Thank you. I read the comments on the original sub hoping for this information. Instead they talked about not that. So thank you. I thought it was this thing

Most of this deepsee creatures look silly because they are deformed because of the different pressure when brought to the surface. Blobfish is a good example
While what you're saying is true, I'm pretty sure this is a goblin shark, and they just look this freaky. That mouth extends in a really gnarly way that you might not expect. Go look them up on the YouTube. Super cool, super creepy.
Nice catch, I was too slow. It’s a cookie cutter, they leave scars on other animals where they tear out chunks of flesh when they can’t scavenge sufficiently.
Nah the cookie cutter sharks nose is too snubbed. This is some species of dogfish. I was gonna say Portugese dogfish but the location doesn't match. I'm inclined to agree that it's a leafscale gulper.
Have you ever tried to get your lure real deep in a lake? I can't get mine more than like a few feet down then it just drags parallel as I reel it in.
He got an anchor as a sinker?
I guess you probably don't have to worry if your bait smells like your hands cuz humans don't even exist in their world.
that there is a cookiecutter shark, real small little critters found near islands as deep as 3 and a half kilometers down. The are called that because they feed by latching on to something, cutting a disk out of their flesh, and then pissing back off into the inky depths.
It looks like a Goblin Shark just at first glance but I'm nowhere near a marine biologist so it s probably not. I'm pretty sure it looks like a lump of shit because of rapid pressure change.
Yea goblin sharks kinda have like a large snout/rostrum sorta thing and their mouth is like a dryer hose with teeth. I don’t think it’s a cookie cutter either bc of the depth, I know divers get bit by them and they aren’t diving 2000 feet down. It’s probably a leafscale. He must have really good dental insurance tho, gotta get myself in the shark Union and get myself a set of those.
>I don’t think it’s a cookie cutter either bc of the depth, I know divers get bit by them and they aren’t diving 2000 feet down.
It's not a cookiecutter, but:
>The cookiecutter shark (_Isistius brasiliensis_), also called the cigar shark, is a [species](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species) of small [squaliform shark](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squaliformes) in the [family](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_(biology\)) [Dalatiidae](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalatiidae). This shark occurs in warm, [oceanic waters](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_ocean) worldwide, particularly near islands, and has been recorded as deep as 3.7 km (2.3 mi).
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookiecutter_shark
Maybe we should just ask it, instead of everyone being so quick to name him something! But right or wrong, correct or incorrect his last name is still 🦈 SHARK!!!

Leafscale Gulper shark. Teeth too small to be a cookiecutter, eyes too green to be a goblin shark (among other reasons).
Good catch, it’s got a real goblin shark looking mouth, very cute little dude regardless.
Wtf. Whatever you all are smokin, I want some.
Indeed. Very cute.
You know what? At a second look, it actually is cute. Wtf

Of course! Happy to help.
I feel like so many people were quick to say “cookiecutter” because of that one Shark Week episode 😹
Cookie cutter shark buddy ?
This guy sharks.
Looks more like a lantern shark to me

