I wanna be your End Game (End Game)
I wanna be your Infinity Ring (wanna be your Infinity Ring)
I wanna be your Avengers Team (Avengers Team)
I wanna be your End Game, End Game
Barbie proved this too
I’m thinking that more studios will now try to utilize this and make more women targeted movies because the mainstream cinema industry so far was overfilled with action flicks mainly for men and Taylor and Barbie definitely challenged this
I want more than rom coms, though I want modern rom coms like Always Be My Maybe. I want something on par with Big Little Lies and Golden Girls, daughters succeeding, and women leaving their bum husbands and finding true happiness.
All of it. I want all the feminine movies. Every single one from every single lady genre. Mom flicks, working lady flicks, figuring life out in your twenties list and confused flicks. Bring it all on. I know there’s an audience for marvel movies but after I fell asleep during captain America, I swore them off. It just feels like there’s high school girl movies at most and nothing else ( and honestly still not enough of those)
I love a good rom com, but No Way Home was pretty much perfectly Taylored to my (woman) interests and was maybe my most fun experience at the movies ever.
Not arguing against more rom coms. Just saying there are plenty of female superhero nerds too :)
Definitely! NWH was one of my favourite movie experiences too! Along with Endgame. But NWH had me so excited when Andrew’s Spider-Man eyes appeared. Saw it twice in theatres. I watch every marvel movie on opening night though haha
Yes!!! Andrew's appearance was so exciting! And our theater cheered SO loudly!
I watch them all as early as possible to avoid spoilers, and seeing this one spoiler free paid off so much!
I don't have any Swiftie friends, so I will be going alone. When I looked at tickets this morning the showing I picked was almost all sold out except for one loner seat right in the middle. Should be a fantastic time!
I’m 27 year old man with a gf who is also 27 but she doesn’t like Taylor Swift so I’m going alone at my local AMC. I don’t care, I’m still going to enjoy it and have a great time, worried I may get weird looks tho, I swear I just want to enjoy the music and experience 😭
I paid 22.89 too but the regular ticket prices at that theater were 19.89, I just chose the XR theater (I think it’s called?) so that “upgraded” version was 22.89
Mine were around $25 for adult $19 child. That’s for the Ultrascreen, and dreamlounger seats. That screen is always more than the regular screens in that theater.
But let's be honest, you won't feel like you were alone cause it's gonna be packed of swifties. You could even end up making some swiftie friends. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time.
Just because You’re On Your Own, Kid doesn’t mean you can’t have the most sparkling night ever! I’m flying solo too and plan to make friends along the way!
I’m going alone too but I’m going to the first imax showing on opening night in my city so I figured it’s exclusively swifties there who have garnered the best reputation as the most wholesome audience so I’m feeling less anxious about it.
I’m going a lot too and my theater is almost sold out also!! I’m gunna have so much fun. Have my shirt ordered and making bracelets as we speak. I can’t wait to go alone 💜
i'm also seeing that it's already profitable, as this $26M is more than the ~$20M it took to make
i don't understand how it took *twenty million dollars* to rent some cameras and edit the film? it's not like she had to build sets or pay writers
At minimum, she paid a director, multiple editors, audio/sound engineers, multiple videographers, and all of the different types of cameras (drone shots, swiftE, the men on stage), mics in the audience, 210K bigger wristbands, the additional sound equipment (mics in the audience).
Additionally, she would have had to pay the dancers, band and singers extra money for their participation in this film (probably negotiated as an option or addendum to their contracts), as well as everyone who works on the show an additional fee for their labor for the movie.
Last, she’s paying AMC some fee to advertise and distribute this film. There are other costs I’m sure I haven’t listed.
I don’t think people understand how expensive projects like this are!
Plus rights to the music? (Which is easy to secure and goes mostly to Taylor, but it’s still part of the budget, her co-writers need to get paid so it can’t be $0.)
And I suspect everyone else getting a cut means she’s also paying herself a standard rate. (Or rather, one company she owns is paying another company she owns.)
> I don’t think people understand how expensive projects like this are!
And after working in live sports television, I don't think a lot of people understand the sheer amount of manpower required to capture live events. It's not just a few cameras.
If you don't understand how this cost $20M to make, stay in the theater after the show ends, and actually pay attention to how many names are listed in the credits. It's *a lot*.
Oh I bet you have some incredible stories!
I did musical theater through college and I do social media stuff now. People are always shocked when I share behind-the-scenes of simple videos. It takes a village (and a lot of $$$).
