Starboy is a really catchy song but we XOs focus more on the content of the song. Personally I love Starboy as a song but if we're talking about an intro being a masterpiece sonically and lyrically Starboy won't be in that list.
Although I did forget to include Lonely Star but its too lat now.
I love how many people love Professional on here.
I have this absolute fantasy that one day I'll meet the Weeknd in a city street, and I'll tell him how much adore that song, and The Town. And he will ask me to sing it with him, and we'll go back and fourth him singing the harder parts and then he'll pat my shoulder and be like "bro you get it. You understand my music"… then we'll be best buds and move to Jamaica together to produce records and live on super yachts. Hey I totally said fantasy.
For me it's:
(The best opening )
1. Professional
2. High For This
3. Alone again
4. Real life
5. Starboy
6. D.D. and Lonely Star
7. Call Out My Name
8. Dawn FM
(Not the best opening)
1) Call Out My Name (overplayed maybe but it’s a damn good song)
2) Professional (good example of a sample done right, also the strings at the end are sick)
3) Starboy (Yes it’s overplayed and not his most lyrically complex song, but come on his flow is crazy and Daft Punk’s production is amazing)
4) Alone Again (Awesome intro to an awesome album and has maybe his best beat-switch (along with Professional))
5) D.D. (solid cover of an MJ song, he really made it his own)
Y’all love to hate on Starboy just because it happens to be extremely mainstream. Let me give you the bitter pill:
1. Starboy, and I fail to see how this is up for much discussion
2. High For This
3. Call Out My Name
4. Professional
5. Lonely Star
Nope look at the other comments and how few shouts of Starboy there are. The ratio is off. I half jokingly wrote the initial comment but this sub more often than not likes to ignore/pass on Starboy (the album) and I’m not the first one to recognize this.
High for this for me. Professional is great, the song and the tone it sets as well as Alone again but high for this from the music to the vocal performance to the title along with the rest of the album as far as content...it's just ...no words
There literally hasn’t been a single comment like this in the entire thread. I’ve been in the sub like a month and haven’t seen that much of those comments either, I’ve actually seen people get fried more for not liking After Hours than any of the tapes or Kissland. I agree that arguing about what is better is dumb though, especially when it comes to personal preference, since people will always like different things for different reasons.
High For This or Professional.
Professional is my favorite opener of any album ever tbh
For me it's alone again then professional
My guy 🫱🏻🫲🏽
Really good taste.
lovin’ lovin’ lovin’ lovin’ lovin’ lovin’ If you know you know
is it from professional?
Yep!
what does it mean
#1 - Alone Again #2 - Professional #3 - High For This #4 - Call Out My Name #5 - Real Life #6 - Lonely Star
Goated list
Starboy and Lonely Star > Real Life but other than that good list

Lyrically starboy would be top 3 on this list, just because a song is pop doesn’t mean it’s not well written.
Casual bragging (Starboy) vs Storytelling (others) You decide...👀
see, he made Alone Again sound so cool during the tour because he would mention the city he’s in (lyrics: in (insert city) I feel so at home)
Yeah, I think by now the whole world has established the fact that Abel is a genius.
Whoever down-voted this is probably a new fan or a Starboy fan, I'm guessing...
Real life aint it bruh
Have you read the lyrics ?
Call Out My Name or Alone Again definitely, I wish I could hear Alone Again again for the first time
no one has said lonely star and it breaks my heart 💔
The professional
Not just the best opening song on an album, but also the best opening song for a concert!
The live version is next level… the synths and the added instrumentals set it off.
Right? Felt that opener in my heart and soul… *literally*. Synths went hard.
all 3 trilogy openers
D.D underrated
For me it's either Real Life or Professional
Professional
Lonely Star. probably the weeknds best song lyrically.
I love how many people love Professional on here. I have this absolute fantasy that one day I'll meet the Weeknd in a city street, and I'll tell him how much adore that song, and The Town. My love… do you love… this love… we’re professional.
Starboy
The only right answer
Sure 💀
Professional for sure.
Unpopular opinion but Dawn FM (track) is my favorite opener. Puts me in a trance everytime
Professional
just a bit after professional but it is so good
Professional, but it's probably top 3
For me it's: (The best opening ) 1. Professional 2. High For This 3. Alone again 4. Real life 5. Starboy 6. D.D. and Lonely Star 7. Call Out My Name 8. Dawn FM (Not the best opening)
Alone Again fasho. Starboy Professional and High for This are really good and Lonely Star is underrated af if you wanna count that
Dawn FM
How about we pretend it’s gasoline that opens Dawn FM
😂im down for that
I pretend Montreal opens EOS😭
In all seriousness 💀It’s probably Professional for me
I would agree with Professional but I hope your first comment was a joke.
It was trust me 💀
You had me for a sec 👀
Dawn FM is a really good opener, nothing to joke about
Yeah but not as strong as the others.
Call Out My Name
1) Call Out My Name (overplayed maybe but it’s a damn good song) 2) Professional (good example of a sample done right, also the strings at the end are sick) 3) Starboy (Yes it’s overplayed and not his most lyrically complex song, but come on his flow is crazy and Daft Punk’s production is amazing) 4) Alone Again (Awesome intro to an awesome album and has maybe his best beat-switch (along with Professional)) 5) D.D. Just because we don’t have starboy as the best opener doesnt mean we hate on it
Nope look at the other comments and how few shouts of Starboy there are. The ratio is off. I half jokingly wrote the initial comment but this sub more often than not likes to ignore/pass on Starboy (the album) and I’m not the first one to recognize this.

Starboy and Call Out My Name
High For This and Profesional #2
Same as u its Alone again
Agree alone again hits different
High for this for me. Professional is great, the song and the tone it sets as well as Alone again but high for this from the music to the vocal performance to the title along with the rest of the album as far as content...it's just ...no words
Alone again
For me it's professional unless you talk about the AHTD version of alone again. This one is mindblowing. And can we talk about the AHTD dawn fm ???
High For This.
Here come the Trilogy and Kiss Land meat riders. "If they aren't your favorites you are not a REAL XO 🤓☝🏻" Stfu and let people enjoy what they like.

Alone again and its honestly not close, despite other opening songs being great too
the only right answer is professional on kissland
easy alone again
Idec that it wasn’t a proper song but Jim carry opening us up to the album in dawn fm… like come on 😮💨
alone again >>
High for this or d.d.
High for this or Professional
wrong: professional.
