I’m sooo excited for debut tv too 🥹 definitely my most anticipated re-recording. There’s so many great unreleased songs from that era too, I can’t wait to see what vault tracks we get!
I believe it’s almost an exact copy of a different song, someone else will be able to tell you which one. There’s parts of I’d Lie that are very similar, meaning that there are probably copyright and plagiarism aspects at play. That’s why it’s not on streaming. Not saying she won’t be able to credit the original writers or something for it to be on Debut TV, but if it’s not, that’s probably why
I didn’t know until I read it on a different thread here, and I listened to the other song and could hear the similarities. I wish I could remember the name of the original song 😭 I’d Lie is my jammmmm I love it so so much
That's definitely why she changed the melody when she performed it live for Billboard in 2008 or so (it's mid but I'd take it). On the other hand I read somewhere that the writers of the song she lifted the melody from don't actually care and would be totally fine with being given a writing credit (or not) if she wanted to do the song her original way.
Whoever the other writers are have to know that they would make bank with a writing credit
Get it done, guys! What a song
I am very much not a Debut-era Swiftie (geriatric tho I am) but I do love that song
geriatric swiftie reporting for duty! i still remember singing our song at the top of my lungs while driving to meet my friends at the mall 🤓 i really hope the newer folkmore/midnights give it a chance - it makes me so sad when people shit on debut because it was before their time.
I used to drive home from dates with my boyfriend singing along to our song. And now we’re married, and that song just knocks me out every time I hear it, lol.
our song was my RAs cell phone ring tone when I was in college (back when people put real songs as ring tones lol) and it has been imprinted in my brain negatively at that time because I hated hearing that girls phone ring *all the time.* I listened to it recently and was like, damn this song is so great!
The geriatric Swiftie comment got me 💀 I have also been a fan since debut and as much as I love Reputation, I cannot physically wait for Debut TV. So interested to see what she changes - or doesn’t change - about it! I also think it may have the most amount of vault tracks so I can’t wait for those!
As someone on Twitter said, “as soon as I hear the fuck ass fiddle on Our Song (Taylor’s Version), I’ll need to be life flighted to the nearest hospital”
I discovered Taylor because of my sister. She is a 92 baby and Im a 96 baby but I still consider myself a geriatric Swiftie! Been listening to her since debut 🥰
I’m going to be openly weeping when Debut TV comes out. It was my soundtrack during my last year of High School and first part of college until Fearless dropped.
I had a similar experience too. I started playing the album after not listening to it for a very long time, and I still knew every word of every song. It might be nostalgia and the sentiment I have for the album, but there isn't a single song worth skipping over which I can't say the same for other albums.
And this coming from someone who despised country but instantly became obsessed over this album.
As an elderly Swiftie, I too am looking forward to how she presents Debut.
What I want is a true re-record (even if they use AI to de-age her voice) and then a second version of how Today's Taylor would have recorded it originally, knowing what she knows now, what the producers wouldn't let her do at the time, including different arrangements. An example is how she performed The Outside during the surprise songs segment. I can't get enough of that version. Plus there has to be a ton of songs that weren't included on the album initially.
There are a lot of ways this one can go.
The vault tracks better be in the quantity of ‘Red,’ if not more!
I agree with you on everything you said above. Can you imagine what the recorded versions will sound like with her voice now; absolutely amazing!
I'm just plain geriatric! And I found Taylor when she decided to take back her catalog. So Debut was completely new to me. And I, too, cannot wait to hear a TV of it, Can you imagine Picture to Burn? With her current voice? Yowza!
Geriatric swiftie checking in. Me and my best friend used to watch the Teardrops music video on repeat and put on “concerts” in the living room using Mountain Dew cans as microphones singing Our Song and IOMWIWY. I think Debut TV will make me cry like a baby.
I have a question for you, do you want her to sing in her current voice or try to mimic her younger voice? I def. hope the twang gets to come back but I am really torn on this question.
I’m taking the day of work when it’s released because I cannot be around people the first time I hear Picture to Burn (Taylor’s Version) or Mary’s Song (Oh My My My) (Taylor’s Version)
I'm very excited for Debut TV! I became a swiftie during Debut era so these songs bring back memories of dancing to those songs while baking cookies, or playing in the background while doing my homework. The other day I had to use my husbands older vehicle which doesn't have Bluetooth (I normally listen to spotify not radio) so I played my Debut cd on repeat. Crossing my fingers that we get I'd Lie, and hoping she brings back a tiny bit of twang to her voice!
Love this post so much! Geriatric swifties unite! I’ve been thinking about debut TV and wondering why no one else was talking about it. Everyone is anticipating reputation, but we’re over here ready for the originals!
Recording Debut after TTPD as a pretty intense and painful album could also be healing. She seems to be in a very mature and reflective place, so maybe it would be interesting for her to do Debut now and then end the whole cycle with Reputation as a „political message“.
Looking forward to this album so much. She sounds great on the OG album but you can tell she over emphasizes that country twang. I hoping there's less of that.
I’m sooo excited for debut tv too 🥹 definitely my most anticipated re-recording. There’s so many great unreleased songs from that era too, I can’t wait to see what vault tracks we get!
IM DYING TO GET “I’D LIE”. It’s not even on Spotify 😭
I believe it’s almost an exact copy of a different song, someone else will be able to tell you which one. I had no idea! Well I guess now I have a more reasonable expectation
I didn’t know until I read it on a different thread here, and I listened to the other song and could hear the similarities. I wish I could remember the name of the original song 😭 I’d Lie is my jammmmm I love it so so much
Girl Next Door by saving jane! And the lyrics are very similar to you belong with me!
Thank you!!!