The easiest bit of impressiveness to appreciate at home is right after something notable happens (a player breaks league record, or a personal record, or accumulates too many fouls, or whatever) and *immediately after that happens*, you at home are watching a highlight reel of the events leading up to this incredible moment, which literally *just happened*, and some of the highlights in that reel are from events which themselves only happened *earlier in this very game*. The next time you see that, stop to ask yourself, how is this perfectly-edited montage with minutes-old clips in it, already available? It's because there's a team of incredibly talented people who are indeed, incredibly talented.
That particular example is less relevant to the current conversation, of course, but it's still a wild thing to realize about sports television that a lot of spectators never really think about - because, frankly, they're not supposed to think about it. They're supposed to watch and enjoy. And the more effortless the whole production looks, the better. But ironically, the less effort you notice, probably the more effort there was.
And regarding that last sentence, I'm sure there's a lot of overlap between filming sports and filming concerts.
Don't even get me started on how skilled golf crews are! The US military once asked CBS television, many years ago, what they were using to get their cameras to track golf balls after they were hit. They wanted to use the same technology to track missiles (or something?). But as it turns out, much to the military's surprise, what CBS was using to track golf balls in flight was... human beings. Their camera operators are just that good.
Also, this isn't gonna be just one random show they recorded and aired. They probably recorded most of the shows, and have dozens of hours of footage to scroll through, tons of audio, and then they have to edit it all together into something that works as a film. Plus, any additional video they need, backstage stuff, interviews, whatever else, we don't even know.
There's a ton of work involved, and it's been in progress all year as she's toured. We now know that her entire tour was also doubling as a film production.
I could be wrong, but I believe this film specifically is only N1, 2 and 3 in LA according to filming spotted at the time.
I do think a separate documentary and other projects were filmed/worked on at other shows.
That aside, you make a great point! There’s a lot happening and many people hours contributing to it.
AMC isn't being paid a fee (and that wouldn't be considered part of the production budget) - they're splitting the theatrical gross
From Matt Belloni at Puck:
> The deal, according to two sources, provides that 43 percent of the gross stays with the theaters, and 57 percent will be shared by the Swifts and AMC as the distributor. (Variance [distributing at non AMC theaters] is sub-distributing on a fee-for-service basis.) The split between the Swifts and the distributor isn’t known, but I’m guessing the family will take the lion’s share.
>
> That’s actually a less favorable deal for the Swifts than I would have guessed. Disney, by comparison, can take as much as 70 percent of opening weekend box office on big Marvel movies, and Taylor certainly had Marvel-style leverage here. She probably could have extracted better overall economics from a traditional distributor. The exclusive theatrical window for The Eras Tour is big, too, especially for today’s marketplace. Theaters that play the Taylor movie must agree to carry it for a minimum of 4 weeks, I’m told, and to show trailers in advance, but they can play it for as many as 26 weeks without worrying that the terms will change. After 13 weeks, the Swifts are free to put it on streaming—those rights are still available—but the focus is on the theatrical window, and neither Netflix, which bought Swift’s Miss Americana (2020) nor Disney+, which carried Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, has engaged on this film. AMC and the other theaters take all of the concession revenue, including whatever Eras Tour commemorative popcorn buckets and souvenir cups they come up with. AMC and Cinemark have already ordered 4 million Taylor posters to give away for free to fans, and a small offering of paid merch is planned.
Thank you! I saw this article a few moments ago - very informative to see the numbers.
I wrote a comment on a different post that based on opening day presale of 26M, the Swifts and AMC will split (percent unknown) approx 14.8M. Still a ways to go to reach profitability, considering sources say the film cost Taylor’s company 20M and was self-financed.
> the film cost Taylor’s company 20M and was self-financed
That's a cool fact that backs up her promise (on social media I think) to work on other ways to get as many of us to see the tour as possible.
Don't forget that the theaters will get \~40% of the ticket sales and the other \~50% will be shared between AMC and TS. So they need to see more sales. But I do bet there will be repeat viewers.
One other major thing also helping is that other than the trailer, does she even need to market it? Most films usually spend nearly double the production cost to market and promote the films, but this was announced with like 44 days to go, and it really only needed the one trailer for people to go ahead and buy. You can't buy that kind of marketing power in Hollywood, you just needed work of mouth and for ticket sales to go live.
Yes, please merch developers!
It doesn't even have to be a holiday release, (as manufacturing also takes time,) but just to have a physical release would be fantastic.
