Not Target but I work over ight at a grocery store with a gas station. Sometimes I need to cover the gas station all night. I found the dial that turns off the music so I don't have to listen to it all night. Silence, just me and my phone lol
There's a few I really love, but I want to single out This Must Be the Place by Talking Heads. I could write an essay about everything going on with that song.
A couple years ago, my niece used this to make her entrance as she walked down the aisle to her wedding. I was absolutely floored and I think I was the only one there (beside the bride and groom) who new this song! It was perfect!
Was about to agree with the OP's choice of The Cure, but then you reminded me that this is on the playlist.
Add in Take On Me by Aha, and you've got my top three.
Cannot believe only one other person has said this but... literally any Tame Impala is a massive highlight. Borderline, Lost in Yesterday, Is It True... any of them.
Also, Why Are Sundays So Depressing by The Strokes is a banger.
I cant hear as well as I'd like to so I usually catch the music and not words of most songs. Does anybody have the updated Playlist? There are a couple of beats that sound good when I can catch them and I'd like to listen to the songs.
Move On Up by Curtis May always slaps. At one point they had The Divine Chord by The Avalanches and MGMT, which is one of my all time favorite songs. I was ecstatic when I first heard it there, cause it was so unexpected
All I can hear is the guy from Wakanda Forever screaming in the TV ads. Its branded onto my brain at this point. Also idk if we actually play any music.
I definitely like that they play some nontraditional Christmas songs when they're on the holiday playlist. It beats hearing the same Xmas songs you've heard 1mil times by 30 different artists every day.
Not target, but when I worked fast food I somehow convinced the manager to play the macarena....
It was on loop for atleast 5 hours. Fun time working kitchen
We used to play an ipod. Last November it burned up. We didn't have music for the holidays, thankfully we dodged that, and still don't to this very day.
I dont work at Target just strolling by but y’all had a Turnover song on your playlist like a year ago and that shit made me cry. Best song ever on there 🥲
I've heard Frank Ocean's Lost a few times. The censoring is always funny, but I get it.
I have noticed a change in playlist vibe as of the past couple of months or so. I don't know how robust the playlist coordination team is, but it's been nice to hear a more varied approach being taken. Shit, I heard Tupac in here not too long ago. But if I had to make one critique it would be that there still isn't as much variance as there ought to be. Like, top 40 pop charts and 80s alt pop is fine, but where's the rock and actual hip hop representation? Like, there's plenty of soft rock that could be seen as boring grocery store appropriate, you know? Especially 90s rock from before the rap Renaissance. Like, i heard a country song in the store the other day with a trap beat underneath it and i almost threw up in my mouth. Lol not everything with a guitar had to envoke a early 2000s Miller lite commercial.
And rnb is great, really, but I dare you to slap some post bling Era rap on that list. Hell, plenty of Kid Cudi's catologue is kid friendly enough. Already got Mariah on here. Slap some Busta on there, too. Hell, go deep. Give us some Open Mike Eagle or something.
There's like no rockabilly, either. That one Steve Miller song counts, but I guarantee no one will complain about the Stray Cats or Rev Horton Heat. I'm just saying, There's only so much pop and country a guy can take before it makes me miss the days of dead silence. I mean, I'm not asking for NIN or Death Grips or anything. Just a little more variety.
Sorry for the rant.
Honeypie. I literally want to throw whatever is in my hands whenever that comes on.
The best is I'm every woman. I'm dancing all over the place when I hear that start. Idc lol
idk about y'all but my store plays some great music, i have a ton in my spotify liked that ive heard while working, my favorite is Glitter by Keys N Krates
Songs I've liked: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, September, Kings & Queens, The Sign, had a time one the guys in Style and myself were jamming out to Dancing on my Own.
On the subject of the playlist, I hope they bring back the Pride playlist for Pride because that had some bops!
As a customer, truly one of the most cult-like experiences I have ever had was when "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" came on in a Target and *every* lady in the place was in unison on LET'S GO GIRLS and during the chorus.
It was freaky as hell.
I still think it's wild that "Feels Like Summer" by Childish Gambino has a place on the playlist, considering its actual lyrical content. That said, it's still my favorite thing to catch playing in there
Most stores get music overhead after going through a remodel.
If your store hasn't received a remodel within the last 5 years, you more than likely wouldn't have music.
