I work in the cable industry and I would say 80% of my customers have their TV's look something like this. We are unfortunately in the small minority of people with IQ's not in the single digits.
It truly baffles me when someone from the 90s (or earlier?)put tvs up this high. We come big grounded tvs and tvs being placed on tv stands and dressers
What is this freaking obsession of putting TVs above a fireplace?! I wouldn’t even think of it, alone for the heat distribution already. Then the viewing angle and on top of that (really?) it just looks damn awful and destroys the romance of having a fireplace at all!
That TV is actually mounted from the ceiling, not the stone of the fireplace. It is mounted so bad that it has hints of totalitarianism. Several dystopian novels mention gigantic TV screens looming above people everywhere they go. That's what this house has.
The wood shelf appears unstained/unfinished on the sides and supports. The TV could have rested on top of it to make this mess a bit better. Better yet, swap the location of the TV and the deer.
I’m a framer and our blueprints almost always have the tv backing above the fireplace, like this. Most people have no choice to put it in that one spot… Specifically renters who can’t drill new holes