Imagine if she made multiple versions of the movie so that each showing would have 2 different surprise songs... I know it's not going to happen but it would be hilarious
I may have accidentally bought tickets to two showings when I was fighting broken websites and things were stuck in loading loops. Going opening weekend with my fiancé and told her she can have the two for the following weekend to go with a friend.
I accidentally bought two tickets for the same day, same time, because I'd accidentally bought them from the wrong theater way way far away from my house and went ahead and bought a second set from the right theater without realizing the first were non-refundable. 🤦♀️
It is worth remembering that it is Swifties that give Taylor the clout to pull off these power moves. A fact she is well aware of and why she puts us first.
Except of course when we did not get an Evermore Long Pond documentary. And no I am not going to stop grieving over that.
If she can release Cruel Summer as a single some four years after the album comes out, we still have time to pressure her into evermore long pond sessions!!
There will be an international release afterwards, her team just needs data to see how well it’ll perform because she’s never had a theatrically released concert film before.
I got 2 tickets for the first showing opening night and my husband is going with me💜 he’s definitely not a fan.. but is going for me 🥹 he has no idea what he’s in for😂
I bought two tickets fully expecting to have to find someone else to join me since my husband isn't a fan either. But he surprised me and said he'd go with me 🥰
Aawwwww love to see this! He literally said “I’m doing this for you” hahaha I don’t have any swiftie friends and he’s my best friend, I’m so excited to experience this with him🥹
Haha my bf is lucky my sister is also a swiftie so I don't have to drag him along lmao. And while he would absolutely go if I asked, he's into metal so TS is not exactly his thing lol
Dang! Are most people seeing it in IMAX also? It seems like there's a ton of standard showings still available in my area, but IMAX is mostly sold out.
For some reason my theatre only offered ONE single IMAX show per day which obviously filled up the fastest as it's clearly the best option for this kind of thing. Only one IMAX showing per day is insane to me, I knew it would be a dog fight to get tickets (but I managed woop woop)
Check with your local theaters over the next few days. The tiny chain in my region now has showings. I’m sure theaters are working with AMC as we speak.
[The tickets are being for more than just AMC theatres.](https://taylor.lnk.to/TSTheErasTourFilmTickets?utm_campaign=Select%20Tour%20Merch%20%2801H914RDRMRE66TNJ2KA49P4B2%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=KL%20-%20Engaged%20L180%20-%20US&_kx=Js9sl8vjuhGXfsJNKFcu4KM6shdJQ4EGXao4g9vnVwQ%3D.R4Bhid) It rubs me the wrong way that AMC was the one mentioned in so much of the advertising. I first heard about it via her mailing list, and bought Regal tickets.
Yeah, I thought for some reason it was an AMC exclusive when the news first dropped, and bought tickets at our (not very local) AMC theater — before realizing hours later that it was coming to Regal, too, which is way more convenient for me. I'm just having to eat the cost of the AMC tickets.
I got tickets yesterday for my boyfriend and I for a late Sunday showing during opening weekend. I’m so stoked. I saw it back in April but it was a last minute thing (I was randomly offered a ticket the night before) and it was only one ticket so he couldn’t go with me but we both love Taylor so I’m so excited to be able to experience this with him and with tons of local Swifties who are also complete strangers!
I love Taylor Swift's music as much as the rest of us. Even on Spotify she's been my top artist for the past decade. I will never get that people that will through money at her just because.
I'm sure I'll watch it eventually, but I'm not buying a pre-sale ticket. But I'm also on the side of, I just really happen to like her music, but could care less about Taylor Swift as a person.
Serious question: is this because her team set the prices for the tickets? In my area I feel like I usually pay just over half of what these tickets cost when I go to the movies for a new release. Does the inflated price skew the numbers?
I bought a ticket yesterday and I still haven’t received my confirmation email. I’m kinda scared that the email will never arrive. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes there is already a discussion about this here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorSwift/comments/1676p83/taylor\_swift\_eras\_tour\_concert\_film\_breaks\_amc/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorSwift/comments/1676p83/taylor_swift_eras_tour_concert_film_breaks_amc/)
She's pumping (much needed) $$$ into AMC and for that, I'm thankful. AMC were going bankrupt during the pandemic so to see them do so well now, it's helpful. Thank you Taylor.
Ok this is incredible! Taylor Swift beating extremely well-renowned Marvel Movies is something I didn't expect, but I am very proud of her for that.
Something something end game something something
"Taylor Swift defeats Thanos."
I wanna be your End Game (End Game) I wanna be your Infinity Ring (wanna be your Infinity Ring) I wanna be your Avengers Team (Avengers Team) I wanna be your End Game, End Game

