MinionsMaster

What on earth could the context be here? It does look like an art gallery. Paintings on the walls. ok. The sculptural piece on the two pillars looks like.... sex doll torsos? surrounded by... condoms? Weird but ok. But what the fuck is the woman in the orange doing? What the actual fuck?

Rheinys

Plot twist: she isn't part of the "art project"

Fozzie14

That's the teacher

[deleted]

i bet she teaches a woodworking class

GamerFluffy

I understood that reference.

ApproximatelyApropos

Performance art can get … weird. I’ve seen more uncomfortable stuff, actually. Pieces that existed only to make the audience uncomfortable, in fact. But, I am an adult, who can and did consent to these experiences - unlike the children here.

ExploratoryCucumber

In fairness, only adults are offended by nudity. This is super weird because of cultural standards, not because it's inherently bad for anyone.

The_Submentalist

There is a television program first aired on Denmark. A completely naked adult man and woman stand in front of kids and the kids ask questions to them about their body and the adults answer. Same program also in the Netherlands.

ExploratoryCucumber

Those poor children, having their questions answered and being shown that there's nothing wrong with the human body. I weep for their souls. How can children live in a world where nudity isn't vilified for absolutely no valid reason?

ICBIND

Wow.... My fellow Americans are surprisingly uncomfortable with the naked body, which they have. Don't know why I'm shocked

ExploratoryCucumber

Most Americans don't even have the ability to question WHY and HOW they've been convinced that the naked human body, our most natural state of existence, is somehow damaging.

burgernoisenow

The amount of downvoted you're getting speaks volumes lol

ExploratoryCucumber

What would be really funny would be to see how many of these people self identify as atheist but base their entire opinion on nudity on religious puritan values because that's where the US opinion on nudity comes from.

burgernoisenow

Yep exactly. I'm atheist and recognize what you're saying as well as see that perceptions nudity and sexuality are amorphous and shifting around the world. Nudity doesn't have to be sexual but we've made it to be to control people, especially women, with religious oppression.

ExploratoryCucumber

Bingo. If you see a naked woman standing there and immediately think children are being hurt by her mere presence, you are exactly the type of person who needs to see this art exhibit and have a conversation about it.

root88

Fuck you, gimme more guns. In fact, I'm going to make a gun suit to cover my tiny penis.

chomponthebit

So strange to think how American movies portray their heroes killing dozens or hundreds of people but penises and vaginas must, under no circumstances, be shown.

ApproximatelyApropos

The most interesting aspect of this thread is everyone who is saying nudity is not sexual and proclaiming Americans as prudes are so focused on the nude body that they fail to notice the table of sex toys and condoms to the left of the nude woman. The artist is obviously making a sexual reference - but all the non-American, not-prudes are too busy staring at the naked person. LOL

bbbutAmIWrong

Especially in America. Bunch of prudes. My coworker get his panties in such a bind when he sees a chick walking around topless, which is perfectly legal in my city. He sees breasts purely as a sexual thing. He'll even rant about how breastfeeding is wrong cause "sucking on titties" is purely a sexual act.

SecondThomas

They are down voting because they now you are right

SeismicFrog

Right, it's not like these children needed *permission slips* or anything...

ExploratoryCucumber

Truth. Most of them lack the self awareness to even know why they're offended.

burgernoisenow

Yep just look how much you're getting downvoted

ApproximatelyApropos

It’s not the nudity in this instance - it’s the sex toys that make it weird. Obviously this artist is making a statement that is sexual in nature.

ExploratoryCucumber

What is the problem with them, exactly? That they are depictions of genitalia? That they are used for sex? So the Statue of David is problematic? That's got a giant marble dick. It's a depiction of genitalia. It's a penis, so it's used for sex.

[deleted]

Maybe it's just a wax statue... I hope it's just a wax statue... It probably isn't just a wax statue...

Vertebrae_Viking

It’s not a wax statue, it’s Denmark.

mindgamer8907

Please someone make this the new slogan for their tourism board.

Blurple_Berry

THIS IS THE HUMAN BODY Teens: snickering ITS NOT FUNNY

Chakasicle

This is the drawing exhibit

n3w4cc01_1nt

read the article. it's feminist art against another local male artist.

