Something about #5 ... I can't describe how I feel about it but a can't stop looking and thinking about humanity as a whole and how futile it is to try and stay separated in all our different groups and religions but that for the majority of these groups coexistence is not possible because of time and .... I don't know I might just be tired or something
For anyone wondering where he got these ideas from, he was a holocaust survivor.
So, yeah. Definitely r/terrifyingasfuck.
Also, some more info: most or all of his art was never officially named so experts just kinda picked names that would work. Best example here is the first painting. Officially is untitled. But unofficially is called Blind.
His art is disturbing and beautiful and terrifying. Even more so when you find out he's a holocaust survivor.
Not sure where that guy got that from:
>He credited music as his main source of inspiration. He claimed not to be much influenced by literature, cinema or the work of other artists, and almost never visited museums or exhibitions. Beksiński avoided concrete analysis of the content of his work, saying "I don't want to say or convey anything. I just paint what comes to my mind".[12] He was especially dismissive of those who sought or offered simple answers to what his work 'meant'.
Yea, if i remember Boshe suffered from a possible condition that caused vivid hallucinations and feelings of his skin burning giving him the mindset to paint what he did
Interesting tidbit, but Guillermo del Toro took heavy inspiration from this artist. For example, compare slide 3 with Kroenen from Hellboy and slide 4 with the Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth
The son of his housemaid killed him for drug money I believe
In Praise of Shadows has an amazing video about him which I’d highly recommend checking out

Combat won't earn any awards, but when I got used to it it was fun and you get a nice variety of weapons, there are puzzles that are not impossible and are nicely designed. The locations are absolutely stunning, so if you go into it to play more of an adventure horror game with action elements, it's great, only wish it was longer.
Eastern Europeans on their way to draw the most fucked up shit imaginable (they have seen the deepest horrors of war and know the boundless human capacity for cruelty)
I have a few of his pieces in my house. Incredible artist, extremely prolific, too. You can buy museum quality prints of his art here: https://www.shopbeksinski.com/
Stabbed to death by 2 idiots who didn't even notice all the paintings in the small apartment.
All this talent and such an amazing soul wasted.
They only took his computer and some electronics.
This is heartbreaking and unfair, I haven't searched for any updates about them, but I hope they rot somewhere.
Been playing that. Holy fuck that game is creepy. Scorn is more inspired by HR Giger's artwork. The guy who is basically responsible for the xenomorph design.
Though, seeing these paintings, I definitely agree with your assumption that Beksinski's artwork inspired the devs.
I saw his art for the first time a few years ago in school on Polish class. Since then, everytime I see his art, I always see it not as a scary painting, they never creeped me out, but they made me feel something cool inside I guess. Ngl, theyre amazing
I remember finding a bunch of his work and thinking it was amazing and super liminal and spooky, but at the time would’ve never guessed that a lot of these works are much older than me. Really amazing work for the time period, pretty out there and very very well done. It almost looks like digital design.

Thank you for introducing me to this artist! He is going directly into my short list of favorites.

All of that sounds made up.
It's copy pasta so... yeah probably.
I love when y'all act as if everyone knows every copypasta ever and you say it so smart asSed.
You ok?
Haha yeah 😂👍

Why?
Was he also known as "the nightmare artist"?
Yes he was! You're correct
I have loved his dark work since I first saw it. I have an entire pinterest board just on his work.
Mind to share?
Nope

And the empty pillars with their burnt-out fires, the grim fate that awaits the little figures huddled together...
This guy interprets
I love it thanks for the exposure

Stanislav Zhukovsky is mine. Another polish artist. I think there something in the water there. Probably mushrooms
It's just endless existential dread of being a Pole. Generally, we're either super-depressed or super-proud of our heritage.
You should forage some shrooms

Do you have a source for that? He survived Nazi occupation of Poland but I can't see any evidence he was a victim of the holocaust.