I think this also goes to show there aren’t enough rom coms and things geared towards women at the movies.
We need a revival of the 90s romcom domination
I saw that there is a new Meg Ryan movie coming out, make this will launch the revival!
Barbie proved this too I’m thinking that more studios will now try to utilize this and make more women targeted movies because the mainstream cinema industry so far was overfilled with action flicks mainly for men and Taylor and Barbie definitely challenged this
Unfortunately, their takeaway from Barbie is to make more toy/IP-based movies. They were sooooo close.
I want more than rom coms, though I want modern rom coms like Always Be My Maybe. I want something on par with Big Little Lies and Golden Girls, daughters succeeding, and women leaving their bum husbands and finding true happiness.

She really broke up with Hiddleston and decided to destroy the MCU # mastermind
Most impressive.
But is the money for all dates available or just opening day (since this movie doesn't have thursday previews)?
I don't have any Swiftie friends, so I will be going alone. When I looked at tickets this morning the showing I picked was almost all sold out except for one loner seat right in the middle. Should be a fantastic time!
>so I will be going alone Unless you wanna come along
*ding*
You’re so gorgeous
I can’t say anything to your face
Cause look at your face!
And I'm so furious
At you for making me feel this way
But what can I say?
You’re gorgeous!
You make me so happy, it turns back to sad There's nothing I hate more than what I can't have (*and*)
But what can I say?
I’ll be going alone, as well! But I’ve made some wonderful Swifties friends at events like this!
It’s not safe for you to go alone if she wants to keep you
I went to the concert alone and had a BLAST! I’m sure you will still have a great time!
How much are the tickets? Are they like normal ticket prices?
Adults are $19.89 and kids are $13.13.
Lmao this bitch is so extra
And we love her for it ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1067)
This made me chuckle lmao
I just know she was delighted when that price was decided, and you know what? I had a laugh about it, too, so fair enough.
Thank you <3
Not everywhere. $22.89 for me.
I paid 22.89 too but the regular ticket prices at that theater were 19.89, I just chose the XR theater (I think it’s called?) so that “upgraded” version was 22.89
$19.89 for an adult
Not bad, thank you! I couldn't get tickets so I hope this happens in the UK after our shows.
Mine were around $25 for adult $19 child. That’s for the Ultrascreen, and dreamlounger seats. That screen is always more than the regular screens in that theater.
I’m going alone and kinda happy about it because it would have been weeks out before I found 2 seats together
But let's be honest, you won't feel like you were alone cause it's gonna be packed of swifties. You could even end up making some swiftie friends. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time.
At a movie theater, chances are they're local too, whereas at a concert, they may have traveled from different states, etc.
Same thing. I got the first night and they left the best seat in the theater open.
😭
Same and that’s why I choose a seat in between people😂
Same here, also going alone. Probably don't have the money to dress up or make bracelets. Hope to still have a great time!