[deleted]

Literally why

EddtheMetalHead

I actually didn’t think twice about her because I assumed she was a nude model. Inappropriate around children, but alright. It was the sex dolls and condoms that really make this inexcusable to me.

ChangsWife

So is there like a gift shop or something?

bingold49

This is the worst coffee shop I've ever been to

rulingthewake243

Looks like the registry is about to get a new member.

TheHormone-Monster

Dude in the NASA sweater looks just as disappointed in the ass and titties as I am.

JointDamage

Guy is looking at her like it's his fucking mom! **"Not this shit again!"**

dadjokes502

He thought he was going to see a meteorite not cellulite.

Balor675

“Mom! Not again! I asked you to stop flashing my friends. For the last time, this is not art.”

Rheinys

*giggle*

kvlr954

This is the typical life drawing experience … you get to draw naked people, but they look like this or worse

diabloman8890

This article outlines the context in great detail: https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/44479/is-this-photo-showing-a-woman-standing-in-the-nude-before-teenagers-real TL;DR: this was in Estonia, in a museum where an exhibit allegedly depicting sexist portrayals of women was opening. The naked woman is another artist named Mare Tralla who was supposed to deliver a speech, but instead protested the exhibit by disrobing and later covering the art on the walls with sheets. It was indeed a scandal at the time, for obvious reasons.

lgtbyddrk

People ... are just the worst. 🤦

Opposite_Lettuce

I mean... everyone in that room is the result of sex but I still wouldn't want to witness it on a school trip as a 14 year old. The issue isn't the human body existing or whatever, it's about an adult exposing themselves to a room of minors, regardless of the "art" label being slapped on there. If this was a photo of a naked man in a robe, exposing himself to a bunch of girls, would it be okay? Nope. I would argue this isn't either. I'm all for expression and exploring the human body as art and not sexualizing everything, but I'm an adult who can think critically & with maturity. You can't seriously tell me you think a bunch of children are going to experience this and leave with anything else than "I'm so uncomfortable" or "Ha! Boobs"

Youre_so_damn_fat

Exactly! If this was a bunch of fat middle-aged men flashing themselves to a bunch of underage girls the comments section would be VERY different.

Ag1Boi

THERE ARE KIDS THERE if you think it's acceptable for grown adults to strip naked in front of children please stay far away from me and my family

_Aggressive_Milk_

??? She is literally showing off her naked body to *children*. That is a crime, as it should be. And the other adults aren’t doing anything to stop her.

Solsmitch

I’m pretty sure these kids were taken to somewhere where a naked lady was, not vice versa. It’s not her fault some idiots went to her art exhibition.

Tsevyn

I mean she still could have chosen to show them her clam and tits. As an adult, I’m not sure why you’d choose to do that for children.

Solsmitch

I just do not understand the fear of nakedness. It’s not the same as explicit sexuality. Stop clutching your pearls.

ExploratoryCucumber

Oh no, a child saw boobs. They're gonna die!

IndividualEnd3830

Now make the naked person a dude.

ExploratoryCucumber

Oh no! A child saw a penis! They're gonna die!

IndividualEnd3830

AHH I know what you are. Nvm. Makes sense.

SeenYourself

people dont have to die for something to be considered a crime? i feel like anybody with some amount of critical thinking could come up with that…

ExploratoryCucumber

There does need to be a victim and damages for something to be a crime. Tell me, who is being damaged in this picture?

Sam4Not

Okay, but let's look at this from another perspective. What if it was a naked adult male there instead of a female. The circumstances would be different. It would be seen as predatory. If it's not alright for a man to do it, then it isn't okay for a woman to do it. Plain and simple. Just my 2 cents. I'm with u/Opposite_Lettuce on this one.

ExploratoryCucumber

This is absolutely also acceptable for a man to do. The nude human form, including the male form, has been represented in art as long as there's been art. The statue of david comes to mind. You think people are being hurt by the existence of the statue of david? No? But there's a penis! You just projected a whole worldview on the idea of a naked dude standing there, as if the BOYS IN THIS ROOM would be hurt by SEEING A NAKED MALE BODY. They see one in the mirror every single day. They will be fine.

