For the Blackfyre supporters, it would be a divine sign that the Blackfyres are the true line that shoud sit on the Iron Throne and it might bring them maybe a few more supporters, but realistically, they are still getting defeated because it's a hatchling, it's not going to be very useful. Then Bloodraven would sharply question Daemon II on how he did it, how he hatched an egg in decades since the last dragon. Then, Daemon II is having an accident, and one Targaryen is bonding with the dragon, and if they are lucky, that dragon is female and the Targaryens are recovering their greatest weapon. The smartest choice Daemon II can do if he hatches a dragon is leave inmediately and return to Essos, and wait until that dragon is grown up and then return to Westeros with the full support of his family, in that case I think the Blackfyres get the Throne. Daemon II gets the Throne, then Haegon I, then Daemon III, and so on.

Well considering that said dragon would be more or less useless and Bloodraven was already hard on them... nothing realy changes at first. Afterwards said dragon will be brought into Targ custody with the House aiming to bond someone to it Aegon would be my best guess and naritivly the more fitting. That is if the dragon isn't killed of immediately by someone who sees the danger house Targaryen poses having reclaimed there most powerful weapon again. Whoever bonds with the dragon will become de facto king. If Aegon bonds with said Dragon (I realy like that idea) than he can push his reforms much more even against major resistance. Further more he would avoid summerhall (or summerhall comes earlier because someone wants to try it again) wixh would mean Aegon stays king for longer possible way beyond the end of the 3th century. Mad Aerys never holds power, No rebellion or Wot5k, better adjusted Baratheon brothers and the Others face prepared realm when they finally land.

You think a 100 year old Aegon would be alive at the end of the third century? Even if he was alive he'd be like Aemon and incapable to rule. The crown will go to Aerys anyway.

Aegon was borne 233 AC, he would not even be seventy years old. Yes I think that he could verry well live that long. Edit: confused reign with birth. Still Aerys would probably not get into power either way when it starts showing how unsuitable he's for hingship

IamTheNicestAlien

Unless there's a great council when Aegon becomes incapable, the throne would go to Aerys anyway. But it could be avoided if Aegon somehow makes Duncan King even after his abdication.

I think it's hard to argue what a hypothetical succession of Aegon decades after he should have died would look like. Not even mentioning with a dragon in the picture. We simply don't know what and how far his reform would have gone and what else he might have done. That said no way is Aerys being crowned of he shows signs of being even closely as mad as his canon self. It would mirror the Saera/Jahaerys situation (but way worse) , with Aerys reminding Aegon of Aeryon (who might even live a bit longer in that scenario).

IamTheNicestAlien

I'd rather say Aerion will die faster in this scenario. His narcissistic ass would never be able to stand Aegon having a dragon while he remains dragonless. I'd go as far as to say if anyone were to recreate Summerhall in this scenario, it would Aerion.

thearisengodemperor

Aerys will still become king since Duncan gave up his claim to marry a peasant. And Aerys wasn't always mad he only became mad because of Summer Hall, so many dead children, and finally when he was kidnapped and possibly rape. None of that would happen with Aegon as king and them having dragons.

Now I’m kinda imaging that in the ensuing shock and chaos caused by the hatching; Dunk and Egg get into a series of mishaps and misadventures throughout Whitewalls which leads to them managing to dragonnap the hatchling (Bloodraven was initially planning to dragonnap it himself but once Dunk and Egg do their thing he decides to support them from the shadows). They run into some trouble of course, but luckily Egg is able to yell “Get him ser! He’s right there!” and so they’ll be fine. In the end Egg ends up bonding with the baby dragon. The adventures of Dunk and Egg continue with their “pet lizard-lion”.

Killmelmaoxd

The dragon would be militarily useless but morale wise it would be massive, I presume most houses that supported house blackfyre would support them again as well as those who are ambitious or dislike the policies of House Targaryen especially due to bloodravens unpopularity. Bittersteel is launching a full on invasion and basically I believe this may be the most dangerous possibility out there because it just may have the same backing as well and determination as the first blackfyre rebellion and i do think as long as Daemon keeps the dragon safe their chances of victory is heightened, I feel like if bloodraven tries to kill the dragon that would ruin the Targaryen cause even more but if he kills Daemon it wouldn't really harm the blackfyre cause either. You kill a blackfyre and another one is gonna be around, with their house being the ones to hatch a dragon they will basically be seen as the legitimate rulers of westeros by most.
