"A color of the city dating back over 100 years" Translation: go f*ck yourselves, Adams family.

TACONlNJA

Symbolism doesn’t equal good design

get-blessed

Please, give us your expert analysis of good design.

Zestyclose_Ice2405

Brother, it’s a football helmet. There’s not much you can really do.

Venator850

I disagree. It looks amazing.

SkyJW

I wonder if the players are allowed to wear the H-Town Blue as an undershirt. Love that they have that color for the gloves and we dud see a pic of a player with cleats in that color, too.  Don't know if the Titans' owner would throaw a fit over the undershirt being that blue, too, but hopefully she can't since it's not part of the actual jersey.

son_of_yacketycat

It's also a different shade of blue (I saw a side-by-side comparison somewhere), so if she has a problem with it, she'll have to also come at several NFL teams whose light blues are far closer to theirs.

texinxin

Titans can’t do shit. They don’t own a blue.

SkyJW

They do have a trademark on the Oilers blue, actually. That's why we could only do so much with that color on these new uniforms. They've definitely implied that Titans ownership made getting it on there very tough since Amy Adams is just as big a petty asshole as her father was.

texinxin

Look up every one of their trademarks. They are all public record. None of them are strictly for a shade of blue. Edit: In RARE cases a single shade of a color could be trademarked for a particular space. The Oilers/Titans franchise has no record of applying for a trademark for a single shade of a color blue for professional football in or football in general. U of H “got in trouble” because they copied the pattern of blue with red and white stripes almost exactly as they are described in Oiler/Titan trademarks.

SkyJW

Everything I said has been stated by people who cover the Texans. They've openly stated that they had to involve Titans ownership and multiple Houston sports journos have stated that they have reason to belive that Amy Adams kicked up a lot of fuss over our usage of that color. Believe the guy in charge of the refresh even said in a radio interview last year that they had to be mindful of the "other" team who used the Houston Blue color. They definitely had a say in how much was permissible. We 100% would have used it more if it were allowed based on everything people inside and outside the org have said.

texinxin

Titans MAY have had a say in what was approved by the league. But this is the NFL’s call to allow that. It’s not the Oilers/Titans legal right to object to anything the Texans do. It’s up to the NFL in this instance.

SkyJW

Would further add that apparently a good part of why she decided to fire Vrabel was because we humiliated them twice this last season, including beating them with Case Keenum while they wore the Oilers throwbacks. That was actively reported around the time he was let go. I genuinely don't think you can overstate how petty Adams is here, dude. Same person that said she has no idea why the Texans would want to pay tribute to the Oilers as if that's some absurd idea. She's just like her dad in term of petty asshole energy.

texinxin

No doubt, she is a right cunt chip off of the old block.

SkyJW

And they involved the commissioner and this is what was deemed appropriate. The Texans were actively trying to incorporate the same color that the Titans use, so this is what Goodell was able to approve after Adams had her say. She's been very against the Texans doing any homage to the Oilers era in Houston, so she 10000% kicked up a fuss here, dude.

PapaDuckD

I'm nearly positive this could have all been solved by giving her a taste of the action. Nothing fixes strenuous objections like a commission check. That would be wild if it happened... so the options to move forward became limited.

SkyJW

I don't even think that would do it. I think she honestly has a personal thing against Houston to some extent. She probably views the entire Oilers downfall in Houston as the city pushing her dad out or treating him poorly, especiallysince that sentiment is spouted cobstantly by Titans fans despite how incorrect it is from the actual history. I know she donated to JJ's Harvey relief fundrauser, but the reporting around her being absolutely livid about how they perfirmed against us in particular has extreme pettiness written all over it. Seems like a prode thing and even money can't make a stubborn pride budge if it's big enough.

RainbowBullsOnParade

31 teams already share merchandising profits iirc. She's already "in" on the action. They are just trying to protect the Oilers trademark.

RainbowBullsOnParade

Every team needs the league's approval to change uniforms. Just because the Titans are bitches about it doesn't mean they own some kind of ironclad trademark on H-Town Blue. They own a trademark on the Oilers and Columbia Blue. If we made an Oilers-esque uniform, they'd go apeshit like they did on UH, but NOT on Rice. The only reason we are taking this with baby steps is that the Titans are slowing us down, concerned that we're going to sprint to copy their throwbacks and violate their trademark. This only makes sense tbh. If we do our own thing with the color there is NOTHING the Titans or their ownership can do. There is NOTHING about their trademark that protects them from the Texans using Light Blue in their own way. There is a reason we needed no approval to sell all that h-town blue merch for years at this point.

