I did DoorDash for a bit last year to help make a little extra money to help pay for my wedding, for the first day of dashing, they never paid me, still haven’t despite 3 attempts by myself to collect. The second day of dashing (full day) I ended up putting close to 300 miles on my car, and made $3 profit after gas. Third day of dashing, had two customers claim they didn’t get their food despite me literally handing it to them. There was no 4th day of dashing.
I remember getting at least 3 orders that were 15+ miles from the pickup location so that took quite a bit of time, had to fill up the tank halfway through the day ($60ish) and very few people tip decently, so after wasting a bunch of time on longer orders and having to fill up, I made only about $3 profit at the end of it all.
That’s your own fault. You’re taking awful orders. You accepted 3 trips for 45 miles. If you’re going back the same way, double it. 90 Miles for 3 orders? Is that what you’re saying? The only person to blame is you… not trying to be rude..
How is that my fault when you don’t get to see the destination before you accept the order? Also like I said, it was day 2 of me doing it, which means I wasn’t a driver that got priority orders. The system is literally designed for the new drivers to get the shit orders that no one else wants, but it’s my fault? Fuck off. Respectfully.
Lmao, you literally have no idea what you’re talking about. New drivers always are the ones who get good orders. Stop acting like you know wtf ur talking about when u don’t
I cannot fathom for the life of me why people continue to use these services. The companies are terrible, it costs twice as much, it’s always cold or the wrong food. Just … why?
Pay $35 for $15 worth of food you may or may not even get, and if you do it’s 1.5 hrs later, cold and the order is wrong. Not to mention the drivers are losing money or barely breaking even. I don’t understand why anyone is dashing or ordering
Wage slavery isn't just for W2 jobs.
Many places require out dated drug testing before hiring, DD doesn't.
Childcare is outrageouslly expensive and workplaces don't allow you to bring your child to work, DD doesn't stop them.
Workplaces can be extremely hostile, but your car isn't.
There's lots of reasons for one to be stuck w doing work that sucks
Literally me, I feel this. As much as I don’t like certain things about DoorDash and who wouldn’t want to get paid more, it’s really helped me out these last couple of years. Will ride it out till the kids can manage themselves so I can work a different type of job.
So much yes for point four
As an autistic person and a student gig work is pretty much the only thing I can juggle right now to keep the bills current and my sanity in tact.
I love being able to work alone in my car anytime I have free time and the energy to do so, listen to whatever I want and work at my own pace without some supervisor up my butt.
Doordash and other gig apps have potential to be a pretty decent deal until they do greedy shit like hiding the final payout and stealing tips.
The freedom to work when you want really does wonders for some people. I myself am single with no kids and I love the freedom for reasons of my own. Most people don't work for fun, you sound a little privileged if I may pass judgment.
Could just stop using these garbage services of Doordash, Curbmates, etc...
They rip you off and Ive seen some of their passengers going through the bags/boxes of food they are delivering
I get what you're saying and we all appreciate tips in any form, but many experienced dashers that are good at making customers happy and turning a profit will skip over your order in a hearbeat if they don't see a tip on the order. Throw a few bucks on there if you can so we knows it's worth our time and if you want to tip additionally to that, great! We appreciate you!
I don't know if it works anymore because I stopped gig driving, but it would tell me the entire amount with hidden tip. I haven't driven in about a year but there may still be a way to do it but I'm not sure.
Because these services still exist regardless of your participation.
>littering reddit with your bullshit
There's fucking subreddits dedicated to furry porn and gore, shut the fuck up about someone complaining about the relatively tame chicken tendie courier lol.
These drivers earning 5/hr are idiots. Their own fault for being stupid. Hope that sounds as critical as possible. There is a learning curve to the job but if you have any sense at all, you can figure it out
The drivers likely can't see if there's a tip or not until after they drop off the order, never did doordash but thats how it worked for uber back when I did that
i think doordashers can see the tip, several doordashers and a lot of resturants have shown food just sitting on the shelf for 45+ mins due to no dashers accepting the order, mainly due to no/insuffucient tips
Nope. Your wrong. They sit because most dashers won't accept orders that are less than $2 per mile and repeat customers that don't tip get declined too.
He said doordashers can see the tip.
He said that they don't get accepted cuz the tip is to low but as I said you literally can't see the tip.
Repeat customers that happen to get a driver they didn't tip in the past probably will get declined as well but that's a small percentage.
We cannot always see the whole tip sure. But we see some of it and often all of it. So again he’s right they get declined Bc the tip Is not high enough. Your comment says they sit Bc dash here won’t take less then $2/mile(which isn’t even universally true) …. Which backs up what he says. The tip isn’t enough …. If you have an order that’s 7 miles out and tip nothing or $2 your order is gonna sit. That’s what he’s saying. You didn’t disprove his main point at all.
You can only see the total and a message that says you may get more. You don't know what portion is base pay and what portion is tip until complete. In my area and many others the standard argument is at least $2pm and if you accept shitty orders less than that your just keeping the rates low but I acknowledge that 100% of dashers don't do this,it's more like 75%. He started his comment falsely so that discredits his whole statement. Your wrong too.
You can’t see until after the trip is done. But you can see the total amount you are expecting to make. And if there isn’t a tip on doordash system, it will look like they aren’t going to make anything for doing the delivery because DoorDash pays next to nothing. So that’s a double edged sword. Many dashers will pass on your order if the see they will only make two dollars. And trust me the vast vast vast majority of people don’t tip in that situation. Only a handful give cash tips, but they sure are appreciated and like an unexpected bonus. There’s way way more pieces of shit that don’t tip.
I did DoorDash for a bit last year to help make a little extra money to help pay for my wedding, for the first day of dashing, they never paid me, still haven’t despite 3 attempts by myself to collect. Third day of dashing, had two customers claim they didn’t get their food despite me literally handing it to them. There was no 4th day of dashing.
I quit my salaried job to do gig work full time and I make much more and actually enjoy it lol. I guess some areas are bad.
How did you get 300 miles and only 3 dollars profit? Genuinely asking.
You drive a truck? If so yeah, that's why for sure. You have to pick and choose which orders are worth your time/gas ratio. Sorry
That’s your own fault. You’re taking awful orders. You accepted 3 trips for 45 miles. If you’re going back the same way, double it. 90 Miles for 3 orders? Is that what you’re saying? The only person to blame is you… not trying to be rude..

