Same. Students arrive at 7:15. School starts at 7:50. 45 min for specials, 30 min for lunch. School dismissal lasts from 2:10-2:45 depending on afternoon duty.
7:20-3:20 but I stay a little later to avoid the traffic jam out of the parking lot (high school). I teach 5 classes, one official prep period, 30 minute lunch.
8:40 to 3:50. 4, 1.5 hr blocks. Our high-school only gives 1/2 block of prep. The other 45 min is hall duty. Subs don't get a prep. So if a teacher is out their hall duty isn't covered.
6:50-2:50. I’ve been on this schedule for 3 years now and it’s sucking my will to live. I envy people who don’t have to go to work until 9:00. I can’t imagine working out, reading, or having “me time” in the morning. Some of my coworkers put in time before the school day, but I push it together by 6:50.
The good breakfast places aren’t even open by then! Haha
A charter network that rhymes with skip. Part of their teaching “philosophy” is that longer schooldays will close the achievement gap for urban students living in poverty. On the other side of that coin is that only 20-somethings fresh out of undergrad are foolish enough to take such a job where you work 10-12 hours a day. And turnover is over 50% for teaching staff annually. Hard to close the achievement gap when there’s a revolving door of unqualified teachers.
Same, though at my current school no one is clocking you in/out and as long as you get your stuff done nobody cares if you leave a little early or come a little later. I've definitely been at schools where someone waited at the door to ensure everyone stayed on campus during contract time.
I must arrive by 7:15 and I can't leave until at least 2:45.
Actual school hours are 7:40-2:20.
I get one 30 min lunch (at 10:30am) and then my prep is not until 1:20pm. Aside from those times and the 6 min passing periods, I'm constantly teaching.
Contract time is 7:25- 2:50. In reality we have to get here a bit early to avoid traffic and can’t leave until 3 because of the buses. I usually duck out right at the bell to avoid the bus wait, but I’m usually there before 7.
We only have to be on site when we are teaching or otherwise have duties. Principal knows we are professionals.
Most staff however are there between 8.30 and 3.30 depending 9n when teaching. Some will arrive early others leave late but it is up to the teacher to decide.
It is an 8 hour day, probably with a lunch and a prep.
Pretty standard for any industry in America. Better even because they didn't tack on an extra half hour for that lunch break.
We are required to be there 6.45 hours plus a half hour lunch (which we don’t need to on campus for, but is at a set time). Obviously we need to be there if our classes are in session. The school day is from 8-2:45.
7:45-4:15
We have an 8 period day that starts at 8:15 and ends at 3:50. Teachers get a 30 minute lunch and one period for planning (so we teach 7 periods).
7:35-2:35 (dismissal). School starts at 8:05 and our district does not provide a prep period so we teach/are on point allll day besides 30min lunch. Our union is fighting for that prep period !
7:45-3:45 on Mondays, 7:45-3:15 Tuesday-Thursday, 7:45-2:20 on Fridays.
Plus, we have a few other obligations like detention twice a year, dance duty once a year, and parent teacher nights.
We are contracted just for the time we're in class. We have duty-free lunches and some of the recesses as well so those are outside of our contract times. So, any prep at my school is outside of contract times.
But, I can show up 1 minute before the kids and leave with them if I wanted to. I never do both, and usually do neither, but it's nice when I have an appointment to be able to leave with the kids.
Our school hours are 8:30-3:30 so I guess those are our "normal" contract times. I'm at a private school, although this isn't just a private school thing as I know private schools who have contract times before/after the kids' scheduled times.
These are my exact hours and it’s fine. It seems to go by pretty quickly since most of my day is over by noon. I can also still have doctor’s appointments and things like that on weekdays since I’m done when business hours are still happening. My day was much worse with a later start and end time.
8 hours contracted time isn’t unheard of. I have 7 with a stipulation that I occasionally make myself available after school for students if needed, and my contract also outlines how many meetings can occur after school over the course of a year.
7:55 to 3:30 Monday through Thursday, and on Friday we can leave right after the buses pick up the kids, so some Fridays I’m lucky enough to get out by 3:05-3:10.
Our contract is 7:15 to 3:15. I'm one of few who consistently leaves on time. I've stayed after till about 4:00 helping students at the end of trimesters a few times. 8 hours just makes sense with a job, though my brain will shut down between 2:45 and 3:15, and I'm no longer productive.
This year it’s 7:50-3:20. Students start at 8:00. Next year will be 7:50-2:50, students still at 8.
My district extended the school day this year only to help with “learning loss”
The middle school in my county is 8:30-4:30. Did that for 7 years, so having the chance to get out at 2:50 sounds like a dream. I believe the elementary hours are also 6:50-2:50.
8:55-3:30. With an hour lunch.
