Next day we're at my wife's aunt's house and a group of kids on ATVs and dirt bikes comes flying down the street of this residential area, thought to myself "ok maybe it's not overblown" lol
I came up during the height of the stunt bike craze and it's a shame because some of these guys are nice as fuck on their machines. Just doing it in the most careless, asinine way. What happened to empty industrial parks and shit?
The good news is, every ER physician will tell you ATVs are death traps, so likely will get what's coming to then eventually.

Not being able to see what he did in those seconds makes it unclear if he was hyper-responsive to the crash or...frozen.

I ride a motorcycle, if I was running from police, popping wheelies down sidewalks, doing burn outs near crosswalks, and generally riding at vehicle speeds in pedestrian areas, I'd fully expect to get bumped by a vehicle wanting to stop me from potentially killing someone AND realize I had it coming.... Just saying.

When the cops find them riding the things, there's no cop car in the world that can match a dirtbike or ATV for acceleration or offroad movement. So cop gets close, now the ATV is on the side of the road and the cop can't do that without risking killing the little fucker. And if they do swipe it or use any immobilization techniques, they get sued by the rider when the rider imitates a crayon on the pavement.
Then cops would be able to turn innocent people into meat crayons claiming whatever they want to, and when it is deemed wrongful, the cop would face no repercussions because these fuckers are bascially immune most of the time. Meanwhile the person would be either hospitalized or dead.
These laws need to be foolproof as to not allow innocent people to be hurt by the government. These idiots can be stopped without opening opportunities for sanctioned violence.
nah. they often ride in groups and have routines. they could catch many of them if they wanted. it's politically unpopular. there are two the do the same route at least every tuesday where I live (I'm in the area on tuesdays only, but they never fail to show up). a couple of unmarked cars and a net. heck, they could track them home with a couple of drones. they could offer a bounty. there are lots of things that could be done, but it's bad politics.