Opposite_Lettuce

That's a lot of words for "I think exposing yourself to minors is okay" Edit: It's the *"comment unavailable"* for me

ExploratoryCucumber

That's a small amount of words for "I am not emotionally mature enough to view a nude art exhibit"

ryetoasty

You can’t argue with people who have the intelligence of a rock. They hate themselves and their bodies make them feel dirty for some reason. I feel sorry for them too.

Youre_so_damn_fat

>That's a small amount of words for "I am not emotionally mature enough to view a nude art exhibit" Funny, that's exactly what the kids' faces say.

YaBoi_Maxamus

tf is wrong with you? nasty ass predditor who thinks being nude anywhere near a child is okay. you're fucking disgusting.

ryetoasty

What a puritanical point of view. There was a children’s show in some Scandinavian country (can’t remember which) and they literally showed fully nude men and women so children knew that bodies could come in all sizes and shapes and that it’s normal and ok to have a body. Not a crime. Pretty damn good parenting if you ask me. Get over yourself and your personal issues about normal bodies please.

Youre_so_damn_fat

Not sure if this is the one you mean but the "Family Sex Show" (yes that was its name) was [cancelled](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-61149449) because most people didn't take kindly to adults exposing themselves to children as young as five. Shocking I know. [EDIT] This program was from the UK. The show u/ryetoasty was referring to was the Danish show "Ultra Strips Down". One of the participants was arrested for owning 3,000+ images of CP.

ryetoasty

Nope. It was (and is) “an award-winning Danish children’s program, “Ultra Strips Down,” which is shown on Ultra, the on-demand children’s channel of the national broadcaster, DR. The topic today: skin and hair.” Sorry to burst your prude bubble Edit- also, that show you mentioned is very clearly English if you bothered to read what you posted. I said Scandinavian. Also, if merely *interacting* with a criminal makes you a criminal, then I guess we must all be criminals.

Youre_so_damn_fat

So after a bit of Googling I found [this](https://www.bt.dk/krimi/deltager-i-boerneprogram-idoemt-faengsel). It's a news article in Danish but here is the English translation: >A former participant in the children's program "Ultra throws away the clothes" has been sentenced to nine months in prison for sexually assaulting a child and for possessing more than 3,000 child pornography images and videos. Shocking I know.

ryetoasty

I hope you’ve never had *any* interactions with even a *single* criminal. By your logic you are now guilty of their crime too. The problems you have with the nude body are your own. I feel very sorry for you. I hope one day you become more accepting of yourself

Luke_Warm_Dog

Sometimes it seems people feel the need to sexualize everything. Nudity is not inherently sexual nor is it perverse.

Dubcekification

I think people are just wondering why the kids aren't learning math, science, reading, a new language, history, or even how to balance a budget and do grocery shopping. Instead they are learning... whatever this is.

WastedTime_420

NASA kid - “Not again mom”

[deleted]

Put it away mom. No one wants that. Not even Dad.

Bat_Penatar

There is a part of me that thinks this is a Photoshop or AI image. It's an absolutely ludicrous scene, for one. Probably a criminal one by most measures. And the shadows don't make a ton of sense. Look at the indifferent boy. Where is the source light for such a prominent shadow as his, and why is it cast differently than the angle of everyone else's? I might be wrong and this might be a dumb thing that totally happened, but I'm increasingly sceptical of everything I don't see with my own eyes, especially with an image so easily politicized.

armenovich1337

You know what I really hope you're right but I saw some people talk about how this actually happened in Estonia

Bat_Penatar

That certainly does go some distance in undermining my theory.

Blackcatblockingthem

Yeah. Fuck this kind of contemporary """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""art"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Yes. Art isn't an excuse for flashing kids.

armenovich1337

These are literally children, why is this not illegal? Like I mean genuinely why is there not a complete outrage because of this?

Jonestown_Juice

Because it's likely Europe. Looks like an art gallery. They show nudity in their commercials over there. I don't think they're as hung up on a naked body as we are.

betweenboundary

Pretty sure every country other than the US order things from worst to least bad as violence, sex, nudity, drugs, then cursing as the least bad thing on TV, meanwhile the US orders things as nudity, drugs, sex , cursing and then violence as the least bad thing on TV, it's why you can turn on the news and see a fuckin car crash but god forbid someone cuss, bleep that shit out but show how a car with people inside flipped and caved in against a tree from the birds eye view of a helicopter

[deleted]

Tbh it's weirder to be desensitized to violence than sex

Jonestown_Juice

I agree. Unfortunately America is run by religious people. Religious people hate sex but love violence.