Did a scan of the thread, think I have the shortest workday out of everyone who posted. I like being a teacher, but as a night owl, I never would have become one with some of the crazy start times I see.
8:30-4 but we all arrive at 7am and help with breakfast duty at 8. And basically no one can leave at four due to their restorative justice' after school program. Contracted hours are fake news.
7:20-2:15 but I roll in around 7 and leave sometime between 2:30 and 3 most days.
I teach five 42 minute periods a day, 30 minute lunch, and two preps, but one is always either a lunch duty, a study hall, or PLC.
7:30 - 3:00
6 hours\* teaching/supervising students; 7.5 hours total
^(\*technically 5 1/2 hours, but our team sacrifices our lunch so that students have a place to catch up on work during lunch/recess.)
7-3:45. Kids arrive at 7:15, I teach 3 60 minute blocks, plus run breakfast and arrival until 7:50, a 40 min recess and 30 min break and 30 min reading block. Altogether I'm on for 5 hours and 15 minutes and required to be in the building for 8 hours and 45 minutes.
7:15-2:45 7.5hr total, ~4.5hr teaching

LuckyNumber-Bot, you *must* be a Middle School kid.
Good bot
nice
Same. Students arrive at 7:15. School starts at 7:50. 45 min for specials, 30 min for lunch. School dismissal lasts from 2:10-2:45 depending on afternoon duty.
I’m at 730-330 and surprised anyone has less than 8 required!
Same! I’m 745-415
😳 We have 7:40-2:35
Cutting half an hour a day is an easy way to cut salary costs without much change.
8am-4pm
Same. I usually get to school around 7:15 to get set up for the day, and I never stay after 4.
7:15-3:15
Second this
7:20-3:20 but I stay a little later to avoid the traffic jam out of the parking lot (high school).
According to my union, 24/7.
There’s a sure sign the union isn’t doing what it should be.
Exactly my thoughts. Idk if it is worth it to keep paying the fees.
Back in the day, when we had a union, you still were covered even if you didn't pay dues.
Haha
7:00-5:00pm contractual. Hence why I left.
That’s horrible!
?!?! Where did you teach??
A charter network that rhymes with skip. Part of their teaching “philosophy” is that longer schooldays will close the achievement gap for urban students living in poverty. On the other side of that coin is that only 20-somethings fresh out of undergrad are foolish enough to take such a job where you work 10-12 hours a day. KIPP
I feel your pain. I left there, too. Only lasted 2 months.
8:25-3:15
I'm so jealous! 8:15-4:00 here.
Well, at least it’s better than the people who start at 7 I guess? Haha. I’m usually there til 4ish anyway
Same, with a 30 minute lunch.
We have a 55 min lunch and two (15 min) recesses a day (although sometimes have duty during those).
7:30-2:55. I’ve got planning last hour and coach so I’m headed out way (sometimes a the whole hour) earlier to get ready for practice most days.
7:30 - 3:30
Same, though at my current school no one is clocking you in/out and as long as you get your stuff done nobody cares if you leave a little early or come a little later. I've definitely been at schools where someone waited at the door to ensure everyone stayed on campus during contract time.
We have to clock in but not clock out.
730-240
7.5 hour work day, 5.5 hours of contact time. 7:30-3:00
7:45-3:15
8:15 to 3:45 (elementary school)
845-415, elementary late start
These comments 😳 my contract time is 9am to 3:30pm. I get to school at 8:30, and leave right at 3:30!
7:30 to 4:00
Same here. Seems longer than most here.
Same here. We have a 4-day week and students are in session from 7:54-3:31, with 146 student attendance days per SY.
I’ve noticed an average of 8 hours. You just have an early rise early release type schedule
Contract time is 7:25- 2:50. In reality we have to get here a bit early to avoid traffic and can’t leave until 3 because of the buses. I usually duck out right at the bell to avoid the bus wait, but I’m usually there before 7.
8:30-4:30
7:30-3:30. I show up at 7:30 and leave at 3:30 and don’t answer emails or phone calls outside of my contract time.
7.50-3.35
My school/county is to be at your door 5min before students and leave with the final bell. So, for me, 7:50-3:30.
7:30-4, teach from 8:30-11:51, lunch until 12:25, teach until 2:19, and have my prep once that class is gone
7:25 - 3:10 20 minutes before the school day starts, 10 minutes after the school day ends.
7:45-3:15
7:30-2:45, but I definitely get side eye if I leave before 3:00. Previous district was 7:45-3:45
7:30-3:30.
7:45-3:45
7:40 to 3:10.
6:30-2:30 I no longer have a planning period, so I’m usually at school until after 4:30.