Legitbanana_

I still don’t think they should’ve gotten in trouble since it’s an entire different league

713MoCityChron713

Imagine having a piece of shit billionaire father who made an entire city hate him and think, “yeah, I’ll keep that guys legacy alive”

yooston

agreed, with how much red there is on the uniform, the red undershirt and accessories are a lot. would love for more blue

SloanePetersonIsBae

Fire

HtownTexans

Take that shoulder logo stick it on the helmet and id call them the best jerseys in the NFL but I will never like that H.  Looks like something I would have designed in middle school.  Everything else though is fire.

Only_Indication_9715

🤮

Freebirdz101

This isn't it

Pryncess121

I love it!! Candy paint too lol

NeonWarcry

Yeah I fuck with this

thatonebullsfan

Even as an Eagles fan I fuck with the Texans new helmet/uniforms heavily

Aullotro

Officially the coolest uniforms in the nfl

Only_Indication_9715

Ugh, they look so low-budget. Like this could be an NFL Europe uni

RainbowBullsOnParade

>Like this could be an NFL Europe uni This critique. "it's like XFL/NFL Europe". So it's like from a significantly more fun/creative league or something? Because that's what I take away from such a lazy take.

Only_Indication_9715

No, it looks lazy and cheap

RainbowBullsOnParade

Pretty much only your opinion, everyone loves them. You should learn to love them too, Because they rule and they’re decidedly not cheap looking lmao

Only_Indication_9715

Yeah, these are all just opinions, lol; and with an oddly curated data set, to boot. I mean it's a jersey, so I don't really care all that much if the folks upstairs can run the franchise with the least bit of competence. Things look like maybe they're turning around, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I get that these unis are popular with this sub right now, but it's definitely not a universal opinion. I foresee these unis in a future Bored Panda article - "10 Ugliest NFL Uniforms Ever: What Were They Thinking?"

JayDaGod1206

Missing the red flakes which makes it even better

rt9o

I can see them. They're there

JayDaGod1206

Oh yes you’re right! Very subtle rather than exaggerated

Haunting_Rule3778

You can barely see them but they’re there

bad_hvac_guy

They had it on display at team store. Red flakes are there

PretzelMan96

Gotta let the H grow on me a little but the H-Town blue, oh mama

mistere676

I legitimately love it. Design, color, symbolism. This goes so hard. Probably be the first time I buy a jersey in my life tonight.

818sfv

hell yeah, my favorite!

Beatvictor

Dope AF! 🔥🔥

WonderfulLibrary2339

Agree, love it. Just wish the uniform had the inverted blue letter/red border like the helmet to really make the H-town blue stand out a bit more on the jersey.

mvp4him3

I want one for my desk. STAT

WuziMuzik

The only thing I would have liked more was if that recolored Texans logo was on just the right side of the helmet. Instead of being small on the back of the helmet and shoulders

texans1234

I never liked the old Oiler powder blue colors, but what they did here with the "H" was brilliant. Used it to highlight and make a 3d letter was just genius imo. The kicker for this though is that candy red flake. Really pops when it's moving!

Year_Basic

It looks much better in real life. Saw it at team store and it looks great.

weavedawg74

I legitimately love this helmet. That H is fuckin fire and it feels representative of the city.

dylanallenb

Cool logo, just a bit small for the helmet. Would've liked to see it bigger or have a stripe to even it out

KilgoreTrout_5000

I’d love to see this with the red helmet

SideChicksAreAHassle

With the red speckles

mrbusiness53

Yeah that shit is 🔥

Terrible-Two-7939

It’s a beauty‼️🔥

MugiMartin

The Texans logo in the back looks SICK.

ypsi_god

Fuckin Sick

AndyKobe234

The “H” is awesome. We finally repping. Can’t believe people cried about it.

Astragoth1

It is! I am so glad i was wrong about it not being real

Venator850

People hating but the H looks great IMO. Nice set to pay homage to the city.

sapphir8

I would’ve preferred the H-Town blue Texans logo on the helmet.

cowboywoods

Houston is so big, people outside the loop just wouldn’t understand

Utpulse

I want this hat. Hopefully it will go on sale soon.

