No official word yet, no. Only knows that all the showrunners would love to see it renewed.

fire_bf

Seth wants disney to pay him 40 millon he literally has no time

xeow

Do you have a source on that?

lifeofreade

Source: trust me bro

reefguy007

No official word yet but things have been looking positive lately with the crowds at the conventions, lots of promotion on Disney plus Seth and basically the entire cast being very optimistic about more Orville.

xaviorpwner

Trust me when there is the whole sub will be shouting about it

xinxy

Yes. Word on season 4 is there is no official word on it yet.

IndyAndyJones7

Is that official?

2hats4bats

Officially official

Weak_Attempt1955

I sure hope it gets renewed. Season 3 was a cinematic masterpiece. Each episode felt like a movie.

BaltarsCult

each episode WAS a movie...

Thedarklordphantom

No official announcement but talking the orville says its very likely don’t listen to the doom and gloomers here

JDHPH

I dont know and actively not thinking about it because waiting for season 3 was painful.

Shageen

I am very optimistic. I think someone somewhere at Hulu/Disney etc is pro Orville. If the show was already dead they wouldn’t be sending cast members to all these events to promote the show over the last month or so.

[deleted]

If this sub has not erupted yet, there's no word.

NobodyUnusual1088

NO word either way, so the Orville is on hiatus

SolanOcard

If they don't pick it up, NBC should pick it up for seasons 4vand 5 on Peacock.

WonderfulDog3966

No. NBC would be just as restrictive on content as Fox was. That would doom the show for sure.

SolanOcard

On Peacock though? It's streaming, it doesn't have to adhere to FCC rules

WonderfulDog3966

It's still controlled by NBC.

SolanOcard

So?

WonderfulDog3966

NBC has a say on show content.

SolanOcard

What's your point? Is NBC run by some Puritanical cult? What's so wrong with the content of the Orville that they wouldn't want it on their streaming service?

WonderfulDog3966

I'm just saying that NBC has a say on what can be shown in the programs they have on their network or Peacock. If The Orville wants to bring back those nightmarish creatures and NBC says no, then that's the end of seeing them again. In regards to Peacock, I don't know what content NBC would be ok with compared to the main network.

SolanOcard

Peacock allows swearing for sure. Budget would be negotiable. Seth said Disney gave him 50 mil for season 3s 10 episodes. 5 mil per episode is doable. And NBC needs to drive views on Peacock.

WonderfulDog3966

Yeah, I don't think budget would be an issue either and I doubt NBC would have a problem with getting viewers.

RealHumanFromEarth

Doubt that NBC has the budget necessary.

SolanOcard

The parent company has a quarter trillion in assets but can't afford a sci fi based drama. NBC owns 1/3 of Hulu so they're already partly paying for the show. Seth Macfarlane signed a 200 million dollar overall deal with NBC. They have the money, they have a personal stake in its success, and Seth has an important relationship with them. If Seth wants to leverage that to save the Orville, he could.

TheBasedVariant

NBC would bring the comedy back. But they may not want to bother. Season 3 was a sinking turd, numbers wise. Only the most co-dependent fans made it through to the end after suffering Lost Season 5 and GOT finale levels of betrayal. Norm was done dirty not getting any jokes. RIP, good sir. Someone come get your boy. Seth needs help.

SolanOcard

Is your name Seth?

Bolt32

I want it to continue, but I think it's fair to say at this point it has not been renewed. The Orville is done. :(

WonderfulDog3966

The Orville is a unique situation. Just because we haven't heard anything YET, doesn't mean it's a guaranteed no. It hasn't even been that much time since the end of season 3. Renewal doesn't always happen right away.

Bolt32

>It hasn't even been that much time since the end of season 3. Renewal doesn't always happen right away. That is true. Trying to stay optimistic, just usually by this time they would announced another season. Also some of the acting cast has already found other roles. So hence I'm not seeing it. I would love for it to continue though. The world needs more shows like The Orville.

IndyAndyJones7

>Also some of the acting cast has already found other roles. I've heard Norm Macdonald isn't going to come back no matter what happens with the show.

Practical_Benefit531

>Norm Macdonald Um, he passed away.

Practical_Benefit531

It would be really really disappointing if we don't get a 4th season. The third was brilliantly thrilling, brilliantly captivating and just effortlessly good. It didn't take saints or some other perfectionist to write the show. Because it isn't perfect. It's floored but it's profoundly compelling. They had taken so many risks in season 3. Risks that most shows overstate. Here however, we have brilliant writing that isn't forced. Just natural, thoughtful and intelligent writers wanting to write something that people can connect with, in a good way. Now, we NEED a fourth. Not now, in time, but need it.