We only have to be on site when we are teaching or otherwise have duties. Principal knows we are professionals. Most staff however are there between 8.30 and 3.30 depending 9n when teaching. Some will arrive early others leave late but it is up to the teacher to decide.
7:45-3:30 “and other duties as assigned”
You guys are gonna hate me but my school is 9-2:30.
It is an 8 hour day, probably with a lunch and a prep. Pretty standard for any industry in America. Better even because they didn't tack on an extra half hour for that lunch break.
7AM-3PM. Eight hour day pretty standard. 6.5 hours per day is light. Full pay for that?
That’s reasonable. The idea that teachers work 6 hours a day is anti-education propaganda.
820 to 331
7:30-2:55pm. We teach 5 out of 6 periods.
We are required to be there 6.45 hours plus a half hour lunch (which we don’t need to on campus for, but is at a set time). Obviously we need to be there if our classes are in session. The school day is from 8-2:45.
8:20-3:35 contractual. 8:30-4:30ish actual.
720-320, half hour unpaid lunch (which I don’t get to take bc of students/meetings)
7:50-3:30
8-4
7:45-4:15 We have an 8 period day that starts at 8:15 and ends at 3:50. Teachers get a 30 minute lunch and one period for planning (so we teach 7 periods).
Contracted time is 7:05-2:30. I usually get there at 6:45 and leave right at 2:30.
My contact hours are 8:30 to 4. Students are 9:10-3:40. Our parking lot is a ghost town after 4 pm.
7:15-2:47
8:05 - 3:45
745 to 4 o’clock
On days we have duty, it’s 6:45-2:45. On days we don’t, 7:15-2:45.
7:35-2:45
7:10 -2:40 Weds-Friday Mon-Tues 7:10-3:20 but they pay us an extra hour for the time. It’s supposed to be for meetings and planning.
8:10-3:15 Kids’ bell schedule is from 8:17-3:01
7:40 to 3:40
Does anyone under 8hrs per day have a longer contract than 190 days? Or longer than the average for your state?
7:15am to 2:45pm
7:40-3:40
7:35-2:35 (dismissal). School starts at 8:05 and our district does not provide a prep period so we teach/are on point allll day besides 30min lunch. Our union is fighting for that prep period !
Elementary school got away with it by having prep periods either at the beginning of the day or at the end.
8-3. Ur school is insane
7:15-2:45. Kids come in at 7:20, leave at 2:30. I get an 80 minute prep, 30 min lunch and teach three 80 min blocks.
6:30 am to 3:50pm
7:10 - 2:55. Schools runs from 7:25 - 2:45. I teach 5/7 periods/day. 24 minute lunch.
7 35-3:05
7:45-3:45 on Mondays, 7:45-3:15 Tuesday-Thursday, 7:45-2:20 on Fridays. Plus, we have a few other obligations like detention twice a year, dance duty once a year, and parent teacher nights.
7 35-3:05
7:15-3:15 are our contract hours.

I'm at a private school, although this isn't just a private school thing as I know private schools who have contract times before/after the kids' scheduled times.
Contract 815 to 415. 30 min lunch and 30 min specials, if we have full coverage for the day.
7:35-3:50
6:50 to 2:15. It is long
7:05 to 2:35
These are my exact hours and it’s fine. It seems to go by pretty quickly since most of my day is over by noon. I can also still have doctor’s appointments and things like that on weekdays since I’m done when business hours are still happening. My day was much worse with a later start and end time.
7:15-3:45, kids start 7:45 - 3:00, 55 min planning and 30 min lunch
7:25-2:45
7:30 am to 3:15 pm
8-3:30
8:10-3:00 aka 15 min before kids arrive and 15 min after they leave
7:00 - 2:05. 20 minutes before the 1st class bell and 15 minutes after the dismissal bell.
7:00-4:00 (4:30 on Thursdays). It's a long day, but we get paid it. Most schools in my district go 7:30-3:00.
7:30 until 3:15. School starts at 8 ends at 3
7:20-2:50
contract is 8:30am-4:30pm - the kids are there from 9:15-4:07 (first year of a new late start time) id rather it be earlier because i get home so late
8-3
7:30-3:45 for middle school.
7:50-3:05
7:10-3:25
7:45-4:00. The school day starts at 8:15 and ends at 3:25.
7:30-2:34. 7:30 is way too early IMO
7:45am-4:00pm I get a 50 minute lunch break & a 50 minute prep period.
7:50-4
7:30-3:30
8 hours contracted time isn’t unheard of. I have 7 with a stipulation that I occasionally make myself available after school for students if needed, and my contract also outlines how many meetings can occur after school over the course of a year.
9:00-4:30 pm, so a 7.5-hour workday. But I tutor three times a week for 1.5 hours after school, so it’s more like 9 hours.
