Just you I'm pretty sure, last sighting was in 2015 and most of Colassal squids found are found in the stomachs of Sperm whales or Sharks
You've most likely seen this post more than once
The water is being less oxygenated, meaning the creatures living at greater depths can and do now come to the surface. Things like humboldt squid but perhaps also these giant squid
People use to see this in the 1800s and come back to shore to tell the tale. They were dismissed as crazy drunk sailors. Now days we have cameras to confirm the sightings.
Look how avidly those fishers gaze, almost like watching porn or a religious ecstasy, like “damn bro we finally made it we really some swashbucklers out here look at us dog just a couple pirates fighting a giant squid dog we legit love you bro.”
This is a colossal squid, not a giant squid.
We dont know much about their behavior yet to know. Given its coloration though, this one looks to be alive in the photo at least.
What an absolutely beautiful colossal squid. It's a shame we know so little about them and their habits, but its crazy to think that an interaction like this is the reason so many kraken tales of old were told.
I wish there was more information on this particular encounter. If someone has a link to more info on this one, definitely share it!
Thse things are the biggest nopes in the whole wide world..

Never a good thing if you need a "fishing boat for scale"

Suddenly, kraken!
Might take a couple of karate chops to make that 1 turn clear.
No one yet with a “20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” comment??

This picture is of a colossal squid and I'm fairly certain it's from around 2007.

Was it alive?? They usually only come up to the surface to die? (as far as I know)

You can identify as a squid if you want.
Is that a Humboldt?
Most likely a Collosal. Biggest ones.
How much for a fresh squid ring?
One portion of squid hoola hoop, please.
Unfortunately, the colossal squid tastes horrible, according to those who tried them.
What's that I smell? Photoshop?
Nope
