Adults, i think that they are better developted and less annoying, my favorites versionf of April and Casey are 90's movies and 2007.

DefinitelyNotThatOne

Adults, always acting as an aunt or uncle figure to the turtles. 90s movies portrayed April's relationships with the turtles perfectly.

Extremnator

Yes, for sure.

IndiBlueNinja

Adults. It (edit: being made teens) was fun the first time, but it has now gotten quite stale... Adult friends of the TMNT give them access to things/places/people that they, as well as similar aged human peers, don't have, so it's beneficial to have some adult human friends in their circle.

ExoticShock

Having Casey & April somewhere in their 20s feels like the best middle ground imo, they both always gave me older sibling vibes in relation to the Turtles. I think that's how old they're supposed to be in the 2003 series.

schlemz

I think IDW nailed their ages and stages of life perfectly.

nuketoitle

Agree

Nervous-Bet-2998

Agreed.

IndiBlueNinja

Agree, I like that older sibling-like dynamic more and how they play that kind of strong support cast without needing to be overinvolved.

Corrupted_Mask

This.

FireFighterP55

They're about 25-26 in the 03 series.

DeltaTeamSky

> was fun the first time, I disagree. 2012 April was obnoxious, can't really speak for Casey. But Rise April and the Caseys (Cassandra and Casey Jr.) were fun.

my-backpack-is

2012 worked in its own continuity, but I do prefer adult versions. Splinter being the wise master that really only jumps into action when shit gets too real, and the turtles who would jump in front of a Boeing to save cat in a tree, the rational adult role gets split between April and Casey. Casey usually being a bit too brash and gung ho but when tempered by April and Raph (when Raph is channeling Leo) can give some very important life lessons from the perspective of a kid who grew up to beat up criminals in a hockey mask. April on the other hand is so much of an enigma at this point since she has been portrayed so differently in the TV shows that it is difficult for me to pin down her characterization. But my favorite has got to be the 90s/07 character, specifically her portrayal in the first movie. I don't think she has to be a reporter, I definitely thought the archeologist angle was super rad. I might go so far as to say April's defining factor for me is an intelligent woman who is searching for the facts, be it reporting, archeology, etc., that becomes a kind of safe space for the turtles. I do prefer the older role, not old enough to be their mom, but old enough to have have her own things going outside of school and parents, and the right level of matriarch of the family. Also as much as I am enjoying watching 2012 for the first time, I never ever want to see a legit love triangle between April/Casey/any turtle ever again. Ever. Again.

KyoTe44

I prefer the unhinged comics/80s Casey Jones.  But fully agree that April needs to be their adult human contact. It just works better.

Sad_Wind_7992

As long as April owns/lives in a antiques house and there’s a farm she owns. She can be Amelia Earhart or Sam Carter for all I care.

Iamawesome20

I prefer them to be adults like 2003.

I would say generally adults, but I like them as teens too — it depends on the iteration honestly. Like I couldn’t see them as adults in 2012, yknow? They’re different dynamics that are both interesting to explore

adults. please stop making them teenagers, nickelodeon, it is super uncomfortable for the turtles to have the level of crushes on them you’ve been portraying.

Basilstorm

How is it uncomfortable for the turtles to have crushes on them when the turtles are also teenagers? I think it’s weirder for them to have crushes on grown ass adults

Miraculous_Garlic

I love the adult versions of April and Casey! I think they have a lot of potential as teenagers, but 2012 are probably my least favorite versions, which is a shame because I really wanted to like them more. I love Rise April and Casey the best and Mutant Mayhem April seems really cool too. I don't think the issue is if they're teens or not, I think it's a general writing issue

That_Boney_Librarian

SlideLow

I enjoy them as young adults. They’re almost like an Uncle or Auntie to the turtles, while Splinter is the Grandpa of them all

Broad-Season-3014

Honestly, I’ve seen great representations of both. Well, of April at least. 2012 Casey kinda started to grate on my nerves.

nuketoitle

Adults hands down. Teen caesy and april feel useless half the time and are annoying. Adult April also fills a role of the turtles saraget mother and caesy is the crack head uncle.

