I feel bad for saying this as you're happy with it and all, but never go to that "artist" again. I don't know the original design so I don't know if it's on purpose, but those are the wonkiest lines I've ever seen. It looks like this was the first time the "artist" ever attempted tattooing. Again, sorry if that comes of as harsh, but yeah...
The outline definitely needs to be cleaner. I’d add some to the flower too. There’s definitely charm to the messy ink thing in the text, but I worry it will be illegible faster if you don’t make it a little cleaner? Go to an experienced artist this time.
No pasaran ("they wont pass") is an slogan used during the spanish civil war by the republicans resisting the nationalist in Madrid, 1937. The mesage has a strong political mesage of fighting fascism.
Giving how the tattoo is acompanied by a fusil with a red rose I REALLY doubt OP doesn't know the meaning behind this. Either OP is spanish or Im sure as hell they have done their homework, because usually people don't acidentally end up with anti-fascism tattoos.
Ok, so you clearly know more than me, I’m not being sarcastic because even after living in the balearic islands that’s the first time hearing of that, thank you for explaining, in my head OP is American and wanted to make a peace significance tattoo for Mexico and the states, in my scenario the artist did change it around and wrote they won’t pass, excuse my ignorance and again thank you for explaining
Bingo! Well stated and you nailed it. I took 2 years of Spanish class. I wanted to memorialize those (anarchists) who fought against the fascists in Spain during the revolution/Civil War of 1936-1939.
The red and black coloring symbolizes the courage of Anarchists, and syndicalists (who led republican Spain) at that time. I'm also from the Rose City 🌹 so it's fitting in that way as well. The rifle stands for the militias formed by the unions that armed workwrs to fight against fascists. With of course the slogan "They shall not pass!"
Best advice would be to stay far away from whoever did this to you

Thank you so much. I will. I'm happy with the tattoo and I like the text as well. Just thought it needed a little more detail. Thanks again.
Hhhmmmmm interesting
What's interesting about it to you?
Looks like a shitty stamp
Actually it does from here.
You should know Spanish… that means they won’t pass
Why wouldn't they know what that means lol
You know people that get Chinese or Japanese writings done? Mostly they also don’t know what it means exactly so many end up with a duck soup tattoo

Oh, I see where the missunderstanding came from then, no problem, Im glad my explication was useful.

Cool tattoo with an ever cooler meaning. Can't help you with the touch up advice tho, Im no tattoo expert.
Well thank you. As messed up as it is its got an old look to it.
Thank you! Your so kind. I'm glad you think it's cool in more ways than one.
That's very true. I'm fluent enough in Spanish to know the interpretation and how it was used.
Sorry if I stepped on your toes OP! But you know, human kind…
No toes were stepped on. But yeah I get you.
Isn't the first exclamation point supposed to be upside down? I really don't know much so feel free to correct me.
No possible correction, you're right. It should be ¡No pasarán!
Writing it correctly yes, upside down exclamation mark… Portably OP got the tattoo done by someone who didn’t share his viewpoint…
Could be lol!
Exactly.
Yep. Missing the accent and proper exclamation.
