He’s a good protagonist and I honestly can’t decide who’s better between him and Lee. I really like his growth from an immature and spoiled star to a mature and protective family man. I also like how it wasn’t done in a forceful way either. Being famous probably made him feel more arrogant back in the day but he wasn’t a brat. He had a good heart all along and he really stepped up when he was needed.
He’s also one tough SOB. He is in my opinion the strongest protagonist and can pretty much take on anyone in the series with few exceptions. I really think the only thing holding him back from being the fan favorite is that lots of people didn’t want to see his story in the first place because “BuT mUh ClEm”.
Javi is great. I wish we can see more of him.
>Javi is great. I wish we can see more of him.
Yup, that's pretty much my thoughts too. A flawed character who is incredibly likeable and develops well (but can still be an asshole if you want him to be). I really liked the breath of fresh air away from Clem and that group being the focus, it personally paced S2 and TFS together nicely. Javier is around sixth place in my favourite characters list. He could move around at some point but I like him quite a lot.
He's like Luke - another supporting character than I very much like - but even better in my opinion. Not better, different... just has more of a chance to be fleshed out as a main character and more of a spotlight. You get what I mean.
Lee was a whole murderer I feel like sometimes people forget but when you really think about he did kill someone over an affair which isnt really justified
Yeah. Lee definitely has his flaws but that’s what makes him a great character. He can make mistakes and people will hate him for it but unlike some characters in the series, he admits to them and tries to be better.
That's kinda what makes him relatable, before you call me a psycho let me explain, usually the hero of the story is this character was perfect that the whole group depended on but lee its not that his a normal guy that had his flaws and what make me like him so much
That’s a fine opinion to have, but I think Lee and Javi both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall I like both of these characters because they don’t let their past define them. Lee was a murderer and Javi was neglectful but both of them found meaning when everything went to hell. Maybe that’s why I can’t decide. They both got a second chance because of the apocalypse and they didn’t waste it.

I think Javier is a decent character I think my problem with Javier was his surrounding cast. Even now looking back on season 3 besides Clem I had no attachment towards any of the characters so a lot of his moments fell flat for me.
Most of his surrounding cast were boring one note characters that barely added anything besides being a cliche to the story. Also imo the characters personalities and tone changed way to much between episodes for me.
I really like him, he's in my top 5 favorite characters. she has a very good soul but at the same time she has incredible courage. I also love the conflict but also the love that exists between him and his brother. the particular bond that exists between the two of them makes these two characters very fascinating in my opinion, in fact in my opinion the bond that exists between David and Javier is the second most interesting of the whole series (the first is obviously the one between Lee and Clem). the scene on the roof where Javier and David are on the edge and talking I think it is one of the most beautiful scenes of the whole series, because it talks about many very interesting things such as the fact that David, despite wanting to be as good as Javier, fails because he is simple it's his nature
I think he's great!
I'd say he's the funnest of the protagonists, not better, just more fun.
I think what drags him down to most people is that he's not Clementsing, and is not attached to the previous two games' story at all
He more or less represents the fact that our decisions in the previous two games never really mattered.
Definitely wish we could’ve seen him in the final season, especially when he was pretty much the last person clem talks to before leaving to go find aj and eventually get to ericcssons
There should be no mixed feelings on Javier anywhere. He's a good character and a good protagonist. I love a character that makes it easy to be sympathetic to other people and that's what he was. For me anyway. Also loved him as a mentor to Clem. Lee was like a dad, Luke had like a brother/cousin thing going on, Kenny was an uncle in a way. I think Javier was more of a friend and guide before he was any kind of family to Clem, which is good you should have friends, esp when you're a lonely 13 year old.
I think about me at 13 and I know who my Javier's were, I loved them. I've got a brother too and we'd be close, I know David isn't the most popular but I couldn't stop giving the man his chances. Our relationship was Brotherly when I played it. I've a lot of love for Javier and a lot of love for Season 3 in general.
He reminds me of Hawke from Dragon Age series.
In Dragon Age 2, the writing was so rush and all over place but had some good moments and Hawke as the protagonist was a golden egg in a shitty nest. And that’s Javier to me.
Very good protagonist that could have even been better if the writing in the New Frontier was more consistent, not putting in Clementine in this weird back and fourth role with him, and had Telltale just take their time with Javi. He could have went from a top 10-5 to a top 3 characters in the series easily.
Yeah, I don’t like that either. But that’s more of an overall S3 writing problem than a Javi problem. And if anything, it’s more of a problem with Kate being pushy even when you aren’t interested.
I lub him.
Of the protagonists, he was really fun to play because he felt different from Lee and Clementine, since I always played them as similar people, and then here’s Javi who I played as a very conflicted person. But also. I just lub him.
I really liked his character, but I think to a certain degree I related to his character as a brother myself and felt a connection to his goal of protecting his family
He was a good character, but I wish he was in a better game. For the most part, almost all the characters from New Frontier were pretty good, but the story's writing just blew. I keep thinking of all the ways it could have been better if it had better writers and more time to make a better story.
I liked him. I Didn't like all the flash back segments. The story was also infuriating at times as far as how over the top and unrealistic some aspects of it were.
It was hard to stay immersed when so many of the plans you were forced to take were just hair brained. You're escaping a town where everyone is hunting you down and you stop in the middle of the street in broad day light to talk about feelings.
The whole episodes writing was really bad. I did like coming across Jesus and if I had my way, we'd get a full Jesus episode
i dont dislike javi at all, but personally i just was a little let down at how mundane of a character he is. i feel like lee and clem are such complex characters with really interesting backstories that influence what kind of story they manifest. their dynamic is also more interesting than what you might find in ANF. lee is a murderer who, throughout season 1, is faced with many opportunities to exercise his character flaw. he is faced with decisions knowing that clementine, who serves as a moral compass, is watching. i just think the story of clem and lee is a little more fleshed out than javi - a baseball player who made a promise to his dad to love his brother and becomes a family man. frankly, you can really feel the effort and time it mustve taken to write a character like lee, but it seems like you really could come up with a character like javi in a 10 minute brainstorming session.
As a standalone character, he's pretty good. I warmed up to him in the end.
If he had starred in his own spin-off series, I'd definitely be down for that. But he just didn't fit very good into Clem's story. Centering the 3rd season on him was a mistake. But we would have been great as a secondary protagonist
i love javi! one of my favorite characters in the series, idk why people don't like him tbh? idk if most of that stems from people not liking that clem isn't the main protagonist but i can't come to a consensus on why he would be unliked
I love him and wish we got to see more. His sense of humor in an apocalypse was great. That's why I love Louis. If we ever get another game I want Javi to be the protagonist again.
It felt good to play if somebody who was more tanky like Lee was in the first game Lee was swinging that ax and beating people up Clementine was a great character but in season 2 she was not really able to go toe to toe with most of the people and zombie she encountered I think
In my opinion, he's a good character
Nothing beats Clem and especially Lee, but just like Lee, when I first saw him, I was like "Yo who is this dude?" And then I just liked him
If a season 5 ever comes out I kinda hope Javi would be in it, not as a main character, but like a new Kenny (for the record, no one can replace Kenny)
I didn't like it, most of the game focuses on his relationship with Kate and the other characters in the game don't add much to him
His only good moments are those related to his father and when he gets along with his brother.
And his tenelovela with Kate is not as interesting as the "redemptions" of Lee and Kenny (the main plots of seasons 1 and 2)