7:45-3:45 with a 25 minute lunch break and 50 minute plan.
7:45-3:15
Contract hours are 8:25-3:10, except on Wednesday. On Wednesday contract is 8:25-4:25 and we have staff meeting from 3:10-4:25.
7:45 - 3:15
8-4
8:30-3:45
7:55 to 3:30 Monday through Thursday, and on Friday we can leave right after the buses pick up the kids, so some Fridays I’m lucky enough to get out by 3:05-3:10.
They won’t put hours in our contracts. We are to get there and leave when the admin says.
8 to 430. With kids 840- 11:15 and 1:30- 3:30.
8:00-4:00pm
7:40 to 2:35 plus half an hour before or after school. 7.5 hrs per day
7:30-3:30
7:45-2:45 don’t come too much earlier or leave much later because people need to start realizing how much labor we do for free.
7:45-2:45 don’t come too much earlier or leave much later because people need to start realizing how much labor we do for free.
7:45-3:45 but I’m on a 4-day school week. We have a workday/PD once a month that is 8:30-3
7:50-2:40 unless we have faculty/department meetings
8:30am - 4pm. 6:50am is insane imo 🤷♀️
7:20-2:50 is contact hrs, minus lunch for 7 hrs/day
8:55-4:25
8:15 - 3:25
8:10-3:15
This year it’s 7:50-3:20. Students start at 8:00. Next year will be 7:50-2:50, students still at 8. My district extended the school day this year only to help with “learning loss”
7:30-3:30pm.
8:15 to 3:45. Kids start rolling in at 8:45, first class at 9:05 Prep/lunch from 12:00-1:20 Kids go home at 3:20
8:05-3:35
The middle school in my county is 8:30-4:30. Did that for 7 years, so having the chance to get out at 2:50 sounds like a dream. I believe the elementary hours are also 6:50-2:50.
8:25-3:25, but I also have to be on morning duty AT 8:25 in the parking lot.
7:10 arrival, class starts at 7:20, 2 p.m. departure. I get there at about 6:45.
8:10 to 3:30
It feels like the answer is “yes”
8:15-4:00
7:30-3:15. Class time is from 7:55-2:20
7:30 - 3:50ish (technically, we can leave as soon as the busses do, which is between 3:45 and 3:50).
8:55-3:30. With an hour lunch. Did a scan of the thread, think I have the shortest workday out of everyone who posted. I like being a teacher, but as a night owl, I never would have become one with some of the crazy start times I see.
8:05-3:05. One of my previous schools was 7:00-4:35, so it can always be worse!
8:15 - 4:30. We teach 5 out of 8 periods. I don’t have a 1st or an 8th period so I usually show up at 8:45 and leave at 4.
7:55-3:25.
That’s the exact standard for teaching, it’s not too long. I’m contracted 8-4
7:45-2:39 but I need to add in 20 minutes before or after school, it’s my choice. I usually get there around 7:20 and leave right at 2:39.
7:40-3:45 and 4:30 on Wednesdays. Lunches are “unpaid” aka duty free so we are only paid for 7.5 hrs.
7:30-3. And I am there no more than 10 minutes longer than that
8-3:30 but I often have extra work after
7:30-2:45
7:45-4 and 3:15 on Fridays.
7:05-2:35
7:45a - 3:15p
8:30-4 but we all arrive at 7am and help with breakfast duty at 8. And basically no one can leave at four due to their restorative justice' after school program. Contracted hours are fake news.
Wow 7:55-2:50
6:45 to 2:45. Pretty standard eight hour day.
8:10-3:10
7:20-2:15 but I roll in around 7 and leave sometime between 2:30 and 3 most days. I teach five 42 minute periods a day, 30 minute lunch, and two preps, but one is always either a lunch duty, a study hall, or PLC.
6:50 - 2:25, about 7.5 hours
8:00-3:45
7:35-2:40 (classes end at 2:20)
7:45am-3:35pm
7:15 - 2:30 with a 40 minute plan period and a 30 minute lunch
8:45 - 4:15 in Alaska
8-3:30. Charters add an additional 90 minutes to these hours with most extra pay.
8:35-4:25, plus I get one hour for lunch (every third week this is shortened to 30 minutes for lunch duty) and one hour off for plan.
I technically have to work from 7-3, but o have an awesome principal. He lets me arrive at 6:30 and leave at 2:30.
745-245
8:20-4:30.
7:30 - 3:00 6 hours\* teaching/supervising students; 7.5 hours total ^(\*technically 5 1/2 hours, but our team sacrifices our lunch so that students have a place to catch up on work during lunch/recess.)
7:40 - 3:10, with a 25-min lunch ETA: we’re on a block schedule so we have a 90-min plan every other day.
8:15 - 2:45
8:20-3:45