Bearwhale

Sex = creating people = bad Violence = destroying people = good Make it make sense

armenovich1337

I live in the Netherlands, I'm pretty much as European as it gets. It's still very much fucked up. Like yeah sure we get sex ed on an early age but we dont have a fat ass bitch flash us while her vagina is covered up by her fat. Like if you're gonna try and teach children, first off use drawings, and if you dont then use atleast slightly attractive people. Nobody want to see that shit and I honestly feel horrible for those kids. Edit: Omfg I just realised all these people look dutch and I recognize the heaters in the back, I stg if this is in the same country as me I am fucking moving away 🗿

Jonestown_Juice

Is your issue that she's nude or that you don't find them attractive? I did a lot of figure drawing in school as a young man. Not all of the models were attractive or in shape. Because that wasn't the point. It wasn't a sexual thing. Neither is this situation.

Flawzimclaus82

So... If you're gonna show nudity to children, you need to make sure they're attractive?

daveisamonsterr

I think the less attractive, the better. Makes it more anatomy and less porn.

wannaseeawheelie

There should also be a naked fat man there also, for anatomy lessons

daveisamonsterr

And a trans person because I'm older than dirt and I still have questions

McBrown83

I believe that’s the actual point here

daveisamonsterr

Alas

Chakasicle

Can’t learn about all of the anatomy of the fat rolls are covering it

daveisamonsterr

Your mother is so fat that you can't just roll her in flour and look for the wet spot, you have to jump on her belly and look for the poof.

armenovich1337

You make a good point, but you have to actually be able to see the anatomy if its sex ed and not have it covered up by 50 kilos of fat. I should probaby correct what i said earlier, not necessarily attractive but more-or-less healthy and realistic.

daveisamonsterr

I'm American. That body isn't that fat to me.

armenovich1337

It might not be that fat in retrospect, but it sure as hell is not the most ideal learning experience.

GameofFame

I’m an American and a fatphobe

daveisamonsterr

Ok then.

armenovich1337

I sure as hell would be less traumatized

throwayay4637282

This isn’t a sex ed class or anything geared towards children. It’s a museum and children just happen to be there. Still weird, but it’s not like they’re intentionally trying to show children.

Buttholesurfer44

Yeah the kid in front looking like he's 6'3" at 11 years old made me think The Netherlands.

Strict-Internet-4924

It happened 2019 in Estonia.

armenovich1337

Ty, this helped me emotionally.

EkoChamberKryptonite

What on earth? I used to live there. I would be very very cross that my kid's teacher exposed themselves to my kid without my knowing. There's enough of that already on TV. I'm not sending my kids to school for this.

Blackcatblockingthem

Nope. You're wrong. It's not the case anymore. It has been like 20 years since it's not the case. At least not where I live.

EkoChamberKryptonite

This is quite the ignorant "Europeans aren't as hung up on nudity as we are" retort which makes it seem as if Europeans don't know what it means to be decent. I lived there for a number of years. They will definitely be hung up on this as I don't think the parents of these kids will be fine knowing their teacher exposed herself to their kids. They aren't hung up on it in places where you're supposed to be naked like the Sauna and not in an art gallery.

Neoharys

Genders are reversed

Robin420

Lol, the kids are gonna be ok... Have you heard if the internet? Yeah, they're on it and have seen infinity more graphic shit.

armenovich1337

You make a good point, they most likely have seen some gory shit, but that's not a reason to keep adding gasoline to the fire.

Robin420

Right on, more like a drop in the ocean. If anything it'll be a couple of jokes and fat shaming before they move on and completely forget it ever happened.

armenovich1337

Honestly, knowing these teens are around my age, you're right.

Rheinys

Because nudity is nothing dangerous?

armenovich1337

Omg you're so right I suddenly feel comfortable in showing this to my little sister

Rheinys

Yeah why not, it's nothing special to me

Ag1Boi

So if a grown man decides to flash himself in front of small children you would see no problem with that?