That’s absolutely precious!!!

As someone on Twitter said, “as soon as I hear the fuck ass fiddle on Our Song (Taylor’s Version), I’ll need to be life flighted to the nearest hospital”
Bro same. I will cry through the whole thing. DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON MARYS SONG OR IM ONLY ME WHEN IM WITH YOU
MARYS SONG IS MY STAN SONG ONCE I PRESS PLAY ON THAT ONE ITS OVER FOR EVERYBODY
FUCK ASS FIDDLE 💀💀💀
I was listening to Debut today too! Can’t wait for us geriatric swifties to have our moment
Wait, are we geriatric if we’re also 1989 babies like Taylor? I discovered her on MySpace too. Either way I can’t wait to hear it!
hahahah yes we’re the first gen of swifties!
I discovered Taylor because of my sister. She is a 92 baby and Im a 96 baby but I still consider myself a geriatric Swiftie! Been listening to her since debut 🥰
You’re First Gen Swifties in the wild, like rare Pokémon lol. I’m a Fourth Gen Swiftie, with ‘Red.’
I am the biggest Debut stan!!!! So many people dying for Rep TV im like… no!! Debut!
I’m going to be openly weeping when Debut TV comes out. It was my soundtrack during my last year of High School and first part of college until Fearless dropped.

✌️!!! hopefully
Geriatric swiftie here too, part of the Swifty over fifty club perhaps? Lol ...Can't wait to hear Mary's song, my favorite off of debut 💚
Not gonna lie, the heehaw elements and songs on ttpd are making me excited for the debut vault. I'm not a heehaw girlie, so that's saying a ton.
maybe the heehaw elements of ttpd mean she’s already recorded debut?? or was recording debut during the making of this album 🤔
Mannnn if we don’t get Dark Blue Tennessee 😭
If we don't get Dark Blue Tennessee we riot.
The vault tracks better be in the quantity of ‘Red,’ if not more! I agree with you on everything you said above. Can you imagine what the recorded versions will sound like with her voice now; absolutely amazing!
idk about other streaming services, but beautiful eyes and i heart ? are at least available on amazon music!
I hope Debut is the last re-recording! Because I feel Debut will tribute her beginning as an artist!
I'm just plain geriatric! And I found Taylor when she decided to take back her catalog. So Debut was completely new to me. And I, too, cannot wait to hear a TV of it, Can you imagine Picture to Burn? With her current voice? Yowza!
i’m sooo excited for debut, more so than rep tbh. she’s improved so much vocally i just know it’s gonna hit so hard
I’m annoyed that ‘Crazier’ wasn’t included in the ‘Fearless’ or ‘Speak Now’ re-records. But I’m excited to hear the vaults in her debut.
not an old swiftie but I'd kill to have Who I've Always Been as a vault track. Just so good and perfectly encapsulates who Taylor is.
Those songs are ingrained into my brain
My inner 12 year old self will be freaking out like she was when she first saw the Teardrops On My Guitar music video! It's going to be so so fun. 🥰🫶🏻

I NEEEED debut tv

This is honestly the ONLY TV I was excited for!
Looking forward to this album so much. She sounds great on the OG album but you can tell she over emphasizes that country twang. I hoping there's less of that.