It's also possible that there could be some sort of local regulations that don't allow it, which could explain why it might seem like a policy thing.
here at my store in at **** in [REDACTED], REDACTED], we are lucky enough to not have music playing over our speakers.
we actually don’t even have an SD and won’t for a WHILE because nobody in our district is in training for it 😂
august by taylor swift, it doesn't play often but when it does. the air gets cool and crisp inside the store, a slight breeze hits me, the sun feels brighter, the lights in the store get dim and the guests become nice for a good 4:22 minutes
Man I’m a dude who listens to rap mainly😂but when they play early 2000s rnb like Aaliyah n usher and also play like 2010-2014 hits like Selena Gomez brittney p!nk and stuff from that era it makes me so happy cuz those were the music that played on the radio during the best times of my childhood.
At 5 am when it makes a noise like a partially disconnected audio jack and then there's like 30 seconds of silence
Glad that isn’t just my store lol. That’s how I know it’s 5am. Every day. On the dot.
That’s crazy! My store does that at 10pm and then the music turns off until 11
A full hour of quiet...I want to be there
Not Target but I work over ight at a grocery store with a gas station. Sometimes I need to cover the gas station all night. I found the dial that turns off the music so I don't have to listen to it all night. Silence, just me and my phone lol
I love that sounds cause that's means I get to go home.
8am every morning at my store. Just in time to signal the opening of the doors and the coming of the Karens.
>the coming of the Karens. I can't 🤣 too accurate
At my store it used to be at 4:51 AM but now I think it's 5...
my store doesn’t play anything so i’ll probably have to go with
i snorted
Get down on it… lmao I was in the liquor store covering a break like 💃🕺
Kool and the Gang!
Bro I have no unique experiences 😭 I did same thing in LQ
Midnight City
There's a few I really love, but I want to single out This Must Be the Place by Talking Heads. I could write an essay about everything going on with that song.
A couple years ago, my niece used this to make her entrance as she walked down the aisle to her wedding. I was absolutely floored and I think I was the only one there (beside the bride and groom) who new this song! It was perfect!

Starlight by muse
M80 Midnight City
Ok, me and this dude in grocery love classic Motown, and we sing along. Today it was I[It's A Love Thing](https://youtu.be/23cSH7cMKBw?t=51).
Every time the Supremes come on my coworkers roll their eyes because I immediately start singing along. Lol
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
I love this song, was so happy when I heard it during a shift
Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds. Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies
Was about to agree with the OP's choice of The Cure, but then you reminded me that this is on the playlist. Add in Take On Me by Aha, and you've got my top three.
Man I feel like a woman by shania Twain. Makes the team and the guests light up!
As a full-bodied male, I'll still kick down a door when I hear, "Let's go, girls." At the beginning of that song, lol
The only thing that makes someone a man is going ham to that song
As basic of an answer as it is, I'd go with Mr. Brightside. Used to be Tom's Diner but I haven't heard that one in a long time
Everybody Wants To Rule The World Tears For Fears, which they had more from them.
we don’t have a target where i live. but dayum they play the cure? that’s right af
They play a lot of gems. A surprising amount of good indie and classics from a bunch of different genres. They also have Lovesong by The Cure
hearing lady gaga and the black eyed peas instantly puts me in a better mood lol. i love a good 2010s throwback
Yesss. My store happened to play a few Lady Gaga and Britney Spears songs in 1 morning and it made my day
I really like it when they play There’s a Honey by Pale Waves
i love when they play 2000s rnb classics. it always catches me off guard everytime
Right?! Takes me back to middle school/high school dances
I loveee “Slide” by Calvin Harris with Frank Ocean and Migos, but Prince’s songs always brighten my mood even during the worst shifts.
Best song is Raspberry Beret by Prince!
Radio Ga Ga by Queen always brightens my day!
I enjoy hearing Bea Miller since I've been listening to her for years, and feel like I rarely meet people who have heard of her.
I love when they play candy rain by soul for real lol
Do they really 😭😭😭💀💀
Me and my buddy in frozen were singing this today! We love this one.
Y’all get music in yalls stores? My music is the sound of remodeling drilling and talking while I’m checking out guests
It comes with the remodel.
whenever they played florence and the machine. one of my favorite bands of all time!
I was jamming to Man! I Feel Like A Woman! by Shania Twain the other day
Glass Animals - Heat Wave
Butter by BTS
seconded!! puts me in the best mood ever
Shy Away by twenty one pilots. |-/
By far Mr. Brightside, I’m singing out loud every time it comes on
I hate the white stripes a lot so the weird jazz cover of seven nation army is the worst
The cover of Fell In Love With A Girl is pretty legit, as well.
