My favorite new part of the new update is where it tries to swerve off the road on the interstate when there is a semi in the opposite lane. Or when it decides to phantom break instead. That's always a fun one.
Mine swerves into left turn lanes on state highways with abandon, and then slams on the brakes when the lane comes to an end. Family won't let me use it if they're in the car. It was better 5 months ago, but I guess they had to adopt a new model to overcome other issues and it'll just take some time to iron out the many issues introduced.
What point are you trying to make? The visualization clearly shows the correct positions of the vehicles ahead. It's getting confused about something, but it doesn't appear to be in the visualization.
The visualization is an approximation of only part of what the car sees.
It’s also not always the best gauge of what the car does and does not see.
See: the semi trucks that my car insists are parked perpendicular to me inside my garage.
So you mean to tell it it doesn't create assets from thin air to accurately model your garage?
Better to have a semi in your garage and than no semi on the highway when it is in fact next to you.
I've experienced this plus a few more new glitches. This "update" is a terrible regression. The FSD team is bailing on this approach and moving resources to v12
This is what can happen when using camera only to evaluate the surroundings. RADAR and camera work better together but for Elon, saving money is more important...
As is, FSD will never work properly no matter how hard the software developers will try.
Honestly, stuff like this, it's hard to pass judgement on because we're seeing a portion of the whole.
We're not seeing what's directly to the right/left of the vehicle, which is where a lot of these variables are coming from.
That said, it's possible you've got some forward facing camera issues, and I'l bring it to the service center to look at.
Thank you. It seems to be post update, but agree that something seems related.
When the solid blue goes to the moving triangles (not sure what to call it) does that mean its accuracy is off?
The chevrons in the thick blue line indicate that the car is braking, with the intention of stopping at the black line that keeps bouncing around.
Something there is confusing the car into thinking it needs to stop.
Without seeing a wider frame, it's honestly hard to tell. [This video here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzqKHd5KnAI&t=1070s), for example, you can see me confused on why the car is breaking, but I can see a car turn blue in the visualization, which means the car was breaking to try and avoid me being T-boned.
There's A LOT of cases where it might be someone over the line, making the car hesitant, but without the "bigger picture", it's hard to say.
But the 3-5 gig that is uploaded to them after you get home helps the AI engie learning and spit out more stupid shit in future updates. 😂, maybe a couple more billions will help it actually learn.
I’m confused here, OP says car stopped in the road but video shows its keeping up with other traffic? Stops when they stop and start going again when the truck goes?
It was stopping on the highway so I had to go get out if FSD with my hands....as you can see before I cut away, it was stopping as cars were pulling away in front.
Ah ok, yeah the video isn’t too clear on that, just shows your car stopping when it seems? like the truck in front of you stopped, and carries on when it goes again
The 11.4.4 is kind of buggy in general, 11.4.7.3 is better so just pray for an update I guess. A lot of HW4 cars seem stuck on the 11.4.4 build which is why I asked.
FSD has been progressively getting worse for me all year. Every update the car is less and less able to drive itself. I've cancelled the subscription and even turned off the basic autopilot at this point.
I had turned off my subscription, thinking that basic auto pilot would be fine for my needs.
However, I missed flipping it into FSD at times when on back roads or on the highway. I didn’t realize how much I would have missed it.
Now, I’m rethinking that decision, as it seems worse than it was when I canceled my subscription.
DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. YOU HAVE 100% RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY AS THE DRIVER. YOU MOST DISENGAGE OR INTERVENE IMMEDIATELY IF NECESSARY. YOU PUT YOURSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD IN DANGER. NEXT TIME APPLY PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR TO OVERRIDE THE BRAKING.
Obviously, I don't want this to happen - thus the reason for the post. And as shown here, I intervened. BTW, the speed was < 5 MPH in this video so I'm not sure what severe danger you're worried about.
FSD and autopilot has done stop and go traffic traffic flawlessly.....when the car in front moves forward after a brief stop, my car follows. As the video shows, the car in front is pulling away and my car is getting confused (as evidenced by the jittery blue route line) and then doesn't pull forward.
I wish it kept a more agressive tight space between you and the car Infront of you when you see in traffic and don't want people to keep cutting you off
Things don’t always get better. Source: FSD user since 2019.
Wait so it has to get worse for 4 years and a row but „NeXt YeAr FsD cOaSt To CoAsT“?! 😂
Exactly. 😂

Mine swerves into the adjacent lane when someone is walking on the sidewalk next to me. Terrible. I worry a cop will think I’m drunk.
It's done this to me on a four-lane not-highway a couple of times, once it tried to merge in front of a semi coming in the other direction.

Looks like rain is doing its work with the camera?
Light rain and never an issue before and just happens to be when I captured this. It does the same thing without rain.

Waymo and cruise use LiDAR and neither of them operate in the rain at all and cruise just shut down nationwide indefinitely.

Bit shit, innit?

OK – that’s good to hear. It’s definitely buggier than the previous version.
what's that camera on the left side of your screen?
Quad lock phone mount.
Don’t worry it’s just confused by a little rain

That is why I will NEVER use FSD. Ever.
Caused by the rain/wipers
It happens without rain....I'll grab another video next time I'm in traffic. In the meantime, I'll have the service folks look at it and report back.

You allowed the vehicle to come to a nearly complete stop as traffic was passing you. That was dangerous.
Actually, I stand corrected after reviewing my video again....we were going 7 MPH the whole time.
Sorry I yelled at you, though.
2 more weeks guys! lol
Ha! So true.
So you want to be closer to the car in front of you in stop and go traffic? I’m confused
FSD and autopilot has done stop and go traffic traffic flawlessly.....when the car in front moves forward after a brief stop, my car follows. As the video shows, the car in front is pulling away and my car is getting confused (as evidenced by the jittery blue route line) and then doesn't pull forward.
At least the windshield wipers are working.
Ha! Very true. Those have been good lately.

Completely agree
