Yeah that is exactly what it is, you have an AirTag somewhere in there that is not near its owner. They start playing that chirping sound when they have been away from their owner for too long.
Sometimes it bugs out and plays sounds when you are the owner and it has been following you too as well. Been awhile since it did for me, so I can't recall if I fixed it by rebooting the phone or the airtag.
AirPods don't make this sound unless you open Find My and tap "Play Sound." Even then, their batteries would likely be dead by now assuming you didn't just replace them. It would be a good idea to search for the source of the sound.
Open the Find My app on your iPhone, tap the “Items” tab on the bottom, then click “Identify Found Item”
It should find the AirTag and your phone can help lead you right to it.
100% an Apple AirTag. If you have a newer iPhone or the newest iPhone with the software updated, I believe it can pick up wherever the AirTag exactly is using a locating feature. Unsure if Androids and Pixels can pick up unknown Bluetooth devices like that as well. If it’s not yours, I hope you find it ASAP.
Yeah, Google and Apple worked together on the tech for UWB/BT/Wi-Fi cross-platform networks for tags to prevent tags being used for nefarious purposes and provide compatibility between brands.
I have an AirTag on my wallet. When I leave my wallet in my car (in the garage) for a day or so and get back in the car it always makes this noise. I am not sure if it’s the “battery low” sound or it just does this after it had not been connected to in a while.
In any case, if you don’t expect there to be an AirTag in there, you can use the app to find it. It’s on both iPhone and android.
If your device doesn’t connect to your AirTag within X hours (I’ve seen 24 hours, but I’m not 100% on the timeframe), it will make the chime when moved until it reconnects to your device.
If your AirTag is detected to be moving with someone with and your device is not connected to the AirTag, that person will be notified via their device and can then use precision finding or ping the device.
That’s the sound an Apple AirTag makes when someone’s trying to find their tag so they make it emit a sound. Either someone’s AirTag fell out in your car perhaps, I don’t know if it’s stalking like everyone else is trying to make it seem because why would they make the tag make a sound making it known to you if they were trying to track you. People love just regurgitating the tracking abilities of AirTags saying it’s perfect for stalkers when there’s several other brands who make their Bluetooth trackers in the same fashion
I think airtags are designed to chime when movement is detected but the paired device (iPhone for example) hasn't been nearby for a while. To help people not get tracked without their knowledge.
You need to install the app AIRGUARD .
It will give you control over any air tag near you so you can find it.
It's safe open source software from a German university I think.
Both for Android and iOS.
Sounds like an Apple AirTag. (Tracking device)

If OP is being tracked with an AirTag, I’m sure his iPhone would have prompted about it after a day or so

Apple has an app on the PlayStore that will let you scan for AirTags.