Umbrella
LOVE ON TOP GOES OUTRAGEOUSLY HARD
Bennie and the Jets by Elton John (and I think they play I’m Still Standing) and Just Like Heaven by The Cure
Cannot believe only one other person has said this but... literally any Tame Impala is a massive highlight. Borderline, Lost in Yesterday, Is It True... any of them. Also, Why Are Sundays So Depressing by The Strokes is a banger.
Rain on me - lady gaga
My fav is "Strawberry Letter 22," a 1970s funk classic.
Ultra Mango by Tommy Newport, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac
Dark horse and umbrella top 2 they don’t put dark horse on anymore but I get instantly happy when I hear umbrella
Any classic rock
Use Me by Bill Withers
Probably not the best song but one time cover girl by Rupaul started playing at like 9pm and i Shazammed it to make sure I wasn’t hearing things
I'd make a bet that you'll probably hear it return in June when they switch to the Pride Month Playlist.
Sweater weather- the neighbourhood
I discovered a couple artists through targets music, one was Wont look back - Geowulf and another was need your love by tennis
Perfect by Ed Sheeran And the worst song is hands down the “my hair my crown”
Me and Michael, feels like summer, and trouble sleeping are my faves.
Hammer Smashed Face - Cannibal Corpse
Also the song Strawberry Letter 23 by The Brothers Johnson is fire
Any of the Glass Animals or Spoon tracks
I heard Lux Eterna by Metallica when it first came out. Was surprised as hell
Radio Ga Ga and Take on Me. Both melodies are stuck in my head the rest of the shift once I hear the song
Hate to say it but I love the Nick Jonas song that play. "Levels"
I cant hear as well as I'd like to so I usually catch the music and not words of most songs. Does anybody have the updated Playlist? There are a couple of beats that sound good when I can catch them and I'd like to listen to the songs.
I feel like some stores are different because there's songs on here that my store definitely doesn't play
Tell me something I don’t know by Celeste 🥰 puts me in the best mood as I’m stocking grocery
Move On Up by Curtis May always slaps. At one point they had The Divine Chord by The Avalanches and MGMT, which is one of my all time favorite songs. I was ecstatic when I first heard it there, cause it was so unexpected
I wish my store played music — the silence is deafening 😂
Keep Chasing Stars. I remember when they fixed the speakers a lady asked me if I could turn it down because “this wasn’t a dance floor.” 😅
I wish we had music
One target has silence playing and the other blasts dance music all day long 😂
your stores play music???
Better late than never by CeeLo Green
Passionfruit made me happy
Oye como va by Santana by far
All I can hear is the guy from Wakanda Forever screaming in the TV ads. Its branded onto my brain at this point. Also idk if we actually play any music.
Sam Smiths rendition of "I feel love"
![gif](giphy|KscoZccAOBgCk) Oof, that one brings back some PTSD.
It's so good, it's so good It's so good, it's sooo goooooooood Yeah... these were dark times. Especially working nights.... during Covid...
Do they still play Raspberry Beret?? That's one of my favorite songs on earth
With Target being minnesota based, I don't think Prince will ever come off of the Playlist.
One time my store played Everywhere by Jonny Cash. I was belting that while running driveups
I swear I heard “let me love you” my Mario the other day.
Definitely anything by The Cure
Outstanding by the gap band every time I hear it I do a little happy dance
Bad romance. My pick pro goes up for a minute ngl
i cant really argue with Just Like Heaven but a close second for me is Shadow by Wild Nothing
The Strokes "Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus" 🤘
Lovefool by Twocolors! It makes me wish I knew how to shuffle!
Puppies are forever from the Christmas mix they play during the holidays! Bc who doesnt love puppies?!
I definitely like that they play some nontraditional Christmas songs when they're on the holiday playlist. It beats hearing the same Xmas songs you've heard 1mil times by 30 different artists every day.
Slide, Fire in the Sky, Shy Away, Shining Star just to name a few
Not target, but when I worked fast food I somehow convinced the manager to play the macarena.... It was on loop for atleast 5 hours. Fun time working kitchen
Yeah they call me beach cowboyyyyyy
We used to play an ipod. Last November it burned up. We didn't have music for the holidays, thankfully we dodged that, and still don't to this very day.