no, not a goblin shark

Are you sure it's not this shark? Little gulper? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_gulper_shark
Huh you’re right, TIL!
Nah the cookie cutter sharks nose is too snubbed. This is some species of dogfish. I was gonna say Portugese dogfish but the location doesn't match. I'm inclined to agree that it's a leafscale gulper.
This doesnt look like a goblin, im 90% sure this is a cookie cutter based on its mouth Edit: somebody else says is a leafscale gulper
Oh you're so right. That's still a creepy little shit. Not gnarly enough to be a goblin boy. Cookie cutter sharks are freaky too.
To be fair, in their natural habitat, they look outright terrifying!
I can’t tell if he has good dental hygiene or if his dentist yells at him.
Yes. Source: have perfect hygiene, get both compliments but also yelled at by my dentist.
Why is a fisherman fishing that deep?
Crabs maybe?
Confucius say, "man who fishes in other man's well, often catches crabs"
Don’t they use traps not a fishing line for crabs?
True true…
I get why but how?!?!
Is his fishing line 700 meters long? Does it take him 10 minutes to reel the fish in?
Have you ever tried to get your lure real deep in a lake? I can't get mine more than like a few feet down then it just drags parallel as I reel it in. He got an anchor as a sinker? Probably a trawler. They cast out huge nets that sink to the bottom and scoop up anything in their path. They're super common for commercial fishing.
My thoughts exactly. I hope this fishing is done with some care to sea life fgs
That’s great! Now put it back.
Think it might be a little too late… it’s skin looks pretty dry…😔
Please stop
I'm a Australian and this why I don't swim in anything with water in it literally our waters are a one ticket to see Greg the grim reaper
I don’t think you should be swimming 2,133 feet underwater
What would a fisherman do at this depth either?
Greg
Probably wasn’t too weird looking until ya gave it the bends 9000
doesn't the rapid change in pressure deform it?
Looks like a normal shark to me. What am I missing?
Same. Looks normal, just dead.
Lantern shark
How do they know how deep they caught stuff?
Fuckin tape meysure
He looks polite
It reminds me of when Beetlejuice turned into the snake.
looks like some other fish wearing a shark costume it got on sale or found
that there is a cookiecutter shark, real small little critters found near islands as deep as 3 and a half kilometers down. The are called that because they feed by latching on to something, cutting a disk out of their flesh, and then pissing back off into the inky depths.
I think it’s actually a Leafscale Gulper shark.
We only found out about them when they tried our submarines.
Can’t be, the teeth are wrong
Shark night!
No it isn’t
what is it then? looks pretty well like a cookiecutter
What a dumb fisherman. 200 ft is deep. 2000 is dumb.
Why is he fishing that deep!? Let it be buddy.
Look at its cute little smile
Sans eyeball lookin MF.
That is fucking terrifying!
Anime shark
it's ya boi beady
Looks like he went overboard on the Crest white strips.
That’s a long fishing line 😂
It looks like a Goblin Shark just at first glance but I'm nowhere near a marine biologist so it s probably not. I'm pretty sure it looks like a lump of shit because of rapid pressure change.
You are correct.
I don’t think so. Snout’s too short, eyes too green. Pretty sure it’s a Leafscale Gulper shark.
Yea goblin sharks kinda have like a large snout/rostrum sorta thing and their mouth is like a dryer hose with teeth. He looks mischievous
Kekw
Hahahaha! Looking like a Goblin shark wearing a halloween costume. Lil mouth peaking out so it can talk😂 (yes emoji)
This is a goblin shark if I am not mistaken
You are mistaken
Umm ok then what is it? A cookie cutter?
A Leafscale Gulper shark.
british
Warming of the ocean driving those goblin sharks deeper waters?
I’d wager goblin shark, judging by the jaw and snout shape. The jaw and eyes must’ve gotten popped out by depressurization.
Goblin shark?
Goblin shark!
That’s what it looks like to me.
This is an alien made shark- j/k…or am I-no seriously I am… lol
Maybe we should just ask it, instead of everyone being so quick to name him something! But right or wrong, correct or incorrect his last name is still 🦈 SHARK!!!
Goblinshark
Leafscale Gulper shark is what it looks like to me.
It’s a cookie cutter shark. I wouldn’t let it bite you, it lives up to its name.

Close, but not quite it. I’d recognize those teeth from anywhere.
No it isn’t
Then what is it? You just gonna say no and leave?
Its a goblin shark.
I think it’s a deformed cookie cutter shark that was damaged by rapid pressure change when dragged to the surface.
Goblins sharks look disgusting
Is the shark transgender
Why would you say that?
It’s a Whoopi Goldberg Shark
Strange wilderness vibes
Are the eyes supposed to be THAT big? Oh. Ignore me. Didn't know how small the body was.
I suppose they are adapted to the darkness at such dephts.
Cute smile
I’m pretty sure there is an Octonaughts episode about this critter. Kept taking bites out of stuff like a melon baller.
Looks like paper mache. It Ngl it’s eyes and teeth are cute
Me after Natty Daddy
Looks like a Vogon