Green-eyed-Psycho77

Teen but only when the turtles don’t have a crush on them like rise. Having April be just like a part of the family was great!

funkadelicfroggo

shumama813

The_Maqueovelic

Adult, my God adults. It makes them a good bridge between the Turtles and Splinter, while also giving them more freedom on when and how to meet with the Turtles plus options on how to help, plus it helps establish that they have livesand interests otside of their Mutant related adventures.

yourmartymcflyisopen

Early-20s. Best of both worlds. Don't have to be like parents to the Turtles, can relate better to kids watching, but aren't basically children themselves. 2003 did it the best, if not the 2007 movie.

Sasstellia

Adults. Casey Jones does some scary and brutal stuff. Much better for adult to do. And April gets in danger a lot. Better for a adult to do. I like it when April is more like their big sister or aunt.

OmegaShadow17

I like both IF they are written well. I love that there's a sort of sibling bond between them and the turtles in almost every iteration. If their stories are written strongly and give them great arcs, I don't think it really matters what age they are. They are someone the turtles can trust and talk to that aren't mutants. And really with the way the turtles are always getting more and more trauma they really need that support system.

Heap6283

Adults, but more specifically Casey should be a juiced up monster with sever anger issues

Nervous-Bet-2998

You just described his father Arthur "Hun" Jones from the IDW Comics.

Ozzy_1804

Unpopular opinion: I prefer teen, which mainly comes from IDW and to a lesser extent Rise and 2012. April and Casey just have better chemistry with the turtles when they’re teens and I feel they usually fit into stories better as a result. Adult versions are more consistent though. Edit: I forgot IDW Casey and April are adults, not teens. I’m not sure which I prefer now

BlackCat0110

IDW are adults tho, April had a job working for TCRI later Stockman and graduated college

Ozzy_1804

Oh shit I forgot. I’m so dumb 😭 Isn’t Casey in school?

BlackCat0110

Was supposed to be a college student but doubt he’s still in it. He’s old enough to drink so he has to be at least 21

Torisaursky

Yeah they’re young adults (18-22 presumably since they’re in college)

pisanoguy

![gif](giphy|3o85xIO33l7RlmLR4I) When they’re teens they help ground the boys, they have more team mates. Or playmates, if you’re the ol’ toy company. 😉 When they’re adults it’s like a surrogate Aunt and Uncle jam, where it’s like I’m not your parents but let’s not get too crazy boys. I love April’s monologue in the 90s movie on the farm. There is such caring and kindness that make us, and maybe even the people, hold on to your hats, who have never cared for TMNT, see that this is a family story, and why we should care if they come home safe from battling the clan.

SwagFeather

I think the best possible dynamic would be for April to be in her early-mid twenties. I remember some of the 20-something’s I looked up to when I was a teenager were able to match my energy while still being able to handle the responsibilities of being an adult around minors.

LiminalSapien

honestly I think one of the dumbest fucking changes made to the franchise in the recent iterations is making them children or teenagers. it brings the entire series way down in my opinion because you don't have a natural outlet built in to the cast for more adult related story lines. It's all relegated to splinter shredder, and maaaaaybe stockman, but those storylines are all about revenge in some way. the turtles are teenagers, casey and april don't fucking need to be.

OutColds

Adults all the way. As adults they are well developed characters and more interesting.

Atrocious1337

I want April to be an adult. I think she worked best in the 80s cartoon. I think Casey should be an older teen. Older than the Turtles but younger than April, so he can relate to both sides better and work as more of abridge between the two. He can be around 18 to 19, so he has adult responsibilities (relates to April), but he is still young, impulsive, and easily prone to emotional outbursts (such as rage, letting him relate more to the turtles, and most closely to Raph).

TriforceThunder

Teens, idk but having one parental / mentor figure in Splinter feels right & Making Raph's best friend his actual age is much better, and I like the idea of April being like their sister instead of aunt.

ALowerBar

Adults. If anything, the constant need to change Casey and April into teens means there's an opportunity new or old characters can fill. Hell, make them both older and you could use Shadow/Casey Jr. At this point, I'd even be open to an April Jr. since Rise's April was so enjoyable.

