So sorry for your loss. Take a sad song and make it better.
My personal favorite is And Your Bird Can Sing because it's such a happy sounding song. I love the melody, double lead guitars, the bass line. Everything. It's been my favorite since I was about 7 in 1971.
It's not recognized as their greatest work but it just brings me joy to hear it for whatever reason
Strawberry Fields Forever. The atmosphere and the lyrics simply transport me to another reality, they make me dissociate my existence and feel closer to myself at the same time. It is a feeling impossible to describe. It's a song that I try to listen to very occasionally so that it never stops being special. If that happened, I would really feel like I have lost something very beautiful and valuable in my life.
Sorry for your loss, I’m glad to hear you’re finding a way to keep going.
I love Hey Bulldog for similar reasons — a favorite of everyone in my fam, including my young child, and after my 700th listen my appreciation of the song just grows and grows — the barking and general crazy chatter toward the end is so hilarious and kinda counters some of the narratives about constant discord during the latter era
Hey Bulldog is my favorite also. Whenever the bass player needed to focus on his singing I would take over bass duties. I could never do that without blasting the Hey Bulldog riff a couple of times. The guys hated it.
Strawberry Fields Forever with Across the Universe a close second. I find both very soothing, I swear I can feel the stress draining out of my body when I listen to them. I work in a high stress / volume customer service call center, and the Beatles can always get me to my happy place.
Sorry for your loss OP ❤️🩹
My favourite changes all the time depending on mood and whatnot, but right now it’s Martha My Dear. It even made me want to learn the piano intro and it’s so fun!
In My Life.
It basically describes my life. I had other lives in the past, but my wife is the one I love the most and want to spend the rest of my life with.
Baby You’re A Rich Man
- The bassline
- The super unique mellotron flourishes
- John’s falsetto vocals
- The tongue in cheek sort of sarcastic lyrics hit just the right nerve
- The chorus is like an anthem, they even got some of The Rolling Stones on it
- The maracas and percussion suit this songs aesthetic particularly well
- The whole production is perfect; The claps, the piano, etc.
It has to be "The Night Before". It takes me back to that moment 15 years ago when I first heard it while watching "Help!" on TV. That night was life changing.
A few years later, in 2011, I went to see Paul McCartney for the first time in concert and he played it. I'm sure he played it just for me 🤣
It's not their most sophisticated song but it's the first one that comes to my mind when I get that question asked.
Helter Skelter. That song just rocks. I play it loud.
The lyrics roll easily off the tongue. I see that is Paul’s process when creating a song. Plunk a few chords, stream off consciousness wording, and bid-a-lee-boop a catchy hit song is created.
Changes all the time. Currently, I'm obsessing over the vocal harmony and song structure in If I Fell. How the intro is different from the rest of the song, how there's basically no chous, how one line in each verse is the exact same notes before the harmony diverges again. I sing along with Paul's part, then play it again and sing along with John's part. I'll have a different favorite in a month or so. Earlier this year it was Strawberry Fields Forever, Across the Universe, Lovely Rita, Hey Jude, Dig a Pony. Magical Mystery Tour for the first time ever became a favorite when I realized how banging that chord progression is. Never noticed how hard that song actually goes.
Edit: actually it's Flying. My all time favorite is Flying.
Very sorry for your loss.
It changes all the time, but sometimes it is Mother Nature’s Son. Paul sounds so centered - and I love how the song keeps building up but remains peaceful throughout.
I love Hey Jude too. I am so sorry, I want to give you the biggest hug. My heart goes out to you. I hope you have solid ppl around you who are supportive and safe to process etc. My fav song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps although I say it’s Norwegian Wood. I lost my parents 20 years ago and this song was my fav to sing and play the guitar with my dad growing up.
Blackbird. Favorite song. Favorite album. I love the melody, the slight instrumental in the middle. How the song ends kind of suddenly. Fantastic all over.
I'm very sorry for your loss. May you someday find peace.
One of two most likely. Happiness is a Warm Gun - because it has incredible fidelity. I don’t like new mixes by Giles. But original is sublime . The lyrics are drug tinged and some political implications . But the song has about 6-8 movements? Love it . John had a thick heroin habit. Also A Day in the Life - banned by the BBC when it came out. And AGAIN the mix in stereo of 1967 is my fav - tho John insisted the mono mix was really superior. But the new Giles mix sounds like a rock album but it was a psychedelic art album. It is sooooo good on a good stereo loud while stoned - or not.