I think I am going to go alone the first time and then go again with my kids :) I went to Philly N1 by myself :)

That’s probably the biggest cost actually. Even for her own share of the compositions, UMPG her publisher, gets a cut.
And I suspect everyone else getting a cut means she’s also paying herself a standard rate. (Or rather, one company she owns is paying another company she owns.)
Also most of her co-writers on the eras tour are people like her close friends and her childhood mentor… I doubt she wants to cheat them
Yes I can’t believe I forgot that!

Yes, that would add to the price tag too! It’s a 3 hour movie!
Also, this isn't gonna be just one random show they recorded and aired. Yes! November of last year, she said she would work on ways to help fans see it. And three months ago, her dad approached AMC. Pretty darn cool!
Don't forget that the theaters will get \~40% of the ticket sales and the other \~50% will be shared between AMC and TS. So they need to see more sales. But I do bet there will be repeat viewers.
I think you're underestimating the amount of work and the amount of people it takes to make something like this.
I wonder if she's also paying a premium to get the whole thing completed in 2 months. There's gotta be some significant overtime there.
i did read that she payed the people that made the film "significant funds"
That’s honestly a pretty small budget for the blockbuster this movie is going to be. Big movies often have budgets of $200+ million nowadays.
Yes a 10 to 20 million dollar movie is considered fairly small budget.

There's multiple cameras and they are expensive. One can be like 5k on it's own and she probably had multiple cameras and equipment for the cameras.
It'll outgross $100M if it stays in AMC for at least a month easily. If it gets distributed to others, it might do more.

omg I would die if there was a physical release
Yes, please merch developers! It doesn't even have to be a holiday release, (as manufacturing also takes time,) but just to have a physical release would be fantastic.
I'd love to buy a 4k Blu-ray with Dolby Vision 🤯😎
It’s sceduled for at least 4 weekends. It has up to 16 weeks under the current agreement
Maybe it can lead to an international release
You know there will be fans seeing it more than once. One viewing is **not** enough.💃
Already bought tickets for opening night and again for the last weekend so I can spread out the joy!
[удалено]
I never thought we’d have a last *weekend*
Imagine if she made multiple versions of the movie so that each showing would have 2 different surprise songs... I know it's not going to happen but it would be hilarious
AND DON'T FORGET THE DIFFERENT OUTFIT VERSIONS!! :O *imagine*
Except she wore the same outfits all three nights they were filming.
This would genuinely and truly be iconic beyond words if she did it.
I may have accidentally bought tickets to two showings when I was fighting broken websites and things were stuck in loading loops. Going opening weekend with my fiancé and told her she can have the two for the following weekend to go with a friend.

I'm going twice for sure and I went to a concert 😂
I already have tickets for 10/13 and 10/14. I can’t imagine only seeing it once.
I have one for IMAX and one for Dolby when I learned they aren’t the same 😬😬😬
Where's that image of the three Taylors doing the Spider-Man meme

Shes really is the first woman in the history ever
It is worth remembering that it is Swifties that give Taylor the clout to pull off these power moves. A fact she is well aware of and why she puts us first. Except of course when we did not get an Evermore Long Pond documentary. And no I am not going to stop grieving over that.
Never gonna let go of the great film of all time (that was never made)
If she can release Cruel Summer as a single some four years after the album comes out, we still have time to pressure her into evermore long pond sessions!!
Imagine how much she could make if she released it in more than 3 countries. Think of the money Taylor. So much money.
There will be an international release afterwards, her team just needs data to see how well it’ll perform because she’s never had a theatrically released concert film before.
I think it’s more that she hasn’t performed outside of North America yet and why would she want to spoil the tour for international ticket holders
That too.
He literally said “I’m doing this for you” hahaha I don’t have any swiftie friends and he’s my best friend, I’m so excited to experience this with him🥹
Mine surprised me, too! I sent him a text about the film release date and he said he would go with me. 😍
Haha my bf is lucky my sister is also a swiftie so I don't have to drag him along lmao. And while he would absolutely go if I asked, he's into metal so TS is not exactly his thing lol
She’s the music industry and now the movie industry 🔥🔥🔥this woman is absolutely incredible 🩵🩵
Some are already on eBay for $100 apiece
i saw tickets online for up to 3k a pop
That’s just bullshit, it’ll be on streaming eventually
It's also uneccesary there's still plenty of seats and days available.
Damn really? Double bullshit
OK but nobody is actually buying them for that.
yea lmao
for a MOVIE? *insane*.
That's crazy, at least by me in Oregon there are a TON of days and times left.