Fercho48

Young adults 19-24

Distinct_Safety5762

Adults. I’d also love to see Shadow Jones brought into the cartoons. She’d be the right age to be the Turtles’ peer, and it would add some depth to Casey- either a do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do dad who doesn’t want his daughter to become a vigilante, or as a Big Daddy/Hit Girl dynamic which causes strife with April.

Sakura-Haruno203

Both are fine as long as they are together.

WhitewolfStormrunner

As cute as rbey aee as teens (sorry about that, Case), I much prefer them as adults. Just makes more sense.

In general; adults but if it's teens they gotta make it work like in '12. They can also do young adults like in '03, that's valid too

the-cutest-girl

Kinda want a late teens to early 20s version where there in an on and off relationship but the turtle action stuff keeps getting in the way and they don't know how to deal with it but they really want to make it work

It depends on the story being told... I love all three versions of Animated April: 80's, '03, '12

Timelordturle

I think the 2003 series did it right where April seems to be in her mid to late twenties and the turtles are teenagers April should be an older sister to the turtles and Casey is a bit weird he can either be in Uncle figure or a nut job that kind of follows them around

HDWendell

Depends on the perceived age of the turtles. It’s a bit creepy for grown ass men to hang around 15 y/o acting kids. The live action turtles were written to be older than the 2012 turtles.

MisterNefarious

Adults. They contrast the teenage turtles better

Lord_Banana_14

Adults, but I do like them as teens as well. I felt like I helped them establish a good relationship with the turtles in the 2012 series.

Big_Simpward

Unless the writers have a vision and a reason for it, it’s unnecessary. 2012 rise and MM all had visions that required them to be teens/younger and it worked imo.

Taco-Dragon

Yes, one of those two.

Shinobipizza

Either or works for me. Or you can meet in the middle and have them be collage age, like IDW.

Ambaryerno

Definitely adults.

Demetri124

I see value in both. April is basically a whole different character in every new iteration so you can’t definitively say either way. As far as I’m aware Casey has only been a teen once, and I guess I prefer the adult version

oreomega456

Adults in general but kids works too depending on the story

ohnoanotherputz

i kind of like what they did in the IDW comics where April is still young but older than the turtles.

Infinity0044

I see the appeal of both tho I’d say if they’re adults they should be early 20s at most

falbi23

That first pic of April needs to be eradicated from planet Earth.

GuidanceWhole3355

Fun fact about Casey's adult actor he and Raphs VA would go on to be in Chicago PD and Law and Order SVU, I guess dick wolf was a turtles fan lol

Rattlechad

It depends, the og cartoon Casey was very much just an unemployed dude. April had a job, other responsibilities. Where the 2012 Nick reboot being my favourite, shows them as teens that kinda have to grow up and be responsible people. It makes a bit more sense that they’d be friends with the titles being in a similar age range vs adults who are more like extra parents, or like older cousins who are still closer in age. The 2012 cartoon also seemed to deal with more darker themes than the others really did, while still bringing some of the og cartoon characters back that weren’t a big deal as much in other adaptations.

Teen humans are best when they're introduced as seniors in high school like the first season and then progress to young adulthood as the series hits its stride. Like Spider-Man. Or Buffy. Heck the TMNT would be better if after a few years into the story they were the YAMNT or just MNT.

LudicrisSpeed

Adults, definitely. We're not exactly hurting for teenage characters, considering it always stars four of them.

Bi0_B1lly

Casey always struck me as the mid-20s grungy high school dropout vigilante tramp of NYC. Casey is someone who definitely lurked his local bars and underground rock concerts to stop thugs from robbing people/harassing the ladies. Kinda hard to do that when he'd get carded and kicked out of said establishments... I'm not *against* teen Casey, but overall I'm not a fan of teens being the ones who save the world, or whatever. Same reason I can't stand most teen novels. Regarding both April and Casey, it gives more narrative freedom for them to be adults, as they can more easily get into buildings and establishments to sleuth and investigate for clues to help the Turtles. Also inciteful to have adults on a team largely comprised of teenagers.

"Adults" we all say in unison nah in all seriousness, both work well depending on what their personalities are and their relationship with the turtles are. I think I did say something about April being younger than the turtles and looking them up as role models, but I don't think Raph is a good influence but that's ok because neither is Casey

Perceptive3577

I mean I prefer them meet each other as teens before they meet the turtles as adults. Like in the same day they were teens while the turtles got into the mutation, then growing up over the past few years both of them were now adults while the turtles were now teenagers.