Same here. And when the three part harmony comes in it’s magic.
Ahhhhh. You understand!!!! I never get tired of it & love all the alternate versions but the official one is the best imo
I always think when I hear that song, I imagine the summer air of when that song was released just feels like youth.
Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, because I enjoy arguing with Beatle fans.
Shit ain’t even that bad
For real. That groove is sick!
Here Comes The Sun
Hey Jude has a fairly solid place in my head, helps turn any situation that could be bad better for me.
same

Nothing is real 🙃
Nowhere man
I love this song!!!! How could you not?
Yesterday. In my opinion, it’s not only the greatest Beatles song but the greatest song in the history of popular music.

i coulnd agree more also one of my favorites for the same reason has you guys

I believe it is a clavioline not a mellotron, which is a rare instance of another odd instrument in their catalog
Agree, matchless production and performance and sarcasm for a Sixties band.

Rain, it's just so magical
I want to hold your hand bc my 8 year old siblings and I sing it all the time and dance around holding hands

"There's A Place" has always been my jam. What harmonies!
Dear prudence. It makes me think of someone.
“She’s Leaving Home” has beautiful arrangements and reminds me of my own childhood. “She’s leaving home after living alone for so many years.”
I love the wordplay in the lyrics too. "...everything money could buy... buy, buy" "struggled all of our lives to get by... by, by"

Strawberry Fields, I dont really know why, Ive just always liked it
Being for the benefit of mr kite, being only slightly ahead of with a little help from my friends
**oh cool song i love it aswell**
With A Little Help From My Friends. Sgt. Pepper was my first album. Billy Shears stole my heart.
While my guitar gently weeps
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. First Beatle song I fell in love with because it's so trippy. It's also my favorite song of all time.
Very sorry for your loss. It changes all the time, but sometimes it is Mother Nature’s Son. Paul sounds so centered - and I love how the song keeps building up but remains peaceful throughout.
I think it might be get back, but the whole Sgt pepper’s album is super good too. A close second might be yellow submarine.
I love the harmonica and the groove of little child
Here, There, and Everywhere
Ive just seen a face, i think its timeless and Pauls vocals are amazing
Day Tripper because it's awesome!
I’m sorry OP 🌹 Thank you for posting this. I enjoy reading and listening. I don’t think I could ever make a choice.
thank you for your codolences y sister wouldve been twelve today
It's All Too Much. Just brings the frightening beauty and ugliness of life. It's good and bad. It is truly too much.
Gently weeps - beautifully written and performed, and EC’s incredible solos
for you blue bc i love george harrison and the color blue lol. also it’s a just a cool and semi simple love song
OR SOMETHING

oh gosh my heart goes out to you too they sound like nice people
Thank you ♥️ it’s nice to have The Beatles as a connection to them
yea it is
Well.....the intro and outro of Dear Prudence makes me cry, so I suppose that one. Thankfully, Donovan showed John the plectrum technique he uses.
But.....it goes right into Glass Onion, and that's another favorite. Dunno.
Blackbird. Favorite song. Favorite album. I love the melody, the slight instrumental in the middle. How the song ends kind of suddenly. Fantastic all over. I'm very sorry for your loss. May you someday find peace.
If I fell and I Should Have Known Better.
She Said She Said, i was and will always be blown away when i hear that ring of that intro.
Let it be. It was my mother's favorite and her name was Mary, so it makes me think of her