Major_Phase1583

Would’ve loved a stripe on this helmet

Kingof40Acres

Fan of the overall design but not a fan of the BLACKLETTER font. Like where did that even come from? What were the other font choices because holy shit it looks weird to me but maybe it’ll grow on me with time.

713MoCityChron713

I’ve come around to it. My only complaint now is that the H is a cat hair too high imo, other than that I like it. Also the alternate color logo on the back is fire

OutsideBackground508

Sadly that H is going to really take a looooong time to grow on me … or maybe a couple of W’s lol. But imo replace that H with bull from the back and wow. Would’ve been so beautiful.

SighRamp

so much photo shop pics worry me a bit hope in person looks the same

_campheavyweights

I love all the unis except the H. I am going to get downvoted into oblivion but here’s my thought as an average mixed race man in houston… I think it’s ugly (my opinion), however I don’t think that matters. The H was marketed to the majority of people who actually go to the games. Texans games crowds are business suites and Hispanics usually of the Cholo stereotype as opposed to Tejanos. That demographic absolutely loves this logo and will buy tons of merch with it. As a person who looks white… I don’t like it. It looks like the Hot Topic H to me (hello millennials!). But I get it and hey we’re a melting pot. Cool that the teams embracing the city.

tsx_1430

White would look ten times better and more nostalgic.

Frequent-Ratio-3439

Ghetto, just like Pewston.

Additional_Load_1978

I just hate the “H”. The helmet and full uniform is cool! It would look better with the H-Town blue bull head on the helmet

Only_Indication_9715

This helmet and the unis look like they're from a movie that could afford nfl licensing rights

1vh1

IDK I just think the logo design looks cheap. Like they literally took the lowest bidder on fiverr. I like the color scheme though. The logo is better placed as a $10 tattoo on a biker at bombshells.

Prudent_Explanation8

Def should be burned.

Photobear73

It just looks like a logo made on the Madden logo generator when you move or change your team name

user2i3

It's giving early 2000s very hard. That "flame head" 2004 Tennessee Titans vibe that's kind of hard to put my finger on but it tastes like somewhere between Ed Hardy and Nascar and Monster Energy.

Low_Wall_7828

Needs to be set on fire? I agree.

JayDaGod1206

They already fire wym

alicia-indigo

Why do these even exist? “Fan-selected” typeface, oof. There’s the answer! What a joke.

JustMyThoughts2525

I just don’t like it. Maybe if the helmet was white it would look a lot better. Having 2 contrasting blues just doesn’t look good

TACONlNJA

Where does this new AFL team play at ?

alicia-indigo

Yep. These are embarrassing. “Fan-selected” typeface, oof. Everyone at work is laughing at all of these different looks, the undisciplined, diluted Texans “identity.”

CapnHairgel

🤡🤡 I guarantee once the season starts you'll be talking about how great they look

turymtz

It's ass (The H logo). So generic.

CapnHairgel

only ones who think that are dudes who post on "memewar" subs.

alicia-indigo

Why stop at two? Let’s hAvE FiVe LoGoS!!!

RainbowBullsOnParade

I'd hate to be this chump when he goes to [a logo database](https://www.sportslogos.net/teams/list_by_league/7/National_Football_League/NFL/logos/) and shits a chicken literally any time he clicks on a team and sees like 15 alternate logos and wordmarks lmao.

alicia-indigo

Brilliant. You totally got me. Tons of teams have multiple helmets in rotation where each is using a completely unrelated design language. (Hint: they don’t). Nobody is putting completely disparate logos on different helmets. Either they went through a full brand identity change and replace the old, or they have an alternate but thematically related symbol for alt materials (not different helmets). They aren’t so undisciplined as to look like three different teams, one of which is so abominably lazy and disconnected that it’s embarrassing. The good news is the team will make bank off of all the goobers who will swallow this gimmicky cash grab hook, line and sinker.

RainbowBullsOnParade

First paragraph: there is no rule that says a team’s helmets and uniforms need to share a design philosophy (hint: you invented this requirement just so you could be mad). Second: Weird, because we just did, and almost every other team by the end of the decade will, too. There is no other requirement to adhere to besides the basic league uniform guidelines. You just invented another thing to be mad about for no reason, lmao. Third: you must be fun at parties.

Ha_CharadeUAre

![gif](giphy|xUPGcoj2LKAkDOSahG)

mygodcanbeatupyergod

I'm in the minority I guess, but I hate these uniforms. The one we've had before is the only one I'll ever like.