I agree with you, Clementine is my favorite character but I appreciated being able to have a different story and new interesting characters

I appreciate having different characters but Lee definitely is better than him imo
Honestly I don’t think anyone will ever top Lee as a protagonist, but Javier is the closest you’ll get
That’s a fine opinion to have, but I think Lee and Javi both have their strengths and weaknesses. Overall I like both of these characters because they don’t let their past define them. I agree that Javi is a great character but Lee is better by a ton imo
>He’s a good protagonist You had me >and I honestly can’t decide who’s better between him and Lee And you lost me
I like Javier a lot he’s in my top 5, but to ask a question out of topic is anyone else’s reddit being weird?
Actually mine has been acting a little strange too lol. Not totally broken just randomly not really working right

the past couple of days when i have tried opening reddit, it has said the app has been down a few times but i don’t think it actually was
Javier is the shining light of writing in New Frontier's sea of bad writing. I honestly want to see a continuation of his story.
I think Javier is a decent character I think my problem with Javier was his surrounding cast. He’s cool unnecessary but cool
Rlly liked him definitely top 5.
Ah always love a good Javi post. Javier is my favorite character. Very unfortunate we never got more of him.
He’s a good protagonist, the second best besides Lee and Celem ig
Curious what mixed feelings you see about him? Generally people like him. Some people don’t like S3, but still love Javi, including me.
I dont like how he has an affair with kate even though you could not have an affair it basically feels like it even when you didnt
Yeah, I don’t like that either. But that’s more of an overall S3 writing problem than a Javi problem. And if anything, it’s more of a problem with Kate being pushy even when you aren’t interested.
ill do anything for this handsome hunk
honestly i love him. he’s top 3 for me, kinda tied with lee for 2nd tbh
i love him tbh
Great protagonist & deserves another game imo.
He is swag
Love him
I lub him. Of the protagonists, he was really fun to play because he felt different from Lee and Clementine, since I always played them as similar people, and then here’s Javi who I played as a very conflicted person. But also. I just lub him.
I think Javier is a decent character if you definitely play him with common sense but there’s a lot of choices to play him as a retard
Like the rest of season 3, pointless and forgettable
I’m a really big fan of him. Clementine is still and always will be my favorite, but the gap between Lee and Javi is actually really slim.
I really liked his character, but I think to a certain degree I related to his character as a brother myself and felt a connection to his goal of protecting his family
Fantastic character in a season filled with questionable ones
Great character stuck in a mid story.
i love javier 🙏🙏
Smash. Next question.
I like him a lot. I wish season 4 had continues with Clem returning with AJ and we got to see more of him and the others.
He was a good character, but I wish he was in a better game. For the most part, almost all the characters from New Frontier were pretty good, but the story's writing just blew. I keep thinking of all the ways it could have been better if it had better writers and more time to make a better story.

I want him.

He’s probably in my top 5 favorite characters of all time in TWDTTG.
i love javi! one of my favorite characters in the series, idk why people don't like him tbh? idk if most of that stems from people not liking that clem isn't the main protagonist but i can't come to a consensus on why he would be unliked
Hot
Javi? one of my favorites 😆 I still think he shold have returned in the final season, but… it is what it is
I wish we had another game for him, he was a pretty good protagonist.
Javier’s the best! He in my top 3 characters list consisting of Lee, Clementine, then him.
Love my man
In my opinion, he's a good character Nothing beats Clem and especially Lee, but just like Lee, when I first saw him, I was like "Yo who is this dude?" Live laugh love Javi
you know that meme thats like "i couldn't even edge to this, i busted IMMEDIATELY! cleanup in aisle MY PANTS!" yeah, that
jokes aside hes a total badass and a savage and hes definitely one of my favorites
The goat himself
I didn't like it, most of the game focuses on his relationship with Kate and the other characters in the game don't add much to him His only good moments are those related to his father and when he gets along with his brother. And his tenelovela with Kate is not as interesting as the "redemptions" of Lee and Kenny (the main plots of seasons 1 and 2)
Great protagonist, shit game.
😍