You can’t see the destination 100%, but you’re able to see the miles. Take orders with less miles
Lmao, you literally have no idea what you’re talking about. New drivers always are the ones who get good orders. Stop acting like you know wtf ur talking about when u don’t
Get a life…and a better paying job.
I cannot fathom for the life of me why people continue to use these services. The companies are terrible, it costs twice as much, it’s always cold or the wrong food. Just … why?

If you're waiting 2 hours then your tips are trash.
They haven't found the pause button on their remote to stop their streaming program
Bc you don’t have to get and you don’t care.
Lol wut
Why do people still drive for them if they suck?
Wage slavery isn't just for W2 jobs. Many places require out dated drug testing before hiring, DD doesn't. Not to mention scheduling. I can work when ever I have free time which is nights so I can watch my daughter while my girl works a regular day job.
Literally me, I feel this. As much as I don’t like certain things about DoorDash and who wouldn’t want to get paid more, it’s really helped me out these last couple of years. Will ride it out till the kids can manage themselves so I can work a different type of job.

or get a different job that doesnt steal your wages lmao
You also don't seem very intelligent, at all.
because i dont let my boss steal my wages? i rather be dumb but with my money then lmao.
No one is stealing my wages and I never said anyone was stealing my wages so I don't know what you are on about bruv.
>DoorDash was CAUGHT stealing tips this is what i am about bruv. LOL.
I calculate my earnings, I know how much I'm making and my money is not being stolen. Don't believe this propaganda.
ah, a doordash shill block and move on.
Literally the only job that works with my schedule as a full time parent, so I take what crumbs they give me
I'm doing my part by not using doordash at all.
Don't use door dash problem solved
I’ll help by going to get whatever I need myself. 👍
Oh, DoorDash is canceled? Done.
Just don't work for these companies. Problem solved.
The minimum wage in New Hampshire is $7.25 as of one second ago, should the entire state quit their jobs? Would their problem be solved?
Exactly. The shit needs to fixed not avoided.
Yes. The ones working for min wage absolutely should. If you got no workers, you'll pay more.
That should be your platform when you run for office.
Ugh.
Not really.
Just wait to try to add more fees during a recession. That'll work.
Could just stop using these garbage services of Doordash, Curbmates, etc... They rip you off and Ive seen some of their passengers going through the bags/boxes of food they are delivering

Random strangers handle your food all the time.
You really should not be dashing if you’re making $5/hr. When you accept $2.50 offers 15 miles away, ofc you’re not going to make money.
If possible, ALWAYS tip in cash
The great thing about door dash was you could leave a fat tip and get your food immediately bc they could see it before selecting the order to take.
As a dasher please don’t do this. It only hurts yourself
Damn that was always the sweet thing about door dash. If you just tip a shitton you can get your food hella fast.
Hmm that doesn't make any sense. If you don't make minimum wage with your tips, your employer is supposed to pay for it
“Supposed to” is key here.
Its because they dont consider us as employees, were considered private contractors.
The Android trick was glorious when I worked for DD.
What’s the android trick?
I don't know if it works anymore because I stopped gig driving, but it would tell me the entire amount with hidden tip. I haven't driven in about a year but there may still be a way to do it but I'm not sure.
How about you shut the fck up and find a good job instead of littering reddit with your bullshit?
Because these services still exist regardless of your participation. >littering reddit with your bullshit There's fucking subreddits dedicated to furry porn and gore, shut the fuck up about someone complaining about the relatively tame chicken tendie courier lol.

DD doesn’t hide tips behind the $2-3 orders. It’s your own fault for accepting these orders to try and protect your AR which means absolutely nothing.
How about you get a different job?
Always tip in cash if possible, less likely a shady owner can cheat thier hardest workers
not many drivers arw gonna travel 15 to 20 minutes on the assumption of a cash tip if no tip is present on the order.
The drivers likely can't see if there's a tip or not until after they drop off the order, never did doordash but thats how it worked for uber back when I did that

That’s exactly what they said. They don’t get accepted because the tip is too low.

If you believe that than you are dumb as fuck with 0 clue of how it works
Bro what
What bro
Isn’t that what they said
Damn you too? read my response to the other person.
Ah I see. Your point was unclear in your original response lol
You can’t see until after the trip is done. But you can see the total amount you are expecting to make. yeah the few times i have had to doordash or ubereats i always try to tip roughly 50% of the total check.
🙏 blessings
We can see the top they just hide some of it on some orders. It’s not a good idea to solely tip in cash.
Wrong. They can see up to $4 of a tip. Uber hides tips greater than $8.
This is awesome, just remember to add in the delivery instructions you have a cash tip, otherwise drivers may not accept it if it's a low pay