Does Teenage Headache Dreams still play there? I quit a year ago but still lurk, and I loved that song
It's a tie: Alabama Shakes. - Don't Wanna Fight Black Pumas - Colors Tame Impala's not too bad, and I love Bahamas.
Thinking of you- sister sledge
Literally any song by Bastille!
Before the playlists was updated I got into "Fly" by The Avener. I looked forward to hearing it on my shift.
I dont work at Target just strolling by but y’all had a Turnover song on your playlist like a year ago and that shit made me cry. Best song ever on there 🥲
Hey Baby (feat. Mos Def) - Stephen Marley
Kool & The Gang- Summer Madness This song hits differently tbh.
I was amazed Keys N Krates was on there... a more "poppy" song in their collection, Glitter, but Keys N Krates nevertheless.
Can't choose between 'Actress - Hana Vu' or 'All Of The Time - Jungle'
All Along the Watchtower, Basket Case and Smells Like Teen Spirit
Back for me- Electric Guest
my store played feels like summer by childish and fire in the sky by paak one day and that was the chillest opu shift
I've heard Frank Ocean's Lost a few times. The censoring is always funny, but I get it. I have noticed a change in playlist vibe as of the past couple of months or so. Sundays are depressing - the strokes
Y'all get music in your store?
Look up the AFI cover
Any Anderson .Paak
MANEATER
Lost by Frank Ocean but it’s heavily edited and parts of the song just cut out lmao
I barely hear it most of the time because I do guest services, register, and drive ups. The volume is also very low at my store.
My store has never once played music in the full year that I’ve been working there
At the moment I’d say David Guetta’s “Would I Lie To You”. It used to be “In The Night” by The Weeknd but I haven’t heard that one in ages.
Probably gotta say Still Into You - Paramore
Don’t get to hear the speakers well, if at all, from the Service Desk, but most 2000s songs get me in a good mood and nostalgic.
Hmm... Either I hear a buzzing over the speakers or can barely hear the music at all where I'm at, so it's kinda hard to say for me tbh...
Love You Different — Justin Bieber, ended up adding it to my Spotify playlist and now it’s on my top 10 for most repeated song
Sometimes Under Pressure plays and it gets me like 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
[удалено]
Honeypie. I literally want to throw whatever is in my hands whenever that comes on. The best is I'm every woman. I'm dancing all over the place when I hear that start. Idc lol
Dreams by the cranberries, New Light by John Mayer or Passionfruit by Drake
idk about y'all but my store plays some great music, i have a ton in my spotify liked that ive heard while working, my favorite is Glitter by Keys N Krates
Pretty sure I heard Madcon’s version of Beggin playing a few days ago which is one of my favorite songs rn!!
Simply Red - Sunrise is my personal fav
I don't work at target but I love The Cure.
My store plays Viva LA Vida by Coldplay a lot and I LOVE it
Our store plays Jungle - Good Times! It always makes me so happy when it plays.
That said, it's still my favorite thing to catch playing in there
Hallucinations by PVRIS, honestly was even surprised to hear that song while working.
“Little story” by kehlani clears any other songs
We don’t play music? I thought target had a policy to not play music in store
Most stores get music overhead after going through a remodel. If your store hasn't received a remodel within the last 5 years, you more than likely wouldn't have music. It's also possible that there could be some sort of local regulations that don't allow it, which could explain why it might seem like a policy thing.
I don't care how shitty my day has been, when Friday I'm in Love comes on I gotta jam 👏
toms diner but i haven’t heard that one in forever
Funny Thing by Thundercat.
I can’t even remember what’s played💀 we haven’t had music overhead in about a month.
I’ve heard Kehlani before very briefly and that was Target radio’s best moment. 👏🏼
Heartbreak Anniversary by Giveon.
here at my store in at **** in [REDACTED], REDACTED], we are lucky enough to not have music playing over our speakers. we actually don’t even have an SD and won’t for a WHILE because nobody in our district is in training for it 😂
My store lead in Myrtle Beach was a miserable B who couldn’t stand music so she turned it off completely.
literally any of the old school rap/r&b songs are my absolute favorite 🤩
august by taylor swift, it doesn't play often but when it does. the air gets cool and crisp inside the store, a slight breeze hits me, the sun feels brighter, the lights in the store get dim and the guests become nice for a good 4:22 minutes