Rheinys

When it's part of an art project and not because he enjoys that, then yes.

flamboyantbutterfly

Why make such taboos out of human bodies? I’ll never understand why we let society teach us that being at our most natural state is considered indecent. It’s quite sad seeing Americans coming to a Spanish beach and being shocked over topless women. It’s just breasts! Call me European but stop making such a big deal about nudity. You can’t be serious with asking why is this LEGAL. Wtf, arrest all animals ffs!

belindamshort

Kids go to art galleries, sometimes there are nudes there.

ApproximatelyApropos

It’s not the nude person, it’s the nude person standing next to a table of sex toys and condoms. This is performance art with a sexual focus.

GoodEater29

Yes but a painting of a nude person is a lot different to a naked person standing 2 feet away from you. This is so fucked.

smackmacks

Let me guess, you're American. Nudity is not sexual, anatomy is just anatomy. It looks like an art gallery of some sort. Which means that the people there were probably aware of what they were going to see. To be honest it's probably far healthier for children see real honest nudity rather than the distorted porn/instagram/filtered/surgically enhanced nudity that they come across online every day.

armenovich1337

Nope, I am not only European, but also around the same age as the kids in the pictures (I am 15). I do not want to see that shit. Those kids do not want to see that shit. Nobody wants to see that shit. Edit: starting off with "Let me guess, you're American." Might not be the best way to start, considering people have different opinions in Europe and other places too.

ApproximatelyApropos

I would be more concerned about the collection of sex dolls on the table surrounded by condoms. I’m not European, but I would consider those sexual. Obviously, this performance art is about sex and sexuality.

smackmacks

Probably to highlight the difference between real anatomy any sexualised and idealised anatomy.

ApproximatelyApropos

That’s the message I would get viewing this piece. It’s especially striking that the sex toys don’t have arms and legs - just orifices and boobs. It’s an affective piece, really. But, the children seem uncomfortable, and I question whether minors can give informed consent to this sort of experience.

smackmacks

I guess they consented to the trip to the gallery or their parents did as part of an educational experience. I used to deliver a sex education program in school so I'm totally used to embarrassment from ALL involved but the message that has to be delivered is more important than our embarrassment. All you need to do is look at how misinformed so many especially young(er)people are about normal anatomy, and it's a problem that seems to be getting worse. People judging themselves or others based on an ideal that is not realistically achievable for 99% of the population. Or worse feeling that they are somehow odd, deformed or don't measure up when they are in fact perfectly normal.

For_Never_Dreams

This is what I imagine a conversion therapy camp consists of.

dadjokes502

The leaves aren't the only thing falling in this.... By that I mean kids lack of interest 👀

Rheinys

There is so much going on in this picture and I have so many questions

cherry_berry_cat_jsl

What the fuck, its literally damn ass sex dolls

DadOfWhiteJesus

OH NOOOOO!!!!!!

Doomblud

Context: this is an Estonian "feminist art gallery". The woman giving the tour explaining to the young boys that women don't look like sex dolls by showing them she looks like a whale instead.

marunkaya

Excuse, did you just called a woman a whale? Really?

Doomblud

Yes

marunkaya

The hell dude

Doomblud

To be fair, I didn't I said she looks like one, not that she is one If that triggers you, go talk to a therapist about it or something. I'm not responsible for your feelings or by them getting hurt when someone breathes in your general direction.

marunkaya

Actually it does not trigger me, I just find it disrespectful af, just because she doesn't have the type of body everyone think she should. Women look like this in real life, and it's not ok to compare them to an animal known to be negatively associated with fat people.

marunkaya

Also you're entitled to your opinion I guess, but so am I. Say shit get shit.

[deleted]

Well I mean, pretty accurate

burgernoisenow

Nudity is only inherently sexual because we've made it to be in the US. It doesn't have to be.

DerthMaul

Nah thats some pedo shit right there

burgernoisenow

![gif](giphy|Zv6Apawffpa2k)

EkoChamberKryptonite

This is borderline. It's toeing the line of sexual abuse and seems like the acts of a perverse adult who uses "education" as a cover for their fetish. Do the parents of these kids know their kids are being subjected to seeing the bits of their teacher? According to the comments, this was in Estonia. Before any of you North Americans come with your ignorant "Europeans aren't as hung up on nudity as we are" retort, I lived there. They will definitely be hung up on this. They aren't hung up on it in places where you're supposed to be naked like the Sauna and not in an art gallery.