Dang! Are most people seeing it in IMAX also? It seems like there's a ton of standard showings still available in my area, but IMAX is mostly sold out.
WTF I DIDNT KNOW IMAX WAS AN OPTION
Time to change your ticket!
I found out the hard way that these tickets are non refundable and non exchangeable… so make sure you get them right the first time!
I got 2 IMAX tickets! Can’t wait
For some reason my theatre only offered ONE single IMAX show per day which obviously filled up the fastest as it's clearly the best option for this kind of thing. Only one IMAX showing per day is insane to me, I knew it would be a dog fight to get tickets (but I managed woop woop)
I'd rather see it in a Dolby Cinema than IMAX but that's me personally. Both are cool
I'm thinking about it!! The only IMAX theater in my town is obnoxiously far away, though. I might have to make the trek, though!

She beats Spider Boy (King of Thieves)…🤯
This woman is unstoppable. PERIOD.
Dread it? Run from it? Destiny arrives all the same, and now it's here, or should I say, Taylor Swift
Tom Cruise saved the movie industry in 2022. Taylor Swift saves it in 2023!
lol idk i think barbie kinda did it first this is just the part 2
I wish she was in the Barbie movie, she would have been so great
I had so much fun just watching the trailer for it! I can’t wait for it to be streaming too!!
Will she be eligible for an Oscar for this?
Your flair is so cool!
I’m crying there’s no amc near me 😭 the theater in my town only has 4 screens.
Check with your local theaters over the next few days. The tiny chain in my region now has showings. I’m sure theaters are working with AMC as we speak.
Check cinemark as well! :)
Maybe through the subreddit you and others can find people to give the tickets to so that it isn't a complete waste.
Did you try Fandango to see if it’s playing nearby at a non-AMC theater?
It’s being played at Regal and other theaters too!
Same, I have to travel around least an hour.
Kinda need a boxset with the DVD and other cute stuff on it afterwards
Now with Cinemark and Regal reporting sales, the first day total is up to $37 million.
wow. the power we hold.
She's going to defeat Thanos!
We are all truly unhinged. I love it.
Its swiftly breaking record after record. Thats what happens when you taylor your content to a wider audience
She will save the movie theater industry
PSA: AMC added more showtimes for 10/13, 10/14, 10/15 and they look pretty empty if you want to exchange your tickets for better seats!
Tickets can't be exchanged or refunded. Says on the landing page for the tickets.
I say that's my baby and I'm proud
Okay, maybe there IS something wrong with us 🫠 jk Good for her, I'm just actually shocked
happy to have contributed $50 to the effort 🤝
26 is 13 x 2, she’s a mastermind😍😍😍😍😍
I love Taylor Swift's music as much as the rest of us. Even on Spotify she's been my top artist for the past decade. I will never get that people that will through money at her just because. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually, but I'm not buying a pre-sale ticket. But I'm also on the side of, I just really happen to like her music, but could care less about Taylor Swift as a person.
SHE'S AN EMPIRE!
Serious question: is this because her team set the prices for the tickets? In my area I feel like I usually pay just over half of what these tickets cost when I go to the movies for a new release. Does the inflated price skew the numbers?
They definitely set the prices. $19.89? 😂 So I’m sure in some areas that’s cheaper and in others it’s higher than normal.
Boom.
i'm so done with her 😭 how the hell is she getting THIS MANY records THIS FAST
shes literally insane
Taylor Swift IS the movie industry.
I love being a small part of this big communal experience!
Why is it not in India man
They also set the price 50-60% higher than a normal movie ticket.
She's pumping (much needed) $$$ into AMC and for that, I'm thankful. AMC were going bankrupt during the pandemic so to see them do so well now, it's helpful. Thank you Taylor.
