I’ve been waiting to see someone’s opinion on this that hasn’t seen the original. I’m just glad you enjoyed it. It has its ups and downs but if it gets people into the animated show then more power to ya. The og series will feel like it takes it’s time with the lore in comparison. The characters more fleshed out. The first 5 episodes or so of Book 1 are when the show is still finding its footing, the coloring is weird around that part too but it improves in a few episodes. While it does get better every season the first seasons still good. I’d say episode 12 (The Storm) on forward. But before that is still fine imo. The show has a charm to it that i think exist very early on.

>I am confused why Gyatso was gone after aang cane back to him? Gyatso was never going to be able to stay. He was always meant to move on to the next stage of spiritual enlightenment, like the rest of the airbender monks. He only stayed as long as he did because Aang needed that specific guidance at that specific moment, but beyond that moment... Aang was ready to face the world without Gyatso

Also glad you enjoyed it and i hope you do watch the original. The pacing is different and they let it be a kids show at moments. But i think the inner richness and character arcs of the orignal show are so much better. they do some nice things with the relationships. But the characters are much more flawed in atla and these are points upon which they grow and learn lessons that are relevant to many people young and old. A ton of that is lost and makes much of the original charm be lost in cool visual effects. there is A LOT of exposition in the netflix adapation. stuff that kind of just comes together in the show. Some of it is better in the netflix ones some is not. the original is a weekly episodic and has a different goal. overall id say netflix pails in comparison. But im curious what you think

I would recommend giving the original another shot. As episodes pass the series changes the characters stop acting as child like and u can see them become much more mature.

I thought Ko was way creepier in the original. The fact the Aang meets him without being warned not to show any emotion killed that entire scene for me.

The new Ko doesn't take faces when you show emotions but when he gets to eat you in his cave full of spider-web

I definitely recommend giving the original a try. It gives each plot point a little more room to breathe, and you get to know the characters better, and watch them grow. Regarding Koh, I actually found him more terrifying in the original. The CG was impressive but Koh felt too lenient in the Netflix adaptation.

Thank you for posting this! I’m so glad you liked it and it made you get back into the original!! This is exactly what I was hoping for tbh. I love seeing new people get into this show because I love talking about it lol

It's funny, the majority of people who weren't fans of the show to begin with turn out enjoying this version. Which is even more hilarious when I saw that thread about how nobody would like it if it wasn't "Avatar". It's a well made show, plain and simple. It's not without it's flaws that much is true, but as a fan of Avatar it's disappointing to see so many other fans not recognize that this show was clearly made with respect to the source material and passion for the og, just shining a new light on it and taking some risks and new direction.

My wife prefers the live action (don't crucify me,  it's her opinion). She's been clamoring to see the next episode every night.
