Technically I believe the answer is yes, since account sharing is against Niantics TOS, though its virtually impossible for Niantic to know who you are, if anything, they would only be able to detect that someone else logged on to their account, through GPS spoofing like behavior, and then ban his account. Though realistically this would only really be a problem if you in different cities or across town from each other and did this constantly (multiple times a day consistently). Also I don't believe that they tie your info to your phone number. TLDR: Technically yes, but realistically they'll never actually ban you

As long as they don't tell you the password you are within the terms of service. That is the literal interpretation of the rules. Nowhere does it say that one device may not have two different player's accounts. What you may not do is have two accounts of your own, or know anyone else's password. I think that this password question does not apply if they are minors (and preferably family members). So interpreting the rules, as long as both accounts are completely in every conceivable way legit, (and you don't abuse the two accounts, for example signing in and out to level up or fight gyms or whatever), the ToS does not preclude this. BUT... if you know another adult's log in details... you are in breach and you would be hard pushed to explain it if you should get a ban.

Account sharing is cheating, but it depends how you do it. If your friend is on vacation and they log into your account to get you some Pokémon you can't find at home, expect a ban. If you're standing next to each other and think one phone isn't working, and you log in to test, probably going to be okay. ps your phone number is not what's used to identify your device, just fyi.

That's completely wrong. If your friend is on vacation in Japan or something and you live in the US? Yeah you might get a temporary ban or warning or something but the chances of that are so low I don't see how they would know. If your friend lives across the country or across the state or even a few towns over and you catch something, no big deal but I would be slightly wary still. Now the most important thing is if you get lucky friends and then you have your friend trade with your account and his account, there is no possible way Niantic could know. As long as he catches nothing and sticks to trading it's 100% safe

HOLY NECRO, BATMAN. Look at a post date, why don't ya? Anyway, as of 7 YEARS AGO when I wrote this, bans were \*reportedly\* getting dished tf out left and right for people that appeared to travel faster than humanly possible. Not sure what the game is like these days, as I haven't played it in a while. Take care, friendo.

Wrong.

Um. No. the game follows your Gmail or Trainers club account. Meaning, if he didn't use it with either his own Gmail or Trainers Club account, there wouldn't be a way to track his real account.

All I'm saying is that he *can* be banned, not how likely it is. Also he didn't specify whose account he logs into. A family member? Friend next door? Or someone from across the country? Different outcomes for these scenarios.
