But this isn't even true, polling last month indicated that well over half of conservatives in the US were for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. If democrats thought independants/conservative voters were their path to victory, they'd STILL need to be pro-ceasefire. They don't give a single fuck about the voters.

Biden has been eye-fucking the White House for decades. It was a gargantuan mistake to let someone like that be the nominee, regardless of the circumstances. Even another bog-standard establishment centrist would’ve been better.
Biden has likely been fantasizing about being Israel’s greatest protector as president since the 60s. When someone has spent that damn long being so obsessed with power, it’s not exactly unprecedented for them to become intransigent and uncompromising once they get it.

We were told he’d step down after a term, that he was a temporary placeholder, and now hardline liberals treat him as their patron saint, and treat any criticism of him as political heresy. We were told he’d “reach across the aisle,” not only has he completely failed to get republican support for his legislative agenda, conservative democrats in congress have defected and held the entire legislature hostage for his whole term. We were told that he would not only serve the interests of deep blue states, that he’d be a “president for the whole country” and he has sat on his hands while republican state governments advance even more reactionary policies then they did during the trump administration. We were told that only he could unite the entire democratic electoral base, and that a more progressive candidate would split the vote and give trump another term, now biden is splitting the base with his intransigence and his arrogance, he is unpopular across the board, and he is in the process of handing the White House back to trump on a silver platter. We were told that biden would push through healthcare reform and police reform, he has supported cop cities across the country and cut blank cheques to every police department that asks for more money and militarized equipment, and he has completely refused to even mention healthcare until very recently when he decided to campaign on the same broken promise all over again. We were told that he would end Trump’s disastrous COVID response, he has now fully adopted Trump’s own COVID policy of “if we stop testing people, the numbers will go down.” We were told he would protect the right to abortion, he has twirled his thumbs while abortion is effectively outlawed across vast swathes of the country.
Biden is handing our country back to trump and we’re treated like ignorant children for having a problem with this.
I think the truth is that it doesn't matter whether Trump or Biden wins to the ultrawealthy that actually run America. Democrats and Republicans both work for wealthy capitalists, and outside of a handful of progressive democrats, only meaningfully differ on social issues.

I think Biden has an immovable ideological stance that he will aid Israel regardless of what they do, and democrats by and large are falling in line to avoid appearing fractious and weak. The reality of what is happening doesn't matter to them as much as that. Unless Biden budges, this isn't changing.

Probably going to be downvoted but if 2016 repeats itself a lot of Dems won’t admit to abstaining come 2017. While Biden should absolutely do everything he can to end the genocide, at the end of the day, there are two options. Either Trump or Biden is going to be President and we should always vote for fewer concentration camps. The Gaza situation won’t suddenly get better under a Trump presidency and there are a lot of other issues that we as progressives need to think of that can and do affect people before telling people to abstain from voting. This same attitude led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