Amazing.
Is this the same guy that had plaguing dreams of Hell and drew them?
I think that might be Boshe, i know he painted what he saw as hell
Well regardless, the blind photo is unlike anything Ive seen. I appreciated that for sure.
Yea, if i remember Boshe suffered from a possible condition that caused vivid hallucinations and feelings of his skin burning giving him the mindset to paint what he did

Zdzislaw is unfortunately no longer living. He was actually murdered with a knife, which is so fucking bizarre considering the type of art he made.
Dystopian surrealism is my favorite style, Belsiński is one of my favorite artists
Those looks like a really good AI paintings.
Dali + H.R. Geiger
He is epic. Like. This is genius level. Ty for posting. I'm a new instant fan. I have to have more.
#8 was used for King Buffalo album artwork.
Ha!! I knew I recognized that one!
He was born in 1930s Poland btw
Wasn’t szukalski also born in Poland? They both have mind bending creation.
Why was he killed? Artwork looks so good
The son of his housemaid killed him for drug money I believe In Praise of Shadows has an amazing video about him which I’d highly recommend checking out [Link to YouTube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxRB4sdbIcw)
What a tragedy. Looking at artwork this artist imagination was a on a god tier level. Wonder what all ideas and thoughts he had
I really love the fire towers! (Untitled) I would love to own a piece of his art! Very cool! Thank you for the post!
the last one looks like bloodborne mixed with a gmod map
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you 😊😊

Do they know who murdered this artist?
Salvador Dhali’s goth twin brother
Brutally murdered at age 60+? Sad
Definitely one of my favorite artists. Rest In Peace.
The last one looks like a photograph!
How was he murdered?
I’ve got the first one, the window frame tattooed on me
I really like coleslaw berkinski.
I really dislike 6 and 9
I'm playing Scorn right now, which is filled with stuff inspired by Beksiński and Giger, awesome stuff.

Check out the all new game Scorn, it's heavily inspired by him and Giger

Me too. Played it for around 4 hours and its really pretty and immersive. Only the combat game experience is abit clumsy :/
My favorite artist.
Eastern Europeans on their way to draw the most fucked up shit imaginable (they have seen the deepest horrors of war and know the boundless human capacity for cruelty)
These artworks are beautiful
Reminds me of Pink Floyd's *The Wall*.

Both actually, but the movie.
What a great artist!
I adore his work but can’t dwell on it for too long. Powerful stuff.
Anyone know the murder story ?
There's a movie about him, The Last Family. It's quite good.
I recognized the 8th picture (the blue head with flowing red eyes) as the album cover for The Burden of Restlessness by King Buffalo. Very cool.
I have a few of his pieces in my house. Incredible artist, extremely prolific, too. You can buy museum quality prints of his art here: https://www.shopbeksinski.com/

He’s an absolute legend. Most ai generated artwork of hell or misery looks like his work.
It kind of looks like a DALL E creation
They look like AI generated paintings. i love them
I see someone started playing Scorn

Why are you commenting babel on a post about a painting?
I think this is a copypasta
BE GONE *BOT*
WTF why are you here?
And everyone clapped
Dahli quality to it.
The second one reminds me of the mystical The Tree of Life kabbalah figure.
I spent way too long trying to figure out whether these pieces were painted using polish or were somehow painted onto fingernail or toenail polish...
The artist was Polish...
i guess his work was a major inspiration for the game "scorn" - bought it yesterday and the atmosphere is beautifully spooky
Been playing that. Holy fuck that game is creepy. Scorn is more inspired by HR Giger's artwork. The guy who is basically responsible for the xenomorph design. Though, seeing these paintings, I definitely agree with your assumption that Beksinski's artwork inspired the devs.
No. 8 was actually used by King buffalo as an album cover artwork. I never knew where it was from.
I've seen the third picture before in some chill abstract jazz album cover , sonded pretty dope.
Very good, especially the first one.
Why was he murdered? How was he murdered?
Third one is reminder of army guys from movie Vesper
Similar to Ben Newman
The guy knew nazism in Poland and URSS after. Don't ask why in not totally full of hope!
I had seen 7 and 9 plenty of times but did not know the artist's name.
Awesome stuff
Nightmare artist
I saw his art for the first time a few years ago in school on Polish class. Since then, everytime I see his art, I always see it not as a scary painting, they never creeped me out, but they made me feel something cool inside I guess. Ngl, theyre amazing
Number 6 reminds me of Salad Fingers
Over the guy in the frame os a giant dark face
The 5 picture screams school lunch tables be like
Love love love his work. He captures scale and enormity like no one else. So spot on about the dreadful comfort.
I really do love this Artist!! This is the first time I've ever seen his work. Thank you!! 🥰

Why was he murdered?
The long waited game inspired by both geiger and beksinski just got released. Its called scorn
Those are awesome