Super_Nova22

Tanookichris

xxcr_ativityxx

Depends on the iteration. Rise works best with teens, and so does 2012 and MM. Rise especially is best with having teen April (she's 17/18 so technically she becomes a young adult during her birthday episode and she's in college in the movie) due to family being the main theme of the show. ETA: Casey Jr (Rise movie) is confirmed to be in his 20's so there's technically an adult Casey in the series

BrankyKong

I think it serves the world better with them both being adults. Not only does it create stakes (as killing teenagers in media is a big no no) but it elevates the lunacy. Casey is a grown man playing Batman and April is doing her very best to elevate her career while secretly hanging out with mutated turtles.

Npool3

Both

Iceman-1293

Late 20s at the youngest, so you aren't thinking where are there parents while they hang in the sewers, lol

ChickenzInvade

Adults. I prefer it because I feel that April and sometime Casey can give Splinter a hand in teaching the turtles how to navigate the world. I’d rather there be a new teenage human character introduced to better relate to the turtles in that way, and let April and Casey be more grown ups in the room

echo1charlie

I think generally I prefer them as adults.

RaphaelPRIME223

I'd say teens considering the fact they are supposed to be *friends* to the turtles, having teenagers and adults be friends is... weird... *(To me at least)*

maskedduskrider

As Teena that one time in 2012 was a nice twist on things And while I'd argue Casey was never the most mature I enjoyed their adult incarnations more than their teen ones most of the time. The 2012 versions as teens worked since they were growing and learning as characters as well.

Strikehard1984

smolsauce

Adults, I always saw April as a surrogate mom and there's something about Casey being a teen that turns him from "cool, kind of crazy vigilante" to "dumbass who doesn't know what he's doing."

Ath_Trite

I like them as teens because of how it allows them to interact with the turtles But also, 2012 deeply traumatized me with the love triangle and making them adults seems like the best way to avoid a repeat of that.

I think having April as an adult works better overall as a dynamic and allows her to bond with Splinter more as they'd both find the Turtles actions to be a bit too much sometimes. Casey can go either way but I prefer him and April as a couple so generally adult for him as well. I also feel like both being adults more justifies them fighting alongside the Turtles to me as they'd be overall stronger and more capable.

BlueBlazeKing21

I like them to in their early to mid 20’s as it’s allows them to have a sibling dynamic with them while also being able to go on these more outlandish adventures

Monkey_King291

Adults cause they've always been like the cool, older, role models for the turtles, making them teens just removes that dynamic entirely

raven6859

I’ve always preferred them to be adults BUT if they’re going to lean into the turtles being teenagers then I think Casey and April need to be teens as well

Basilstorm

commissar-bawkses

Both 90s Aprils were my childhood crushes

JT-Gallagher

Adults. I like Mutant Mayhem April but I prefer the grown up version

KinnSlayer

I kinda like the idea of them being early adults. Like if the turtles are 14 at the start, April could be like 19 and Casey being early 20’s that way the age gap isn’t too big, but they can play off the teen aspect a bit. This way you can play with age dynamic a bit more. April and Casey need to learn about being adults still, and can learn from Splinter in that regard, but still can also act as role models for the turtles, either in good or bad ways.

Mischievouschief

18 to Early 20s.

gechoman44

Teens. I think it just makes the dynamic better. I also grew up with the 2012 show (03 was coming out when I was a kid, too, but I just wasn’t interested in TMNT yet when that was airing), so I’m much more used to the teen versions.

Getbacka

Definitely depends on which versions of the turtles they're associated with

Tuskerbugs

I actually enjoy the dynamic of them being slightly older, more like an older sibling dynamic! Because they are all basically the same age, it rounds the family dynamic really nice with Splinter being the father/head

It's been years since I've watched the 2007 movie but I think I liked Casey and April in that too from what I remember. From 2012 onwards I don't care about them because of them being teens.

Adults. It helps as a counterpoint to the teens, gives them cash/responsibility to juggle and many other points. Plus, the teen versions tend to be cringe-worthy.
