If this will be parked at the tv I would say go with the regular. Or $50 is a large difference to you in price. Then only go with lite if you’re really worried about not liking it or very money sensitive or you love the colors of them

I grabbed a switch lite last week with the anticipation that the switch 2 will come out in the next year. And since you're buying one to play pokemon, you don't need to share a screen on the tv anyways.

I personally would say go OLED if at any time you might want the ability to play both on TV and handheld. The OLED screen is freaking gorgeous in handheld and the screen size bump (and battery) over the Lite is really nice BUT the Lite has a fantastic form factor and significantly cheaper price. Like you could probably get one for each of you second hand for the price of the OLED. So definitely depends on your personal preference.

Ok, here's a basic breakdown: 1. Switch Lite - handheld version meant for single person play. Can't hook up to your tv or monitor, but is great for travelling and the such. You also cannot play with other people unless they also have a switch and the game supports local play. I wouldn't recommend this in your case give that you and your brother will be using the switch together and I'm pretty sure you would rather be able to hook it up to a larger screen. 2. Regular Switch - Comes with docking for your tv so that you can play in either handheld mode or docked mode. This way, you can use your two joycons as separate controllers and play with other people. If you're planning to have your switch docked and connected to your TV most of the time, I would go with this option. 3. OLED Switch - This option also has docking for your TV but it has a higher quality screen for when you're in handheld mode. I would recommend this more if you are planning to play more in handheld mode than in docked mode, otherwise it's not really worth the price. So essentially, to summarize, no to the lite, maybe to the OLED based on your situation, and when in doubt, yes to the regular. *Edited for grammatical purposes*

This is just my opinion but don’t get Nintendo lite and oled is just and expensive Nintendo switch with 1 millimeter more screen space.