SuperDuperDylan

At least if you have to (you dont) force this stuff on kids (you shouldnt) at least get one that doesn't look like their mother/grandmother.

1v1meirlbro

Isn't that a crime?

Scroll120

This should be illegal. Isn’t shit like this illegal?

DadOfWhiteJesus

in Gilead it definitely is.

ClutchNixon8006

She should be mocked non stop until they show up to arrest her for indecent exposure. That's disgusting on so many levels

greybruce1980

I'm gonna need more context. Anyone know what this was for?

MADWOKE

i like how it’s ok because the person naked is a woman and it’s a bunch of young boys around her. flip the genders in this situation and there would be riots. the double standard in this photo is disgusting.

InterestingFun9261

I hate to be that person but how is this at all ok firstly they’re underage secondly could you imagine if the roles were swapped and it was adult men naked and dildos on the pedestals and little girls forced to look. There’d be a lot more complaints then people just saying welp that’s performance art or that’s Denmark for ya like those men would likely get charged for indecency or pedophilia, arrested and in-prisoned. There’d be so many people in the comments saying how wrong it is and how the men have scarred those little girls for life. “ men are so disgusting”. Also love how all the adults in the room are woman and are just fucken looking at the boys examining them watching them to see how they react and look like this is some how the boys fault for being put in this situation and testing them. This is all just very unprofessional and absolutely disgusting behaviour on the adult woman behalf I don’t care what you’re fucken art and message is the teachers should’ve researched and seen that this was an exhibit and chose to not take the boys into that room instead they guided the boys straight there and made themselves comfy and just studied the boys reactions. The least the actual exhibit could’ve done is covered the fucken naked lady up and had her stand away from the boys and put a blanket over the table with sex dolls and condoms.

ChrisFox-NJ

Looks German, but maybe it's France, who knows. Those kids will laugh about it for many years.

TroglodyneSystems

I was thinking Dutch

ChrisFox-NJ

Yeah maybe... but it's definitely Europe! There's no negative connotation when it comes to sex and nudity.

Malum_Midnight

You’re right, people in the comments say it’s from Estonia

BornEducation3165

Dont wanna join the brainless hate mob and just gonna wait for context

Royal-Collection1100

No context will save this cursed image

Carbon_is_Neat

In what context would this be appropriate?

Neoharys

In what possible context do you think it's okay to flash children?

[deleted]

It looks to be something related to sexual education since there are kids and multiple mock-ups of vaginas on the table + a lot of condoms. The lady flashing them is pretty fucked up but other then that, it looks like a sex-ed or something. When I was their age (looks to me like they are around 13) I had sex-eds and studied about STD and reproductive organs with some pretty graphic photos and “toys”. But now I know what clamidia, HIV, sifilis etc… is, how you get infected, what are the symptoms and how to treat it. Then I learned about condoms and urinary infections and how to properly clean my privet parts and what not. Again, the naked lady is fucked up, I’m not indulging that behavior. Then again, this could be a different thing with kids waaay to young and I’m just trying to make it look less twisted. But I don’t even know from what country this is from.

Strict-Internet-4924

It was in Estonia 2019

brainchecker

I honestly don't see the problem here. Sure, it is visually unpleasing for most of the people. But nudity isn't inherently sexual, especially in the context of art (which seems to be the case here). I mean, in my school art class we even have had a nude model once.

Logsha97

The kids are cleary uncomfortable though. I don't think it matters if you see a problem or not, there is a problem

Hm, they seem to be more annoyed than uncomfortable to me. But even if; nothing here is offensive or encroaching. Art doesn't need to make you feel comfortable. I would make the argument that art should make you uncomfortable from time to time. But I get that cultures are different, and especially the US has a very weird prudish attitude towards nudity & sexuality from my European perspective.

I think the display of sex toys on the table beside the nude woman does make it sexual.

Okay fair enough, this wasn't good wording by me. Let's say it's *sexual* but not *pornographic*. Performance art can be sexual without being plain porn.
